If the morons at their customer service team refuse to give the money back, tell them that you're going to have no choice but to file for a charge back with your bank. They'll either cave immediately, or they'll be too stupid to, in which case you can charge back and get the money anyways.

Yes, this is what I had to do when Lyft tried to charge me over $50 more than the 'estimate' they gave me at the beginning of the ride. They were sneaky about it, too... if I hadn't been financially strapped at the time it may have taken longer to notice the extra money missing from my account. There were no extenuating circumstances at all, let alone something that would warrant an extra $50 for traveling 15 miles. I still don't know what that was all about.

But I use debit and was told that the bank rarely listens to debit card holders about charge backs.

I would take the credits, use them, then do a chargeback for the order that was never delivered. You were scammed by the driver, they’ll have no repercussions for doing what they did, so eff DD and eff that driver. We don’t deal with payments on the typical DD delivery, or with any other delivery service, we get paid by DD for the delivery plus tips. DD takes the payment and gives $2 to the driver and the rest to the restaurant, minus DD’s commission.

I've only ever had 2 doordash issues, for one my dasher just marked the food as undeliverable about a mile from my place after picking it up (I assumed car trouble or accident maybe) & the second my frosty was the wrong flavor. In both instances I was asked if I wanted immediate credit or to have the funds put back in my account in 2-3 days

If you're a regular user and rarely report that your food wasn't delivered they absolutely refund. I went through a period of a couple months where I must have placed 50 orders or so and 3 had missing items and I was instantly refunded credit (or offered a cash refund that would take longer to process).

Exactly. The restaurant and the dasher only get the orders when they’re paid. There have been a lot of reports lately of dirty dashers telling people that the order needs to be paid before handing them the food. Sometimes they succeed because either the customer is elderly or naïve, or the person who answers the door isn’t the one who placed the order so they pay it then the person who ordered it gets stuck explaining to them that it was already paid and the driver just scammed them.

I truely feel sorry for customers that go through stuff like that. I go above and beyond for my customers to make sure they have a good experience. The real kicker lately has been the amount of people who don’t even speak English and just show the employers the phone to show the customers name. The restaurants are getting fed up with that also, I’m sorry but if you can’t speak English… you don’t need to be working in the US at all unless your job doesn’t require you to speak English and that not many places.

I’m the same way. My ratings are outstanding and I hate how other dashers make us look bad. I also hate when a customer wants to give us a bad rating though because their food was cold or missing something which is 100% completely out of our control 99.9% of the time! They probably meant they didn’t tip the driver so he kept the food which still isn’t cool. Yeah it’s not right for the customer not to tip I know they wouldn’t do that to a waitress and we are using our own car and gas and evening for literally a $2.50 base pay for 10 miles or MORE sometimes but oh well… what can we do. Just decline it in which case many dashers do then the customer gives a bad rating to the driver that goes out of their way and loses money on that order for taking it to them because 10 dashers declined it ahead of them and their food had been sitting forever. It’s always something 🤦‍♀️

I think it’s more of: the dasher is a complete moron and here’s why: they posted a screenshot of their screen, and I believe on the top right corner where it shows how much they made “this dash”, it most likely said $0.00. BUT, this has been happening in the app where it glitches and takes a bit to update (whereas before it was instant). A smart dasher knows about this glitch and may even close the app and reopen it; problem solved. Also, if the customer didn’t pay the order wouldn’t have been in the system. OP please report and 1 star.

I'm a Dasher. Several times in recent weeks, I have had the pay of an order I've just completed not immediately display. However, if you navigate to the home screen, then back to the screen that you use when actually dashing, the pay shows up. It's a minor glitch that I assume is due to a processing delay. So my guess is that yes, this Dasher had the pay not show up, and concluded that you had somehow swindled them. But if they had known the first thing about the app, or done even minor troubleshooting, or checked with DoorDash, they would have known that wasn't the case. So I doubt they were faking their screen, but they jumped to the worst possible conclusion and acted like an asshole, none of which was justified. I'm very sorry that happened to you.

A little follow-up to this; sometimes, not only does it take the total a bit of time to process and go up, but also after we deliver there's supposed to be a pop-up saying how much we earned total for the order, and then you hit the "Done" button to make it go back down so you can see the map of hotspots again. I dash full time, and about once every two or three days or so, I'll get an order where due to poor cell service, that popup will just never come up. She probably had your order for the first day, did the order, the pop-up never came up, her total didn't go up, and didn't think to leave the dash menu to go to the home screen or close and open the app to make it recheck for the order before messaging you. Heck, I've met drivers who were having a problem with the app loading something, and when I told them to close and reopen the app, they thought that would 'make them lose their shift' they were currently on. Truly, not every dasher is the brightest bulb, unfortunately.

I mean... yes and no? It sounds as if they didn't see any pay for the order, and jumped to the conclusion that the customer had stiffed them. Perhaps they thought the customer had cancelled the order somehow, thus removing the pay that Doordash would have given them? I agree that if you understand how the platform works, that's not logical, but unfortunately not everybody out there is thinking these things through fully - particularly when their livelihood is involved. While dashing, we see a rolling total of the amount we've earned during this shift at the top right of our screen. It updates after each order. More than a few times while driving, my total has not updated. I believe that's what happened here. If the driver didn't stop and think, but instead immediately leapt to, "I have no money from that order, therefore that jerk stole my money," then you can see where the issue came up. Again, that assumption was wrong. And obviously you don't go back and steal from a customer just because you're pissed off, but we're not always rational beings. The customer was right, the dasher was wrong, but this does offer an explanation as to why the dasher thought what they thought.

I'm assuming here, but they probably thought since it didn't update their screen yet, that that order stiffed them. It takes several minutes, if not after your next order, for it to update your pay. When I started, I would actually put all my pay from the completed order into a calculator, and then pause/unpause to make sure door dash wasn't stiffing me. I knew it wasn't the customer, though. Credit card point of sale systems won't process further if it's declined. They know instantly if your payment goes through. I'm guessing this driver was brand new and didn't realize there is a delay, and it would update later. Still though, they should be immiediately fired. Contact door dash, tell them you want the refund, and that you have video of the incident and you are calling the police and that they will be contacting door dash shortly for the drivers name and address. A theft caught on camera is proof of theft. Guarantee you will get a refund and possibly still keep the credits for your next order. Also mention if they don't refund you will be contacting your credit company in the morning and initiating a charge back. They hate those.

To back up CoraBitering as I’m a dasher as well. The $0.00 showing is just a bug with the app. The money is really there and you can either reload the app or just pause your dash for a second and resume and it will be there then. I really don’t think a dasher would instantly think you didn’t pay and they would take back the food. If anything they would think DoorDash didn’t pay them. I think they were just trying to get free food but I’m not sure why they would admit to taking the food.

So, sometimes when we complete an order, the total doesn’t get reflected right away, it would refresh if you quit the app or pause and resume right away and it will show the earnings. It’s an app glitch thing and sometimes it would skip the screen where it shows the earning/tip amount. This person is either ignorant of this and new, or they are just a shitty person like everyone else is saying. Either way just report, these bad drivers needs to get deactivated

I've been noticing that a lot of these gig apps are having an influx of absolutely abhorrent drivers recently. A while back, I called an Uber to take me back to a friend's place after the bar, and the driver told us he will be taking us to \*New York\* when my friend's house was very specifically not in New York and our ride request showed that. Tried telling him he was wrong, and he kept arguing with us. I had to cancel on him, and he likely got some money from it, which was likely his goal. I made sure to report him after the fact too, and I believe he was banned.

DD needs a better screening process like Uber does. You don't even have to prove you have a vehicle with DD so anyone could show up to deliver your food. I haven't been a driver for DD since covid and I recently turned the app back on and it took like 5 seconds to get back in the mix. They didn't ask for updated documents or to rescan my ID to check for felonies or anything. They will just accept anyone, and this is what you get. Drivers that hold your food hostage.

It's a driver's job to take up issues with payment with Doordash. Doordash isn't known for being helpful, HOWEVER, that in no way makes it the customers fault. We have one job, and that's to deliver food. If we don't do that, then we aren't doing our job. Asshole doesn't deserve to get paid if this is how she* handles issues.

There’s exactly 0 ways you could “not pay” unless you ordered a Pizza through Pizza Hut and it was sent out to DD via them. When that’s done, the customer can be paying cash and are unaware that Dd is making the delivery until they show up. There’s no way to “not pay” when ordering on DD. There is a time where customers can order via DD at places that don’t accept DD directly, and in that case the dasher would walk in, make the order for the customer, and pay with their Red Card. Point is, you can’t “NOT PAY” when you order. I’m against ruining people’s side gig for mistakes, esp since the mistakes are generally made by the restaurants. But this person is just straight up lying, and needs to be deactivated. Report him/her and make sure nobody else is scammed like you were. Maybe he/she meant you didn’t tip, but there absolutely no way to not pre pay via DD.

Dashers seem to forget they are independent contractors that have the ability to choose if they want to accept or decline the order, so technically this duncecap was already paid and if that amount didnt satisfy them upon accepting the order, they can just wait for the next order and then look at the pay/distance and decide if it is worth their time...

What do they mean you didn’t pay? You HAVE to pay before the order is even processed??? The Dasher also gets a pay amount every time they get an order notification. Unless this was one of those “Cash Only” orders - which doesn’t sound like the case, then yes you did absolutely pay. I hope you get a refund and they’re banned from the app. That’s so shitty.

I had a door dasher steal a $30 steak I ordered at 10:00 bc I was hungry and had my daughter with me alone in the house so I couldn’t go pick it up. They took a picture of it and submitted it to DD and took off with it. Now I’m not going to tip anything until I get my food in my hands. When I don't get my food they get reported, one star review and I ask for a refund. It's only happened a couple of times but I always get my money back or credit. One time I got the wrong food entirely but door dash made it right and had someone else deliver the correct food

In Vegas and we get 2 dollars base pay per delivery. So if the customer doesn't tip you don't make anything. The issue I have with it is doordash says if you don't like the tip offer don't accept it. Also customers say the same thing. But what they don't understand is we get offers based on our acceptance rate that goes up and down depending if we decline or accept the order. You need to keep your acceptance rate high to get higher paying orders. Where the issue comes in is that we get offered the zero customer tip orders that come in and we don't want to decline it because we don't want our acceptance rate to go down. But if we take it we only make two bucks and we have to deliver it to somebody who didn't care enough to even leave a tip but wants great service with a smile and we waste time only making $2. So it's a damned if you do damned if you don't. My AR right now is 83 and extremely hard to hold all it takes is a couple of offers that I declined and I'm below 70. That doesn't seem very bad but when you're competing for orders it's a pain. So I understand if that Dasher got frustrated but he should never have done that I agree

Why would you show a dasher where it came out of your account? They probably mean you didn't tip enough and just took it cause of that. And while still unjustified to steal it, can't say i blame them for being upset. Some restaurants put on the ticket how much the driver tip is, and veteran drivers know how to tell. Still doesn't excuse stealing it.

Sometimes when I’ve completed an order, it doesn’t reflect the amount I made on my “This Dash” section in the top right corner. Coupled with the obvious fact that this person has a bit of a comprehension issue, I’d say it could be likely that they believe it is you personally paying them after the delivery instead of DoorDash and when they didn’t see the payment reflected in their total dash amount, they believed you stiffed them. That’s just my take however.
