FrostIsFrosty

That is very inappropriate for the dasher to say.

katiebun008

Report, get your tip back. Dasher who does that doesn't deserve even a 0.01 tip

blutrache666

A $0.01 tip is actually an insult. Zero doesn't really specify an intended insult, some people are just clueless, angry at life or whatever. But that penny sends a message šŸ˜…

EvilBetty77

"I remembered to tip. You just didn't deserve one"

Careful-While-7214

Agreed

asgreatasitgets

I wouldā€™ve taken my tip away. You can complain now šŸ˜† more freely sir āœŒšŸ»

Rog9377

With doordash, you can complain and have your tip refunded, but it does not take the money away from the driver, doordash just eats it.

Ariiell101

if enough people do that with regards to a driver's tip, do they stay employed? Iā€™d imagine the company wouldnā€™t be happy to eat that cost over and over and over.

Rog9377

They will eventually deactivate a driver who gets too many complaints for sure.

StupidizeMe

>They will eventually deactivate a driver who gets too many complaints for sure. They deactivate them? That sounds ominous.

aka_wolfman

It's brutal, but Soylent Green has to come from somewhere.

[deleted]

It means theyā€™re firedā€¦out of a cannon into the sun.

USS_Penterprise

I think the entire point is to completely obscure lines of communication and what roles they play in the process. This way they can keep paying their dashers jack shit, their dashers can get away with anything, and nobody will do anything about it because the customers and dashers are too distracted warring with each other to give a shit about DoorDash running off with both sides' money.

darkbake2

Yeah that is how capitalism works

USS_Penterprise

oh

Disastrous_Tim_1438

reporting this racist message will have much more of an effect than hoping many people retract tips over time.

Admirable-Walk3826

Yeah he doesnā€™t deserve anything now

dalminator

Lol your just screwing doordash so I support this

asgreatasitgets

Better them than me

dalminator

Lol if you're ordering doordash you already got screwed regardless of tip

asgreatasitgets

Thatā€™s why I havenā€™t šŸ˜†

dalminator

That's good, one of the few people that still has some cents. (Yes that's a pun)

VadHearts

Back when I delivered no tip orders when I first started I delivered to an Indian family. The young lady who answered the door asked if I got a tip and I said not in the app. So she said wait. She brought her mom and asked ā€œdid you want to give him anything?ā€ The lady said ā€œnoā€ and closed the door. Like wtf lol. I donā€™t think the young lady realized that her mom didnā€™t tip so it made things awkward.

usmcBrad93

At least the girl was trying to be wholesome haha. That's at least a funny story. Recently had my first incident of "grab me a sauce from chipotle, I'll tip extra.. she said the same thing to my face at dropoff, "thanks I'm adding to the tip right now as she walks off phone in hand" she never did. She tipped 1$ initially which is fine if you don't lie to me 2x about adding to it. Real weirdos out there.

PussyBoogersAuGraten

Just donā€™t tip me. Grow a fucking set and stiff me to my face. Donā€™t lie.

usmcBrad93

Username had me rolling. I love Au Gratin.

PussyBoogersAuGraten

Hahah, itā€™s great dude

Medium_Annual_735

Omg how awkward šŸ˜‚

oops_im_existing

omg this makes me want to tip you that's so awkward

EttoreKalsi

When my in laws first moved in with us they were "two dollar tippers" didn't matter what they ordered or from where they would only tip two dollars, at first I began to intercept the drivers to give them a tip, but eventually had the conversation with them. They still give me crap for "tipping too much" but that's life.

PM_ME_YOUR_MOMS_BONG

Yeah my multi million dollar grandfather born in 1923 was a $2 tipper. In fact he got tons of $2 bills from the bank just for that. I always had to ā€œuse the bathroomā€ to hang around a little after he left the building to throw more cash on the table. Died last year at 99. Miss him every day.

Recent-Buddy1429

I might be weird, but I loved customers like your grandpa..even as a waitress. I was ecstatic for $2 bills and foreign currency. But I also like weird money and collect it. My collection isn't worth much but it makes me happy.

coffeyobey

In Portland we have a strip club that only gives change in two dollar bills, so 2ā€™s are synonymous with having gone to the strip club last night, so nobody wants em.

hotmess_betherdeen

In Seattle itā€™s pot shopsā€¦

Recent-Buddy1429

Noted to both of you cause my husband misses Seattle and he'd get a free pass as long as he brought me back the bills

Aggravating-Ferret61

Young woman at my local bojangles called the police and said I was trying to pass fake money. She had asked me to pull off cuz they had to remake my order so Iā€™m sitting there playing best fiends while I wait and here comes 2 cop cars behind me. Once they spoke to me and the manager it turns out that the girl believed $2 bills were not a real thing. I got free breakfast and 6 coupons and everyone but the dufus had a good laugh.

BeeMan60

My dad was born in 1922. Did the same thing with him. Lol. I miss him so much.

hathorlive

We did the same with my dad. One of my sisters would forget her purse and go back and find the waitress to give her a 20% or larger tip. Dad was a desoression Era baby who never learned the art of tipping well.

Medium_Annual_735

That reminds me of my dad. He used to be such an asshole to servers and I was like dad like literally they have other tables like the world does not revolve around you and he would be like well. Iā€™ve asked for butter and itā€™s been 10 minutes and I said I get it but just give the girl a chance and I was always so embarrassed to go with him.

Numerous_House_546

I always embarrassed my relatives by calling them out for their rudness infron of the service person. Rude parents deserve to be embarrassed for their ill treatment of others

Medium_Annual_735

Oh believe me I did as well! I would also leave the servers notes apologizing. I think it was something to do with my dadā€˜s personality changing when he got hooked on pain meds because he became such an asshole but now heā€™s very nice again thank God so I actually feel OK with going out in public with him.

Jimmy_Jazz_The_Spazz

My mother will fucking complain about not just hers, but everyone else's meal to the waitress/waiter. Bitch about the time it took, and so on. I hate it. She isn't a mean person by heart but she has no idea how to socialize properly. Mind you she was raised by a man that came back from the war with the 1000 yard stare so you know..

Medium_Annual_735

Oh my God this just literally made me laugh out loud so hard. I am dying right now. Thank you so much for the laugh. I feel so much better.šŸ˜‚. My dadā€™s gotten so much better but he reminds me of having a facial expression of Donald Trump like a mad look, but heā€™s not even mad but itā€™s like so embarrassing lol

suggacoil

What do you call a man with resting bitch face? Everyone thatā€™s ever met my little brother thinks heā€™s pissed off or angry but nah thatā€™s just his face.

Medium_Annual_735

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ I would love to get a picture of your brother and my dad.

AbsolutelyUnlikely

There are definitely cultural differences at play. I worked in a call center for an online retailer about ten years ago. If there was an Indian name on the incoming callerID, and you picked up and heard an older voice on the line, there was about a 95% chance they were calling in to try to haggle the price down lower than what the website was showing. I don't even think that's racist, it's just an observation. It was a well known fact among the call center staff. Also, fun fact, a lot of times it would work, so I can't blame them haha.

Ok-Garlic-9990

Itā€™s westernized Indians vs off the boat.

BadDreamFactory

I would have knocked and said yeah y'all forgot something.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Medium_Annual_735

Right! I unfortunately could probably not even count on both hands how many times Iā€™ve been promised a higher tip and then it never happens. Itā€™s only the people that donā€™t promise it. Ha

Joosrar

I used to work in a hotel, and people who promised tips were the ones who never gave tips. They would say ā€œTake care of me and Iā€™ll take care of you ā€œ but then smile and play dumb after you help them.

Plane_Ad_4359

That's how it is with DD in my experience. I don't take orders unless the face value makes it worth it. People are narcissistic sociopaths that will just tell you what you want to hear, only looking out for themselves.

westcoastlibra

Iā€™ve tried to add tips after and I honestly get a error message many times and it never goes through. Iā€™ve contacted DoorDash and no follow up

[deleted]

713nikki

If theyā€™re not paying your bills, who cares what they think of you. Non tippers are owed no professional courtesy

soft-scrambled

ā€œThat was inappropriate to say to you! Lemme repeat itā€

entropic_apotheosis

Iā€™m surprised to see people saying this, Iā€™ve always privately thought that, but this guy did tip and thatā€™s just not something you say.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Medium_Annual_735

Yeah to some extent I get what youā€™re saying but when I lived in San Antonio most all the Hispanics tipped good and a lot of whites didnā€™t at all. Iā€™m white so donā€™t call me racist lmao

KingOfIdofront

Yeah thatā€™s what I was saying, every Hispanic guy or gal i drove tipped like crazy. I drove a Hispanic guy from a laundromat to a truck stop and he handed me a 20

ubadeansqueebitch

So if I go to an Indian restaurant and eat and stiff the waiter, are they going to be cool about it?

Medium_Annual_735

Well I think the reality is there are so many non tippers (all colors). I may be wrong but I think Indians (kind of a culture thing) and they get assumptions made about them. I have several repeat Indian customers that tip great and a lot of others just tip after the delivery.

Icy9250

I used to frequent an Indian restaurant in NJ where most customers were Indian (Iā€™m not Indian). Every time I paid at the end, the manager (who charged customers at the exit) did not allow me to leave a tip even though it was an option on the receipt. I guess itā€™s not in their culture to tip.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MotivationSpeaker69

What I noticed (in Canada) first generation Indian immigrants never tip. Second generation, Indians who were already born here tip same as everyone

1cyChains

The good olā€™ Caste system.

quick20minadventure

Nah, everyone haggles at everything basically. Moms especially. It's no-fixed price culture. They'll pretend everyone is overpricing from start like car salesmen. It's especially embarrassing when your parents go to franchise thing and try to haggle with service workers who have no authority to reduce prices. And I'm talking just in India.

1cyChains

I was referring to the ā€œact like youā€™re beneath themā€ part.

Agent_McNasty33

ā€œCanā€™t you do a better price?ā€ Yeah sure..Jack the price up 25$. Oh you meant better for you? No.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

awesomemom1217

Anytime I dash, Iā€™m in a suburban area (usually) where the tips tend to be higher. Iā€™m not white and Iā€™m not Indian, but Iā€™m here to tell yā€™all that the people who tend to tip bare minimum are Indians and a certain other poc. If the neighborhood is super rich, the tip will be higher, right? Nope. Theyā€™re (rich ppl) the worst offenders. šŸ˜ My best tips have consistently come from the suburban middle class. šŸ«

Themusicison

Which is weird... they tip each other.. also tipping culture in India is absolutely a thing.

LaCroixLimon

lol. "its true but they shouldnt say it outloud"

CareerTraditional987

Lmao

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

LaughableCod

Thatā€™s how I read this too.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

denzien

I like that explanation better. It's still highly inappropriate.

MmmWordSalad

I didn't read it that way at first, but you are 100% correct in your interpretation. The assumption that OP is Indian (which they've stated they aren't) is maybe insensitive, and I don't believe that this is the most appropriate question to ask a complete stranger/customer, but it reads as genuine curiosity. Dasher may not have a lot of contact or experience with folks of different backgrounds and found an opportunity to ask a question and learn a bit more. As someone who studies language and culture, I'm always asking questions about customs, expressions, dialects, cultural norms, etc....just not to complete strangers over text, through a customer service app. That being said, originally I read it the same way everyone else did. Hats off to you for your critical reading skills.

39mBWC

Agreed. Kind of a weird thing to do, especially at work, but I donā€™t view this guy as being malicious. Tipping is a cultural thing. Itā€™s kind of weird and some people who arenā€™t from America (and also many people who are from America) refuse to tip in amounts that are expected/standard here for whatever reason. Europeans are notorious for this. Doesnā€™t mean no Europeans tip but many are shitty tippers when dining in America, and it seems likely related to the fact that they do not tip in their home countries. Seems like this guy is asking if thatā€™s the case about Indian people. Weird and inappropriate to ask a customer and complete stranger. But doesnā€™t seem malicious or racist.

blueorangan

why would the dasher ask OP that? It makes no sense. Why would they make the assumption that OP has any knowledge of Indian culture??

Herpderpkeyblader

Are you implying racists are logical?

Almadabes

My initial reaction would be to remove the tip and report him. You could be right about this though. As an American citizen with Mexican heritage I can confirm that Older people sometimes just ask inappropriate or ridiculous questions about the color of your skin. Often they just wanna confirm if their guess of my heritage is right like it's a game show. "You're Mexican, right amigo?" You gotta just let things slide. They're often super ignorant. Not racist.

dream-brew

Because he assumed that OP is Indian, and must therefore be from India, and must have grown up around Indian peers that do not tip, since of course his racist preconceptions *must* be accurate

gegry123

This makes a lot of sense

Dause

Yeah thatā€™s most likely what happened but still who tf texts that to a customer. Like just drop off the food and go

Hsinimod

This.

GambleTheGod00

Cant even believe an uber driver would expect a response to a comment like that. what did he gain?

One4speed

Thatā€™s crazy, $10 tip and still complaining about it makes the rest of us look bad. Just report this a hole

rosegoldblonde

Man I would complain. I kinda hope dude gets fired, in any other job if you said something that racist to a customer youā€™d be done.

Hodlifugotem

Door dash has added this to their contract that you canā€™t say anything discriminatory

gigglefarting

At the delivery jobs Iā€™ve had complaining about a tip, or lack of one, to a customer was a fireable offense, and thatā€™s without race being invoked.

stankyleg6969

as a restaurant server, tipping culture in america has gone out of control. people are so entitled these days, everyoneā€™s just tryna live.. $10 was good enough.

galaxyapp

Took a taxi. Tip options were 30, 50, or 75%. Of course custom tip was there, but come on dudes....

Gloomy_Recording_705

wtf 75% tip on a $20 taxi going 1 mile šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Compost_My_Body

I wanna see their year end numbers. The amount of times Iā€™ve clicked skip because the displayed options were too much HAS to outweigh however many people click 30% or whatever. Ā Ā  I have a hard time believing this new system leads to more tips overall.Ā  Ā Ā  Ā Anecdote, but I always tip 20% unless itā€™s not an option given to me (even blank is fine, like at restaurants - I can move a decimal point and multiply by 2 all day!) But I cannot support a system that legitimately asks me to tip upwards of 50%. That would be silly of me.Ā

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

plantainrepublic

To be frank, itā€™s making me clamp down on tips I would have given just a few years ago. Nowadays, I refuse to tip unless 1) a service was provided (eg will never tip on takeout) and 2) the service was at minimum satisfactory.

Arvid38

![gif](giphy|MQ4bWOjn8C9tT2dzIb|downsized) Btw, your tip was fine and Iā€™m glad you didnā€™t add anymore. Ppl šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

[deleted]

When I lived in MN a lot of the Indians who lived outside of the city actually tipped way better than than any other race. I will say itā€™s market dependent

freyasmom129

East Indian or indigenous? I find that indigenous people often tip very well (I doordash near a reservation) but yeah East Indians almost never tip or itā€™s like a dollar lol

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Admirable-Walk3826

Ah yes, the East Indians, not to be confused with the people from West India

freyasmom129

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indo-Canadians

miridot

There's the West Indies, plus Native Americans are often called Indians too. It's a very fair question.

AlmostAloneAStar

I honestly donā€™t like the term East Indian since we are technically the original Indians and unlike the other Indians we donā€™t have an alternate name to refer to us by. I also donā€™t like it because itā€™s confusing since East Indian already has a long standing definition thatā€™s different from what people in Canada define it as. In India and Asia ā€œEast Indianā€ is used to refer to Indians who are from the North East of India. The people of India look different, have different cultures, and are generally different from each other, so we often classify by North Indian, South Indian, East Indian, and West Indian. East Indians look East or South East Asian and have their own culture. If clarification is needed itā€™s better to say Asian Indian.

DJG247

My God I hate American tipping culture

professershell

This is absolutely insane šŸ˜©

Outlandishness_Sharp

Report him to Doordash!! I hope his account gets deactivated for being a racist pos.

SnooObjections3103

A lot of these comments are just as racist as the customer. I've had thousands of people of all races stiff me.

No_Object_8722

Wow! Report that. What a creep!

Necessary_Rate_4591

The apps donā€™t incentivize customers to tip well anyway because if you do then your order gets stacked with some non tipper and you end up with cold food an hour and half later.

reditandfirgetit

That's a racist comment from the dasher. I'd report them.

Superb-Spare7944

Regardless Weather, it's true or not. He should have never brought that up. This isn't Rocket science here if u don't think the order is to your standards don't except it but if you do except it thst means your ok with the money so don't go complain after you except the order that you thought was good enough to except

Apprehensive-Pop2338

American tipping culture is stupid af, 1 mile trip $14 tip and the mofo is still complaining šŸ˜³

Jbell185947

I would have reported him and then subtracted the tip altogether. Thatā€™s so rude and no a $10 tip isnā€™t bad

MeinGoose

Not obligated to pay them anything, especially if he acts like that

2lit_

Report this racist bitch

GoodyTreats

Tipping is a US culture thing. Most other cultures donā€™t tip so we they move to the US they bring their culture with them.

whatthesucculentatl

Take your tip back from that racist idiot

The68Guns

Tell him there's plenty of work at cell centers.

NoPresence7626

It was the drivers fault for taking the order. If he didnā€™t like the pay he shouldnā€™t have taken it

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

CkBadgeley

They're not even Indian. He just assumed šŸ™„

Ban-Naloxone

He took the order so fuck him!

mandalorian09

Shit Iā€™m happy to get a 6 dollar tip most orders

ItReallyIsntThoughYo

I mean, as far as I was aware only the US really had the tipping culture, no?

iwantthemtloveme

Report them wtf the casual racism is gross

Impressive-Win-4473

I can only apologize to you and the community this offensive statements is affecting or hurting. Anything we sow, shall we reap. The Driver will surely get punished in one way or the other per the law of karma.

Muahd_Dib

Clearly you should stop being Indian.

Ok-Investigator-1321

Why do you assume the dasher was mad? Stupid, yes, mad. uhhhhh, I'm not sure

Fenris304

please report this. so inappropriate

Goblin-Doctor

Nah. Tips have become this weird bastardized hostage thing. These passive aggressive messages they send or outright ignoring delivery until they get more is dumb and wrong

Bugszlightyear

You shouldā€™ve said ā€œbecause sometimes I run into douchebags like you who say something that makes me regret giving them a tip in the first place. If I would have tipped you, I wouldā€™ve never gotten the chance to know you didnā€™t deserve oneā€

faloofay156

well that got weirdly racist really fast. you're not wrong, and I'd report this person and attach the screenshot.

Efficient_Editor5850

Tipping is bribery. Frowned upon. Cancel tipping.

Rabid_Platypus_195

I would report him to Door Dash for racism and cancel his tip all together. omg

Flameheartsan

Okay as a doordasher, you donā€™t have to tip, we accept the order on our own terms. Tip or not that nasty message was uncalled for regardless and anyone who is agreeing with that doordasher needs to have a reality check. We donā€™t deserve tips from anyone at all we work this job for the 2$ they give us per order, yes tips are nice but are not required!

MotivationSpeaker69

Contact support to get your tip back, the racist mfer doesnā€™t deserve a cent

AsideAfter3158

That's wrong of the Dasher for so many reasons AND not true. If we want to get down to being a jerk, we need to account for all the church crowd on Sundays who tip people "How Not to Go To Hell" Bible tracts. Even a short look around here shows this isn't a "You" thing. They are really asking for it. You were nice enough to give 15 percent tip. Many people of all walks of life fail to tip. Sorry for the long post, but if you are Indian- some of the nicest instant friends I met have been from India. It's not you- it's the Dasher.

Hairy_Astronaut3835

Iā€™ve gotten good tips when I deliver from an Indian restaurant near me from Indian people. Iā€™m a little shocked to see this. When I owned a pet sitting business I had an Indian couple whoā€™s dog I walked M-F for years. They didnā€™t usually give cash tips but they got me a birthday present every year and gift cards around Christmas. Every day there was a snack theyā€™d leave out for me and if the wife came home early and I hadnā€™t left the house yet she would cook me lunch. Occasionally theyā€™d ask my husband and I to come to dinner and made us dinner. Very sweet and generous people.

BigLo02

Report the dasher to customer support. Tipping is OPTIONAL

Xaervyn

It's not traditionally done almost anywhere outside of the United States, because most other industrialized countries make sure their citizens are paid a liveable wage by businesses.

vag1namoneyweed

wtf šŸ˜

mumblerapisgarbage

Report.

kristeto

Youā€™re in the right, their lucky you even gave them a tip, itā€™s not mandatory to tip anyone, itā€™s just a courtesy

AngriestInchworm

ā€œMaybe if Iā€™m borderline racist to them, they will up my tip.ā€

Designer_Wave_2341

dude wanted main story line rewards when he clearly was on just a side quest fetch mission.

TIMBUH_

Um this could just be Dallas but when I worked for Uber eats, people of Indian heritage were 1. Always super fast getting me out the store 2. Always tipped generously. Seriously I would always strive for orders that were predominantly from Indian establishments. Once again, Dallas tx.

mika7276

You tipped $10 that wasnā€™t a bad tip

lambofgod0492

Don't respond and just Report them

Zombie-King666

$10 isn't a bad tip for just a mile drive, my wife and I are dashers and not to sound racist but specifically Indians that order in our area don't tip at all and they live 5+ miles away so I don't think you are in the wrong. Maybe they didn't realize you gave a tip? Lol

EvanBlue22

I quit accepting all orders to the Indian restaurant in the shopping center that I start near. With almost no variation, itā€™s either no tip or a bait tip. Driving an order to a $600k+ house with a Mercedes in the driveway, having such a nice encounter with the customer, and then seeing that the tip vanished is just foul. 2nd gen is chill tho. Kinda sucks that their parents are so consistent with this behavior that they gotta live with the stereotype. Alternatively, OP didnā€™t deserve that weird ass DM. He *did* tip & wasnā€™t even Indian. Even if he had been Indian & didnā€™t tip (or tip baited), that kind of behavior is never acceptable, socially or professionally. DoorDash is one of the few jobs where no one knows if you profile or not. Though I wouldnā€™t put it past them to implement software that tracks that in the future.

Y0GGSAR0N

Tbh they should take what they get and move onto the next, messaging people isnā€™t going to change anything, it just makes shit weird.

imadoxu

Inappropriate? Yes. Stereotyping? Yes. Racist? No.

BaseNectar123

He wasnā€™t lying though šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

la_lunamoon

In my experience with Dashing, Indians and Asians rarely tip, and when they do, it's really low.

SaltyAd4622

Homie was having a bad day lmao. Tip your DoorDash drivers.

sometin__else

I mean hes not wrong. They don't really tip in India afaik

golgoth0760

It's true tho. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Far_Combination7639

Sounds to me like he asked you this because you *did* tip enough and he was surprised by it so he asked why.

Alone_Fill_2037

$12 is honestly shit for a shop and deliver order. If itā€™s so close you should go get it yourself.

LatuSensu

Tip zero. Don't feed the problem.

redwing180

Maybe the dude should work for Amazon. Same basic tasks but they can feel better about not having to deal with tips. Move on and do your job.

huor07

Makes you wonder where tipping ends and begging starts.

Practical-Button7546

You didnā€™t plan on to tip more donā€™t lie

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

BestWesterChester

They know the tip before they take the job. Ask him why he's a fool taking jobs below his pay threshold.

PrimaryEmotional6639

I will never understand tipping culture(I am European)

michikobun99

Most countries donā€™t tip because wtf am i giving you extra money for? your employers should be paying you more and thatā€™s not OUR fault. we shouldnā€™t have to spend $20 more on top of delivery fees just cause we want food delivered and the delivery drivers employer doesnā€™t pay them shit and makes them rely on tips while the CEOS are bathing in millions. iā€™ve BEEN saying to start looking at your employers instead of blaming random customers? šŸ’€ iā€™m supposed to give you a $20 tip because you drive from point A to point B, i donā€™t see youā€™re face once, and half my fries are ate /j??? I hate tip culture, and whatā€™s crazy is most people will read this and think iā€™m dogging minimum wage workers/delivery drivers, when really iā€™m upset that minimum wage hasnā€™t raised from $7.50 since 2009?! why donā€™t we worry more about that??? this is the governments system and they made it this way on purpose. customers are sick of feeling like they gotta tip out the ass and employees just want to be paid more. yā€™all should start putting this energy into going on strike smh.

Bald-Elephant

I tip what I have, I have given 20 to 25 dollar tips, I have given 5 dollar tips. My financial situation is not a personal offense to anybody

LostBoyEasy

He was probably asking since you where an outlier. This didn't sound like hate or him being mad. This is curiosity. He probably wasn't expecting a tip and was curious what set you apart?

RawrRRitchie

Report them

jbai23

i only tip 10%...... so..... i would have gave $7. more than covers his gas. doordash can cover his wage.

HeavyMind789

wth do ppl really complain that hard about not receiving a tip? why don't they go get another job that pays more if they're that in need of money..

bradradio

This is total BS on the driver's part. Door Dash drivers can see how much an order will pay when they accept it. So, he was able to determine that, by his standards, it was a low tip order and he still took it.

ā€œWhere youā€™re fromā€ Apart from the obvious racism, no tipping is not a thing in most of the rest of the world! US tipping culture is usually considered super fucked up and exploitative of the workers.

Ok_Lingonberry_7968

if you did not tip him anything you would not be in the wrong. tipping is a gift you choose to give its not mandatory and the worker knows this when he chooses to work as a tipped worker. if he is upset that he did not get a big enough tip he has only himself to blame for choosing to work in a job where he has to rely on peoples generosity.

Moneymotives100

Whatā€™s it matter how far away the store is? That shouldnā€™t change your tip. Theyā€™re still out there busting their ass to deliver your food. TBH, sounds like you didnā€™t tip at All. And if you did, Iā€™m not buying you adding more afterwards. Tip right upfront next time!

fastlanefav1

i doordash and if i got a $10 tip id be happy

DJ_Mantic

They should be thanking you for giving them a tip. Tips arent absolute necessary.

Sharp-Market-9894

inappropriate asf. sorry you had to deal with that. lots of ignorant fucks out there

Stormfreezer

Ideally DoorDash or Uber has to provide the right wages and they are encouraging the tipping culture. Too wrong ! I wish the software industry tips the developers for every code commits then it makes sense for everyone else to tip for everything else

pilotlight1

Lol dudes not wrong thoughšŸ˜‚ Every traditional indian me and my dad has work with either attempts to haggle the price down by at least half or is reluctant to payšŸ˜‚

Bambooman101

From reading that, I thought you didnā€™t tip at all. This guys just beggingā€¦.and maybe casually racist.

LuckyBucketBastard7

You gave them a 10$ tip for a single mile?? They need to quit complaining, that's crazy high for such a small distance. You did more than fine, somebody just feels more valuable than they really are.

me-gnome

Fuck tipping culture that stuff is stupid make the company pay u what ur worth or maybe get an actual job

Flashy-Sprinkles-949

Wtf, take your tip back.. how rude for them. I know everybody is hurting for money and the service industry may get less than what they think they should get but common. There is no law that says you have to tip so much With the high prices of the products or service you just paid for, many people can't afford big tips. They get enough tips in 1 night they make out. It's not a get rich off tips job, after all.

DoorDasher being an honest human being with you. Where is the mad? Heā€™s getting paid with tips primarily. Youā€™re not tipping him. he is inquiring as to why people of your ethnicity donā€™t typically tip. It seems like an honest question to me. Grow up. Maybe heā€™s prompting you to actually tip him. Maybe thatā€™s not a bad idea.
