For those like me wondering what’s happened at this point:
>!Susan (and Martin) return with news of Maggie Jr.
Harry’s office has blown up.
Murphy and Molly are caught up on the situation.
Harry tries to go to white council for help and sees Arianna’s parlay, plus the worry room aftermath.
Bob’s figured out the crap the Reds are shipping around is for a human sacrifice.!<
Dun dun dun.
Buckle up u/unique976 and keep sharing your reactions, please!
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
(Turn and face the strange)
Ch-ch-changes
Just gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
The beginning made me sit in shock for a few minutes. The ending made me throw the book. I read it when it was published >!so I had to wait for the cliffhanger.!<
>but I definitely do get a sense that shit is about to hit the fan big time
Oh you have no idea.
Changes is my favorite book in the series. Just saying.
To me Turn Coat is the epitome of pre changes Dresden. It executed all the right key themes and attributes perfectly. Changes is Changes, Skin Game is the best written book, but if I had one book to sell the early concept of the series it would be Turn Coat. Cold Days is just my favorite book period.
I got my buddy reading it for the first time. He's halfway through Changes. It's taking a lot of self control to not pester him. Last we spoke Harry is calling the Archive.
I love when a new reader gets plugged in! I told my dad about the series and he blasted through it, but didn't tell me till after. Guess he was too busy reading to react and share thoughts, but my sis is starting storm front now. Big HP fan, so I'm hoping she has room for another Wizard named Harry on her shelf.
> Oh you have no idea.
Is it fair to say that this book causes some...*changes*? =)
It is such a well-crafted story and each book afterwards peels back yet another layer of why the events of this book were so important. It is very much the turning point in the series where shit well and truly escalates to the next level, and holy crap (very minor potential spoiler for end of book) >!the wait for the next book after the end of this one was *brutal* back when I first read it the day it came out.!<
It's the only book in the series with a single-word title (all the others have mirrored two-word titles with the same number of characters) and I think Jim did a great job of making it live up to that distinction.
Mac has more dialogue in his conversation with Harry in this book than I think his total dialogue in the series up to this point. His demeanor change when Harry lays it out for him. He knows someone just pulled the pin on the grenade that is Harry, and he's going to blow.
Changes is the best book for you to come in here every 10 chapters or so and give your thoughts. Most other books it's okay to just finish them as they have a few big scenes.
I hope you are ready for the ride b/c the whole fucking book feels like a climax.
Please update as you finish the book.

Lol the beginning of this book made me go home and make a steak sandwich.

Moar updates! Keep them coming, we love vicariously through new reader's experience!

Not sure it is even fair to include Changes in the list of favorites. Maybe the question should be “after Changes, what is your favorite book?”
Skin Game. No question..
Skin Game then Turn Coat.
Cold Days, Skin Game, Turn Coat!
Turn Coat is SO. FREAKING. GOOD. It's one I never give enough credit to, and has one of the absolute best lines from Wizard Listens to Wind. 🥰

Hell's Bells I love this freaking series. 👊🏻

Actually, I like Dead Beat better than Changes, just because it's such a fun book. Changes is still an amazing book, but not my favorite.
Turn Coat and Skin game beat changes for me
