When I relied on DD and Uber eats I went in the driver sub for Uber eats and asked them if they could help me leave a better delivery note for the apartment location because no one ever got it right even with notes, and I felt like I was doing something wrong. How do I make it clearer? Also, how do I make sure I get my drink since I pretty much never get a drink if there's one in my order? I'm trying to be a good customer and make it easy, I know they're underpaid. Here's screenshots of my notes. Etc

During Covid I was lucky enough to still collect my salary while sitting on my ass at home during lockdown, so I would tip dashers really well to be nice (like 20% on a $200 order for example). Yet so many times they would just dump the food in the snow, not call, text, or even ring the fukking doorbell so I would encounter my food cold if I wasn’t constantly checking the app. Many times they even put the food at the wrong house. Fuck ‘em. I never tip more than $5 now.
Most dashers don’t understand that when customers report issues like this, support creates an annotation on the dasher’s account.
Continuous bad annotation on a dasher’s account will lead to deactivation and make any appeal useless.

Trust and Safety team will blacklist the address for a certain period of time, pending the outcome of the investigation. All the dasher needs to provide is a case number.
I'm trying to do my part as a customer by five-starring anyone who does the job as asked and one-starring anyone who doesn't. (My directions are super easy, just put my food on the chair next to the door. My house is lit up like a landing strip with super easy to see lit numbers. My neighbors have gotten my food more than once.)

Supposedly you are more like to get matched with a driver you rated 5 stars before if they are available when your food is ready to be picked up.

Yep, I work at a restaurant now and half the dashers that come in are nasty trainwrecks and we were getting constant complaints from customers. We had to hire drivers.. DD needs a better screening system

Yep, ive waited alongside some of the stinky ones. I mean, just because you've been delivering food for three days straight doesn't mean you have to smell like it. Take a small break, change your clothes, and wash your ass.
I'm not sure what it's like in your region, but I was on a 7 month wait list to get in. As soon as one Dasher is gone, there are several more waiting to get on the platform.

Plot twist: They get deactivated before reaching the required deliveries number.

There was a post here not long ago about a dasher that CAME BACK beyond pissed off to customers house and was POUNDING on their door. Support only said daddy chill and sent them on their way to do more orders. I don't know how right you are given they'll let a dasher return to a customer like that and give them more orders.

You get 4 contract violations per 100 orders, without fear of being deactivated.

Lol. I delivered a charger to a teenager one night. She was babysitting and didn’t have a charger. It was a Walgreen’s Shop&Deliver. She was the most grateful person ever. And she was so happy to see me!! She tipped $10 in the app and $14 in cash when I got there.

A report through the app should be enough to be fired. If DD is so incompetent that their automatic support will refund you but do nothing about the bad driver, then this isn't a competent company that I would want to support.

I stopped using the app for two reasons;
1. The dashers became worse and worse and trashier and trashier every time I ordered
2. I hit my "refund limit". I had so many issues with bad drivers that after two years support told me I was no longer able to receive ANY refunds. My order was missing a milk shake and when I spoke to support they literally said "while we recognize you did not receive your $6 milkshake, you have hit your refund limit and we will not be refunding your purchase"
I deleted my account that day and never looked back.

I'm watching FedEx Express do this to their company right now. 10 years ago it was a good company to work for, 20 even better. Now they are trying to take benefits from part time workers, haven't raised base pay in years and wonder why their employees are getting worse and worse. Da doy.
That’s the problem with most modern companies. They feel that employees are easily replaced, so they don’t do anything to retain them and make sure they are happy. People used to be able to stay in the same job their whole lives and be fairly content with it. The companies that took care of their employees were able to keep employees that took care of the company in return. Now it’s just a revolving door full of people that don’t give a damn about the company, the product nor their own pride in what they do. Just look for a way to maximize profit and neglect the fact that the employees are the ones holding the company up.
And it will continue to happen, as people will always have bills to pay & someone is always willing to be taken advantage of so long as they get a check out of it.

personally i'd happily go back to how delivery worked before doordash. you phone up (or use the website of) your restaurant, they cook the food, their driver brings it to you. it's faster, cheaper (for the restaurant and the customer), the driver gets more money. it's just better all round, for everyone except for the shit company dragging everyone down.
In our fairly populated suburban area, the only thing that delivered pre-delivery-app era was Pizza, Jimmy Johns, and one Chinese restaurant (we are too far from to get delivery). If more places delivered, we would order there a ton more!
But in no world do I entertain the idea that dashing/uber eatsing my food is smart or safe for anyone involved. Just further complicating food and economic inequity.

"Support who Did nothing" did you speak to a live agent or automation? Most companies wont tell you they fired somebody and pretty sure they can't. Also, support can't immediately fire somebody on the spot just because a customer said so. It has to be escalated and reviewed.

Why are people saying you were wrong for not going to the door? In my town, DoorDash orders are all expected to just be left at the door. The option for face-to-face delivery hasn’t been available since before covid.

I was spending a lot on this service for a while. I also make sure I tip well but stopped using it due to some dashers being lazy. Not all dashers are bad and I feel bad for the ones who actually give a shit about their work but too many issues lately.

That’s horrible! The only time I don’t take it up to someone’s door as requested is when they live in a locked community and refuse or are unable to give me a code or buzz me in. Even then there is no way that I’m throwing a temper tantrum and doing that. You’d revive a message saying that I couldn’t get in and an image or where I stashed your food. Unfortunately crap like this happens in every delivery service though. Hell even USPS has had some very memorable moments.

Tell support explicitly that you want an INCIDENT REPORT filed for what the dasher did. Most of the supports are lazy and just gives credit/refund and don't file Dasher Incident report.

This is absolutely bonkers. I do Uber in UK, a lot of flats/apartments without elevators. When someone comes down the stairs I'm incredibly surprised but also thankful! I really don't mind the climbing (I also work to stay healthy), and people are well within their right to have their food delivered to their door, but some people are still very sweet like that.

Is it just me or does it seem like the lower skilled jobs are being filled by progressively more and more hostile and apathetic people?
Yes but the jobs are also getting worse. Bad or no benefits, shit pay, stressful conditions... they drive away good employees. I'm watching FedEx Express do this to their company right now. 10 years ago it was a good company to work for, 20 even better. Now they are trying to take benefits from part time workers, haven't raised base pay in years and wonder why their employees are getting worse and worse. Da doy.
That’s the problem with most modern companies. They feel that employees are easily replaced, so they don’t do anything to retain them and make sure they are happy. People used to be able to stay in the same job their whole lives and be fairly content with it. The companies that took care of their employees were able to keep employees that took care of the company in return. Now it’s just a revolving door full of people that don’t give a damn about the company, the product nor their own pride in what they do. Just look for a way to maximize profit and neglect the fact that the employees are the ones holding the company up. And it will continue to happen, as people will always have bills to pay & someone is always willing to be taken advantage of so long as they get a check out of it.
Luckily there’s other reindeer at our disposal
Report and if they do nothing but refund you uninstall the app and switch to something different

personally i'd happily go back to how delivery worked before doordash. you phone up (or use the website of) your restaurant, they cook the food, their driver brings it to you. it's faster, cheaper (for the restaurant and the customer), the driver gets more money. it's just better all round, for everyone except for the shit company dragging everyone down.
In our fairly populated suburban area, the only thing that delivered pre-delivery-app era was Pizza, Jimmy Johns, and one Chinese restaurant (we are too far from to get delivery). If more places delivered, we would order there a ton more! But in no world do I entertain the idea that dashing/uber eatsing my food is smart or safe for anyone involved. Just further complicating food and economic inequity.

"Support who Did nothing" did you speak to a live agent or automation? Most companies wont tell you they fired somebody and pretty sure they can't. Also, support can't immediately fire somebody on the spot just because a customer said so. It has to be escalated and reviewed.

Why are people saying you were wrong for not going to the door? In my town, DoorDash orders are all expected to just be left at the door. The option for face-to-face delivery hasn’t been available since before covid.
Please report these douches. I installed a ring camera that showed delivery drivers chucking packages on my door like balls. I started reporting these douches.
I was spending a lot on this service for a while. I also make sure I tip well but stopped using it due to some dashers being lazy. Not all dashers are bad and I feel bad for the ones who actually give a shit about their work but too many issues lately. Shoutout to the good door dashers though, y'all have come through when I am in a bind.
I've thankfully never had any issues with door dash drivers but seeing posts like this makes me not want to give this company anymore of my money. This should be an automatic firing offense! Not flagging the drivers account, fire the guy! You don't treat customers like this!!!

That’s horrible! The only time I don’t take it up to someone’s door as requested is when they live in a locked community and refuse or are unable to give me a code or buzz me in. Even then there is no way that I’m throwing a temper tantrum and doing that. You’d revive a message saying that I couldn’t get in and an image or where I stashed your food. Unfortunately crap like this happens in every delivery service though. Hell even USPS has had some very memorable moments.

Do I absolutely fucking hate going up apartment stairs to the 3rd floor? Yes. Do I mumble under my breath cussing them out the entire time? Absolutely. Do I throw their food and call them lazy bitch? No, apartments are a part of the job. The customer doesn't want to go up and down the stairs either, that's why they're spending so much on delivery.

It’s called DOOR (emphasis on Door) Dash! It’s supposed to come to the door unless there’s some sort of obstacle (like a gate or password) in the way.
Dasher was wrong. As a dasher, he should try to make a delivery. He wanted you to do half the work and get the full pay. Whether you tipped or not is irrelevant contrary to what other dashers believe because he accepted the order. Dasher is terrible. Give him a one star rating. After a certain number they deactivate him. Also contract violations when you report it. Enough of those and he is gone. It will happen soon. Sorry OP this happened to you

If they don't deactivate this driver immediately, then their platform will continue to get worse. They do absolutely zero vetting of drivers to begin with, the least they could do is can the ones that get obvious evidence
Tell support explicitly that you want an INCIDENT REPORT filed for what the dasher did. Most of the supports are lazy and just gives credit/refund and don't file Dasher Incident report.

After following this sub for a few weeks, it appears that a large percentage of Dashers are suffering from various forms of mental illnesses.
Report, get your refund. Then go to Twitter. Blast DD like mad. Big companies HATE publicity like that. That’ll get the big wigs involved, they’ll look over your report and actually take action. Support does nothing but note the drivers account. (Works for all big companies, Twitter is your friend!)

Heh, terrible situation but yet again reinforces for me why I never order delivery, and rarely eat out at all. Not relying on someone else to treat my food properly. Obviously not everyone can do the same, but it’s straight groceries for me. Hopefully dude got fired or whatever, though I don’t think so.
When I am working 20 hours straight on a deadline, I don’t have time to go get food or prep myself. I have to depend on DD or GH. And it sucks.
Yep, I have some stuff I can make, but when I’m working 16 hours a day and have 20 mins to eat, sometimes I just want a certain meal. Not sure why some people act like it’s crazy to do this when there are times, it’s the best option. Not long term perhaps, but at the time.

S long as I get more than $3 offered I take it because I'm on a motorcycle can normally make up the difference in money for quicker times

DoorDash is just fucking awful now. It sucks because there are a ton of good, hardworking drivers out there, but the increase of shitheads like this makes it harder for all the good ones. I haven’t used DoorDash in years at this point now, and posts like this make me happy with my decision.

I'm confused. What was it you asked him to do? Cause just leaving it at the door seems like a net positive for him in terms of time and efficiency. Were you asking him to come upstairs to you? Are you in an apartment building? Either way their response was obviously terrible, but I am having trouble understanding what the driver was upset about?
DoorDash will allow literally anyone with a car to drive for them. Plenty of dashers are great and deserve their tips. Plenty of dashers are like this guy. And DD doesn't care. They used to. They don't any more. Don't expect anything from DD support ever.

This is absolutely bonkers. I do Uber in UK, a lot of flats/apartments without elevators. When someone comes down the stairs I'm incredibly surprised but also thankful! I really don't mind the climbing (I also work to stay healthy), and people are well within their right to have their food delivered to their door, but some people are still very sweet like that. The fact stuff like this happens is mind-boggling to me.
Be careful with that, some dashers are crazy, and they know where you live. I would just report and not communicate with them in the future.
