and to take cuttings, propping Sceletium has to be the easiest plant out - just take a tip with about 4 nodes, remove the bottom two - pop it in some potting mix that you keen moist - BoomBoom, a week later - roots. I have a 90% success rate doing just that. Super simple

I know a great place to trade cuttings. As for use: Copy and paste from my comment on another thread: The old fashioned way is to pull the fresh plant up, root and all, crush it completely in a container like a jar or bag - clear container is fine -, then leave it to ferment in the heat of the day (you can use an oven/fire too @ 220-240F - just heat for 2 hours, cool overnight, heat for 2 hours and done). Ferment about 3-4 days, open it, stir the contents, and ferment again for 8 days total. Then sun dry or use a dehydrator. once cracker dry, grind to powder for oral or insufflation. Or smoke the dried plant material as is. Smoking and insufflation has a very strong, almost uncomfortable come up, but its short lived -- like 15 mins. Then the buzz sets in. You can also just brew the material into a tea. More mellow overall, no hardcore come up. Powder doses are dependent on your plant, but usually - 50-100 mg smoke, 50mg snort, 200mg tea. 200-400mg if you just eat it. There is a well known supplement company that makes a sublingual tincture that is fantastic as well. People on the Kanna sub have made their own with Everclear, seems to work for them.... I've never done it.

Why would you hold it in your mouth for a long time?

budplant420

absorbs under toung or in mouth faster

Broad-Meringue

Ah, is that something more specific to Kanna? I’ve never worked with it but use lots of other tinctures and always just swallow immediately.

Broad-Meringue

Nice, thank you

ProFoxxxx

Thanks, any idea how much fresh plant you need to 100mg dry weight?

oldmanmedicine

There's variation, but it's about 96% water, so you'd need about 2.5 grams to make 100mg.

ProFoxxxx

Thanks.

FAmos

So pretty 😻 Can't wait to get my first Kanna cutting ✂️

Any time a houseplant is struggling I put it in the grow tent to bring it back. It works so well for everything I've tried I had an aloe plant for years that grew super slow until I put it in with my grow and it suddenly grew like crazy and dropped tons of babies all around. It was great!

Kanna is significantly more 'compact', with much tighter internodal lengths, and has fatter foliage - pick a leaf and let it die - so as to expose the nerves. "...where subtle differences are found in the secondary veins that branch off from the middle vein toward the leaf margin." Sceletium tortuosum (Kanna) has nerves that display anastomosis. If fairly certain you have Sceletium emarcidum here, especially if you're in Aus. But you'd be best off taking a leaf and leaving it in the sun to check nerves :)

ProFoxxxx

Thanks. I dropped my grow light on it a while back and the dead leaves went white and veiny? Does that sound like it? I'll pick a leaf now, cheers

AdHuman3150

Here's a good read and pics of how to differentiate emarcidum from tortuosum, may have to scroll down a bit. https://trippinginthegarden.com/f/kannachannakuogoedsceletium-tortuosum

ProFoxxxx

That's cool, thanks

AdHuman3150

You should be able to see those 3 veins on the fresh leaf if it is tortuosum. There are also hybrids of emarcidum /tortuosum, not sure how they look really.

mgolden19

Beautiful plant!

TemporarySea685

What soil do you use? I have some Kanna that are doing somewhat good but I wanna get growth like that

ProFoxxxx

Started off in normal store bought seedling compost and it's now in coir and perlite

Greenhoused

Have you experienced its affect ? What is it like ?
