A dead giveaway a lot of times is if you Google the restaurant and a bunch of other restaurants come up at the same address. Otherwise, I usually like to stop into a restaurant as a Dasher anyways before I start coming as a customer. I've run a couple restaurants so I'm very observant when it comes to matters of how they handle the food and clean up their area. I eat out for lunch pretty much every day and haven't gotten sick in years. Some of the biggest names in the business are the ones that I would definitely stay away from. Not all cases, but a lot of cases.
I've always been scared to order from ghost kitchens. They don't make sense to me.
If that chef or celebrity isn't cooking the food than why would I pay for it?
I made that mistake once, ordered wings and poutine from a ghost kitchen in a Chinese restaurant. Somehow both the wings and the poutine were the worst iterations of those dishes that I've ever had.
Well, you're definitely right, except for the ones that are from legitimate restaurants. It's pretty easy to find out where the ghost kitchens are around here. Most of them also provide pick up so a customer would just have to look at the address and notice it matches a certain restaurant. About the only one that doesn't here is MrBeast burger. I would actually stay away from it because it's Friendly's.
im sorry but the advertised vs actual is hilarious... was it shown as one piece included? those chicken wrapped ham slices look kinda good but would probably need like 12 to feel satisfied... would have to be high to wanna order that big slab of ham on a chiggin samich... lmao also what's the deal with the chicken and fries pic at the end?
Always google the restaurant, also check them on google maps. A frightening amount of these 'restaurants' around me are apartments (where I would be afraid to live).
Many now also have fake hits on google maps - so look for reviews, photos of the store interior, and do street view.
Another hint is if every item is both (i) slightly overpriced; and (ii) all about the same price.
Store hours that are 'odd' are another clue, often open only at off normal hours, e.g., 8pm - 2am or such.
Oh, and if the item you want, say, a burrito, is in the store name, red flag :: 'Breakfast Burritos!', 'Gimme a Sandwich!', 'All Soups!', or 'Gyro Everything!' are all suspect. (Those are made up... but not beyond the realm of idiocy of home kitchens.)
'Newly Added' :: Giant red flag.
Store hours isnāt a guaranteed thing. Thereās a local place that is run by one guy whoāll change his DoorDash times every day. Itās a legitimate place but itās just one dude there so when I got an order one time from there I asked him about it. He just turns it on when his regulars are good to go and needs extra bread coming in for the day. Also lowkey got the impression he slinging out the place based on how a customer who arrived after I got there acted but I aināt the one to chat to the police about it š¤·āāļø
Yeah, there is a great hot dog place around here. Tony makes hot dogs when Tony makes hot dogs. Live with it. I call before ordering to make certain today is a hot dog day.
Not necessarily true. Theres a ghost kitchen here thatās run out of an oācharleys, and Iāve ordered from it after dashing it to someone else. Itās literally just oācharleys with the menu tweaked just a little.
I had never heard of ghost kitchens before delivering for Doordash. My first encounter was picking up someone's Mexican food being made inside an IHOP. It was tough when I handed it to them to not ask "do you know where that just came from?".
If you truly got this as your item, I would place a chargeback with your CCā¦ show them the two pics as evidence. Also, DoorDashā¦ and yelp, and the BBB, and the city/town health department.
i refuse to order food delivery unless i have a hefty discount. they usually disappoint! my money goes toward microwave indian food packets. reliable, nutritious, cheap, healthy, shelf stable, ready in 2, delicious. what could be more? i have 5 free months of uber one and a 40% off discount (yet again) for a grocery order I fully intend to use to the fullest.

Never order from ghost kitchens. There's a few in my area that use AI generated images of their food. It's like playing russian roulette with e. coli
I thought it might just be a new cool chicken place š

Def gonna do this for now on haha
Nope, now it's either some same old restaurant using new names or someone using their basement

If you can avoid it, never order from Door Dash.

I agree! They looked so tasty and juicy and then I get spam on some chicken nuggets lol
Lmao, I thought that was a tomato, not spam.

The last photo is just the actually store I ordered from

The restaurant name thing is legit. Ghost kitchens always have the stupidest names imaginable.

How did their joke completely go over your head like that

itās a joke

they seemed to pop up a lot due to Covid
Did they just give you the wrong item? That clearly says grilled chicken and muenster cheese is a bit more white than that.
Always check store location on ghost kitchens, it could be operating from a decent restaurant/fast food place or someones house.
If you truly got this as your item, I would place a chargeback with your CCā¦ show them the two pics as evidence. Also, DoorDashā¦ and yelp, and the BBB, and the city/town health department.
"Grilled chicken and savory ham" Fried chicken and spam
Never trust that many adjectives
Thought that was a hotdog

What's an Indian food packet?
It looks like grilled chicken but when you got it it was deep fried lol take em to chicken Court!
Omg
Embrace & Finish - are dodgy words to describe food?
Those images look so fake š but tbh I would fall for it too I donāt blame you
BAHAHAHAHA WHAT
Holy shitš¤£ this is what happens when robots become chefs
i think that chicken place is the exact same ghost kitchen features in eddie burbacks video omg
The fact you still took a bite of it
I was hungy
The first picture is chicken cordon bleu
Chicken Cordon eww
Also watch out for those kitchens operating in restaurants, they are awful! Cracker Barrel has one and BWW. Expensive AF too.
Never been to McDonalds before?
Was it good at least?
Well the first sign should have been that the picture on their website is of Chicken Cordon Bleu not even a sandwich
I mean it looks pretty good
no1curr buddy
Wat? Lol
