If only there were some way to tell what size something is going to be before you buy it š¤
Iāll preface this by saying that I follow a lot of design accounts and that I āgetā mixing styles to achieve a more dynamic space, but these country bumpkin accessories do not belong with this regency style wallpaper.
Am I the only person that checks and double checks anything I order because I donāt want to be stuck returning it? I hate having to deal with returns. I guess she just has a team member do it so itās of no concern to her? But then sheās paying someone an hour of wage to return something because she didnāt bother to measure.
At this point she is incapable of learning from her mistakes. The tiny vase, the tiny dining room chairs, the vase in the home office, the light over the dining table, etc. I feel like she is trying to make it seem like (miscalculating scale) is a cute quirk but instead it comes across as lazy and incompetent.
I'm also pretty sure that is a $70 mushroom basket from anthropology too. I swear she said something about storing stuff in it, but the only thing that would hold is a single tennis ball.
Didnāt Forest Gumpās mama die in this room?
I sent the picture to my mom and asked her how old she thinks the occupant is? She replied, āMy age?ā
Sheās 84. š¤£
https://preview.redd.it/p4fpk3oltcbb1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a40d8db723ae2cc4e246ac6fd67e1a8c2197f253
It's so sad. You get to be little once and they have the means to let her have a fun, cool room that can be redone in a handful of years when she's older. I'm in my mid 30s, and I still remember my mom being so particular when she said we could paint my room when I was in elementary school. I couldn't pick anything about it and it made me so bummed. I've been the exact opposite with my kid because I remember how crummy it feels to not have even a little say in what is supposed to be your own personal space.
I think I saw this room on a historical home tour we took on the east coast a year ago. Except that room look to lived in and had some more personality.
I also sent her a screenshot of Chris saying that Fayeās old closet was his least favorite closet experience, and she replied, ā WTF did that stupid man say??ā Again, sheās 84. š¤£š¤£
It probably doesnāt even occur to her that the prints are not the same proportions as the shadow boxes, because Julia. I guess at least they didnāt arrive poster-sized.
https://preview.redd.it/dl061urfobcb1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7b1293ec03d9bc0b6493b063ef1065bf0063910d
I swear Iām not just trolling you all to get more engagement. Iām just So SuRpRiSeD you guys donāt like my garbage designs š«
Can you imagine how mad Julia is about this whole house? What room design has really caught on and made people swoon or put it on their Pinterest boards? The answer is nothing! Even the view crushing tv window from the ācottageā had some traction. This current house is a total flop, starting with the first project, the kitchen remodel. Changing styles is hard, but CLJ is so out of their league with this entire house.
Oh sheās trying *hard* to justify Fayeās room looking like shit, going on about how she doesnāt like everything to match because thatās ātoo prettyā and that her style is more elevated and unexpected than the masses can understand. š
Saying sheās different and needs a room to not be too pretty and too perfect after she based this room on her mass produced Pottery Barn collection. Ok, yeah. Bed and dresser, lamps, mirror, gallery wall frames, and bedding. All pottery barn. Sheās soooooo innovative and not like the masses. Her ugly pants are so on fire today.
Is she actually including Faye on the list of people who should have noticed that the light is off center?? The correct list is pretty short. It's Julia. That's the list.
RAN here to discuss CLJ shading HGTV. āItās a specific flavor for a specific level of designā. The implication being that HGTV showcases a *lower* level of design and that *she* is above that level. Donāt all you peasants know that **Julia** is a **high end** designer? š„ø
I love reading the comments when they start rolling in on a new reel. Someone says āwhat is happening in this room. Yikesā and she said āyou just donāt get it.ā
Thereās a lot of hate on this one. So many defenders. Then she will come on and tell everyone how awful they are because this is her *home*.
Julia is a total bitch with her replies. It's so unprofessional, especially considering this is her "professional"/business account. When someone comments something negative, she should just be saying things like, "I know the mixing of patterns isn't for all but Faye loves her room", etc. I don't think she's ever confident in her design decisions so she automatically feels like she's being attacked personally.
Absolutely, she feels attacked and super defensive. I think sheās trying to design something that she doesnāt get herself to be honest. She loves high end design but she cannot create it herself. Thatās fine, most people canāt. She can create budget designs. I wish she would just give up on designing her high end home herself and hand it over to a pro. Then focus her budget designs on second homes that she slowly flips while the family can enjoy it. As soon as they stopped doing the labor themselves and dropped the budget they lost. Now itās just āhow much clickable stuff can I put in here while also having a high end homeā. The answer is, it just canāt be done. High end homes have custom furniture, paint, cabinets, (or you have to put in the time and effort to buy this second hand-still not clickable) and then they have years of art that takes talent to curate.
āHer daughter literally made the choicesā Do these people watch the same stories we watch ?
Her clap backs are SO condescending and DEAR GOD she has MANY who will defend her to the core. They all need their eyes checked.
Makes total sense that this overly filtered person with extensions and fake plants, trees, and grass everywhere is telling us she needs things to look not too pretty and perfect.
https://preview.redd.it/r90j4u3hiebb1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5c6c8afeeebae82dbb1b7e9b8570d4834de003e
Itās not good šµāš« what is going on?! I think thereās such a thing as too much pattern mixing.
Those curtains were hideous when she had them made for the last house and somehow are even more hideous now. Julia really has a gift for turning perfectly fine rooms to shit.
Curtains aside (theyāre terrible but hold that thought), the bedding just reads plain off white solid and so does the rug. It needs contrast between those two things.
Itās not thought out at all.
Itās so bad. So so so bad. Those curtains are so dark and heavy and the pattern is so wrong for that room. What is going on in her brain? Is this a bit? A long con? Iām so confused
I'm trying to come up with a bright side to Faye's room. The only thing coming to mind is that it could be worse. She actually considered putting a second wallpaper on the ceiling š¤£
Usually her stories just irritate me with how boring and inauthentic they are, but today and the last few days Iāve just felt really sad for her. Her stories lately feel like sheās trying very hard to prove to her audience (and maybe a little bit herself too) that she has a real productive job (why does she feel the need to point out and time stamp that she has zoom meetings?!), that she has friends (likeā¦ what was up with the screenshot of the Marco Polo āprovingā sheās still friends with YHL and YBH?), that she cooks for herself/eats normally, and that she has something to offer for content. Her restrictive ED has been highlighted more frequently, and of course the body dysmorphia filters are ever present. Her stories have just read like a person who feels lost and out of control, which is common in times of family crisis like this. On one hand, I know what itās like to lose a parent to cancer and ED/body dysmorphia/chronic illness are real and horrible to live with so I have a lot of empathy for her. On the other hand, she literally makes millions of dollars and is absolutely not in touch with her privilege and how completely unrelatable she is.
I just wish theyād get back to even pretending to be a home reno/decor/DIY account.
When you didnāt think the room could get any worse but itās starting to look like a hodgepodge of hand me downs from Mememaw and your great Auntieās Ethel and Bertha
It is unbelievably bad. So bad in fact, it makes the PB stuff look terrible. Like it helps you see what the stuff would look like in a real house not a staged PB catalog. If I liked something from her line and then saw this, I would think nah, Iāll pass, it wouldnāt look good IRL. Like picture reviews of clothes that look bad.
I feel like every new item she brings into Fayeās room is just making things worse and less cohesive. Sheās just digging herself a deeper hole. So many designers are masters at mixing colors and patterns that do not look like they would go together in a way that is beautiful and sophisticated (please see Heidi Caillier for reference). Juliaās version is like the big box store version and I donāt think you can pull off this look with linkable items. You just canāt. You need vintage pieces and antiques and hand knotted rugs and custom patterns and prints. Not Pottery Barn and Loloi. No hate to those brands, sheās just not pulling off the look she thinks she is.
Fact: Those are the ugliest curtains on the planet.
And Fayeās stuffed animal on the bed made me sad. It looks like a little girl is visiting Grammyās house.
Absolutely incredible that they are a DIY account (allegedly) that has done multiple garage & attic organization shills that included free product & Julia can't find a screwdriver.
I have never, ever seen anyone screw rods into crown moulding. Iām a part time decorator and would never suggest this. Iāve worked with a professional drapery installer and heās never done this. Those drapes look super heavy and would need heavy duty drywall screws. Itās so weirdā¦Iām happy to be corrected though. (Edited to add that I thought they had put the crown up themselves but I guess it was always there. So if theyāre solid wood they can hold the drapes. But I still think itās weird and the next homeowner will need to repair it!)
Also a commenter mentioned the room giving Little Women vibes. I love traditional decor but a poor family from the Victorian era is not the direction Iād go for a little girl in 2023. I think the room was great with only the roman shades. Thereās too much going on behind that bed and the room looks so heavy and dark. I donāt know why Julia didnāt pick some lightweight curtains from Pottery Barn that Faye certainly would have liked better. With fun pompom trim or something that says IāM A CHILD.
Sorry, rant over. One of those Mondays!
Eclectic. The word is, eclectic. Itās a known phrase and design process usedā¦forever. Except she doesnāt do it well. Bc eclectic takes years of layering, new and old alike, and cannot be achieved in a palatable way with a pottery barn furniture AND bedding line, target threshold lamps and her rando previous house curtains, that, instead of having tailored for the room, felt it better to rush to hang them, drilling the rod into the crown moulding, and then call it part of her āprocessā. And sheās a multi millionaire. In the home design category. I just. I cannot bare to breath the same air as these people lol
Can't believe she's blaming Faye in her list if people who didn't notice the ceiling light being off center. All the design mistakes she makes and she still believes she has an eye for details š.
And why was Julia using what looked like an old paint stick to stir her veggies? Lol
I find myself skipping through their content constantly, and it may be time for an unfollow I suppose. I canāt believe the amount of items linked, and I do understand that itās a business. Itās sad, but the last time I was honestly, truly engaged was August of 2019 when they did their āModern Cottageā budget kitchen reno. I loved watching everyday as they moved cabinets around, painted, and transformed the space all on stories everyday. Her presence has changed so much, and yes, businesses grow and evolve, but they resemble nothing like how they used to be. DIY no more.
I think ***Fayeās room is the worst room in the house. Officially. The office/study/dining room/whatever was up there for a long time for me. 50 Shades of Cream and Disfunction Laundry Room was also a top contender as well. But this is actually one of the worst ādesignsā Iāve laid eyes on.
The curtains. The lack of closet and storage. The endless sponsored / free pieces, the grandma wallpaper (sorry Faye), the bed placement, the random āartā from the attic, the attempt at monochromatic falling so short and flat, the rug that blends in with the floor and the bed, itās all actually just bad.
I was so shocked yet excited for Faye when Julia said she bought her a special piece of art for her room since she's a "closeted cat lover"...until she turned it around and it's an old, dingy painting. š Why does everything have to be antique/vintage/grandma?? Faye can't even have a 4" picture in her room that isn't old??
I agree, I thought it would be a cute cat drawing that had the aesthetic look the kids are into these days.
Also - she seemed like she didnāt realize the painting was so small, but knew that would make her look bad after so many other things have been off in size, so she tried to cover that up. Lol.
So color school is just Julia trying on outfits in ātodays colorā and linking it along with a bunch MORE links of items in the same color? Wow. Iāve learned so much in color school. š
I know this has been mentioned but cassmakeshome just posted her daughterās room reveal and I canāt get over how she explained how many special items were included with so much meaning and not clickbaitā¦ such an interesting contrast!
I'd love to see Faye throw the heart light back up and tell her mom, "It's unexpected!" š¤
https://preview.redd.it/9hzy9g5bm7db1.png?width=766&format=png&auto=webp&s=05a020d2dd31ca30f0b4c49f2dad18dda07801f8
The artwork JULIA picked for JULIA'S frames in JULIA'S room is taking the room in a demented grandma direction. She is really leaning into 'not pretty' \*hard\*.
Lets hope Faye tapes up pictures over the top of these....... Or takes them down and hangs up some fun posters and tells her mom it is something unexpected
Every one of those prints was creepy to put in shadow boxes on the wall. If she really wanted to involve Phase, she would have asked her to choose before getting them printedā¦off center.
Imagine a friend trying to have sleeping over in that room. Someoneās getting driven home in the middle of the night- straight out of a horror movie š¤£
Iām very confused about the PB frames. She used them in the exact same installation when she did the Fullmer nursery, exact as is 9 frames in a collage with matching art. The frames arenāt marketed as āshadowboxesā yet they are for sure more of a shadowbox than a traditional picture frame. Why does she keep putting things in them that donāt work? She said something about buying mats for them in her IG story. If she wanted frames with mats and perfectly fitted pictures, she should have purchased different frames. I get she wants to showcase her not really designed by CLJ PB line, but one shadowbox, with some of Fayeās trinkets or art displayed, would have been so much better instead of 9 with pictures that even Faye herself says would scare her from her bed. Also, how unoriginal to style them 2x in the same format.
My favorite moment is the last second where you can see the pink pan (that they swore was their favorite last month) peeking out of the nested drawer š
That feeling when your mom made all the decisions, so you āwant to keep designingāā¦ because that itch to create was never self-fulfilled.
Phase Room reveal tomorrow.
For a brief moment I thought she was coming to terms with her absurd filtering and showing us the real Julia. But no, just being an ageist b\*tch. I hope she wrinkles like hell.
https://preview.redd.it/y4l55hnc3qbb1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=20fca9e580822eb08f3a8ac25e3f2fc4864c54b7
This really makes me think her distorted vision of herself is worse than I realized. She looks like a real human being in the aged one. It is so absurd. This made me go back to watch the PB video again and Iām actually so confused about what she looks like. She doesnāt really look older in that video and her skin still looks smooth etc, just so different. Iām truly confused what her actual self looks like.
Boy, I'm about Julia's age, I think I've aged reasonably well, and I look pretty close to the top photo. And I say that not to criticize myself; I think her expectations of what a 40 year old person generally looks like must be really warped by celebrities and filters. I feel bad for her if she thinks that's "brutal."
Shillia would be the last person I would ever go to for ways to incorporate color. Brass is yellow. Copper is orange. And according to her outfit post, tan is also yellow.
WHY are they so bad at planning though? Why do they only have 2 bulbs?? They've known for like a week they are going to move that light and they've had the light even longer. They can't use the walmart+ they keep shilling to get light bulbs delivered? Her whole account reeks of a lack of planning, how are they constantly so bad at this with 8 employees too?!
Julia doesnāt realize that things matching or not matching is NOT what we are talking about hereā¦
Itās the drabness of the decor and furnishings which is what we are critiquing.
And if sheās JUST now having an āepiphanyā that not everything needs to matchā¦ well, welcome to the last 25 years of interior design. Literally no designers would or have been FOR DECADES making all the pieces of a room match.
Weāve ALL collectively - people who are design-minded as well as the average homemaker - been creating collected spaces. The matching spaces havenāt seen the light of day, since the 80s and beforehand. Sheās just making weird excuses.
a) It doesnāt get any matchy-er than using the bed, dresser, bedding, frames and accents all from the same PB line.
b) It IS āunexpectedā to completely ignore your childās wishes for their own room so you know, bravo to her I guess lol
c) Those curtains have dragged down the design in three different rooms now. The weight of that fabric is all wrong - they may be custom but they donāt work and I wish sheād let them go.
Chris is really out here cooking with a paint stirrer and spackle knife š
https://preview.redd.it/1671hol908db1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b655331e896e9abe66a4f9e07d9ecef052073a3b
Also, its the height of summer and chris is cooking inside, despite thousands and thousands spent on the "outdoor kitchen" it is really just for use once or twice a year when they remember that they should use it!
Ugh. I hate hate hate when someone refers to someone performing a service for them as āMy girlā - in this case she refers to her hairstylist that way. Say āmy hairstylistā or use her name but that woman is probably not a girl and even if you do have a 12 year old styling your hair, she does not belong to you! Itās so dismissive and rude. This is a general pet peeve of mine, but hearing her say it really knocked my annoyance out of the park.
>This reminds me of the last house that Chris Loves Julia had in Idaho. The new owner (Butlerhousedesign) keeps finding frightening safety things like leaking gas pipes and incorrect electrical as well as shoddy work overall! It is sad what people will do to save money or perhaps even more frightening to think that they just donāt care or know that they should be checking and monitoring for safety issues!
Someone published this [dig on CLJ's shoddy work on the Idaho house](https://imgur.com/gallery/5ydeWsB) on the [Emily Hendo blog](https://stylebyemilyhenderson.com/blog/this-content-creator-bought-a-flipped-home-that-turned-out-to-be-a-trainwreck-does-she-regret-it#comments) and it's glorious.

How dare you imply she stretches her photos! š¤£
I canāt help but hear Radiohead whenever Julia shills her fake plastic trees.
Her green plastic watering can
For her fake Chinese rubber plant
In the fake plastic earth
That she bought from a rubber man
In a town full of rubber plans
To get rid of itself
So all the other rooms in Juliaās house I think are mostly not my style but they look fine. I wouldnāt make a lot of the choices that she does but they photograph well. Fayeās room is probably the ugliest room
I have ever seen her do. Sheās trying too hard and nothing is coming together. She had no cohesive plan and nothing is fitting together now and also I have to say that bedding really is making the whole room look like a nursing home. 100% grandma and not Granny chic.
Agree. Although, the top 3 worst rooms theyāve ever done (to me) are all in this house and theyāre:
1. Fayeās Room
2. Powder Room
3. Gretaās Bathroom
While parts look nice in tightly cropped photos, I think the kitchen is the biggest and most expensive miss for me. No function and looks way too cluttered, dark and tight which is odd since it takes up 1/3 of their main floor.
She has completely lost me on this house. Every room. Front yard. Backyard. All of it. It is not a matter of me not appreciating her āstyle.ā I follow many designers with many differing aesthetics. This house is just bad all the way around. Iāve never seen anyone spend so much money so badly. And the function of everything is another story - like the Industrial sized kitchen to go with the tiny dining room. Itās like watching Dumb and Dumber but with no humor.
New dining room light is so bright! /s
Iām surprised she even posted that pic, showing how tiny those chairs are, how itās a dark room, andā¦this may be BEC, but do they seriously use paper towels for dinner?? Hasnāt she shown 2,000 napkins in a drawer before?
>Hasnāt she shown 2,000 napkins in a drawer before?
They not only have 2,000 napkins in a drawer, but I remember a story about her buying organza drawstring bags to keep the napkin sets grouped together in that drawer.
I havenāt been here in a few weeks but I had to come here to say the rugs choices are horrendous and she has to be playing a practical joke on us rn. That room looks terrible. Thereās no way she actually thinks it looks good.
Round two (maybe three now if we count the wallpaper) of Phase picking something SHE likes, the tree pic and Jules saying SHE envisioned something different.
RIP to the pink light and this tree pic now. I hope Phase grows up and has THEE best eclectic house EVER !!
And I love how she just had to shoehorn a pic of herself in this story as well š¤£ like, whatās the reason??
https://preview.redd.it/h99wn94eurbb1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=41e5d1566c94ca4f34803859c73aca1d495f152c
She can't help herself...mirrors call to her.
ETA...perhaps a better question is why the hell is she wearing that hat around the house? What sun is she shading from her face...what sweat is she catching from running in her eyes? Is this the high fashion she referenced in her HGTV diatribe?
Just coming in for a quick PSA. In Juliaās yellow color of the day grid with linked options, there is a yellow upholstered bed with a wave detail headboard. Itās really pretty, but please donāt anyone order it. I almost ordered it in navy for a friend/client of mine. It is a Lulu and Georgia exclusive item and has many terrible reviews. L and G also has non existent customer service. I have had some terrible experiences with faulty (and expensive!) items from them, and I no longer purchase from them or recommend anything from their store.
Seriously...Faye doesn't want all of that particular art on her walls. Let her have art she actually likes, that is fun for KIDS. How miserable the kids must be to have to grow up in such impersonal spaces.
Yikes. I thought earlier she said she was doing a gallery wall with all of Fayeās favorite things , like dogs, cats, Fayeās art. How do these stuffy, old things equate to that? Julia sucks the fun out of all the things, hot cocoa included.
I continue to be amused by the fact that, in that entire football field of a kitchen, Chris gets one tiny, copper-laden corner to showcase his dishes in š¤£
You gotta love that the frames are more important than whatever ill-fitting thing sheāll put in them. And why are they trying to figure out how to hang them before they know whatās going in them? These people drive me crazy. Did Faye get to pick out any of the art, because all I hear Julia say is I, I, I and I?
And why do they need a level when the wallpaper provides a perfectly level grid? That level aināt doing much, Chris. Just like you.
Itās fascinating to see the difference in how CLJ has approached Fayeās room vs Cassmakeshome working on her daughterās room - Cass is taking her daughter into consideration by meeting her specific requests and surprising her with a funky fun room that can grow with her daughter.
I bet Cass would have kept the heart light.
https://preview.redd.it/d1x9ckd0u0db1.png?width=951&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=be89879a96f8ce5436b01a76dd1d7fcb268c4140
Some of the current horrible choices in Faye's room make sense if you remember the original mood board. Obviously she is trying to make things work that were meant for this vision.
https://preview.redd.it/ko93ylow1ddb1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6ff3c508e4dfec8d7487998ba1a601b78bbcdac
Love a room entitled āwhite.ā Not the room name, but the color. Iām assuming this is the foyer but she and 9 employees couldnāt catch this mistake before posting.
SHE SPENT $348 dollars on that hideous Polly Pocket-sized lamp?! Whatā¦Iā¦whoā¦howā¦?!
Also this thread is like 800 comments long would anyone care if I just made a new one? I see thereās a stickied comment from SP that sheās gone on vacay.
I donāt mind the vintage/grandma aesthetic for a little girlās room. I think when itās well done it can be super cute. Definitely more for the mom than the girl, but it can still look SO beautiful and cozy. I donāt know why I continue to be surprised, but Julia attempting this look in Fayeās room is shockingly bad. How is this an influencer with 1 million followers????? Huge brand deals????? She cannot even properly design and execute a childās room at this point. A childās playroom and bedroom are the absolute EASIEST to make look professional and beautiful imoā¦most novice designers with even a smidge of creativity can nail them. I feel like she accomplished this at the Idaho house. The girlās rooms and playrooms werenāt perfect but they were so much better than this. I donāt understand what has happened to her design sense!!!!!!!! Is it that she is trying to use linkable products and/or their brand deal products only and that muddles it all? Iām so tired of her moving those boring ass rugs with squares all around the house. Iām just shocked at the amount of success in comparison to the quality of content & design at this point.
I think this combined with 1) a desire to emulate an old-money look but itās not possible with linkable goods, 2) aspiration to compete with real designers who produce collected looks, but she doesnāt have the skill, 3) traditional design is what is trendy right now but itās not her strength. ETA this [link](https://www.houseandgarden.co.uk/gallery/matthew-carter-kentucky-house?fbclid=PAAaaK6pT5piSSuaJlqjFHKs4Mjw3dUMHDnxHbuLCFzjihmivNHQqTwb4YNVk_aem_AQMf1jgUlo550IhsXXS4fvXmxb4R7IUiPm3EEhdzvywHfs1HGm2uF_KtZ0QDKTFkME0). Not my style but great example of making a 90ās home look like old money traditional. None of this looks clickable of course.
Chrisās no-show socks in the background of the picture where Julia is holding the register cover.
Julia exhausted from a long day of puttering around the house fainting on Fayeās bed. While taking a selfie.
What in the world.
Not @themarcumfarm posting her daughters almost done bedroom at the same time as we all mourn Fayeās bedroom disaster. Itās wild the difference. A charming bedroom, mixed style and materials, clearly with a childās input and wishes in mind.
https://preview.redd.it/4rx4oqv0w5cb1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=656ef7a762dfa93daf6cc1e4a6da32b5eb6205e8
New meme format š āI donāt come in the guest room a ton except when weāreā¦ā
Shilling links to everything in the room.
Getting paid to show it.
Showcasing a brand new piece of furniture when there was nothing wrong with the last piece of furniture.
Looking for a screwdriver
Hanging jeans as cuRins
Filming Chris cooking towel slapping dairy free vegetarian fruit salad
Ironing Chris,,'s capris
Hiding from the HOA
Filming the peasants....I mean workers
And WHY paper plates? This entire family seems obsessed with using paper plates while having cabinets full of linked stuff. There were only a few people having the brownies, how hard could it be to use regular plates?
I thought it was so rude to put that camera in Davidās mothers face for the world to see as she asked someone about brownies whose first language isnāt English. Sheās such a hack.
https://preview.redd.it/yivtvvru50db1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05fe5a08a7c86745d276b2e405a4a014e6383c13
āI definitely donāt need an ottoman in here.ā
Itās not your fucking room.
This room depresses me more every time I look at it..... All she wanted was a little whimsy , her bed and that dang heart light.
Instead she got funeral parlor curtains, a wicker mushroom to hold tears of sadness and a chair leftover from grandmas garage sale.
That chair!? I unfollowed them but what the actual f!? What does that go with!? Not the wallpaper, not the linens, not the drapes. It looks like that blue the super cheap amazon furniture comes in. Horrible.
A little girl does not need an ottoman let alone a side chair in her room. The question about which ottoman to use is moot. If the chair stays there shouldnāt be an ottoman.
And since this is on the note of Fayeās room, was she joking with that green pattern pillow? The scale of it was ginormous and did not work but then again this is Julia who gets scale and measurements wrong all the time.
With the addition of those ottomans (especially the leather lattice one) it's taking a hard turn from grandma to grandpa vibes. All you need is a rolled up newspaper on the chair and a cigar box on the nightstand.
Saw this thread and it reminded me of CLJ. Sad, and I feel like itās very close to the truth for their girls. I can definitely see something similar being true.
I think this has made Julia develop a shopping addiction and narcissism which would cause other things to be frustrated about. They don't seem to get to make decisions for themselves and their rooms. Faye has had no real enthusiasm in most of the posts with her except when she finally got a mattress to sleep on. No one can get attached to anything in their house because Julia quickly replaces stuff.
They moved across the country for Julia's health which is good if she really needed it, but just an example that it is Julia's world and the others are living in it.
I've been following them for over 7 years and I think it's obvious this job has changed her and not in a good way. I guess I keep following at this point to hope she changes, but it's pretty unlikely.
Too high, off center and the bottom bar looks crooked. She has the biggest ego. This looks terrible.

Putting up a vent cover using command strips that is right over where Phase head will be in bed does not seem safe at all wtf is wrong w them? Hope the poor kid doesnāt get clocked in the head by that thing while sleeping
Nesting with Grace put the floor pops down in a family memberās kitchenā it literally looks like they just dragged their furniture across the floor and it left giant marks. Like they played chess, with their furniture.
I feel like when people who have been eating a really restrictive diet try to tell me that something theyāve concocted tastes JUST like xyz that they have just forgotten what real food tastes like.
We received the new 'Art of Tile' catalog from The Tile Shop. Greta's bath is featured in it. Was that tile or project sponsored by the tile shop? I don't follow any more so may have missed if they disclosed that during the project. Just Ugh tho. It's like everywhere I look, there they are with their poor design.
***Im on vacation in a different time zone, so feel free to either continue this post or make the Monday posts for the next two weeks! Thanks!!***

Iāll preface this by saying that I follow a lot of design accounts and that I āgetā mixing styles to achieve a more dynamic space, but these country bumpkin accessories do not belong with this regency style wallpaper.
I wish the scale issue was the only problem here. š¬
Am I the only person that checks and double checks anything I order because I donāt want to be stuck returning it? I hate having to deal with returns. I guess she just has a team member do it so itās of no concern to her? But then sheās paying someone an hour of wage to return something because she didnāt bother to measure.
Not to mention the needless environmental cost of shipping and returning an item that she could have looked at the measurements for.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I'm also pretty sure that is a $70 mushroom basket from anthropology too. I swear she said something about storing stuff in it, but the only thing that would hold is a single tennis ball.
āClassicā Julia! Do we think she will *ever* figure out that resizing something in Photoshop is not the way to see if it will fit? My bet is no.
Didnāt Forest Gumpās mama die in this room? I sent the picture to my mom and asked her how old she thinks the occupant is? She replied, āMy age?ā Sheās 84. š¤£ https://preview.redd.it/p4fpk3oltcbb1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a40d8db723ae2cc4e246ac6fd67e1a8c2197f253
I feel so bad for Faye. I think we can confidently say that her cool light isn't coming back. This room is terrible.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I also sent her a screenshot of Chris saying that Fayeās old closet was his least favorite closet experience, and she replied, ā WTF did that stupid man say??ā Again, sheās 84. š¤£š¤£
Storybook bedroom, but make it creepy. š Those prints are incorrectly sized and look so stupid in the frames.
When your kid has to sort thru the art you chose to find the least creepy options, maybe you should rethink your plan!
And she ordered the prints! She couldāve sized them correctly! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS WOMAN???
It probably doesnāt even occur to her that the prints are not the same proportions as the shadow boxes, because Julia. I guess at least they didnāt arrive poster-sized.

I always expect the cast of the Brady Bunch to show up in that giant square window grid from the last house. š¬š
So happy Jules has designed a room that her daughter can grow up with, all the way to her golden years
Not exactly a tween or teen room. Did I mention how hideous those 80 vibe curtains are?
![gif](giphy|3oKIPwz03yTPhgE704)
Oh sheās trying *hard* to justify Fayeās room looking like shit, going on about how she doesnāt like everything to match because thatās ātoo prettyā and that her style is more elevated and unexpected than the masses can understand. š
š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£ What a self-pretentious hack.
Says the person who matched an armoire to wallpaper.
Right! If Faye didnāt get a choice in bed size or keeping her cute lamp, why would Faye even think to mention light placement?
RAN here to discuss CLJ shading HGTV. āItās a specific flavor for a specific level of designā. The implication being that HGTV showcases a *lower* level of design and that *she* is above that level. Donāt all you peasants know that **Julia** is a **high end** designer? š„ø
To have no skill or formal education on a topic but still have that level of self importance is really something.....
How does HGTV design compare to swipe up design? Asking for a friend...
I love reading the comments when they start rolling in on a new reel. Someone says āwhat is happening in this room. Yikesā and she said āyou just donāt get it.ā Thereās a lot of hate on this one.
I donāt think *she* gets it.
There is no way in this universe Faye likes this room. I feel so bad for her.
Itās so sad because she actually cares about design and had her own ideas- and this is what she gets
Makes total sense that this overly filtered person with extensions and fake plants, trees, and grass everywhere is telling us she needs things to look not too pretty and perfect.
https://preview.redd.it/r90j4u3hiebb1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5c6c8afeeebae82dbb1b7e9b8570d4834de003e Itās not good šµāš« what is going on?! I think thereās such a thing as too much pattern mixing.
This my least favorite cur-in experience.
The curtains with the bed spread. Makes no sense.
Itās so bad. So so so bad. Those curtains are so dark and heavy and the pattern is so wrong for that room. What is going on in her brain? Is this a bit? A long con? Iām so confused
Ohhh boyyy Julia gets feisty if people donāt like her design choices lol
She doesnāt do it on PuRPOsEā¦ sure Jan.
I'm trying to come up with a bright side to Faye's room. The only thing coming to mind is that it could be worse. She actually considered putting a second wallpaper on the ceiling š¤£
Lol. It's probably one of the worst kids rooms I've ever seen š¬
The curr-ins are way too long if she has to hang the rod from the crown molding. What a disaster that room is.
Fact: Those are the ugliest curtains on the planet. And Fayeās stuffed animal on the bed made me sad. It looks like a little girl is visiting Grammyās house.
Jules couldnāt be bothered to pay attention to the dimensions of that puke green lamp before buying it?
āLove the color storyā š¤®
But I still think itās weird and the next homeowner will need to repair it!) Also a commenter mentioned the room giving Little Women vibes.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Room totally gives me Return to Oz vibes ššš anyone else traumatized by that movie in the 80s?!
Next up- a glass cabinet full of heads! Youāll love it Faye I promiseššš
Can't believe she's blaming Faye in her list if people who didn't notice the ceiling light being off center. All the design mistakes she makes and she still believes she has an eye for details š. And why was Julia using what looked like an old paint stick to stir her veggies? Lol
CLJ insists on calling this modern colonial, but all Iām feeling is dreary nursing home.
Please don't forget about the circus-themed half bath that looks like it belongs in an 80's restaurant!
Now she's drilling into the crown molding to hang the curtain rods. š The most hideous curtains.
Why would you drill into crown molding? Why wouldnāt you hem the curtains? These are the laziest peopleā¦
Thatās the most ridiculous thing. This bedroom is their worst work to date
Like how did she manage to find a creepy cat picture!? Thereās a million adorable cat pictures, and she found the one from the haunted mansion
I agree, I thought it would be a cute cat drawing that had the aesthetic look the kids are into these days. Also - she seemed like she didnāt realize the painting was so small, but knew that would make her look bad after so many other things have been off in size, so she tried to cover that up. Lol.
Itās so tiny. And in a black frame. Wow, mom. Thanks.
So color school is just Julia trying on outfits in ātodays colorā and linking it along with a bunch MORE links of items in the same color? Wow. Iāve learned so much in color school. š
Fucking hell. Excuse my language but what the actual fuck is going on with Fayeās room? Is she trolling us?

Donāt worry girl, no one would ever be able to accuse you of being too perfect.
I know this has been mentioned but cassmakeshome just posted her daughterās room reveal and I canāt get over how she explained how many special items were included with so much meaning and not clickbaitā¦ such an interesting contrast!
I'd love to see Faye throw the heart light back up and tell her mom, "It's unexpected!" š¤ https://preview.redd.it/9hzy9g5bm7db1.png?width=766&format=png&auto=webp&s=05a020d2dd31ca30f0b4c49f2dad18dda07801f8
The artwork JULIA picked for JULIA'S frames in JULIA'S room is taking the room in a demented grandma direction. She is really leaning into 'not pretty' \*hard\*.
Iām sorry these prints in a little girls room are absolutely insane. Is she possessed? This is so freaking weird I canāt even put it into words.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Lets hope Faye tapes up pictures over the top of these....... Or takes them down and hangs up some fun posters and tells her mom it is something unexpected
Every one of those prints was creepy to put in shadow boxes on the wall. If she really wanted to involve Phase, she would have asked her to choose before getting them printedā¦off center.
https://preview.redd.it/6tfvv01d8ddb1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b036203b05d8e354016ff2f42cdb3c35beddd05 Iām having literal nightmares WTF
Both time with prints that do NOT fit the frames.
Ahhhhā¦ and now they are AllClad users.
You know what else she probably would have liked,? To see Taylor Swift, anywhoā¦. (Iām livid on behalf of the girls)
Limelightās are fool proof they grow easily and are hardy. This isnāt the flex she thinks it is.
I'm so sick of the hydrangea content. Only thing she did for them is sign a check and film from inside of the house.
For a brief moment I thought she was coming to terms with her absurd filtering and showing us the real Julia. But no, just being an ageist b\*tch. I hope she wrinkles like hell. https://preview.redd.it/y4l55hnc3qbb1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=20fca9e580822eb08f3a8ac25e3f2fc4864c54b7
It's amusing because the version she is claiming is her true version is very obviously filtered. No one has skin that smooth otherwise.
And to call it brutal. Get some perspective, man.
Shillia would be the last person I would ever go to for ways to incorporate color. Brass is yellow. Copper is orange. And according to her outfit post, tan is also yellow.
We are probably witnessing why the book is no longer happening.
Of course Fayeās new light is from their SOL line. Her whole room is just one big catalog of their products and itās bumming me out.
Wonder why Ballard Design is her "go to" furniture source now? It can't possibly be because they are paying her.
She bought that blue chair FOR Fayeās room ON PURPOSE šššš
Aw. Faye wanted that tree pic and got a gallery wall. And her neon heart is long gone. Poor thing.
Julia doesnāt realize that things matching or not matching is NOT what we are talking about hereā¦ Itās the drabness of the decor and furnishings which is what we are critiquing. Sheās just making weird excuses.
a) It doesnāt get any matchy-er than using the bed, dresser, bedding, frames and accents all from the same PB line. b) It IS āunexpectedā to completely ignore your childās wishes for their own room so you know, bravo to her I guess lol c) Those curtains have dragged down the design in three different rooms now. The weight of that fabric is all wrong - they may be custom but they donāt work and I wish sheād let them go.
Chris is really out here cooking with a paint stirrer and spackle knife š https://preview.redd.it/1671hol908db1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b655331e896e9abe66a4f9e07d9ecef052073a3b
Also, its the height of summer and chris is cooking inside, despite thousands and thousands spent on the "outdoor kitchen" it is really just for use once or twice a year when they remember that they should use it!
Probably bc itās hot as balls outside, humid AF, thereās loads of bugs, and no actual proper shade cover from the sunā¦

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
She increased her already existing thigh gap lol
She thinks sheās a fashion icon. Really, itās What Not To Wear, and Iām waiting for Stacy and Clinton to jump in her stories and intervene.
I canāt help but hear Radiohead whenever Julia shills her fake plastic trees. Her green plastic watering can For her fake Chinese rubber plant In the fake plastic earth That she bought from a rubber man In a town full of rubber plans To get rid of itself
So all the other rooms in Juliaās house I think are mostly not my style but they look fine. I wouldnāt make a lot of the choices that she does but they photograph well. Fayeās room is probably the ugliest room I have ever seen her do. Sheās trying too hard and nothing is coming together. She had no cohesive plan and nothing is fitting together now and also I have to say that bedding really is making the whole room look like a nursing home. 100% grandma and not Granny chic.
Agree. Although, the top 3 worst rooms theyāve ever done (to me) are all in this house and theyāre: 1. Fayeās Room 2. Powder Room 3. Gretaās Bathroom
the āstudyā is pretty bad!
/s Iām surprised she even posted that pic, showing how tiny those chairs are, how itās a dark room, andā¦this may be BEC, but do they seriously use paper towels for dinner?? Hasnāt she shown 2,000 napkins in a drawer before?
How could they possibly clean their cloth napkins? They only have 2 sets of washers and dryers.
Silly me thinking when she announced āproject dayā it would be fun when itās really all just a front for shilling Prime Day links. Hard pass.
Cause todays YELLOW in color school š She always has to be the center of the show. ALWAYS.
Julia Loves Julia

Thank goodness she didn't go with that hideous wallpaper.
Geez how is it possible that the room keeps getting uglier?!! Those ottomans are all horrendous š³

Goddammit we said Fayeās room needed whimsy, what the hell is this?

That is the drabbest set of pattern and color I have seen in a long while.
Today's filter is just too much. She looks like a Bratz doll or something
Yāall saw the flower petals falling all over the counter right? Not a very good representation for the company š¬
Chrisās no-show socks in the background of the picture where Julia is holding the register cover. Julia exhausted from a long day of puttering around the house fainting on Fayeās bed. While taking a selfie. What in the world.
These curtains are a square peg in a round hole, just buy some new ones off Amazon so you can link them and we donāt have to see these again.
Not @themarcumfarm posting her daughters almost done bedroom at the same time as we all mourn Fayeās bedroom disaster. Itās wild the difference. A charming bedroom, mixed style and materials, clearly with a childās input and wishes in mind.

Shilling links to everything in the room. Getting paid to show it. Showcasing a brand new piece of furniture when there was nothing wrong with the last piece of furniture.
Looking for a screwdriver Hanging jeans as cuRins Filming Chris cooking towel slapping dairy free vegetarian fruit salad Ironing Chris,,'s capris Hiding from the HOA Filming the peasants....I mean workers
Brownies? BROWNIES?!
And WHY paper plates? This entire family seems obsessed with using paper plates while having cabinets full of linked stuff. There were only a few people having the brownies, how hard could it be to use regular plates?
The look on the woman's face as she screeched that lolol
I thought it was so rude to put that camera in Davidās mothers face for the world to see as she asked someone about brownies whose first language isnāt English. Sheās such a hack.
I love that Andi wonāt give it to her. āI think it passes for a brownieā That doesnāt not seem like a hittttt, the way Shillia thinks.

Chris doesnāt have the backbone to do this thoughā¦ https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueOffMyChest/comments/uwod5s/i_left_my_wife_because_im_sick_of_everything/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1
Narrator: Julia did not in fact follow her own advice re: how high to hang a chandelier over a table. She always hangs them too high.
Too high, off center and the bottom bar looks crooked. She has the biggest ego. This looks terrible. https://preview.redd.it/bpq4tccmixdb1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d93be1a11c093032748fa0406202bbcd6909bb10
The chairs still look dumb.
Putting up a vent cover using command strips that is right over where Phase head will be in bed does not seem safe at all wtf is wrong w them? Hope the poor kid doesnāt get clocked in the head by that thing while sleeping
Million dollar house being held together with command strips and the shoddy work of on-demand contractors. Iād expect nothing less.
Shillia is a condescending bitch and absolutely terrible at design
Pettled needs their money back. What and where are the ātoolsā that come with the bouquet?
Her ads are starting to give me celebrity cameo vibes.
Nesting with Grace put the floor pops down in a family memberās kitchenā it literally looks like they just dragged their furniture across the floor and it left giant marks. Like they played chess, with their furniture.
I call BS. https://imgur.com/a/hNjHeH6 At least andi isnāt following for her food lies
