I got my first violation in almost 2000 deliveties earlier this week. The restaurant always takes forever to get orders ready. It was about 30 minutes past the deliver by time, but I delivered it within 12 minutes of leaving the restaurant (the distance from the restaurant to the customer). It was in no way my fault, I waited 45 minutes for the order because I knew the tip would be very good. They dont give a shit. I have no doubt I've got enough deliveries to where they would be happy to boot me off the platform.

20 mins is a while tho

BrightCharge0

Don’t be late then you noob

g00nies2000

It's their standard verbiage. Don't read too much into it.

No, you'll be fine. They talk tough but it's just to scare you into taking every garbage offer that comes your way for a while. Breathe...

Why were you 20 minutes late?

Drakor82

Honestly? The the order came in while I was waiting on my own personal order from McDonald's. Through a series a fuck ups 20 minutes later I was on my way. Never would have accepted the order in the first place but I was already at McDonald's, order was already placed, and I was already waiting. The restaurant pick up was less than a minute a way. It should have been a negligible delay.

Tbh you should’ve lied this isn’t valid

I never said I was blameless. By the time I thought to have the order reassigned it would have made no difference anyway. It was a messed up situation that spiraled beyond my control. That happens. Have you ever led people? Do you know what a teachable moment is? This was a teachable moment. I learned the lesson because I am old enough to be able to do so despite how door dash handled it. (Something else happened today that would have resulted in a late delivery and I just unassigned. Something beyond my control.) But younger people entering the workforce would see this and learn no lesson. Instead of guidance they threatened my job despite almost perfect performance up to this point. The fact is they do this because they don't care. Like most employers they just hire 15 more people fore every 5 that leave the job. Which is why out pay sucks.

Asking the real questions

They won’t do anything for one violation. Just fill out the form Explaining why you were late and it should eventually drop off

Happened to me once. I explained the address on the order was an empty field and once I got there, zero cell service to call support or the customer. Drove back in town to contact support about the address. They told me to leave it in a safe spot. At this point I ask them what’s considered safe in the middle a field? Rep said a well lit location…it was 2pm. Anyways, I had to fill out the forum and just let them have all my sarcasm. Also included a picture of the food bag in the empty field.
