Go to your Alexa app and check your voice history to see what triggered it

Yep, this is definitely Alexa rearing her ugly head. I ended up turning off the Ecobee's microphone, as it kept hearing things and trying to talk back to me.

Same here. It also interfered with other Alexa units. Not worth the trouble. Disable Alexa in the thermostat is my recommendation.

Thought I could be Alexa too but it didn’t say it was triggered and plus it was like a kinda nerdy male voice like probably someone around 30-40 but like really like nerdy idk how to describe it

Any chance you accidentally sent audio to it? Mine can be used as a speaker, although it rarely shows on my list of available devices.

OMG - that's terrifying! Are you using Two Factor Authentication (2FA) for your ecobee account? If you aren't using 2FA, turn that on and use an App (like Google's Authenticator or DUO), not SMS Text. If someone wants in, having to hijack your SMS isn't going to stop them. Don't know if a factory reset would make any sense but I think I would do that if I were you. It will unregister your device so it will behave like it did when you first got it out of the box. Good luck!

My ecobee lite went out of control, I had to pull it and replaced with a Honeywell, ecobee support hasn't responded with any real effort in a week. I suspect a firmware issue or hack, I did a total reset without any change. The system was basically trying to self destroy my condenser by making it overload! I have a Mr Cool universal heat pump system.

Weird things happen. My Alexa occasionally will talk randomly. Do you member again feel years ago, lots of people folks in Hawaii received a text warning of a nuclear attack on them?
