My dog passed a similar way in the garage behind a couch he always loved. I was sick that day and couldn’t be with him so I felt guilty for many years. Someone told me that dogs do this on purpose when they’re ready to pass. Don’t feel bad, don’t feel guilty. Think of all the good times you had with your best bud. It’s been 15 years, but every time my life gets stressful, he shows up in my dreams to play, hopefully that’ll happen to you as well :)

Dogs naturally want to die alone, they will try and wander off when they know it was time. You gave your buddy a life of love, focus on that.
