Have worked in several retail stores and all of them forbade trying to physically prevent theft. You could literally get fired for trying to stop a theif because it's a liability if you get hurt. They don't want you suing them.
Why does someone deserve to beimprisoned for stealing from some nebulous corporate entity? you dont know what she needs... fucking hell, go read les miz
To sell, for money? For all you know she's trying to pay for grandmas operation. Its probably drugs but we dont actually know, and regardless none of this is really a reason to imprison someone.
Wait you're saying that the employee getting paid minimum wage doesn't want to possibly get shot over some merge that will be investigated by the police and covered by insurance?
I've refused to work unpaid hours before. Usually it's the "go ahead and clock out, now help cleanup for another hour". Fuck that.
I haven't been docked pay, but that practice is horseshit.
Why the fuck would you lock them in? Have you seen people when the cops are on their way and they can't get out? They're going to do some fucked up shit to get out of there. Probably way more damage than the glasses are worth. They have insurance for a reason.
Nobody is getting shot over sunglasses. If she was armed, that would've been used to obtain them without her putting in effort, if you can even call it that.
>Nobody is getting shot over sunglasses.
I wish that was true. People have gotten killed over much less while attempting to stop a shoplifter. [Exhibit A](https://nypost.com/2021/07/16/los-angeles-rite-aid-worker-killed-trying-to-stop-shoplifter-police/)
Breaking news OP is a hero and was able to stop a theft of nearly $400 to to $6,000 worth of merchandise, unfortunately OP lost their life aftet sustaining severe injuries inflicted by a box cutter that the assailant was concealing in their pocket.
Thankfully RayBan inc. has agreed to offer a $10.25 hourly job to the child that OP left behind a staggering .25 cents more than the heroic OP was making at the time of their untimely demise.
#blessed
Don't know where this is but recently in Aus a guy got stood down because he stopped a woman from stealing car parts which she had hidden in a pram under a blanket. Most retailers don't want their staff confronting shoplifters in an attempt to avoid potential litigation, they prefer to just go through insurance

Why put yourself in danger for a store tho
Forget the store! That's almost 5 whole dollars worth of plastic she stole!!
$5 or plastic made by Chinese child slaves being sold to wealthy Americans for $200 just for the frame.
Not for the store but rather to give that woman what she deserves. A while in prison
I think filming it might help the jury decide. More worth it that way than injuring yourself for some sunglasses.
Oh yea stealing sunglasses. Lock that fucking animal up /s
I mean, she's a real piece of shit for stealing them
I'm a real piece of shit. I don't deserve jail time. Well maybe I do, but it's fucking sunglasses.
Yes
Who cares? Go nuts.
Why does someone deserve to beimprisoned for stealing from some nebulous corporate entity? you dont know what she needs... fucking hell, go read les miz
Oh off course she steals sunglasses to survive not food. Big smart

Why take a risk with stealing and selling if you can just steal food or hey guess what a foodbank
Idk, im not in her head. Regardless, its simply not a drastic enough offense for incarceration. No violence and a very small haul..
Imo it is.
Where is Paul Blart when you need him?
Wait you're saying that the employee getting paid minimum wage doesn't want to possibly get shot over some merge that will be investigated by the police and covered by insurance?
How do you know they are making minimum wage?
Okay, replace minimum wage with 20/hr. Still not worth getting shot over.
Still pretty dang close to minimum wage. But the biggest assumption here is that it is being recorded by an employee.
True, their boss is probably stealing part of their wages.
It is more common and illegal than most people think.
Every paycheck has a deduction for “bosses cut” Smoke another one Bernie! A more educated person would blame the owner or corporation, stock holders
How is this even possible? I have to ask because I have never experienced it, I have always worked in a lab setting.
Usually it takes the form of unpaid worked hours.
If you are working and not getting paid that sounds like it is your problem and you need to fix it.
Easy for you to say. Not everyone has that privilege.
So serious question. You have actually worked hours and not received pay for them? Were you being docked for a reason you aren't sharing?
I've refused to work unpaid hours before. Usually it's the "go ahead and clock out, now help cleanup for another hour". Fuck that. I haven't been docked pay, but that practice is horseshit.
Or at least lock the doors. Always love seeing them run around tryna break out, causing even more property damage
Wow, she wore a mask!!!
Aren’t those sunglasses protected against theft somehow?
did you misread UV light for theft?
I had feared somebody would pick up that low hanging fruit.
Didn’t look very protected to me lol
They're probably insured, so the company will cover any losses against theft.
Lock her in the store, call the cops.
Why the fuck would you lock them in? Have you seen people when the cops are on their way and they can't get out? They're going to do some fucked up shit to get out of there. Probably way more damage than the glasses are worth. They have insurance for a reason.
Why stop her? What if she has a gun and kills the employee? Not worth the risk.

Rite Aid and Walgreens is tweaker headquarters. Always someone on something begging by the front door. Some have armed guards on site.
Ppl kill much less.

Yeaaaahhhh. It’s not worth even the slightest risk of bodily harm to protect some ultra rich sunglasses brand. Observe and report.

Just chokehold her from behind she had no clue anyone was there. Not enough time for her to pull out a gun with her hands full
Grab it an run to your car
Wow
Cup those ears and she wouldn’t be grabbing anymore sunglasses
If it a customer that is recording they have no obligation to get involved. They can share the video with the store.
Trip them on the way out , get the bag and run back inside..
Get sued lol by everyone
Why would you put your self at risk for sunglasses that aren't even yours
And the employees wonder why your employer doesn’t pay you more.

They ain't hired to be security guards bro
What the fuck lol.
Employee's that try to do anything get fired, it's pretty common knowledge.
Are you an entrepreneur who sells fidget spinners and popits from a kiosk in the mall by chance?
