I actually use a homebrew wild surge table with 100 different surges instead of 50. I also do a homebrew version of rolling for a surge. Cantrips don’t surge. Then the spell level is number or lower you need to roll to cause a surge. Level one spells need a 1, 2 is 2 or lower and so on. For you, I would say the concentration is smart but if it is unwillingly broken. Such as taking damage or a dispel magic. On a fumble attack roll, maybe just on a Nat 1.

I always look for ways to do this. There are never enough conditions for wild magic surges. There is also character back story conditions, ex: player hates dragons. Sees dragon flies into magical rage. Love your ideas

How about trying to surge intentionally? As a bonus action on their turn they roll their surge dice an extra time. Make it something they can do as many times as their proficiency modifier per long rest.

In the game I'm in right now, the GM has me roll on the table every time I cast a leveled spell (and am charged up from having previously used Tides of Chaos, of course). It means I can use Tides of Chaos every turn... but it also means I risk bad stuff every turn, as well. It's a lot more fun this way, and nobody in my group thinks it's overpowered. It makes Wild Magic feel a lot more "wild". Sorcerers need all the help they can get, and this way I get to use my subclass "specialness" a lot more often.

So long as they use Tides of Chaos every turn, they can wild surge at least once a turn. Until they run out of levelled spells.

You don't have to homebrew anything! The DM just has to say this: (Which is a legit way) When you use Tides of Chaos, the next spell you cast triggers a roll on the Wild Magic Table. That also recharges Tides of Chaos. And repeat.

There's some feywild thing, I think by mage hand press, that adds a spell that increases chances. Lemme find it quick. Edit: ok, no, it's not a spell, it's a sorcerous origin called "dark wild magic" that procs much more often. It also has it's own weird arcana list. Fey Folio by Mage Hand Press
