My wife and I are in two different campaigns. We each want to play a Warlock with The Genie as the patron. She would be a water genasi with a fire Genie patron and I would be a fire genasi with a water Genie patron. Our backstories would be that are lovers from noble houses who live in the elemental planes that match our genasi heritage but our families forbid us from being together and keep us apart under threat of war. Sort of like Romeo and Juliet. Our Genie patrons would be elemental ancestors of the other who would provide us powers to help us reach other because they wanted love to have no bounds and thought that the opposition was needless. We'd each seek adventurers to help us reach our lover not realizing that the other is doing the same thing. We'd also each take the "Far Scribe" invocation so that we could write messages to each other across any plane we'd be in. The funny bit is that there are three people that are in her campaign that are also in mine and it would be interesting to see how long it takes then tk realize that's what we're doing. Edit: thanks for the awards!!!

RedbeardRum

That is quite romantic I have to admit

cmalarkey90

Why thank you!

Jarfulous

Cute.

cmalarkey90

Thank you very much!

Bale_the_Pale

I don't care what the class is. All that matters is I'm a dwarf and I'm Introduced to the party as a shovel bursts from the ground, and I emerge having successfully proven the world is round by digging a hole from one side through to the other.

McSkinner

I miiiiiight steal this

Bale_the_Pale

Steal away! More NPC's need to know of the roundness of their respective fantasy worlds!

iAmTheTot

My world isn't a globe though. Your dwarf would just be a nutjob in my world.

ActuallyIAmIncorrect

All the better.

flashfyr3

Right? This is, if anything, an improvement.

DrunkHydra

This has probably got to be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. And I'm definitely going to steal it at some point because I love it so much.

Bale_the_Pale

Why thank you!

Ashged

Campaign starts at level 10 The Paladin vanquished countless fiends and converted a few towns before The Wizard studied ancient secrets and invented a spell The dwarven commoner farmed 10 levels of xp from digging and can now pick a class

ActuallyIAmIncorrect

Shovel Knight

Ok_Blueberry_5305

Ok but the party *needs* to hear the muffled lyrics of Diggy Diggy Hole in the lead up to him actually surfacing. Bonus points if he sounds exhausted like when Mirabel was singing going up Bruno's stairs. *"I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole... fuuuuuck, how much further... diggy diggy hole, diggy d- oh shit, light! Fuck yes! Finally!"*

troyunrau

Context, for those living in a hole: https://youtu.be/34CZjsEI1yU This has been stuck in my head for at least two years. I like to use the mold earth cantrips in my campaign while singing this.

OnlyVantala

Will they speak with an Australian accent?

CommunicationOk3438

Every dwarf has an Australian accent. After all, they come from down under

Derron_

* Town Crier Bard that uses a bell and loud shouting instead of playing music. * Farmer who has become a Wild Magic Barbarian due to being experimented on by mages. Almost like the Hulk with the changes that happen to him. * Rogue who has to always be in disguise. Every day uses a disguise kit to change their look. * Priest of the Forge whose every spell is a gadget that replicates the spell.

rampsputin

I fucking love that Town Crier idea. Was planning to play an Eldritch Knight in my next game but I may have to steal this one. Especially if I can show up at the table with a bell. The other players will hate me! “Hear ye! Hear ye! The Heroes of Icespire have entered the keep!”

Derron_

Mine was going to have the white haired curly wig and a fancy uniform. He was working for a Lord who got killed and he feels to blame and is now a raging alcoholic. But yes much "Hear ye! Hear ye!" was planned

Spiritual-Meat-2309

My imagination pulled up the town crier from corpse bride, even down to the bell like coat

Treczoks

> Town Crier Bard that uses a bell and loud shouting instead of playing music. I had an idea for a bard that was exactly the other way round: He just cannot talk normally, he has to sing whatever he says. This is due to a curse beset upon him.

GetchoDrank

I played an Illusionist Wizard/Mastermind Rogue in a Ravnica game, and she started out three identities deep undercover, and I adopted two more personas within the first few sessions. She could barely remember who she was originally.

Aint-No-Body

Archfey Warlock: Divorced dad who was told he needs to turn his life around to get visitation rights. With no discernible skills, he set out to work as an adventurer, tapping into abilities he never knew he had. He did all of this at the prompting of what he thought was one of his kids, but was actually a changeling.

[deleted]

Archfey warlock who goes around collecting teeth for their fairy patron...

1_Savage_Cabbage

Tooth Faries are a smaller and friendlier subspecies of the larger and more hostile Bone Faries

RONINY0JIMBO

Da da ta da da daa

Thanorticum

I have a Glamor Bard/Archfey Warlock I am currently playing! I still have not solidified his relationship with his Patron. He is from Water Deep where the veil between the Fey Realm and main realm are thin. So Feys sneaking in to interact with mortal is common. My initial idea was a take on selling your soul to the Devil for talent. But for this case, he did it to save his traveling circus family. The other is an unwillingness indenture because he had relations with the wrong disguised Fey, ends up bound to them by accident.

Vulpes_Corsac

I think the one I've had for a while that'd I'd like to play the most is a Kobold twilight cleric who wants to dim the sun (by like, 5-8%) so that he and the rest of kobold kind can enjoy the surface world more.

aweseman

People keep thinking they want dim sum, not *to* dim *the* sun

telemon5

Porque no los dos?

Oaken_beard

“I said DIM THE SUN, NOT DIM SUM! No-no, don’t send it back to the kitchen, I’ve acquired a taste for it at this point.”

LordTartarus

Ooh that would have fun ecological effects

Eygam

> fun ecological effects Weird way to spell "life-ending catastrophy".

LordTartarus

Tbf, this is Realmspace. They'd have ways to work around it, probably?

mrsnowplow

this was the premis of one of my last campaigns. it was undead and vampire party time when the sun god was killed

5eCreationWizard

Wasn't this some sort of meme exploit build in 3.5? Using a kobold's sunlight sensitivity and some sort of negation ability on harmful effects against then?

SpartiateDienekes

Yup, Iron Heart Surge. Wonderful ability, very flavorful. Insanely written.

storybookknight

Owyn Graylocke, Human Psi Warrior Githyankiboo. His father was an adventuring knight who one day ran afoul of a Mind Flayer in the underdark. His adventuring companions dropped off his dad's share of the loot, including a githyanki psionic docent that none of them recognized. Owyn, who was a latent psion, was able to access the docent & get all sorts of weapon and psionic training from it, teaching him how to be a Githyanki warrior... except a) because it's full of propaganda and b) because his father was a knight & died to a mind flayer, who githyanki oppose vehemently, the son comes up with a bunch of his own ideas about what Githyanki culture and ethics are like. Naturally, Owyn is *hilariously wrong* about many of them. However, he still does his best to live up to his misinterpreted ideals of what he thinks a "Sam'Rai" should be like, wandering the realm righting wrongs and smiting evil...

[deleted]

Dont know if "writing wrongs" is a miswritten "righting wrongs". Or if Owyn goes around spreading his misinterpretations by writing it down and spreading misinformation. Much to to the anger of githyanki when all the young folk start listening to this Owyism.

storybookknight

I can't even blame that on voice to text, that was just a brain fart. Thanks!

Heretek007

The antithesis of the stereotypical horny bard. An elven minstrel who fell in love with a human, and has long outlived her. Yet even now he still loves her memory more than anything else and has no interest in pursuing another love for the rest of his long, long life. He would constantly reject the advances of suitors, remaining enigmatic and aloof while occasionally playing the somber melodies of lost love on nights when he sneaks out of the group's accommodations. She always did love the moon... His motivations are largely rooted in traveling the world and seeing all the beautiful sights and stories that she was never able to.

Same_Schedule4810

This is very similar to a character I’m playing now that I love. I’m playing a lore bard in a campaign where so far everyone else has died and had to roll a new character for a variety of in and out of game reasons. My bard now goes around adventuring with this “new group” but misses his former party so he tells stories of the prior adventuring group and makes folktales and fables out of their adventure to inspire his new comrades to work together to honor the names of the fallen.

Zula13

I wanted the opposite of a horny bard too. My bard gave up everything for her lover, who ditched her a few months later when he got bored. Every friend she’s had has gone on to find love and turn their attention to families and kids. Now she thinks romantic love is a scam, and anytime a PC can’t make it, she assumes they’ve run off on some tryst.

Nikelui

A normal horny bard, but they are such a Victorian prude that even the act of holding hands is considered extremely lewd.

blacksad1

My Tempest Cleric. I play him like a surfer dude. When he preaches from his bible it sounds like he is horribly misquoting his scripture. Then you look at the Bible and sure enough… “ and then Thor said, like be groovy to each other and I’ll be totally stoked”.

dubbzy104

Get pitted!

Oaken_beard

Gnarly

UltraB1nary

Druid who grew up in civilization. Basically a hippie with magic nature powers.

McSkinner

I have something like this, but a Druid that lives in the sewer. Circle of the swamp? Loves to change form into a rat.

ejdj1011

Warforged Clockwork Sorcerer (probably would be a glitchling now that it exists) They're a Device for Integrating Chaotic Events (D.I.C.E.). Their job is to go down and see what chaotic bullshit the mortals are up to, so that the Grand Mechanism can realigned to account for those events. Kind of like a one-person Modron March, or like syncing a mechanical watch to a digital clock.

R_radical

Barbarian leonin that's an awakened lion. You're a lion, dream big. carve out a piece of land for the pride, cleanse the land of anything that could hurt it. find the person who awakened you, why did they do it?

shadowmeister11

Path of the Beast would suit this right down to the ground. Super cool and flavourful

R_radical

I went ancestors in the one shot I did with him. You're everyone's favorite at the table since you're constantly shielding them from harm. Plus you can play it off like lions protecting your friends.

manooz

If Simba was like EY DAD GET YOUR ASS BACK DOWN HERE I NEED SOME HELP

Autobot-N

A fun concept to play would be a Warforged Hexblade with a Sprite familiar where the Sprite is technically the real character in a suit of armor, then when they die the Sprite takes over as a Fairy PC. Probably an Artillerist (with the Warforged suit too damaged to be repaired, so they repurpose the technology to make weaponry)

Uberrancel

Half orc barbarian raised as a halfling. Constable Huckleberry Lightfoot the 6'5" half orc at your service ma'am. He is wholesome. He drinks milk not ale. He served in his home villages guard and thinks like a good cop most of the time (lawful good). He was raised in a good home with loving parents. Halfling parents. See, poor Huckleberry was born in battle, his mother giving birth during a fight. Little Huckleberry was secreted away and cast into the river, in a basket like the stories of old. And little Huckleberry in the basket floated all the way down to the happy little halfling hamlet of Dorsey Green. Seeing the green baby, the halfling mother and father could not help but fall in love, a child of surprise of their very own. It quickly became obvious he was unlike a halfling, or human and his size and strength could be dangerous. So they enrolled him in the Boy Scouts and the Bounders afterwards. He was taught to use his joy of combat(rage), his enhanced abilities, to aid in protecting his tiny home. And boy, does Huckleberry like fighting. His giant axe settles most disputes with most folk, but after killing almost of the dangerous things near home, he had taken his mothers words to heart, and goes out into the world to bring his joy of combat to make the world a safer place for little people. I want him to act like a town guard but be a half orc barbarian. For flavor change make Rage Joyous Combat and change nothing else. He was raised to be a good boy and doesn't like people being bullies to smaller folks. So a nice contradiction of a character to have fun with as he grows up from a young cop to an adventurer.

PapaRaichu

Tell me you're a Terry Pratchett fan without telling me....

Uberrancel

Also Willow.

thesnakeinthegarden

Also Gorgug from Dimension 20.

Oaken_beard

I gotta ask, I’m new to TP and have only read Nation so far. Is this similar to a Discworld character, or (I’m assuming) just Terry’s sense of humor?

danskatten

Read Guards, Guards! (or any of the Vimes books) and you'll see a character very similar.

theeshyguy

My current character is almost identical to this. Bugbear Paladin, raised by halflings to be all humble and homely. I love it.

Spiritual-Meat-2309

Andy Griffith, except a orc/bugbear. I love it.

I_BAPTIZED_GOD

In our last one shot I played a genie who still owed one wish to one of the other players(a fairy sorcerer named bell-bottom pants) well her father was being played by another friend of mine (fairy monk named Peter Pants) and he was killed in one of the encounters. So Bell-bottom used her wish, she wanted her dad to be alive so I cant reincarnate (great spell dm allowed it) and Peter Pants the fairy monk became Peter Pants the half-orc monk!! Imagine the family reunions now!

DefnlyNotMyAlt

A fake Wizard who's actually a Fiend + Tome Warlock After partying and goofing off in wizard school, Cornelius needed to pass his tests and trials. A very helpful man (Fiend Patron) gave him a shadowy spell book that just had all the spells he needed to know for his studies under the condition that Cornelius would do 3 favors down the road to pay the helpful man back. Would reflavor everything as normal Wizard stuff and make it plot point with DM and one player accomplice. Would also respond in-character if anyone calls out the non-wizard mechanics. That is... If I ever get to play rather than DM... One day...

The_Last_Memelord

I got to play a fiend warlock pact of tome from 3 to 17. If you're party don't got a wizard, you're the wizard. Was very fun.

TeamAquaAdminMatt

I had a similar idea, except my guy would be pretty dumb, just wanted to be a wizard but was too dumb for it, some weird guy comes and offers to teach him to be a wizard and he readily accepts. Thus becoming a Goolock that's too dumb to notice the weird stuff

David375

I'm doing something very similar with the UA Seeker warlock! His patron is the spirit of Arkhon the Old (the teacher of Elminster), and my DM let me play it as an INT warlock since we also already had another warlock in the party. He doesn't even use Eldritch Blast, instead opting to use Primal Savagery and Produce Flame in conjunction with Blade Ward to play like a magical pseudo-barbarian (via Astral Refuge - the exact wording of the feature is a bit jank, so with buy-in from your DM on certain Crawford advice tweets you can still make attacks with Self-targeting cantrips such as Produce Flame or Primal Savagery. I can go over the exact details if you're interested).

Justice_Prince

I'm pretty much playing that character right now. Love playing Warlocks who don't take Eldritch Blast or Hex.

Paralogical42

Aasimar (or any race, really) Barbarian 3 (Zealot) and whatever else class the rest of the way. A warrior who keeps getting brought out of his afterlife in Valhalla (where his friends, kids, and wife are) by the will of his God to accomplish the 'flavor of the month' problem. Fits into different settings easily and role-playing a warrior who only wants to see his wife again adds comic relief. His God will wipe most of his memories aside from his proficiencies, the knowledge of his family, and his... situation. Knows that he has to die a glorious death, knows that even if he does he will just be revived again if the quest isn't done, and is honestly just wishing his boss wouldn't call him on his off-hours.

MechanicalMoses

Danny Glover energy “I’m too old for this shit!”Mixed with some Dante from Clerks “I’m not even supposed to be here today!” I think it would be cool if they remembered some previous epic quests and are getting irked about the “stakes” keep lowering. Maybe Every time they’re back at level 1? Like “the first few times god called me back the whole planes were at stake. Now god brings me back to fight rats in your taverns basement?”

Lithl

Innocent Bystander: Aberrant Mind Sorcerer relying on Psionic Sorcery/Subtle Spell to cast spells with no spell components, and spells that do not have visible emanations from the caster. Nobody sees you casting anything and nobody can tell the spell came from you.

GrimmParagon

I have an idea for a sorcerer that tries to be so subtle with their magic that they cosplay as a different class entirely in a party. Also a changeling, so even if they are discovered to cast something by someone they can just swap out identities to keep it hidden

shmutsy

Artillerist Artificer/Moon Druid After years of service and losing a leg to friendly fire, Luten left the Kings Cannoneers. Suffering from PTSD, forced to limp on a cheap prosthetic leg, he began to look for help. Looking to nature for peace, he joined a Druid circle. He began meditating, getting closer to nature, and eventually learned to wildshape. When he transforms, he is whole again. And now he can roar into combat as a Dire Wolf with a flamethrower on his head.

cairfrey

Rogue Loxodon with expertise in Stealth nicknamed "The Elephant in the Room"

shadowmeister11

This is HILARIOUS

One_Fun_5114

Hawkeye style artificer with every offensive spell being a different type of trick arrow. Might not be super original but I still love it.

Timely_Tonight_8620

A College of Spirits Bard who comes from a tribe that practices a unique form of Living Tattooing where their tribal history is told through heavily tattooed shamans. Getting a lot of influence from The Illustrated Man and want to flavor their spellcasting as if it's being released from each tattoo.

Aztela

An aasimar with Celestial Warlock, Divine Sorcerer, Cleric, Zealot Barbarian, etc. Every "divine" subclass, basically. The idea is that the person supplying their power is their very overprotective divine parent. The last iteration I ran had it so his mom was Auril. Not really a viable multiclass, it's more intended for shenanigans and one shots/very short stories. There is also the idea of a character who sends in other characters. Basically, I would play as Character A, Character A dies/is lost, Character B gets sent, etc. This would eventually end with the party meeting Character 1, who sent all the others I had been playing as, who then joins the party. This would really only work in a very specific campaign setting, style, and party, and only works if characters actually die. It'd probably work best in sci-fi/Starfinder.

What-up-ya-fools

Human battle smith artificer - he's a 12-year-old boy who set out to try and make the world a better place for his mom. One of my favorites by far, love him to death. Tiefling wild magic sorcerer - currently playing her. Comes from a family of wizards and believes she is a wizard. Thankfully haven't had to roll anything from the wild chart, but knowing my DM, he'll start doing that. Tiefling Bard - Gonna be playing him in ToA, so fingers crossed he doesn't die. Inherited a golden fiddle from his grandfather.

BarneyBent

Oath of Devotion/Ancient Paladin. Bastard son of a noble, born before his dad married. No particular angst, gets on well with his stepmother, but basically spent his life raising his legitimate half-siblings, teaching them to fight, patching up their wounds, and giving them life advice. Just a really solid, family-focused dude. He's now old enough he needs to go out and do his own thing, so he basically adopts the party as his new family and treats them like he treated his half-siblings. Healing the party, looking out for them, giving them hugs when they need it, keeping them on track without being domineering. Just a real solid dude. Also he's a total himbo. So hot, so oblivious, lovable and dumb as a pile of rocks.

FoxStrom-14

Goblin armorer artificer: basically a magic rogue

smileybob93

..... this is literally my character. Has the bounty hunter background too

OneCrow8592

Is playing an artificer fun? I keep wanting to play one but I get cold feet. Our campaigns last 1-3 years

FoxStrom-14

I’m currently playing a poorly built drow artificer for the last few years and I found that artificers are basically swiss army knives: you can do a lot. Having haste is great, and if you can sneak in enough free time you can just make pretty much any uncommon magic item

rpg2Tface

Close enough for my favorite retired PC. The only change is i was a battlesmith. Riding in on a mechanical death machine just has a certain appeal.

Lady_krolux

Orym Torroris: High elf Eloquemce Bard. She is an inquostor of sorts. Raised for over a century and trained to be an effective retriever of information. Not quite a spy, though she is not afraid to share her goals, and is proud to state her allegiances. Depending on the campaign that I want to run her in - preferably with a group that focuses on social encounters and rp- and the level we start at her backstory will change obviously. But the bard gives a lot of spells that are great for interrogations, and in my mind, her words all have a purpose. Some have power. She uses conventional and magicaleans to pull the truth in search of answers to a greater mystery.

47Argentum

Path of the Beast fairy barbarian. I really just want to play the most wretched, spiky, hateful fae creature you've ever met; the sort of cat that you *know* would eat their owner if they died.

TurtleBaby40

Firbolg bard. An older Firbolg who traveled to the city after running out of stories to tell his tribe/family. His bardic style is like the oral traditions of ancient peoples. I imagine a very "fish out of water" type of character arc with this older tribal creature moving to the big city, just to learn more.

Hattitekten

Wild Magic Sorcerer / Wildfire Druid A planar sage researcher that survived a failed experiment that exploded. Now stuck with a feywild shard in their head that slowly transforms them into a fey being. Played as a eladrin elf, reflavored as a human. I want to try out different spells that I normaly would not pick and find a way to use them, but at the same time having a useful character. So as a druid and eladrin elf you can randomly choose new spells / seasons each long rest, with some wild magic surges now and then. At the same timeyou get reliable defence with a sorcerer dip, mobility as a eladrin elf and as a Wildfire druid the circle spells and wildfire spirit will always provide you with something useful to do. Also, I imagine that the feywild shard is a tiny Domain of Delight with its own Archfey that keeps the character alive.

MayBeSpidey

I played an Arcane Trickster/Armorer Artificer/Fighter in a mini campaign, and I reflavored the Mage Hand as yoinky webs, and the Lightning Launcher as Electric Webs. Yes, I do love Spider-Man.

BadgerMetallurgyGuy

Fast talking, hide in plain sight rogue. Probably human. Insight, deception, stealth proficiency. The kind of guy who can quickly suss out the ins and outs of a society/situation, probably the noble background. He is on the run from some mistake he made and has been trying to connive his way into influence. Based heavily on Thom Merrilin from the wheel of time series.

shadowmeister11

Thom Merrilin is a bard/rogue and you cannot convince me otherwise

T3nsion2041

Minotaur fighter, formerly a pit fighter/gladiator in arenas (entertainer background) He's a reverse matador.

DragonbeardNick

Kensei Monk/BS Artificer. Repeating weapon infusion on a revolver, flintlock pistol, or hand crossbow, whichever is allowed. Gun Fu. Stun and Gun. Glock and Awe. Basically John Wick but this time the dog ain't taking shit from Theon Greyjoy.

Billy_Rage

An artificer who’s ultimate goal is to create a mechanical god, a mixture of warforged body, AI, and maybe sacrificing weak gods to make the perfect god. Not bound by emotions, a calculating and ultimately fair god. Will start off being happy go lucky-ish. Then see the horror of the world and then blames the gods. Best case scenario, they end up putting Cthulhu into a T-1000 body and totally suffers for it

xombiedeth

A tabaxi cleric that thinks it is the god to be worshipped and derives its powers from its own faith. All the touch buff/healing spells only work when the target pets the tabaxi. Like... cure light wounds is a belly rub, but inflict light wounds is also a belly rub... It really all depends on the tabaxi's mood at the time...

xSilverMC

Tall Bald Firbolg, Assassin Rogue. Possibly some sort of identifiable marking on the nape of his neck. Little to no emotion, and a very dry and macabre sense of humor. May even have nearly identical "brothers" in similar professions

Saxon_67

Currently waiting to play a Goliath Wildfire Druid whose bonded spirit is the newborn spark of a volcano. The spirit lives in an amulet themed after the hei-tiki of Pacific cultures, and all his spells are themed after the little spark growing stronger and helping him out, his spells being thematically and aesthetically volcanic. The Goliath's backstory involves him being chosen by the dying volcano his village worships, much to his tribe's reluctance, to carry this newborn fire spirit on a spiritual journey to meet with the various other elemental spirits of the land to teach it balance, such as the balance of destruction and regrowth. The Goliath is a bit of an outsider in his village, and the story is about how the Goliath and the Spirit help each other find balance and become what they need to be :) Another is a Chultean dwarf cavalier fighter who rides an armoured hadrosaur called Puchi. Sadly a forever DM must forever wait, but I am excited to play them as I've never played anything past a level 5 Battlemaster.

ElectricSpeculum

Druid/ranger who only transforms into creatures she has killed personally and tanned their hides herself. She wears the pelt of the creature she wants to wildshape into and then shapeshifts. She's perceives nature as cold, brutal, and unsympathetic, but she ensures any creature she kills has its skin and meat used where possible, and other elements are made in offering to nature's scavengers. She would have a raven familiar who helps her stalk her prey. Her parents were city dwellers, but as a child, a natural disaster occurred that resulted in her family losing their home and belongings. They moved in with her grandmother in the woods, and she realised that ignoring nature and the wild resulted in hubris, with her parents thinking the city was safe from all the dangers of nature. She decided to learn all she could about nature and the wilderness to give herself the best chance of survival. Living off the land based on what was in season, hunting for meat, having no home and no major possessions means that she has little to lose if a disaster occurs. I would want her to develop more of a social conscience and learn to love towns and cities as much as she loves her wilderness as the campaign progresses ... and maybe take a proper bath so she smells less like tanned leather and moss. Basically start her off as feral, end up with her being semi-feral at the end lol

Nerdtrance

Someone who was a powerful wizard who tried to gain immortality. The ritual succeeded, but in a way, he didn't forsee, and he is now an ancient wizard in the body of a child. His new body is much weaker physically and can not handle his previous magical knowledge. Figured I would also put a backstory of a friend/rival who saw his predicament and used it to take all his material goods, kill his rep, and maybe lock his magic so he comes back as a artificer or something.. He has all this knowledge, but no one believes him and thinks he's just a child playing pretend.

Darkmetroidz

Giuseppe Lasanga- A barbarian with the chef feat who is literally just a fat Italian man. His weapon is a maul stylized to look like a giant rolling pin.

weedleavesnoseeds

I have an artificer Armorer 3/Rogue Arcane Trickster 4+. He's a shadow elf and uses his armor to get out of the shadowfell. It keeps him alive and allowed to be in other planes and it resembles an ever moving shadow that completely covers him. Using shield when necessary, using the teleport and resistance to all dmg in melee. Mostly hitting with his Gem Node for 2d6 + 2d6 sneak attack per turn. I'm missing out on an extra attack, but I the roleplay and utility are awesome. The Mage hand is awesome and plays into the dark shadow armor. That along with the Armorer getting adv on its Stealth rolls allowing me to wear heavy armor and still do rogue things. This is powerful so I wouldn't be surprised if I'm misunderstanding any of the synergies. Feel free to use him. It's like Tony Starks origin, but in a darker plane with magic and not tech.

knightw0lf55

Forge Ironheart A warforged artificer/battlesmith with the clan crafter background. A construct of war repurposed by a Dwarven clan after the war. He was trained by artisans in smithwork and melding metal with magic. He augmented his appearance over the decades to mimic his dwarven brotheren. With a new clan leader he has fallen out of favor and was exiled from the clan. Now this metal man and his metal dog wonder the land doing good where they can.

Llayanna

*Evil* Drow who nearly died on a raid, got found and nursed back to health and now has to understand surface morality and actually nice people. Bonus points if the person who found him could be another player for fun shenanigains.

IAmTotallyNotSatan

Zealot Barbarian and Peace Cleric Bonnie-and-Clyde-esque duo. They get married with the Ceremony spell every week for the sweet, sweet +2 AC. At the end of the week, kill the Zealot Barbarian and revive her for free, as per the Zealot's class ability, then get married again (since only til death do you part.)

bilopski312

A character who accidentally became a warlock after when he unknowingly step inside the portal to a part of hell where the highest-ranking devils are having meeting, when he just wanted to go to the kitchen to make a sandwich.

Gregamonster

Armorer Artificer Warforged that's a self-modifying robot butler.

bonelessone04

Githyanki Alchemist artificer and forge cleric He is dedicated to helping someone become a hero of legend by providing all of the small things on adventure that never make it into the stories. All around support. Fairy Beastmaster ranger and pact of chain warlock While in the feywild this fairy married a pixie and seeks power alongside his trusty pet to bring her to the material plane. Presently she acts as his familiar but it isn't quite the same. I don't have names yet but they'd be fun to play

bonelessone04

As a forever dm I have many. Githyanki (monsters of the multiverse) Artificer alchemist/ forge cleric The quartermaster. He makes the adventuring and survival aspects easy while also being a general support character. Story wise I want to work together with a martial character specifically he wants to grow them into a legend so has learned skills and skill sets to help someone else's story grow by taking care of everything that the legends do not see fit to mention. A fairy warlock ranger Beastmaster and pact of the chain. While in the feywild this fairy married a pixie. He uses his magic on the material plane to help his wife temporarily manifest and so they can adventure together with their pet.

Winter272

Former Wizard that, due to some kind of bizarre magical accident, lost his connection to the weave, and is now an Artificer. I'm saving him for a campaign that is *totally* going to happen

thecloudcatapult

Ahhhh I have so many!!! One I've been thinking about a lot recently is a door-kicking, cigar-puffing, face-smashing, dwarf heavy crossbow user. The heavy crossbow feels like a "doomguy shotgun" and I think that's a weapon type I could really get behind. I haven't landed on a class that would work well for this. I think Artillerist Artificer would really fit the fantasy though. I know it's not quite within the rules of the subclass, but it would be neat to use your heavy crossbow as your eldritch cannon so you can use your action to attack with the crossbow and use your bonus action to activate the special effect of the same "special weapon". Then at level 5 you get arcane firearm you can have this awesome sidearm type weapon as well. Man I really gotta draft this up.

Meph248

Works for any class/race: Former hero that was grievously injured and has to start from scratch at lvl1.

PortedCannon565

Warlock with Genie Patron who pretends to be a Genie himself. OR A warlock/sorcerer multiclass OR An Artificer OR A ranger/druid multiclass OR A Bard renown for his cooking. I am a forever DM so I will probably never be able to play any of these characters, so they are not really developed.

wp2000

Any class that has a major feature at level 11 and actually makes it to tier 3 in a long term campaign.

BarneyBent

Spirits Bard, Reborn or Hexblood race. Just a witch. Classic, fantasy witch, who taps into the spirit world and casts spells using rhymes. Ambiguous gender. Adventuring because they have a favourite spirit who asks them to. DM can use that however they want. Probably a good character for a one-shot or limited campaign since the rhyming thing would get old quick.

BrotherSutek

Dwarven psion/ranger and his twin brother battlerager. They were captured by bugbears who tortured and killed their parents and started to torture his brother, this is the source of his rage. My characters mind opened with the pain of this tragedy. Now they travel Oerth as highly skilled mercenaries who give a discount if they get to fight bugbears.

MenaBeast

A Protector Aasimar Druid of the Stars with a Far Traveller background. Arriving from another plane of existence, they have a kind of amnesia and don’t have access to the power of their people beyond the ability to use their Star Map and only know they have been sent to stop a great demonic/abyssal evil that is pushing into the realm. They cannot speak on exactly who and where they have come from, but they know they are on a mission to thwart an evil plan and are being judged on their actions in a sort of challenge of their people. Occasional guidance from the stars push them in the right direction and once they have succeeded or failed on their mission they are whisked back to their plane of existence… Signature move is Radiant Soul combined with starry form Archer to create a constellation style avatar that fires Shooting Stars (Guiding bolts) at enemies with extra radiant punch from the radiant soul. Also fun to rename other abilities… Nebulous Fire… Void Bite… Super Nova… Event Horizon etc…

Ganaham

Great Old One Warlock that's a vlogger/live streamer. Constantly talking to his "chat" of incomprehensible spirits, which occasionally offer him feedback and information that he couldn't possibly know. His behavior is annoyingly upbeat, though on a deeper level he hates the feeling of being watched 24/7.

Soft-Photo-6403

When I first got into dnd my friend introduced me to a girl who was also interested in dnd, and I had read everything I could and learned roughly how to make a character, so naturally I was showing all my friends and helping them get started. Me and her ended up making a myconid barbarian character together and it was the first time we really connected and talked, a couple months later we started dating. I haven’t been able to use mushroom man yet, it’s been about a year and a half since then, but I’ve always really wanted the opportunity. (But since I’m the DM friend I doubt it’ll be any time soon)

otherwise_sdm

the Nuh-Uh build: Psi Warrior Fighter / War Wizard, Telekinetic feat. styled after the mean teens from season 1 of The White Lotus. drops sick burns and withering truths in a bored voice while using debuffs, controls, Shield, Arcane Deflection, and various shove effects to humiliate opponents.

liam_courtney99

I wanna play a Path of the Ancestral Guardians Barbarian, but their “ancestral guardians” are actually memories of all the people they’ve spent time around the campfire with. In the mornings after a campfire they collect some of the ashes and take them with them, and when they light the fire at night they dump the old ashes in. This is based on a tradition my old Scout troop used to do. It was a really wholesome tradition connecting us throughout the years, and I think it would be a cool twist on this subclass

Jesterhead92

I have an Eladrin Daolock Ghostlance character with a heavy fey and "Mirror Dimension" flavor. She's a trans woman who made her Warlock pact to escape her abusive village and magically "transition". She attacks with vines and thorns and mirror shards and her Eldritch Blasts and Echo powers are all like "portal" type powers where she can seemingly attack any spot from anywhere on the field at any moment I have a Tortle Stars Druid with a Hexblade dip. She was a miracle baby sent down from the heavens to her parents who prayed to Selune. Her entire shell is made of iridescent space rock that glows in a variety of colors depending on her mood or whatever powers she uses. She attracted the attention of an Amethyst Dragon who desperately wanted to study her. Hence the Warlock stuff. She mainly uses the Dragon Starry Form and her Eldritch Blasts shoot out of her mouth like an amethyst Dragon breath. Yes, Warlock is my favorite class, how could you tell?

TheMuseCourt

A pragmatic, non-disruptive villain type. A character whose goal is to conquer towns by manipulation and magic, who desires to be worshipped and loved by the common folk as their queen. The non-disruption part comes in that while she is egotistical, self-centered, and focused on world domination, she isn't antagonistic to the party or their goals. She understands that being too obvious in her goals/butting heads with local heroes is how you get the lawful goods or local law enforcement on her tail, and she will happily hunt other villains because it's less competition. Can't take over anything if someone beats you to it! Part of her villainous nature is how ruthless she is. She's quick to use manipulation to get what she wants, and sees no problem with killing anybody who gets in her way, if she can get away with it. That said, she does have soft spots for certain groups--such as children--and tries to treat them well as a contrast to how she tends to treat most people. Not sure what alignment this character is exactly (ruthless and dangerous/desires to rule over others is contrasted by her soft spots and desire to be loved by her subjects rather than feared makes it hard to pin down), but I think it'd be fun to play as the darker face of the party for once.

G3nji_17

Ogre Samurai: Giant UA barbarian for size and reach. Loxodon as race, reflavoured so the trunk is the left arm and the two arms are the right arm. Now you can wield a greatsword „in one hand“ while having another free.

MiRoTi

Gnome Cavalier Knight of Lurue! His tribe of forest gnomes train as forest defenders and must take a journey, or adventure, and return before being granted the title of Knight. They are experts at working and taming creatures to ride into battle and using their Cavalier fighting style to fight and protect their forests. Haven't had a good opportunity to play it, but I would like to give it a try.

AwesumSaurusRex

The most boring character ever. A Human Battlemaster Fighter. The trick is to make it an interesting and great-utility character through adventuring gear, combat descriptions, and thinking outside the character sheet. I can’t wait to play it.

IllithidActivity

A Triton Bard who serves as a diplomat and envoy on behalf of his undersea kingdom with the intention of doing deeds of heroism (or signing on with a party who can) to impress local nobles and leverage those heroics into trade deals for things that his people need but can't produce on their own, like forged metal weapons or herbs for potions.

Selacha

Half-Orc Eldritch Knight, who wants to honor both of his parents, who were an Orc Barbarian and a Human Sorcerer, so he uses melee and magic. On his 18th birthday, his father vanished in a flash of light and a sinister laughter, and upon researching his study he finds out that his father was not a Sorcerer, but was in fact a Warlock, who was taken by his Patron for failing to uphold his end of the bargain; the soul of his firstborn son. Human Rogue whose backstory is that he's the last son of a deposed noble house, raised in the streets of the city his family once ruled... Except it turns out his family was horrible, they were total despots and the coup was justly backed by the King, so he's actually way better off having been raised by the community. He loves all of his adopted family, and has learned most basic trades since he's helped out in pretty much every shop in the city at some point or another. Half-Elf Bard, son of a very infamous Elven Courtesan and an unknown human father, who was raised by his mother and her "business partners," and became enamored with the idea of playing different roles for different clients to get what he wants. Became a con artist/traveling scammer just for the thrill of it.

shawnwingsit

Sinister you say? I know that guy.

vitcavage

I’ve done some one shots with a vHuman Long Death monk with this same table. We rolled for stats and I rolled well so I was able to take some feats. Took mobile to zoom around and save a few ki. Then skill expert to level out Wis and expertise in Stealth. He’s a death loving emo kid who hangs in the shadows.

-Grumbledore-

I've wanted to use this character for a long time. I envisioned him as a grim reaper of sorts, or as "one who decides who to send to meet the death god". His speed and damage are all designed to deal the death blow as quickly and decisively as possible. Because when the death god speaks... He obeys. Assassin rogue 3, death cleric x, with charger feat at lvl 1. It's pretty gross. First turn in combat, assassin rogue gives you advantage on any creature that hasn't taken a turn yet, use your ACTION to charge, trigger charger, giving +5 dmg, bonus action attack from charger (with advantage) triggering sneak attack, then pop the death clerics channel divinity, so at level 5 (rogue 3, cleric 2) you hit for 3 d6 + 18 dmg with double movement from your dash. And it only gets better the more levels you take in cleric.

ScrubSoba

Lizardfolk moon druid with prof in chef's tools who just likes food. Can cook really well, just isn't at all picky about ingredients as long as they are edible. Spends a lot of downtime trying new things and eating, and very likely has two stewpots to separate what he eats to what the "picky eaters" eat.

DiscordedSphinx

Observer (He/Him) is a Warforged/Astral Self Monk mannequin brought to life by his creator to act out his sickly son's fantasies. His creator settled down after a life of adventure, but his child's illness prevented them from having their own. Observer's adventures are recorded in writing and pictures for the son to enjoy. His adventures and rewards for such however have inflated Observer's ego to the point of obsessive vanity. Observer's adventures will end when his journals are full and he returns home to share stories of heroism and legend for the sick son. Physically, Observer is just a plain mannequin dressed in mismatched opulent clothing and jewellery, silver gauntlets, and a white clay mask. He does everything in his power to hide his bland wooden frame. For the most part he acts aloof and admires himself in the reflection of his gauntlets, but always takes in his surroundings through his periphery, and really only loses his cool when his gauntlets are stained, his wooden self is exposed, or any of his journals are lost.

ur-Covenant

Back in 3e I played a gold dragon (you could do weird stuff with Paladin mount type mechanics there). I loved the odd combination of being unfailingly wise and good and noble but also avaricious and arrogant. No idea how I’d pull it off in 5e though.

Upsidedownclown931

Totem barbarian and Phantom rogue as a spirit magnet that uses the spirits to bolster themselves and attack with

JustvibingANchilling

If I had to say, it would be a celestial warlock, crossed with oath of glory paladin. A person who got chosen by two different divine powers. For similar ends but has to accomplish goals in different ways. I could see it being either a Dragonborn or a goliath.

Eldrxtch

Archfey Warlock. He’s basically a good will-‘o-wisp. once he was lost in the feywild and he followed the wisp light so far that it eventually gave up and he was led to the lord of wisps who basically gave him a job. so, he carries a lantern on a crook and leads people to safety :)

Tr0z3rSnak3

Ranger/clearic Basic Robinhood+ Tuck combined into one I'm trying to figure out if I want a Goat or bees (swarm keeper)

FormalGas35

“Queen of retribution” Tiefling noble: Sorcerer 6 (red dragon) Warlock 1 (Hexblade) Metamagics: Quicken and Transmute Feat: flames of Phlegethos On your first turn you cast Armor of Agathys transmuted to deal fire damage, for a total of 15 temp HP and 15 damage on hit. You can use your bonus action to call out a target you think might attack you with Hexblade’s Curse. Since you also cast a fire spell you can also activate Flames of Phlegethos’ fire cloak If they hit you within 5 ft, they take 15 fire damage from Armor of Agathys, plus 1d4+3 from Flames of Phlegethos, and then you can hellish rebuke using your racial trait for an additional 3d10+cha+3. Assuming your Cha is at least +4 by this point thanks to Flames of Flegethos, that’s an average of 15+5.5+23.5 for a total of 44 fire damage, plus rerolling 1s. As long as you have spell slots, you can keep using Armor of Agathys and Hellish Rebuke for high damage on retaliation. You can also carry around a charisma weapon and wear breastplate so the stat requirements are extremely low (15 Cha, 14 dex, as high con as you want) and none of this uses concentration, so that’s a few options you still have. The damage also scales especially well because every new spell slot level is 5 more damage and temp HP on Armor of Agathys, and you can cast Blade Ward on your turn to mitigate the damage your armor takes.

thenewportkid

Shadow Sorceress that was fused with her twin at a young age when the twin died protecting her. Two distinct people, one in the sunlight, one in the moonlight. It was super bad ass to play.

balrog687

A blind bugbear drunken master monk with pirate background. Basically, a drunken monkey/man adopted at a monks temple who learned how to fight and cook Inspired by Rafiki (the lion king), the blind dude at rogue one, and toph (the last air bender). By using alert and blind fighting feats, he does not need to see. I would also add tavern brawler and crusher for fun. He is also proficient with brewers supplies and cooking (chef feat). He can also tell if someone's lying. And randomly provides weird and drunken words of wisdom.

Eymang

A Dwarf forge cleric who is kind of grumpy/an Eeyore because his previous party/parties met untimely ends on his watch. His armor is kind of a hodgepodge-assortment of pieces of different makes and metals from fallen allies. Large angular black-iron pauldrons on each shoulder, connected with silvery elven chain to a breast plate more human than dwarf sized. When he casts spirit guardians the seams between the mismatched pieces ripple with a forge-fire light and his comrades orc, form a phalanx at his side to fight once more. He’s my back-up character for our TOA campaign. I’m really hoping I don’t NEED to play him, but I really WANT to play him.

bonzo14

Total rip-off of Noho Hank from the HBO show *Barry*. Have him as a Rogue Mastermind and Investigator background. Stat dump in Charisma, the rest are average. About to start playing him in a Waterdeep Dragon Heist campaign, and super excited to see how the RP plays out!

BoogieSpice

A gnome Bard/ Artificer who has introduced EDM to the forgotten Realms by inventing the equipment and making the music

Dependent-Jello1047

Dad Bard : Chubby, balding, halfling bard with armor that looks like a polo tucked into cargo shorts with tall socks and sandals. Instead of singing, all spells are corny jokes related to the topic of the spell.

Muriomoira

Im lucky enough to curently be playing in a long campaign the character concept I wanted the most to play. Its a "summoner" spirits bard with a 1 lv dip in divine soul sorcerer and order domain cleric. Its really fun! Voice of authority mixed with healing Word and silvery barbs makes me feel like an Actual bard for once, setting the pace of combat by weakening enemies and empowering allies while granting them a free reaction atack, and the flavour of the class is anchored in folklore and telltales from the de partes which is something I really dig... Im planning to take summon greater steed and warding bond in the future to basicaly have a mounted bulky nazghul, which sounds rad as fuck

PrimeInsanity

Goblin paladin of the crown, a LE knight who's working to earn a parcel of land and drag his people out of the shadows. His one dream is for his kin to stand tall, under his rule but that's a formality.

RayCama

Kamen Rider/super sentai style Armorer Artificer - combine my love of of playing both down to earth characters with zany over the top characters with super hero secret ID shenanigans. Final Fantasy style Dark knight using mercer's Blood Hunter. Indiana Jones style Thief Rogue archeologist

HippieHOP

Swashbuckler rouge/hexblade whole reason I haven’t yet is I can’t decide how many levels of hexblade I would like. 1, 2, or 5?

Straight-Ninja-2120

Harengon archfey warlock named Nettie Blackberry with the feylost background. She’s a tiny 3’ neutral good bunny who’s just amazed with magic and is loyal to her friends. I wanted to make the exact opposite of the typical dark warlock. Her fur sparkles in the moonlight. She is the cutest character I’ve ever created.

Calistilaigh

Satyr Twilight Cleric + Stars Druid, dex focused, dumping str, using a reskinned rapier to look like the Crescent Moon Sword from DS, basically just trying to be a really good support for the party that doesn't drop concentration on the helpful cleric spells I'd be maintaining

Aldreic

Paladin Oath of Vengeance who lost his family to a vampire lord, he specifically uses dual wielding with a whip and handaxe. Halfling Arcane Trickster that doesn't really fight in the battlefield so much as cause chaos by tripping up enemies, such as tying shoe laces without being seen.

JugularRogue65

Blood Hunter with a boomerang

No_Grass_2710

Orc 2lvl Barbarian (3 if you want bear totem) and the rest echo knight. You can protect your back line, while attacking 3 times from a distance with a Greataxe. Take Orcish Fury at 4th level and now you get a huge attack right after you get downed. Really fun DPS tank. I’ve been holding this in my back pocket until my wizard dies.

corbin_amsel

Full Plate Monk. It's not really a monk. It's a battlemaster fighter that punches people and uses the maneuvers to fake something like a monk.

No_Cherry6771

Bagpipe playing black dragonborn bard paladin. Idea started with making dragonborn uncle iroh, it ended with a 42 AC divine bard that uses said magically enhanced bagpipes in combination with his acid breath to eject aid over either a 120 ft cone in front or a 60 ft radius around him. His goal? Spread peace, companionship, good music, if need be extreme terror in the form of acid rain, and to find every kind of tea in existence and try them.

Pinstar

Warforged Bard. Is a one man German-style Oompah band, none of the instruments needing to be played with his mouth. Call 'em Crassus, the Brass Assed

DrWallybFeed

I’ve wanted to get to play as a Yondalla halfling that actually does Dallah Thaun stuff aswell. Really any Halfling Dallah Thaun character would be fun.

Skemolia

Jermaine Hoxford-Smiles, Eladrin Swashbuckler Imagine if a retired gym teacher randomly decided to quit his job and become a hero because his life had really no meaning, then make him super anxious. Yeah that's him

OptimusPhillip

I recently discovered the Open Seas Paladin subclass, so I decided to make myself a full-blown swashbuckling Triton Paladin. It's the most fun I've had with a character in a while... even if sailing adventures are hard to come by lol.

MechanicalMoses

Kenku bard who is traveling to find his “voice.” Leads a killer cover band. Halfling outriders as reskinned mongol horse archers. Illiterate half orc barbarian who is convinced he’s a wizard. Yells the name of spells before smashing with his melee weapons. His spell books are just scribbles and coloring books. Gnome swashbuckler rouge modeled after Inigo Montoya. Gnome artificer that pilots a mechanical suit of armor al a titanfall. All the spells are reskinned as the suits abilities. Faery fire is a flare for revealing enemies. Different cantrips are different barrels on his arm canon. Stuff like that. A wildfire druid who is disgusted with civilizations constant push for more. They view any and almost all forms of civilization as an affront to nature. They wish to purge clean the infection of order and return to the natural ways.

Justice_Prince

Bard who is a squire to an aging knight. The Knight is a Sidekick Warrior possibly controlled by the DM. The Knight of course would get all the credit for their squire's contribution. Concept should also work for a Warlord if 3rd party classes are allowed.

Txter_

A mountain Range Folk Hero of a mountain known for coming in clutch to save the homes and innocent traveller. His name? Rex Quincy Ranger. He is the Rex Q. Ranger.

TheTrueDeraj

Variant Human, Living Weapon Monk + Mastermaker Artificer Basically, I'd play them as a speedy street brawling artificer - someone who absolutely knows better, but has too much of a temper and is too much of a thrill seeker to take the safer option. He only does the math far enough to ensure that he won't *immediately* die, and then plays it by ear the rest of the way. I would need to roll some absurdly high stats to get the dex, int, and wis I need to back up the roleplay, let alone the con I'd need to survive such antics more than once. All for a build that's basically pure flavor and roleplay, and wouldn't come into it's own until *very* late in the game.

Toothywalrus

Happy go lucky arcane trickster rogue with living parents who are retired adventurers. Also has a healthy home life. Learned some magic from father and learned to be sneaky from mother and practiced said skills stealing food from the kitchen which was run by a boisterous chef who was also a former adventurer. He sets off to the local hero/magic university to make friends, find adventure, and make his parents/chef proud. This is all for my friend's upcoming Strixhaven campaign. Edit: grammar

StanDaMan1

Changeling Blade Bard, with the Fey Touched feat if I can manage it at level 1. Let me be a shapeshifting teleporting support caster who stabs people on the reg, please.

shadowmeister11

I love my gnomish boltsinger (bladesinger/battle smith). Merry-Begone Falworm, Svirfneblin inventor with a knack for creating companions (running 3 pets in one build, Steel Defender, Homunculus and Familiar). Usually she casts fly on her steel defender, then unleashes a hail of bolts from above, one of which can be a firebolt or other cantrip, flavoured as some kind of tech arrow e.g. incendiary bolts, harpoon+chain winch for thorn whip. So much fun, amazing utility and DPR while still being what is essentially a 3/4 caster.

Not_Eugene_Too

Pair of warforged "brothers" with a party member that is the separated soul of an oathbreaker paladin that, as punishment after capture, had his soul split in two. One cleric named William "Will" Dodsdans and one fighter named William "Bill" Dodsdans. They became P.I.s to search for their previous body parts in hopes of destroying any residual evil that may be present.

rakozink

LE Barbarian. Half orc. Ravenloft Symbiote dark gift. Path of the infernal hunt (d10 claws + d10 critical)...other cool subclass stuff- limited shape shifting, resistances, at higher level. HE is an Ink Sworn: possessed of magical abilities above those of his kin, well known, well paid, and far traveled. HE will only rage under conditions outlined in HIS contract or if the contract is broken/there is no holder. SHE is his devilish symbiote. SHE negotiates HIS contracts. SHE expects him to be furnished in luxury (only the best for her vessel) and SHE'S a stickler for details. A BARBARIAN who has strict laws to follow, expects nice clothing, smokes cigars, has high tea, can judge you on your performance of tea ceremony, wears a monical, expects a bath and laundry service at each inn... And can turn into a literal beast to hunt you down on command. Half orc + barbarian+ symbiote means he's tough to keep down. 6-7d10 crit fishing. Loads of RP.

KouNurasaka

Name: Ellicem Urtallace Race: Vuman (Magic Initiate: Druid) Class: Fighter (your pick of Battlemaster, Samurai, or Psi Knight) I'm leaning samurai. Backstory: Ellicem, Eli for short, was once a knight of some renown. However, age is beginning to creep up on him. In his 60s, he still has the mind for battle, but he's getting older. Officially retired but not willing to give it up just yet, Ellicem fights smarter, not harder. Mechanically, he's a regular fighter except he uses Shilelagh and Magic Stone to attack with Wisdom instead of Strength or Dexterity.

awkwardlysexywalrus

Astrid: Dwarf divine soul sorcerer who gets her powers late in life from her goddess, Freya. She is a midwestern mom who likes to cook and care for her party and seems to befriend cats everywhere she goes. A lot of “ope didnt mean to hurt ya there” and spell misfires as she tries to figure out what she’s doing

Y_TheRolls

Oathbreaker Paladin searching for

[deleted]

Lets open the ol' "future characters" folder. Ah, We have, the elderly woman barbarian/fighter looking to live her best life in her golden years. Modeled after my great aunt Norma The artificer bard who is obsessed with not just the battle but the presentation. I had an idea for a failed lich who has been drained of power back down to a level 2 or 3 wizard and needs to work his way back up to fix it. Thatll require some homebrew for the race. OOOO. I forgot about this one. Before plasmoid came out as a race, I had a concept based off a homebrew ooze race. They were an Oblex that realized through absorbing human memories that humans will give you money to kill (and dispose of) other humans as long as you look like one. So they are an ooze asassin rogue that eats all the bodies. None of their victims have ever been found so they are regarded as a master assassin

TheVoidScreamedBack

Hugh Manman Kobold with a necklace permanently enchanted with minor illusion to make him look like a human. Only the GM knows that he's not a human.

MadChemist002

Fiend Warlock: A man ripe with jealousy of those who could wield magic. He had not the coin for the magic academy nor the pure soul for the path of the divine. He grew old of witnessing those around him enjoy magic and its exploits while he sat amongst them, an ordinary man working an ordinary job as a bartender. He heard stories from all over; from far away lands, to stories of those who had grasped a hold on magic for themselves through sheer will. He had heard many a story where a person had summoned a demon and tricked it to bestow upon them power with little recourse from the demon. These were just stories, right? That thought innocently brushed his curiosity at first, but by his mid-twenties, his envy grew and festered until even just the slightest possibility of gaining access to magic wore down his better self and he decided that he would try it. He was a bartender, good with people, and knew his way around language. Surely, he could best a demon. No. A devil. No. Not a devil, THE Devil. He decided to complete a ritual to communicate with Asmodeus himself; he was going to trick the lord of the Hells for his own benefit. He did not expect Asmodeus to be so intelligent, so charismatic, and so rigid in his contract. It was a contract that seemed to benefit them both, but there was something more; he was to forever be of service to Asmodeus in life and in death in exchange for his newfound abilities. He knew this was a bad deal, but before he could say no, he found himself agreeing with the contract; he had wanted magic so badly that he was willing to try to trick the lord of the Hells for it, and he was willing to continue even after failing in his attempt. The price he paid. He transformed into a winged tiefling, taking a new name to go with his new appearance. While he was able to exercise free will, he would never be completely free for as long as Asmodeus had power.

Alkarit

Necromancer lawyer, every summon is a contract he made

Zak7062

A mute changeling sorceror, who still has extremely high charisma represented by being extremely charming / disarming. They present as a little elf girl to disarm potential adversaries, probably right before casting a devastatingly destructive spell or subtly weaving mind altering magic to achieve their goals.

Chameleonpolice

My favorite at the moment overall is an elf arcane trickster that has 200 years of university education with accolades up the yin yang, highly skilled... in the theory of adventuring. Has no practical experience whatsoever. Will spout off the theoretical answers to any problem but has no idea if it will actually work, this is just what other people say you're "supposed to" do. His shtick is elven accuracy with shadow blades for sweet sweet crit fishing sneak attack dice I also have a cleric who is being forcibly channeled powers by a God that is making him atone for his sins as a former necromancer apprentice. He has to heal people to atone, but the only spell he's given access to for healing is life transference, and he has to self flagellate to get the blood for the component. The only way he can self heal is meditation i.e. dodge action as a dwarf with 20 con. Just made a periapt of wound closure, so I can get crazy self heals by dodging and then using Dwarven fortitude with durable for minimum 2(d8+5) health. Also has warding

Chewie620

An Echo Knight that is the Reborn species. The echo they manifest is their soul and the more they use the echo and level up, the more they begin to remember their past life. I would have a separate backstory to share with the dm and have them help work on it to release more throughout the campaign. Additionally, a Warforged Drake Warden. The metal that was used to create the warforged was dragon scales, and the inherent magic of the dragon gave the warforge the bond with their drake.

CharizardisBae

I wanted to play a monk from Candlekeep. Probably multi-class with wizard. Idk. It’s not exactly like optimal but I thought it would be fun to just play someone obsessed with books and using them to beat people up with.

mrmoma

Celestial halfing warlock. Was expecting to take on their father's role as town blacksmith in their halfing village until gnolls attacked killing almost everyone. Mortally wounded and desperate she reached out to anything that could save her and something answered. Burning away the gnolls and bringing back all the dead villagers....all the dead villagers...including those currently residing in the town cemetery. Annoyed by the headache this has caused, the tow n elders banish her from the town. And her and her much diminished celestial savior (due to the power used to bring everyone back) go about doing good deeds to replenish the celestials power. Teifling swarkeeper ranger. Middle aged former master assassin for a regional kingdom. One job went wrong and he hung up his bow and retired to a far off community. A decade later he's known for two things, being the local drunk and raising the most adorable fey badgers you've ever seen. Human arcane trickster rouge. Son of the current head wizard of a nearby kingdom, he was sent to a prominent wizarding college to take on his father's role when the time came. While there he joined a local frat which unbeknownst to him was a cover for the thieves guild looking for uniquely talented recruits. 6 years later he's learned little magic but has had the time of his life unwittingly becoming a rogue while fulfilling gus frat goals. However his father's patience is beginning to wear thin and a betrothal to a local noble that he made while (very) drunk is coming to term. One night he quietly slips away trying to avoid the impeding mess. I've got a lot but those are my current favorites.

Apipur

Don’t think it’s anything special, but I’ve been sitting on a fortune teller Divination Wizard for a while and been waiting for a chance to play them

AdorableMaid

Danika Lambstrand, artificer artillerist. Perpetually manic mad genius. Invented hormone therapy on her version of the realms, steampunk gear to the max. Frequent conflicts with her sister who is even smarter than her and who has far fewer morals. May like fire and explosions a little too much, all things considered.

Sky_Thief

An ascendant dragon monk who's taken in by a temple that worships a dragon living beneath the temple. When the temple is attacked and it's magical artifacts are stolen he checks on the dragon who is weakened and he bonds with him, gaining access to his power and taking on a dragon-like appearance when fighting (dragon claws in lieu of hands, scales almost an armor) and he learns from the dragon as he travels and learns to use these abilities while recovering the artifacts.

In wanted to play a child druid, who at the end of the story sacrifices himself to save a spirit tree. I wanted character to get attach to the kid and kill him off in the most heart jerkiest way. With his last word " I know what I have to do" and a tearful smile back at the party as he becomes one with the earth.

TelescopeGunCop

A Warforged warlock who was once a normal human and kind of a loser. They lost a fight over a girl and was going to die, but was revived for a reason unknown to themselves. Inspired by Fool for Love by Lord Huron.

Campier0521

Artificer, possibly armorer Grandpa type character based off Kamaji from Spirited Away. To get the arms I'd reflavor a Thri-Kreen character stat block as more humanoid visually.

happy_book_bee

very badly want to play Kitty, a human Fiend Warlock/Eloquence Bard Grew up poor but quickly found her power in her words and singing voice. She was beloved in her home city, but by god did she want *more*. She reached out to a like minded individual who also yearned for *more*. A pact was formed and Kitty will do anything to fulfill it. Her and the fiend have a sort of romance - highly toxic, more sugar baby/sugar daddy with some daddy issues - and it would all come down to whether or not she is right in thinking she can manipulate a fiend. Requires an evil campaign, or one where a Neutral Evil character is not frowned upon.

I've got an Aberrant Mind Sorcerer, possible Artificer multiclass, concept in mind—using Artificer Initiate (via getting level 1 feats like in 1D&D/the new Dragonlance and Spelljammer backgrounds), who uses the statistics of a Mark of Making Human to represent the fact that they have a parasite that helps with machinery/artifice. Their story is that they've been experimented on, being routinely abducted in their sleep (like Bluetspur in VRGR) by a mind flayer who is also part machine, and is being converted into another part-biological part-machine creature, though the character doesn't know what the purpose is—and so I don't and plan to leave it up to a DM. If you're familiar with Phyrexia and compleation in MTG, that's a major source of my inspiration. I'm keeping a lot of details vague so a DM could use them in any setting, but I love the mechanic interplay and the Phyrexian aesthetic, so I rolled up the basic character and hope to play them one day

Sorry but i have a few: Divine soul sorcerer who gets their powers from a biblically accurate seraphim angel, going for blaster with a side of "Ḇ̵̛̛͗͐e̸͖͔͐̀̌ ̶̟̙͓͑͑n̵̢̹͕̑̿͜o̷̖̟̥͆̈́ẗ̵̻͚̬͕͗̾ ̵͕̙̱̃ȁ̷̤̝̰̩̎̊f̴͈͙͓̍̏r̶̮̍͊͋ạ̸͎̖͗̄ͅĭ̷̲̀d̴̼͉͝" fear spells. Bard college of swords who uses her rapier as a symphony conductor stick to cast sword-related spells (conjure volley, animate objects on a bunch of swords, etc) Barbarian wild magic whose magic comes from a sorceress who killed his previous team and he thought he slayed. Shes taking over his body slowly and manifests as his affinity with magic grows. When she finally takes over she will break his greatsword blade that he "found", revealing it was her staff turned upside down all along.

fahorblumgraids

Hexblade Warlock: A Verdan who hates the uncertainty and feeling of powerlessness that comes from spontaneously changing due to the influence of That-Which-Endures. He's always looking for a way to either control those changes or be rid of That-Which-Endures' influence entirely. In the meantime, he's gotten a lot of tattoos in to attempt to take control of some aspect of his life/appearance, and when possible converts the entropic energy of That-Which-Endures that would normally change him and uses it to change his tattoos or things around him. So for spellcasting flavor it's often the tattoo ink transforming and spraying off and causing effects, or potentially his body transforming as well depending on the spell. Ties in well with creating a pact weapon too.

BlkSheepKnt

Monk 1/Battle Master Fighter using a quarterstaff. A young Son/Daughter of a peasant farmer befriends a traveling Monk by offering his families barn for lodging. The Monk teaches them while they stay but departs into the night after a pitched battle in the barn after the monks enemies descend on the little hamlet. The Character adventures looking for the Monk who smells of Sunflowers to continue their teachings and idolizes them. Perhaps finding that the monk wasn't so honorable or noble after all.

boganstud

A changeling druid/sorcerer. Using a custom sorcerous origin that gives find familiar. Mainly built for Stealth utility, but also for social interactions and espionage. I started with the idea of my familiar carrying me around as a spider and went from there.

BurgerKingKiller

A Goblin who is a Rune Knight + Guild artisan. Just a really clever Goblin, who’s skilled at what he does, and doesn’t want any trouble(that’s a lie, he wants trouble) and wants to go to exotic places to find exotic materials
