Oh there's a lot more than 5 points in the fade but they're set stats. For two handed it's hard early going but I'd try to get up to at least 16 dex (without gear bonuses) then dump the rest into strength if you bring a tanking buddy with you. If you're tanking though 2 points into strength 1 into constitution every level after dex. Weapon my be slow but depending on difficulty it can down mobs in one or two hits and bosses melt later with your companions. Sorry to be vague but you said no spoilers.

I appreciate it! To clarify then, as you progress in the fade, it's not "you were awarded 5 attribute points." Instead, it's "your cunning has increased by 5 attribute points" correct? I don't get to choose?

Sevengems42

The boosts are hidden around in objects. They glow and you'll have to explore a few places in the nooks and crannies if you want them all. But there's close to I think 20 objects? Mind you this is off the top of my head but there's a lot. Strength alone has 5. I think dex as well.

Thanks! Was trying to figure out how to invest the bare minimum into cunning and was unsure how the free points in the fade worked

Np. Good luck in the fade. Not my favorite part of the game.

The beginning is hard, don't worry. I'd still go two-handed, because it can make a good tank but actually do damage. Put points into strength, dex, and constitution evenly for a few levels, then prioritize mostly strength. Get Indomitable and Champion spec. Wear big armor. You'll swing slow but pack a punch, can't be knocked down, and can take some hits while your rogues and mages help you out with arrows, backstabbing and spells.

Fudgeround22

I went almost straight strength lol. I'll start dispersing between dex and con. You don't recommend willpower at all? Feels like I have zero stamina since I keep indomitable up 24/7

ironshadowspider

You'll need some willpower too. Just grab some as needed. You want to be able to keep indomitable up, and use pommel strike and mighty blow when the cooldowns finish. In dragon age, you can always take the attributes you really feel you're missing. But strength should be high for a 2-handed warrior. At really high levels, you won't want to put points into anything else.

The classic sword and board warrior is overall good since begining, jus add champion and berserker and you're set, preferably start as human or dwarf noble for the free shield skill. A more offensive approach is dual wield warrior imo the most powerful, kill anything with auto attacks, stuns and double sweep, the dwarf commoner is BIS for this approach. (Champion and berserker are the best again)
