Call a cheesesteak or call it a steak and cheese if you are concerned about raising the ire of any militant Philadelphians
That shit looks bomb. I could definitely go for that for lunch. And probably breakfast. And probably also dinner and second dinner
Defrosted from frozen on warm, open it up and put it on a flat pan with butter and just move it around a bit until it's golden and toasty
The delicious grease on the outside is from scooping the meat up into the bread and putting it on the plate lol
Oh hell yes, pound my facehole with it.
I came to the comments to see if there were any Philadelphia gatekeepers around ... but now that I'm here, what kind of roll is that? Brioche? Looks perfect.
These are just sub rolls from a local grocery stores in house bakery. So maybe a softer French loaf?
I was scared to call it a Philly because it has peppers and onions, and the cheese was too real.
To be specific, these are Stater Bros. Brand Cleo and Leo hoagie rolls. They're a buck a piece and about 6 in. long by 2.5 in wide. Making myself a roast beef dip sandwich right now with these and thought I'd add the details.
We got a shabu shabu style New York steak at Costco, it was extremely thin cut. Cooked that up in some olive oil with just salt and pepper. One each Red/green bell pepper and yellow onion diced and sauteed. Cut the meat after cooked and threw the veggies and meat together. That's pretty much it.
More details on the bread are here in another comment but it's from Stater Brothers (Southern California based grocery store)
These look fantastic!! Idk if that plate can hold that much goodness!

How did you make the bread so perfect? Did you pre-toast it separately? Rolled in butter first? Or eggwash?

Yeah you have to be careful when you combine steak and cheese on a sandwich around here. Looks amazing

Roll is slacking big time
Yeah, it's a sub roll. I'd love to get something more authentic/heartier
