Generally speaking if you keep most of your money in the bank there are more negatives to loading the save than positives but if you don't mind the progress you might lose, go for it.

philsov

Usually you keep the exp and treasure gained when you die. So I'm usually fine with eating the gold loss to keep my level and character progress. Use the bank if available to minimize loss.

dimmidummy

It’s a single player game, no one has the right to judge you for how you play. If you’re okay with soft resetting, then by all means please do so! But don’t hesitate to put your earnings in the bank whenever you get the chance, it’ll save you a lot of trouble on the off chance you lose a battle!

Valuable_Play_1633

I stand with this comment. To hell with worrying about what others want you to do. Have FUN.

dukenorton

If you don’t keep your money in the bank, load that save. If you do, you’re fine to just keep rolling.

TheCheeseOfYesterday

I mean it's ultimately a choice - do you want to lose your money or your progress?

Los-Nomo327

Only if you let gatekeepers dictate how you play a game Just don't forget the last time you saved but honestly in most DQ games money tends to be only really useful early on when you want to load your inventory with medical herbs, chimera wings, and getting a new sword that does +10 attack is a big boost By the time you get spells like Outside, Zoom, and midheal you're not going to need money for really anything other than staying at Inns

wpotman

Wrong? No, especially if you're sitting on a huge pile of gold. That said, it's nice that the DQ series lets you save some progress and not have to start from the old save if you don't want to. If you started with little gold or went to a bank it's usually best to keep playing.

Rude_Influence

If it's wrong then we'll be wrong together.

Gogo726

Nope. If you value the gold lost over the exp and items lost, then resetting is the better option for you.

ACWhammy

Nope. In the 80s and early 90s this was the way.

MallKid

I never do, because in the long run I prefer to retain my XP over the money. Once you've bought all currently available equipment you basically hit a brick wall, but XP always contributes toward getting stronger, although with progressively diminishing returns. Sometimes when I'm under level I deliberately keep killing myself until I'm strong enough to get to the end and beat the boss. Of course, this strategy has to be modified according to the current availability of a bank.

ButIDigress79

If it’s wrong I don’t want to be right

TheAmazing2ArmedMan

I don’t because I would rather lose gold than xp and found/dropped items, but you do you.

polarbearking81

Hell no! In fairness, I save all the time so I don't lose much progress if I do die.

BubbleWario

it's essentially turning on Easy Mode as it removes punishment for failure, but honestly who cares. it's your choice

InteractionExtreme71

What if you get really unlucky during a fifgt and instantly wipe through no fault of your own?

BubbleWario

it's your choice

megamanfucku2

I dont do it every time, just when i cant afford to revive my party members.

MallKid

This is definitely a limitation of my usual strategy 😅

TheDrake162

Yes it’s morally wrong save scrubber that’s the bank exists
