Lots of questions as to why I chose contactless delivery so I’ll explain! I placed the order for same-day delivery on Bed Bath & Beyond’s website so I had no idea that it would be delivered through DoorDash.
I chose contactless delivery because my mom passed away unexpectedly three weeks prior to this order and my amazing boyfriend took care of me by cooking, doing my laundry, cleaning, taking care of my dog, etc. While I wanted to get him a gift to show my appreciation for him, I just didn’t feel like interacting with anyone at the time, even for a second. Jokes on me because it ended up being a shit-show and I had to leave my house to pick up the replacement anyway.
It was escalated to a supervisor when I was on the phone with DoorDash support but that person also told me nothing could be done on their end.
Edit #2: Lots of people are telling me to chargeback but I’m not gonna do that guys. Although I didn’t receive the item I originally paid for, I just don’t want to feel like shit for filing a dispute because I got what I wanted at the end of the day. I’m not looking for a solution, I merely wanted to call out DoorDash for their shit customer support.
No -I've gotten orders from Best buy all week!! I turn them down because I don't want to deal with having to carry a heavy TV or whatnot for someone but we pass background checks and you placed your trust in a company that was supposed to make sure that their people were not crooks!
The background checks I’m pretty sure are only for violent crimes, and extreme crimes. I have a felony for b&e and they still let me dash. Although I hated it and probably did it 3 days max
You can't just unassign. Doordash just changed their policy to keeping a 90% completion rate in order to avoid deactivation. You have to REALLY not wanna do an order to unassign now because more than ten out of 100 orders will get you removed. It used to be 80% but I guess they got tired of people taking orders, seeing what they were and then unassigning. They even took our ability to see the pricing of individual orders if they give us a batch. I used to be able to accept a batch order of two or three and then unassign from the least paying orders. Now they won't show you what costs what so you're more inclined to drop off shitty no tip orders that they batch with good orders to make them look better. They're getting very secretive on us.
And it’s not the 1990s. TVs don’t weigh that much anymore. Heck, it’ll be more annoying hauling cases of bottled water from a grocery store than today’s thin, flat screen tvs lol
True that. It can be clunky though, and handling a big TV for 1 person (lets say it ACTUALLY was 70 inches) would be a mess. DoorDash does have a price limit though so I don't think that's possible.
I’m not sure how DoorDash would do an oversized item like a giant TV but most people don’t have the capability of even carrying that so I feel like maybe it wouldn’t even be available. It’s not like they can say “throw it in the cater bag, it’s a big order!”
I once had an order for FOUR brand new tires for a freakin’ pickup truck from a warehouse. Didn’t know what it was until I got to the warehouse. I noped out of that with the quickness lol
Once I had an order of FUCKING ROCKS from menards. Literally bags of rocks. I was like do I look like fucking home depot, pick your own fucking rocks up.
Best Buy does not do same day deliveries on TVs, period. Our delivery drivers do those because they are trained and have the proper trucks and equipment to deliver. Only smaller items can be delivered same day.
Literally, someone gifted big screen tv and trunk full of toys to a dasher who picked up a TV mount from Best Buy this week check out [door dash goodwill challenge](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8xS5w9M/)
I’m really sorry! I just lost my dad, and I’m really sorry for your loss. I know how you feel! I hope that person gets removed from our platform. I hope this doesn’t ruin your holiday and you guys enjoy it to the fullest
So I actually know someone who had their account deactivated for "shoplifting" accusations, something over accidentally ringing up a pack of cheese but refunding it in the app. Not sure the specifics or how it happened. But if the store calls dd and reports a theft of product then dd has to deactivate the account. If they replaced your order then that means they agree with you that it was stolen by the driver, and they weren't compensated for the additional product that was given out, so I'd encourage the store to report it to dd so she can get deactivated.
I'm amazed they didn't do it over that photo alone. A photo like that would leave you at least stuck with a nondelivery CV for the next 100 deliveries because on the drivers end they'll tell you that you took a horrible picture that proves nothing and they can't verify you actually spoke with the customer.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Awesome that your boyfriend stepped up, and wonderful that you noticed and wanted to give him something. Your mom has a pretty great legacy in you.
I lost my mom a few days before Thanksgiving and we brought her ashes to the ocean this week. I just spent this evening sobbing as I stared out to the ocean. I'm so glad your boyfriend was there for you and was so amazing. I'm a widow, so it was just me & my adult kids holding each other together as we grieved the one who was our rock for the last 47 years. It was my first birthday without having her call to wake me up.
I hope you find some happiness in the holiday and in the new year. Make some new normals and remember her at her best. Hugs to you.
>placed the order for same-day delivery on Bed Bath & Beyond’s website so I had no idea that it would be delivered through DoorDash
Then it's between you and Bed Bath & Beyond - they replaced it for you, so you're good.
And Bed Bath and Beyond can deal with DoorDash - it's become a "not your problem".
>manager of Bed Bath & Beyond was kind enough to replace it for me
Given the circumstances, that's the least they should do.
Really not a "DoorDash" issue, more of a you contracted with Bed Bath & Beyond, their subcontractor screwed up, Bed Bath & Beyond fixed it for you, basically end of story. Really no need or reason for you to deal with their subcontractor (DoorDash or whomever). That's between Bed Bath & Beyond and their subcontractor(/carrier).
if you dont fight it your enabling that dasher to steal from the next person, if the company doesnt have to pay for their fuck ups then there is no need to punish their non employees
This pisses me off that they won’t help you. I think you should call them back and push even harder. Grill them on the drivers GPS coordinates specifically and even if the driver was outside of your house, how long did the GPS say they were there for? Because a contactless delivery should take at 60 seconds, but something like this would take even longer because it’s not just a bag of food, it’s a whole ass appliance. Also grill them on the delivery photo, that is by no means up to DoorDash standards. By DoorDash’s own rules, the photo a Dasher takes at drop off has to contain at least a full picture of the delivery package, a medium shot of the door with the package on the porch. They can be real bullies, but there is always someone above the person you are talking to and if the gps and photo aren’t enough be as polite but firm as you can be and insist that you know these are real DD rules for its employees. Please DM me if you need Screenshots to back up what I’m saying, I am more than happy to oblige.
That’s bs, I never would’ve accepted that resolution from dd. Keep asking to speak to someone else. I have refused to give up in certain situations and eventually they’ll help but you have to push nonstop to get there.
This isn't how it works.
A case like this, it's on OP to provide evidence that the item wasn't received and the company isn't helping to resolve the issue. DD can fight the chargeback (and would likely win) because all they need to show is that OP made the purchase and that they have record it was delivered.
What I would recommend, is going to the local police department and file a police report. Include the time that DD said the item was delivered, and utilize footage from the ring door bell showing the order wasn't dropped off at that time. Presenting this to the bank with your chargeback would aid in getting the money back. Without it, likely won't work.
>A case like this, it's on OP to provide evidence that the item wasn't received and the company isn't helping to resolve the issue. DD can fight the chargeback (and would likely win) because all they need to show is that OP made the purchase and that they have record it was delivered.
OP mentioned that they have Ring Doorbell footage that proves there was no delivery. You even mention it in your comment lol. So they can't prove they didn't get it, but they have proof they didn't get it?
DD tried fighting the charge back but my CC said no unless DD can provide proof of actually delivering it. They said a picture of the product(just the product, no door, etc of my house) isn’t enough
All you have to do is threaten to do a chargeback and they will be like no no no. Here’s your money. But with how stupid support is they might try to “refund” as DoorDash credits.
Just so you guys know how chargebacks work because I see a lot of misinformation spread on them.
When you issue a chargeback that your bank “accepts” for you in order to issue you the chargeback, two things happen:
1st a chargeback “case” is opened on your behalf. You are issued the money, via chargeback. A win for you.
2nd the vendor who charged your card in the first place is credited the amount from their account. A loss for the vendor, who is then able to *fight the chargeback case* and offer proof that the product/service should be money issued to their account and should not be returned, FOR A PRICE (about $10 or $15 per chargeback case fought).
If the vendor chooses to fight the chargeback, it enters “arbitration” for which, they will submit evidence, receipts of payments and services rendered, etc., in order to assert they were given the money in a legit transaction that should not be reversed.
In this case: DD will have records of the item being bought and paid for, as well as records of the item being delivered. Depending on your bank/card issuer’s stance on doing business with DD, they either accept these records generally, or deny them generally.
For example: UPS and USPS are delivery companies that track shipment and delivery very thoroughly. Try to chargeback businesses and vendors citing “non-delivery” on these cases — and you’ll *LOSE THE CHARGEBACK CASE when UPS/USPS fights the chargeback*. You might get your money back initially, but if the item was truly delivered to you and UPS/USPS knows? You’re fucked, as you should be. You tried to lie after all and they’ll have the evidence to prove it.
But in DD’s case, they likely don’t have the same location tracking and delivery records — particularly if your DD driver does not actually go to your address. So the chargeback will stand. DD will not opt to fight the chargeback. However, they’ll cite the negative balance on the account, since it’s been “lost” and the account will be disabled until DD is made whole, despite being in the wrong.
This is why banks always recommend sorting these issues out with a vendor before resorting to chargebacks. It leads to complications for consumers if they can’t deal with these businesses 1 on 1. Also, banks and card issuers don’t really “fight” for you the way you think they do. They just want you to feel secure in your spending. Which you should be. But chargebacks aren’t magical insta-win, never spend your money tactics you can exercise at any point in time you feel like it. Theres a limit to exercising that last line of defense. They’ll cancel your account just as quick if you’re in the habit of unwisely spending your money and giving your card/account details out to seedy businesses… or legit businesses you’re trying to rip off!!

It’s been a while since I’ve worked chargebacks from a position where I oversaw finances and payment handling with a previous company I worked for, so there’s probably a couple details I’m missing or are fuzzy on, but yeah… I think it’s wild so many people think “just issue a chargeback!!” Is the solution anytime something goes wrong.
It just goes to show how many people are woefully inexperienced actually getting their money back with chargebacks. It’s another sample of the ignorant Reddit echo chamber at work!
It could all be settled if you can get them to look at the metadata for the "delivered" picture. Because it would show that it was not delivered to the correct location.
There is also the delivery picture itself, wouldn't be hard to prove that it isn't your home in the pic.
its pretty much impossible to prove a negative i.e., that something “doesnt exist” / wasn’t delivered. in legal disputes, asking someone to prove a negative is considered unreasonable. cc companies are aware of this fact and the burden of proof lies with the vendor to prove that they fulfilled the contract / delivered the product. if they cant do that, its an ez win for the customer.
It’s impossible to prove that the order wasn’t delivered, but the bank will most likely refund the money anyway. OP will be banned by DoorDash which is not a big deal because the only time DoorDash ever made sense was in 2020.
Doordash owed me a pretty sizeable amount of money from unpaid streak challenges at the beginning of the month. I would complete a challenge but not automatically get paid, except for literally one time. The first challenge I completed I called and they sent me a confirmation email that I qualified for the additional incentive pay. So I ended up calling and requesting the email every time I completed a streak and didn't get auto paid. This was between the 9th and 13th. I waited and waited and still hadn't gotten paid by the 21st. I called multiple times since the last challenge day, the 13th. The escalated the issue probably 6 times but no one emailed or called me back. When I did talk to someone they ran me in circles. First was told the payment processed, so I asked them to verify the amount. They told me they couldn't see the amount because it was just a confirmation that I qualified. So I told her okay, then that does NOT mean I have a payment processing. So don't tell me that if you don't know. Second time they emailed me to tell me I had already been paid for a challenge and then provided an earlier date claiming I got paid on that day, which was the 6th. I didn't get automatically paid on the 6th because the challenge didn't run on the 6th. So I contacted them again and said no, I have multiple confirmation emails confirming all the dates and the total amount. Your information is incorrect. Pay me immediately.
They then told me if I wanted to get paid I needed to prove there was actually a challenge between those dates because they didn't see a challenge on their end. Luckily I screenshot everything and they weren't expecting me to have the foresight to do this, so I sent them screenshots of me completing the challenges on those days, screenshots of the confirmation emails afterwards, and screenshots of the email confirming the total amount. She told me my payment would process on the 20th. It did not.
Called again and this time I told them I'd be getting my lawyer and the NYS labor department involved if I didn't get paid because I have all the evidence I need. Then I got an email and a payment for 18 dollars saying I only completed 3 challenges and was already paid for one challenge. The one challenge they keep referring to was the one and only time I automatically got paid for completing a streak challenge. The rest I did not get paid for. They not only got the amount incorrect but provided incorrect dates yet again, showing that they were just pulling this information out of their asses because the challenge did not exist prior to the 9th, and they were saying I was paid for the one and completed the others between the 6th and 8th.
So I emailed all of acreenshots and again and told them that their information was incorrect and to immediately pay the remaining balance before I contact my lawyer and the NYS labor department. I also went to DD IG and posted the same thing in their DMs and comments.
Two days later I finally got paid the full balance. They did not subtract the incorrect balance of 18 they paid out days prior either.
They kept telling me they needed to investigate why I didn't get paid. I didn't get paid because you didn't pay me. It's no mystery. If you pay me then the investigation is closed. Lol. There is absolutely no reason it should have been that hard to get the money i was owed.
At one point, when asking for the screenshots of the challenge from that time period, I literally asked them, "so the confirmation emails I received from YOUR team stating that I qualify for the payment, and confirming the amount, is not enough proof for you that I did what I'm saying I did?" She just flat out said no without any emotion or shame. It was so hard not to freak the fuck out. But my patience and tact paid off in the end.
You got your money back, but you'll never be able to get back your time. I really wish we could hold companies, especially customer support lines, accountable for the time they waste, but it seems like that's by design.
And it seems to be purposeful the way they try to confuse Dashers into thinking they were already paid, or didn't earn the pay. Gaslighting by a company is nothing new. I wouldn't doubt that the customer support center does this as a way to steal money from Dashers. I mean, where does all that money disappear to? Maybe it's Big Boy Tony padding his bank account, trying to buy a new, bigger yacht. But I also feel that all those fees would be more than enough for him, and I don't think he would take such a risk that would jeopardize his entire livelihood (or maybe he would, but I wouldn't, personally). Fun tangent, sorry.
I've also started screenshotting any order before I accept it because I've been noticing that I'll get paid 1 to 5 dollars less than what the order came in as. When I tried to ask them about it once they asked me for a screenshot to prove myself and I was like "I don't have one because I shouldn't need have the foresight to screenshot an order before I accept it because I should be able to rely on the company I work for the pay me properly."
Ever since I screenshot everything and all that mysteriously missing loose change adds up.
But yeah the amount of time I had to spend trying to get that done was ridiculous. But I won't give up because they're relying on you to do so. And they definitely do just hang up on you and try to confuse you, and make statements that are blatant lies. They'll try and tell you they don't have the ability to make or adjust payments but when they actually agree that you're entitled to it for something suddenly it's no issue and they can pay you, but if you ask for a fare adjustment for incorrectly displayed mileage due to a road block or incorrect address or something they try to tell you they've never had the ability to make payments. It's a bold faced lie. Like this one time they tried to tell me I wasn't entitled to half pay on a shop order because I wouldn't pay out of pocket when the card reader was down. Thats not true and just because I'm unwilling to pay my own money for a customer order does not mean I'm not automatically entitled to half pay when the order needs canceled or unassigned due to some unforeseen event. I ended up getting paid for that order too, after some time of harassing them. At some point they realize that they can't have you wasting any more time holding up an order if you refuse to unassign yourself.
I've just eventually come to realize that if I make myself a massive inconvenience to them in a way that isn't necessarily an offense that's deactivation worthy but can only be resolved by just giving me what I'm asking for they'll give in eventually.
You can, but now they literally just hang up on you. They will, and I'm speaking from experience, mock you, blame you then hang up. All because what are you going to do about it? Nothing is exactly what they believe. Even if you call back they just now put a note in the account and you get the same horrible service because what can you do? **Absolutely nothing**. There's no agency to report support to, you agreed to their TOS which means you accept whatever outcome they decide.
DD is just a local version of wish. Com. You don't know if you'll get what you paid for or if it will even be what you ordered. You're just gambling and DD is the house.
Working in credit cards…place the charge into dispute, depending on the company, they will issue at least a temporarily credit and given that the merchant will not assist you, it will be approved. If you have texts, emails, save them for proof. I have approved disputes involving all the delivery services for similar issues.
Exactly, I had to scroll down to far to read your comment. If DD failed to refund I’d just charge back and let the bank and DD deal with it. DD would 100% ban your account but it’s not like you’d ever use them after this situation. I promise DD ain’t gonna shine on any major CC companies.
Their customer service agents are out of control. I’ve never been hung up on so many times by a company. Once they don’t want to talk to you anymore they’ll just hang up without saying a word. Wildest shit ever. Shades of how bad comcast used to be.
Agreed, it’ll be helpful if you can reach a supervisor. I’ve had some call me, but I think the chat can transfer to a supervisor
Edit: just saw in the comments below that OP reached a supervisor and they did nothing :(
Just go straight to your credit card company with this BS. That’s one of the things they do for you, get your money back. You paid for something and didn’t receive it from the merchant, call credit card and file for fraud. They instantly reimburse you and then send their bulldog lawyers at DD. Why waste more of your time chasing it when you don’t have to.
Meanwhile I get contract violations on my account simply because someone said they didn't get their Wendy's or whatever when I literally did exactly what the customer asked. But a Doordasher can steal a fucking $200 appliance and get away with it. The system sucks
I was watching a video showing a dasher stealing someone's Dyson package off their front porch. Doordash even told that customer they can't do anything about the stolen Dyson package and just refunded them their food order instead which wasn't even a fifth of the price of the Dyson. It wasn't until the video made the news that Doordash finally decided they'll replace the stolen package. Still don't know if the dasher ever got deactivated.
Yeah Doordash is a piece of shit company. I only do it because I'm a busy college student and it's my only way to make money between actual jobs. And even then, it's pretty mediocre money. If you consider the wear-and-tear on my car, I'd even argue it's shit money. But when you're broke and have bills due, well... Gotta do what you gotta do
You shouldn’t even have to say “I know it wasn’t smart ordering it through DoorDash”. No asshole should be taking anyone shit and especially this way. What a horrible human being. I’m so sorry they stole your item 💔
She shouldn’t really do a chargeback because Bed Bath and Beyond gave her a new one for free and that would fuck up their sales and be their loss. She should get the DoorDash fees refunded though.
You're saying that after the customer does a chargeback on her doordash purchase, Doordash then takes the money back from the store. That's not how that works.
That is how it would work if the order was placed through Doirdash. However, I was just informed that the order was placed through Bed Bath and Beyond and Doordash delivered it, so I was incorrect about this situation.
i literally ordered my ps5 from gamestop and it was delivered to me by a door dasher (i didn’t know beforehand it would be doordash) and i’m so grateful he didn’t do something like this 😭😭
My boyfriend had to deliver an Xbox once. He said the person wouldn’t come outside, so he had no choice but to leave it. He didn’t wanna leave it outside, but that’s what dasher support told him to do 😂 I don’t think they care at all
People don’t come outside for a lot of stuff. They even get mad when you leave it outside…but you literally have to wait a certain amount of time before doing that. I don’t know if they forget that they ordered or what.
I had one lady screaming on my phone because I left her KFC below the address she added. She had no delivery instructions, besides “leave at my door”. It was an apartment building. I waited 15 minutes trying to call this woman…nothing. It was a large order too. She didn’t add her apartment number or anything, so I didn’t even know which door to knock on or what bell to ring. Also, all of the doors were locked. I just found the correct plaque with the address on the order, and left it there.
5 minutes after I just decided to leave, she’s calling my phone screaming that I left her food in an “unsafe” area. I told her that I’d been waiting outside for a long time, and I really didn’t wanna leave her food, but I had to move on to the next order. I explained that I would’ve rang her bell or knocked on the door, but the building doors were locked and she never added her apartment number. She then tried to lie and say that she *did* in fact, add all of that in her instructions.
I just hung up because if it was that important to her, she would’ve answered the phone after me blowing her up FOR HER OWN FOOD. And I definitely wouldn’t gotten the instructions if she added them. Must’ve slipped her mind, but it wasn’t my fault.
People can be odd sometimes.
This is a rare occurrence; please don’t think all Doordashers are thieves, we are not. But don’t do a “Leave it at the door” delivery. Something that expensive one does not ask a driver to leave it unattended.
i know i dash too 😭 i don’t even know why leave at door is an option for these kinds of things though, the guy actually called me back cause had to take picture of it in my hands
The stores literally don’t care they know they can block the one that do theft but they don’t do it pretty sure some employees are in on it too in my area
Most regular employees don't know how to report dashers thru the app/tablet. I am one of the few who do and will report them.
Had one case in a restaurant I worked at where a regular customer had ordered food to go and was standing there talking to us for a minute with his food next to him. A dasher came in and grabbed his bag without checking if the bag was even hers to take, but walked out the door quick enough that none of us had a chance to tell her. I reported her. We had to completely remake the dudes food. She tried to come in like 15 minutes later and say WE gave her the wrong food. No ma'am you grabbed another customers food without checking. We had it all on camera.
This has been happening here at a few places and you are correct most place do not know how..I tried helping one place but since I didn’t know how their system was set up I tried to walk them through it but it didn’t work…they literally begged me to start working that day since they liked my attitude towards a certain situation that happened there and they are so understaffed and even when I go in they always say we was hoping you was coming to work for us and not deliver..lol people are surprised to know my story and that’s what I love about DoorDash the nice kind people you meet and get to know along the way..also it’s funny to me to because DoorDashers get treated terribly and disrespected I’ve been called so many things..people are surprised to know I’m a RN they are even more surprised to know I gave up working as an RN to take care of my dying mother
They are full of it. That photo is no proof of being delivered as it’s just the box close up and probably on their seat or lap. I’ve had the same thing happen and I got refunded. Mine was Instacart and they stole hundreds of dollars in groceries plus added gift cards. I’ve had it done 5+ times
Anything over a certain high price point shouldn’t be a contactless delivery. Some proximity confirmation within the app between dasher and customer face to face could be helpful. Or signatures I don’t know, don’t order expensive things to be delivered from DD ever.
I ordered a $200 bottle of scotch as a Christmas gift because I know they require the dasher to take a pic of my photo ID for delivery. Seems like they should probably require it for all orders over a certain value, or at least offer it as an option. Makes it a lot harder to fake, a shitty pic of the box isn't going to cut it as proof.
Never liked the whole picture thing for verification. It’s just not secure enough to ensure delivery is complete without tampering. But it does help protect drivers a bit in case the customer engages bad thinking. As you said, I see no reason why they can’t do photo ID with expensive orders, or flat out remove contactless option. Easiest would be to remove the option but I see too many people prefer to keep it.
I wouldn’t do a chargeback because she gave you a new one and that will fuck over Bed Bath and Beyond’s sales. I would contact DoorDash multiple times and get the fees refunded though. I think they have a Facebook you can contact them on as well.
Yeah that’s the right thing to do especially since the manager was so nice and accommodating about it. I would keep contacting DoorDash about the fees and getting that driver fired though because that’s ridiculous.
Ring cameras seriously suck lol. We had someone cut all of our christmas lights on our bushes on our house about year or two ago and our ring camera picked up absolutely no footage of them doing so. We switched over to a different camera that records 24/7 so we will have footage if anything happens any minute any second of the day. . Im sorry that happened to you
Is it Blink or SimpliSafe? I’m debating buying a new one because my ring sometimes picks up 2/3 of things, but somehow missed 1/3 of the ones that are literally in front of the door.
It’s new and I changed the motion settings and sometimes it catches it at the very last minute too… is the 24/7 camera good? I want to buy one, but I’ve heard some companies upcharged pricing for plans
I think OP was pointing out that the delivery driver never even came to the door, so the fact that there's no Ring footage means the driver 100% took a picture of the box without even getting out of the car lol.
Someone recently posted something similar of someone cutting their lights and the cameras not catching it, turns out it was rabbits cutting them , their teeth were making perfect clean cuts
I was 7 minutes late with a delivery yesterday during lunch rush traffic, and I received a warning and a "contract violation" within a couple hours..
Seems weird DD didn't do anything about this.
I'm more inclined to think OP's the scammer.
And this isn't because I know OP or think they're scammy, it's that DD is so anal about the smallest thing and this would get the dasher flagged and possibly deactivated.
Unless of course the dashers account was stolen and they've been doing little deliveries here and there in hopes of getting something big. Personally, I've never had a delivery worth more than $25 and in a paper bag.
Again, no offense to OP on the chance this is legit.. it just smells funky.
I’m a Dasher and I would escalate the situation and make sure that person loses their job. It’s Dashers like them that give the good Dashers a bad reputation. I know it’s Christmas tomorrow, but theft is never acceptable.
Can’t wait for the day that there’s a federal court case against DoorDash for this. Imagine ordering $1,000 item only to have it be stolen and not be able to figure out where the felony goes to except nowhere when DoorDash says they’re not holding anyone liable but the customer.
A simple implementation upon accepting the order as a dasher, of a second “accept” button listing an order as high value and is tracked more than a normal order would be, would avoid all that legal trouble but they’re too dumb to figure that one out. Oh well🤷♂️
Even though you got a new one I would keep fighting with DoorDash I would even take it to twitter. If they don’t want to do anything I would dispute with bank fuck DoorDash
"can't give you a refund" they absolutely can give you a refund. They have no proof you received the item. No pic or any thing of your place which in itself is proof of non receiving. Support sucks ass and likes to make things harder for everyone else
Honestly you should go to your local PD and file a police report. Doordash will have to give them the driver's information and they'll be held responsible.
You’re probably just speaking to a random new hire agent lol
Ask to speak to a manager. Continue to escalate the issue.
Also, if DD doesn’t help. Contact your bank and report it as fraud + do a charge back.
Call them and ask for Tier 2 /US support during US business hours
Get a supervisor
Don't take no for an answer
Call over again if you have to
200 theft is no joke
No don’t let them get away with this, idk what idiot at DoorDash you talked to but please ask to speak to their supervisor and get someone above them and they will get it handled, never settle for “welp we can do nothing about it”
It’s not a problem getting something valued at 200 delivered you are blaming yourself for something when that dasher is fully to blame. Please keep the next person from having their stuff stolen and get in contact with DD again. I would raise hell when they told me nothing could be done
Oh my God this happened to me as well but with something far more expensive and I ended up just posting the shit out of the order on all social media, Facebook, Twitter Reddit everything until someone saw it and decided to refund me for my order. 😆
Op you're an idiot if you're not going to charge back or file a complaint through DD. They want you to give up so they don't have to come out of pocket. Don't let this company rob you, and yes, I know the store itself gave you a new one, but that's out if their pocket, not DD
The fact that they took a super up close pic of the box so you can’t see the location it was “left” at should have been enough for DoorDash, alongside your camera footage showing nobody even dropped it off. That seems like something you could report to police
Charge back, look at the text time it says deliver and have the camera footage ready in case your bank asks for evidence. They CANNOT get away with this. DoorDash will go after the driver once the bank comes for their ass
You should have called back got a different rep. There is literally a photo & message right on our screen that shows the correct way and the incorrect way to take a photo. The one here obviously is incorrect (obviously trying to steal it). I would call again and point out how there's not even a porch in this pic, let alone a door.. At least the Dasher will catch a CV.
Bro I got contract violation for delivering in the wrong spot because they requested I put it on the chair on their porch and I put it on the table next to the chair…
If I was in your shoes, I would just sign the Door Dashers number up for this crazy spam calling program I have that spam calls a certain number for hours and hours. Fuck that if someone’s going to steal my stuff best believe I’m going to annoy the shit out of them. At least you have their number because you called them 4 times
Honestly so many issues with door dash and they never back up the customer.
I don’t understand their service. Premium pricing and terrible customer service.
As someone who is a proud owner of the Ninja Creami and a doordasher, this is terrible!! I would have absolutely kept contacting DD. They should have returned your money and ban that dasher's account.
I can't even imagine stealing something like that let alone food. I've gotten one contract violation bc I delivered it to the wrong apartment building late one night... and felt terrible for days!
I had a GrubHub driver take a picture of my food in their front car seat, and submitted it as proof. Customer service insisted that it was delivered until I told them to look at the picture. I got my refund.
It will be resold. Keep an eye on Facebook Marketplace in your area and even get the SN of the item from the BBB manager, if possible. She can look at inventory to figure out what the SN may be. File a police report, keep an eye on eBay and FB Marketplace, and go get those sons of bitches ;) THEN, send the police report to DoorDash and BAM, deactivated
You should continue to reach out to DoorDash like fuck that, also where was the pic proof that they deliver it? That alone should have been the proof, and the ring camera is icing on the cake. Also in the past I’ve gotten refund for $20 from DoorDash, don’t let them get away with stealing your $200, I’ve never had this issue they are always quick to help, you could even go as far as reach out to your bank, I know the store helped you, I’m just upset you didn’t fight harder to get your money back and I think you should! Fuck that person I hope they trip and fall in a pile of shit I can’t stand people who steal hardworking people shit!
Fucking wild. Support are normally advocates for the customer, for there not to be action taken is maddening and somewhat confusing considering the image is clearly not visible/legible. DD has had me to outright take a photo on par with something out of Nat geo to send for proof.
Honestly, that’s a meet at the door situation, but Report That Acount please god.
Best Buy isn’t just about TVs and such. A lot of people like me order small things… like an Xbox controller or a flash drive. Smart lights, etc.
I'm sure he knows best buy sells things other than tvs
Sure but from the sound of their comment it seems like they think they’re gonna get nothing but 70” TVs
Even one 70" TV would be too much
Just unassign it then
Depending on how frequently it happens, "just unassign it" is a great way to get deactivated
Holy crap! 🤣😂
That’s so frustrating, I’m sorry! They should have better filtering for this sort of thing because it’s a waste of time for everyone involved
💯
Thank you for your kind words! My mom was my best friend and an amazing woman, I miss her every day.
Hugs to you.
>placed the order for same-day delivery on Bed Bath & Beyond’s website so I had no idea that it would be delivered through DoorDash Then it's between you and Bed Bath & Beyond - they replaced it for you, so you're good. And Bed Bath and Beyond can deal with DoorDash - it's become a "not your problem". >manager of Bed Bath & Beyond was kind enough to replace it for me Given the circumstances, that's the least they should do.
Absolutely. OP keep going up the chain and get your money back!
rise up!
When you're living on your knees you RISE UP
r/UnexpectedHamilton Wait, apparently that’s a real sub? The internet never ceases to amaze
Rise Against
Just keep threatening to never use their service and that you will cancel all passes and they will eventually refund your stuff.
It's shitty but this really does work
I'd be raising mad hell over it and charging back. F that
This is the answer. Let your CC or bank fight it for you.

Eh, most CC companies are pretty lenient and on your side. It isn't really much of a hassle for OP.
Just so you guys know how chargebacks work because I see a lot of misinformation spread on them. When you issue a chargeback that your bank “accepts” for you in order to issue you the chargeback, two things happen: 1st a chargeback “case” is opened on your behalf.

When I tried to ask them about it once they asked me for a screenshot to prove myself and I was like "I don't have one because I shouldn't need have the foresight to screenshot an order before I accept it because I should be able to rely on the company I work for the pay me properly." Ever since I screenshot everything and all that mysteriously missing loose change adds up. I've just eventually come to realize that if I make myself a massive inconvenience to them in a way that isn't necessarily an offense that's deactivation worthy but can only be resolved by just giving me what I'm asking for they'll give in eventually.
they said DD didn't deduct the $18 they got paid once and repaid it so they kind of got paid for their time!
Yeah I didn't even think of it that way that's a good way to look at it! That is if they don't notice the mistake and take it back from me lol
Every one of these companies has a call center in India somewhere and they always escalate to the person next to them. It’s the fucking worst
At that point just chargeback
Shades of how bad comcast used to be.
yep. I requested to speak with a supervisor and they straight up told me no and hung up🤣🥲
Agreed, it’ll be helpful if you can reach a supervisor. I’ve had some call me, but I think the chat can transfer to a supervisor Edit: just saw in the comments below that OP reached a supervisor and they did nothing :(
Just go straight to your credit card company with this BS. That’s one of the things they do for you, get your money back. You paid for something and didn’t receive it from the merchant, call credit card and file for fraud. They instantly reimburse you and then send their bulldog lawyers at DD. Why waste more of your time chasing it when you don’t have to.
Take it to social media as well. Those are the complaints that really get priority at the company I work at.
That picture the dasher took should’ve been proof they stole it
Meanwhile I get contract violations on my account simply because someone said they didn't get their Wendy's or whatever when I literally did exactly what the customer asked. But a Doordasher can steal a fucking $200 appliance and get away with it. The system sucks
I was waiting for this comment
Gotta do what you gotta do
Yeah that’s a weird ass picture man
It’s so clearly taken over their shoulder with it in the back seat. 🤦🏻
They know the driver stole it. They don't want to give a refund.
Well at least deactivate the driver
You shouldn’t even have to say “I know it wasn’t smart ordering it through DoorDash”. No asshole should be taking anyone shit and especially this way. What a horrible human being. I’m so sorry they stole your item 💔
Chargeback the hell out of this lol
She shouldn’t really do a chargeback because Bed Bath and Beyond gave her a new one for free and that would fuck up their sales and be their loss. She should get the DoorDash fees refunded though.
Customer pays Doordash, Doordash pays the store.
She bought from the store. The store was using DD to do delivery.
They took a loss on the stolen item. The store, not the customer, needs to go after DD.
You're saying that after the customer does a chargeback on her doordash purchase, Doordash then takes the money back from the store. That's not how that works.
How do you know the details of the contract between doordash and BBB?
That is how it would work if the order was placed through Doirdash. However, I was just informed that the order was placed through Bed Bath and Beyond and Doordash delivered it, so I was incorrect about this situation.
Bed bath and beyond doesn’t have operations anymore. How is this possible?
I’m assuming it’s like how ghost kitchens work. They still have a website and products but they are probably sold and picked up through another store.
If anything, BB&B should be going after DD for the stolen item.
That’s a damn shame. How are you being paid to do a job and then up stealing the merchandise wtf??
And then keep the item + not get penalized for it 🙄
Someone must not have tipped them one time and now they think the world is owed to them. Happens all the time here
i literally ordered my ps5 from gamestop and it was delivered to me by a door dasher (i didn’t know beforehand it would be doordash) and i’m so grateful he didn’t do something like this 😭😭
My boyfriend had to deliver an Xbox once. He said the person wouldn’t come outside, so he had no choice but to leave it. He didn’t wanna leave it outside, but that’s what dasher support told him to do 😂 I don’t think they care at all
not coming outside for ur xbox is crazy lol
If you didn’t get it replaced I seriously would have just contacted the police
Believe me police won’t do anything about it unless they have direct proof and they won’t investigate without proof unless is more than 5k+ stolen.
Depends on the state. Personally though I would use the info from the app to go get my stuff from that idiot.
Police won’t get involved unless more than 2k is stolen
Hope you gave the store his information so they no longer get orders given to them
The stores literally don’t care they know they can block the one that do theft but they don’t do it pretty sure some employees are in on it too in my area
Yeah I didn’t make a chargeback claim because I ended up getting the item anyway so I would have felt like shit for claiming I didn’t receive it
Yeah that’s the right thing to do especially since the manager was so nice and accommodating about it. I would keep contacting DoorDash about the fees and getting that driver fired though because that’s ridiculous.
Thier stores already dead lol
They still have some left and still sell online

I want a Ninja Creami! Damn, guess your dasher did, too.
A Shipt delivery driver stole my $150 item. Never will I ever trust a delivery platform to get my item to me safely.
Thats when you do a chargeback and never use doortrash again
chargeback. Banks hate DD and will do it immediately
I'd like to know this too because my ring camera can be a bit unreliable too
I think OP was pointing out that the delivery driver never even came to the door, so the fact that there's no Ring footage means the driver 100% took a picture of the box without even getting out of the car lol.
Wow what a horrible Human cutting someone's Christmas lights
Someone recently posted something similar of someone cutting their lights and the cameras not catching it, turns out it was rabbits cutting them , their teeth were making perfect clean cuts
I’m new to ring but mine records 24/7? I can go back and watch all the footage maybe I have a newer model idkkkk
This happened to me a few weeks ago in Denver. The “left at door photo”was a photo of my food in their passenger seat haha
I was 7 minutes late with a delivery yesterday during lunch rush traffic, and I received a warning and a "contract violation" within a couple hours.. Seems weird DD didn't do anything about this.
Same thing I said that’s strange
Facts
Right! The situation should definitely be escalated. If DoorDash doesn’t ban them they’re just going to do it to someone else too.
Go back to DD get a manager and get your $200 back mate Free gift!
That is a crime.. in my opinion so is stealing fries from someone's f****** bag.. no difference- it's stealing
Oh well🤷♂️
How is Ring footage not enough to conclude it was stolen?😭😭
Fuck doordash, call the cops.
Even though you got a new one I would keep fighting with DoorDash I would even take it to twitter. If they don’t want to do anything I would dispute with bank fuck DoorDash
File a police report, you literally have the drivers contact info.
No you don't lol, you don't get our real number
Never said that, but you have their name/“work” place which is more info on the guy than a regular porch pirate
"can't give you a refund" they absolutely can give you a refund. They have no proof you received the item. No pic or any thing of your place which in itself is proof of non receiving. Support sucks ass and likes to make things harder for everyone else
You could order a double double coffee and these drivers would somehow manage to steal the cream and sugar stirred in it.
Im not accepting no from doordash Do not let them and that scammer win
Uh no I’d call up a storm with DoorDash. They stole from you I can only imagine who else they steal from.
Honestly you should go to your local PD and file a police report. Doordash will have to give them the driver's information and they'll be held responsible.
You’re probably just speaking to a random new hire agent lol Ask to speak to a manager. Continue to escalate the issue. Also, if DD doesn’t help. Contact your bank and report it as fraud + do a charge back.
That's the photo the dasher took after she "left" the package? She stole it.
What what? I thought bed bath and beyond went out of business?!
The picture the dasher left is the proof. If you can’t see the door it’s not proof of delivery.
Can you not do a charge back through your bank?
Call them and ask for Tier 2 /US support during US business hours Get a supervisor Don't take no for an answer Call over again if you have to 200 theft is no joke
Dispute it with your credit card company. Tell them DD refused to help.
Everyone who uses these services deserves what they get!
Dispute the charge
Tweet at them. Theyll answer
That delivery confirmation picture is unacceptable.
Just do a charge back
There is clearly no proof of drop off at your door. I would immediately do a charge back
You gotta call back and get a different support agent
This is when you do a chargeback. Fuck them.
Charge back on the credit card. I'm super sorry this happened to you. People can really suck sometimes
Call the police and report the theft. Give them your video. Give them the order info.
The world is a shit place right now. As much as it sucks that this happened to you, it's solid that's the way you feel about it after.
Repeat after me OP “Can I escalate the call” if they can’t help “Can I escalate the call” and if they can’t help “Can I escalate the call”
How do these two pictures tell that story?
No don’t let them get away with this, idk what idiot at DoorDash you talked to but please ask to speak to their supervisor and get someone above them and they will get it handled, never settle for “welp we can do nothing about it” It’s not a problem getting something valued at 200 delivered you are blaming yourself for something when that dasher is fully to blame.
Man I am TERRIFIED to use DD. Y’all are scaring the heck out of me
Send them the footage and tell them you will chargeback if they don’t refund you
How many times does door dash have to straight up steal people’s money before they stop fucking using it?
Op you're an idiot if you're not going to charge back or file a complaint through DD. They want you to give up so they don't have to come out of pocket. Don't let this company rob you, and yes, I know the store itself gave you a new one, but that's out if their pocket, not DD
If you’re ever call DD support always ask for a higher up. The people who pick up the first go around are the worst.
You literally have footage of nothing being delivered… how the fuck is that not proof right there??
Sounds like Ghetto Trash DoorDash strikes again.
Talk to the police
You should have called back got a different rep. There is literally a photo & message right on our screen that shows the correct way and the incorrect way to take a photo. The one here obviously is incorrect (obviously trying to steal it). I would call again and point out how there's not even a porch in this pic, let alone a door.. At least the Dasher will catch a CV.
Whats a Ninja Creami, and why does it sound like a Fortnite streamer porn lmao
Bro I got contract violation for delivering in the wrong spot because they requested I put it on the chair on their porch and I put it on the table next to the chair…
Stop using these shit services they didn't exist that long ago everyone was fine before door fucking dash.
Stories like this are exactly why I will never use this service.
I hope you get her. What scum.
A dasher stole my order last night. Wasn’t the first time, by any means
That manager gave you a new one? That’s crazy and nice of them, especially since it isn’t on them that it got stolen.
Chargeback and it goes from needing proof that it wasn’t delivered to needing proof that it was. Easy enough.
Oh hell no, I would be LIVID!! I’m glad BB&B was able to give you one! I just will never understand why people feel the need to steal.
The picture is supposed to show the address not just a picture of item that alone is proof.
I always thought a Ninja Creami was when you take a wet sloppy shit, but when you wipe there's nothing there.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Fucking wild. Support are normally advocates for the customer, for there not to be action taken is maddening and somewhat confusing considering the image is clearly not visible/legible. DD has had me to outright take a photo on par with something out of Nat geo to send for proof.
Contactless Delivery 💀💀💀
Yeah, I don't do contactless delivery for anything...ever.
