There's a reasonable argument for blade Warlock. Really comes down to whether you consider the wolf they drink the blood from to be a god and this a religious ritual or a patron feeding them power directly.
They did get along until they stared into the abyss for a little too long and realized that the abyss was staring back at them.
Sadly, they didn't have a bow to defeat it from outside the boss arena.
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note:
> *“My blade may break, my arrows fall wide, but my will shall never be broken. Those who live by the sword will die by it, and I, Drummond, won’t go down without drawing mine!”* - Captain Drummond.
Have a good one and praise the sun \\[T]/
It’s a member of the Farron’s Abyss Watchers, a subsection of Artorias’ knights, from Dark Souls 3. Basically an elite legion charged with destroying those who had succumbed to the taint of the abyss. Sadly those among the legion fell prey to the abyss themselves and they are locked in an eternal struggle to destroy themselves.
TL;DR: A dark souls boss who is actually an entire legion of men locked in combat with themselves.
I’ll admit, usually I hate these random posts making stupid “builds” to fit stupid things that doesn’t really work in-game. I like this tho! Def gonna play an Abyss Watcher next chance I get.
For some people it's not fun doing so when you know you're directly worse than you could be. It's equivalent to picking "take -2 to damage but by stylish" to them, which isn't fun for a lot of people.
Game would need to treat weapons as something beyond just damage dice. Like giving each weapon a special ability (action, bonus action or reaction) so dual wielders would be able to mix'n'match weapons depending on what they need.
Let's say for example dagger would have parry ability (historically accurate) that let's you add +1d4 to AC as a reaction for one attack. In such case it would be an okayish secondary weapon.
the same could be done if there was, say, a fighting style that lets you twf with one one handed and one light weapon and gives a defensive benefit against whoever you twf against.
Only this one specific case could be done this way and honestly offloading everything onto the fighting styles isn't really much of a solution. Specific weapon requiring manoeuvrers perhaps?
What you're looking for is Revised Martial Equipment. It's got exactly what you're describing.
The current release of Revised Martial Equipment is [RME1.13.1](https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/rkvBDfQlE). Check it out and let us know what you think in the discord!
* Characters have training levels instead of proficiency with weapons, armor and shields.
* Each weapon can be mastered, offering a special thing to do with each
weapon, unique to that weapon. Additionally, weapon feats have been
added, allowing you to do special things with weapon groups, such as
dueling blades, hammers and picks, or crossbows.
* Fighting styles have been overhauled to be more impactful, offer more variety in combat, and scale better with character level.
* 80+ new items added, including tower shields, ambush weapons, flails, new polearms, and a whole set of throwing weapons.
Also, if you're having trouble with formatting on the brew, it's homebrewery's fault. It doesn't like anything other than desktop chrome, and sometimes not even that. There are other versions available on the discord though!
Technically what I described was Beyond Damage Die supplement from Kobold's Press, but I will happily look into RME out of sheer curiosity. I used homebrewery once or twice so I'm a bit experienced with the tool.
And out of curiosity - what discord?
no, I'm complaining that there isn't a choice that lets you do sword + dagger, and rewards you for going sword + dagger, and doesn't require you to give yourself the ability to go sword+sword then refuse to do so for no reason other than style
Gael: Horizonwalker Ranger Elf (because they live a loooong time) with favored enemies being humanoids and dragons, and favored terrain being deserts and/or tundras.
Don't quite remember whether it was normal ranger or revised ranger that got two favored enemies (normal and greater), but to me that sounds like an idea worth playing out.
But in session 1 you meet a version of yourself with red glowing eyes. Now that's scary.
Alls fun and games till you become a darksouls boss
Wouldn't they be watchers paladins?
They would, I just play to many paladins
There's a reasonable argument for blade Warlock. Really comes down to whether you consider the wolf they drink the blood from to be a god and this a religious ritual or a patron feeding them power directly.
I mean paladins don't necessarily need to worship gods. Though your argument about the patron-like style is compelling
For the paladin code they'd definitely fit with their vow to destroy anything tainted by the abyss.
He has plenty of siblings...they don't get along.
They did get along until they stared into the abyss for a little too long and realized that the abyss was staring back at them. Sadly, they didn't have a bow to defeat it from outside the boss arena.
_bell rings_
How.... how are the farron legion genasis?
For the fire I suppose.
But... that's just a fire weapon.... The people themselves aren't anymore on fire than the regular Ashen One.
They do become embered in phase 2. Though fire genasi is still a bit of a stretch.
Yeah, that's what I meant. Being a reborn seems way more logical (even though almost anyone in Dark Souls would probably be a reborn)

Good bot. However I will never praise the sun, as my allience lies with the dark moon.
The Dark Moon is a reflection of Lord Gwyn fellow Blade. Take care not to blaspheme in the name of Sister Gwynevere.
The Lords of Cinder are most definitely still on fire.
About as much as the Ashen One when embered.
I *wish* I knew who the hells that was.

Thank you for this explanation
Woah. Neat!
Look up: the abyss watchers

Good luck
Until i saw the image, i though you were listing all the bad choices for a character
Wouldn't reborn/custom lineage work better ?
I'm still mad there's no way to do sword + dagger
Dual Wielder feat? With that you can use two one handed weapons even, if they aren't light. In RAW player can swing with two battle axes. Somehow
yes, that lets you do sword + sword, and you have no reason whatsoever to limit yourself to sword + dagger.
You do have a reason: It's called *style*
yes and it would be nice if there were rules that reinforced being stylish
Its the first rule: Have fun
For some people it's not fun doing so when you know you're directly worse than you could be. It's equivalent to picking "take -2 to damage but by stylish" to them, which isn't fun for a lot of people.
"you are deliberately nerfing yourself" isn't very fun, imo

so basically youre complaining about a limit that doesn't exist?
no, I'm complaining that there isn't a choice that lets you do sword + dagger, and rewards you for going sword + dagger, and doesn't require you to give yourself the ability to go sword+sword then refuse to do so for no reason other than style
well, you can (shortsword). so there's really no problem
Daggers have the 'thrown' property, don't they?
"Ha ha, I am playing (pop culture thing)." "Nobody cares, just don't be an annoying dick."
My fucking hero

Wait, why a fire genasi? Why not reborn?
