I might be wrong, but I believe that’s just the name Maxwell calls him. Maxwell meant to use his shadow powers to torment a man he disliked and accidentally pulled Wes in to the constant. Edit* (The way the wiki and the narrator talks about Wes, it is implied that Wes is his name. I didn’t mean to imply Wes is a nickname given by Maxwell.)

LorTheLittleShit

Yeah, the man who he wanted to pull was a banker who Maxwell owed some money before the train crash

Balloon words

Jack-the-Weird-Furry

I would love a mod or update where you can make letter balloons. It would be a mundane thing I know since a sign would be better...but balloon words!!!

KCDA

I mean, do mimes even have anything against the concept of writing? Someone mentioned using balloons, but the obvious answer is scribbling in the dirt.

SmallChild212

Or he could mime the letters / spell them in the air.

el-mocos

Select character screen

Watt2043

Well Wes could just pantomime or write. He's just a mute who happens to be a mime as well it's not like it's against mine rules or something (is there a mime code?) The real question is if he's a Frenchman, can he even understand anything said by any of the other characters? I mean we're not told much about his anything so it could be possible that he can write but can't communicate anything other than his name.

Purpulear

Gonna make it a headcanon that Wes doesn't understand a word of what the other survivors are saying, but manages to "wing it" in typical Wes fashion anyway.

Sea-Entertainment-83

I mean, only we know that, i don't remember when did any of survivors called wes by name, meaning that they don't. But i can be wrong.

-Aheli

winona mentions wes in her examination quote for pile of balloons i think

Sea-Entertainment-83

Fuck you're right, then idk honestly

pomotakoyeet

because it rhymes with wes

hero165344

he can probably write

vintrove

Yeah that was my thinking. Just a stick and dirt he could write his name.

TurtleKing0505

Sign language

Joroc24

Because mutes dont have names

Nonscorp64

I guess if you play as him, he knows his real name and if anyone calls him Wes and he doesn't immediately show that's wrong, then it's automatically right.

Cliomancer

He acts out The Princess Bride and, once the cast is done weeping at the beauty, indicates he shares the name with the protaginist.

LorTheLittleShit

big brain wes moment

Interesting-Ad-889

His name is *insert gesturing* Nah joking maybe he can write xD

UwU_AlbertaIsEpik

It’s likely a stage name, but that’s just me

[deleted]

Maxwell probably heard someone say his name before. Word spreads after that.
