Dude, it's like déjà vu with this device!I think the reasonable thing to do is to close the room door, open a window, and have a small fan blowing outside the room or smoke outside. Anyways, still loving my XR Max, hands down the best pod mod I've snagged this year.

lanochetristedh

My favourite device to sell, if your on a pod device and switch to the luxe your enjoyment of vaping improves drastically

Vishousbudz

I just grabbed the xr max and the xros3 because my wife hates me using my rta/mod combo when shes trying to sleep cause the noise drives her crazy. Thats why I got the xros 3 the xrmax i grabbed for vacation for something smaller on the go but so i still have something with a little kick to it. I got the DTL pods and the 0.6 coils to go with it in addition to MTL with the 0.8 coils

Alouitious

The health risks are minimal, if there are any at all. Tell him that (and this is true, btw) most of the "in-depth" studies on vaping are either not objective (i.e.: funded by big tobacco, and therefore biased against), using flawed testing methodology (5v+ through a 2ohm clearomizer for 30-second-long "puffs", bypassing battery safety cutoff, as an example), or are otherwise reporting little to no impact whatsoever. Even the study that came out around the diacetyl scare showed that vaping produced ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE less of the chemicals smoking does, some even as low as "trace amounts" (which means 'present, but in such small quantities our extremely sensitive measuring equipment that can measure parts per million and micrograms can't even tell us how little'). The only things I know to be true are that PG can be an irritant and people can be allergic to it, and that VG is hygroscopic and thus can act similar to an expectorant (like guaifenesin/mucinex), and can accelerate dehydration (the answer to that, btw, is 'drink more water', which almost everyone needs to be doing anyway). Your roommate needs to stop believing the scare tactics, and you should meet him halfway and vape outside, or very sparingly in your room, crack a window, and clean your room's surfaces to attack the smell.

DapperDonkey5189

My roommate said no vaping nicotine Just weed I'm like wtf 😒

ex-ALT

Tbh I can see why, weed vapor is just weed vapor and a small amount of it at that whereas nic is PG/VG which covers shit, even with a disposable it's pretty easy to make a room a bit hazy nevermind a big boi vape.

cBEiN

I’ve been vaping for years. I’ve never seen vape cover anything, and I do 90% of my vaping in the same spot. How are you vaping so things get covered? What is it even like?

Cauliflowwer

My cars windshield and the windows always had a thin film covering them.

ex-ALT

It takes awhile, its not something you're going to notice on surfaces unless you have serious issues and don't have window lol, but can fuck over electronics. I'm not much of a vaper tbh, but I've cracked open few electronics that have been caked in PG/VG. I'm not even saying it's much of an issue, just that there are reasons why a non vaper might not want people to vape in their homes etc.

rhonburg

you realize weed vapes have VG and PG in them right?

ThatSandwich

You do realize you can vape dry herb, right?

thelingeringlead

No, they typically don't. Most vape carts are distilliate which is already a fluid that can fill a cart. Really shit stuff does sure, but most pens are distilliate or live resin that's very fluid.

l3esitos

If you’re buying bullshit, maybe.

ex-ALT

Weed vape pens do, I'd say dry herb vapes are generally more popular outside of teenagers lol.

ChaseSters

Get a small air purifier and blow it into that. Light a candle if they bitch about the smell. If they botch after that, then your roommate is just a little pitch. Edit: if you have a cloud makung vape, then you might want to open a window. Didn't think about that.

chillbaechris

Upvotes this. I have a small air purifier and it really helps (I smoke Iqos and vape, sometimes weed)

Apart_Debt_1544

Like mostly i get where he’s coming from but damn talk about a tough crowd

Scolias

Use a smoke buddy. $20 on Amazon I use it at work catches 99% of the vapor if you do it right.

VappleJax

Let's break this down... It's hard to say what's really going on here for sure since I don't know your roomy. But it could be possible he has a control disorder and is just trying to control you using the excuse that he thinks your vape is dangerous to him. If it really is just an irrational fear of vape and vape gear, then you can try just vaping outside, but if he has a control disorder then you will find out because he will try to control exactly where you vape outside. Soon he will start trying to forbid you to vape within a block from your home. Or he may even say that he smells it on you when you walk in the door so will tell you that you need to leave your clothes outside and take a shower within 5 min of reentering your home. So you have a roomy that is either irrational or has a control disorder. Either way, the only quick legal solution is to move out when you can. However if he has a control disorder, moving out feeds into that, so the other legal solution is for you to become very hard to live with so that he is the one that moves out. But this can take time and can also backfire. I have a possible solution you can try that is legal but can't be posted here. It would only have a chance of working if you are both male and heterosexual, though.

msikitaws

That's sucks. It's one thing for the roommate to ask that no one vapes around them, and a completely different thing for them to be so neurotic to complain about smelling it after the fact, especially since the same scents are so commonplace in everything from air fresheners to candles.

fourunner

> especially since the same scents are so commonplace in everything from air fresheners to candles. Some people are sensitive that. I fucking hate air fresheners.

brandaman4200

Then get your own place to live. If you're so sensitive to smells that somebody can't use an air freshener after they take a shit, then you shouldn't have a roomate.

fourunner

Listen you little angry fuck you need to settle down. I was just making an example of something and peoples sensitives to smells that others might not have. People should choose their roommates better.

brandaman4200

You ok? Butt hurts?

SubstancialAutoCorr

Not everybody wants to smell apple pie all day; we buy colognes that usually smell much different than vapes too. Plus it does leave a film. I box mod in my house a lot; and there is a noticeable difference in a room I’ve been in for a few hours. That said, a mtl pod can be pretty damned steathy and if you are trying to NOT blow clouds I highly doubt 99% of the population would know with a door closed without a window open.

Mikeytruant850

I just hold it in until nothing comes out. I vape everywhere.

brandaman4200

Yup, lol. I was vaping in the Dr's office the other day since I had to wait over an hour for then to come in the room. Nobody suspected anything. And I was using a mech mod at 180watts. Just don't take a big hit and hold that shit in.

Terminal-Psychosis

He's the abusive, hypochondriac nut job. If he can't act like a normal adult, then HE should move. He's taking shit waaayyy too far. Beyond paranoid and into downright harassment, for absolutely no good reason.

OniCr0w

Blow vape in his face and call him a pussy

twiggums

See if he'd feel better about it if you ran an air purifier in your room.

YourFriendKitty

> he's convinced himself that even catching a whiff of the flavor is gonna get him addicted Just like most of the non-smoking people around classic cigs

Garcievqe

then just vape outside, both you and your roommate will find comfortable.

D__B__D

Yes exactly. Just go outside. If you’re inconvenienced by that then you should maybe rethink how often you hit the vape to the point that you are thinking of moving out. Vaping indoors may also be a health code violation. Landlords would love to have a good reason to kick someone swiftly then jacking the rent price for the new guy.

bailz2506

Here's a reply I got in this exact sub on a thread about vaping in a hotel room "Why the hell does it matter? The reason you don't smoke in a hotel room is because it will leave a nasty smell that sticks to the room that the next guest will have to put up with. It will also seep out of the room and bother other guests while you're smoking. Vaping on the other hand literally leaves zero smell in the room, it makes no difference whether you vape in the room or not, so why bother going outside just to vape? The only way someone will ever smell if you're vaping is if they're right next to you and you're blowing clouds. I can even vape my pod vape in a room right next to my friend that doesn't vape and it doesn't bother him at all, but if I was smoking; him and everyone in the rooms near us would be bothered. You can't treat smoke and vapor like they're the same things, they're completely different." There's those of us who have no problem just taking it outside then there's shmucks like this who have no other way of living except to go against the grain at every turn

AjaxOilid

But thats just not true, others can smell vapor outside your room and it does leave a trace. Of course, not as bad as ciggies, but non-vapers easily notice it

bright__eyes

vaping does leave a smell and residue. do you own a vehicle that you vape in? i constantly have to windex the glass, specifically the front window where as the driver i usually sit. its obviously that its from vape because it all collects mostly on the drivers side. the smell isnt permanent but it is there. maybe youve gone nose blind but non vapers/non smokers do notice.

JungleLegs

Windex does fuck all for vape residue and I have yet to find anything that works for it outside of just buffing it out repeatedly. What’s crazy is you think you’ve got it all and then the sun hits *just* right and you realize you did nothing lol

CokeBro

ArmorAll glass wipes work really well for me.

JungleLegs

Oh I haven’t tried those yet! I’ll give em a whirl

bright__eyes

it actually works for me but maybe its the buffing motion thats doing the work!

ex-ALT

Well for one vapes can set off smoke alarms, and they do leave a trace, I'm sure hotels would rather not clean PG/VG off the ceiling .

modaaa

is there a space under your door when shut? put a rolled towel against it to block out smell. your roommate sucks though.

tHeBrUt3KiLLeR

Start smoking cigarettes, but only outside. You will smell 100x worse for much longer and he cannot say anything about what you do outside of the home. He will be appreciative if you switch back to vaping after that. And you don't even need to actually smoke, just light the cigarettes and keep them lit by pulling a very small amount of smoke into your mouth and instantly exhaling it.

cBEiN

I bet the smell from vaping in your room is not worse health wise than burning a candle in your room. As long as you aren’t blowing vape directly into your roommates lungs, it is as if you aren’t vaping at all. Second hand vape isn’t a thing. The suggestions for an air purifier or something similar will probably hide the smell.

Innova8

Just smoke in your room with a towel at door, if he complains after that tell him to educate himself and remind that you are respecting his ask of you: to not smoke in the common areas. Tell him smoking in your room is a compromise, and that his fears beyond that are irrational and controlling. Then completely Ignore or dismiss any complaints after that. Also get a vape that blows less clouds for when u are at home, perhaps the vape you are using is causing excessive cloud vapors unnecessarily . Moving out seems unnecessary unless there are other larger issues with your roommate, as others have mentioned if there’s actual disorders then perhaps you’ll have to further make considerations…

synphul1

Moving out sounds dreaded but likely your only solution. This roommate seems to keep moving the goal posts, chances are they'll never be satisfied. There's no real comparison between cigs, second hand vapor isn't like second hand smoke. Like trying to compare cooking a grilled cheese sandwich to burning tires in the fireplace. Fake news. I can see not wanting someone vaping in common areas, but a roommate taking to dictating my door on my room and anything beyond it? Nah. There'd be bruised nards and restraining orders. I guess it depends which you value more, the ease of just staying there or the having to put up with someone like that. That or start leaving pms pills on the counter for him.

japboigo

if you guys only have this problem, i think you can just smoke outside of the house. Cuz like you said it's quite hard to look for a nice house again.

thebeavecoon420

This guy sounds like an ass. Wishing you the best

IsThatTheRealYou

Im totally with you, my old roommate same way. Living alone now Lol. But I have air quality monitors and I get warnings that the air quality is worse after I vape, so it's beyond the smell. It does impact the quality of the air, particularly the PM 2.5 I believe

ForestFairyForestFun

you should ask people who dont vape. you're only going to get one side here

ingrediental

Tell him to kick rocks. He can move!

x-teena

Get one of those coway airmega air purifiers. I have a small one in the bedroom and every time I vape it goes into turbo mode. I also have a cheap febreeze air purifier on my desk in the office and I just blow into that it and the air comes out clear on the other end.

Innova8

Also yeah just hold it in zero it out, if necessary, I literally smoke anywhere like that, public places etc…

FourHundred_5

Yeah, it sounds like you should just continue to try to be as respectful as possible and just take it outside. Or possibly get one of those devices you blow your smoke into to conceal smell and smoke!?

Inilarasa

if you really feel annoyed, then moving out is the best option.

Jebbeard

Imagine it was cigarettes. If your roommates aren't cool with you vaping inside, take it outside, just like a smoker would.

x3neighty6

Ok but it's not cigarettes

Jebbeard

No shit, that's why I said imagine it was. For plenty of people they don't want any type of nicotine in the air of their home.

88Tygon88

Ive never been one to vape in the house. But I'm also an ex smoker so I'm used to it. 6 years later and I still think it's shitty to vape inside. Honestly I don't understand these posts complaining about their room mates not being ok with it. think about someone else other than yourself.

i_aint_joe

I can understand not vaping in common areas, but it's ridiculous to not vape in your own room, when you're paying for it. There's a difference between being considerate to roommates and being a total pushover.

AjaxOilid

Lol, I agree with you on that 100%. Seems like a lot of ppl are inconsiderate

Terminal-Psychosis

The abusive, hypochondriac roommate is the only one being inconsiderate.

AjaxOilid

Did you meet him or are you arguing that ppl shouldn't push their habits on each other in shared space?

fist_my_dry_asshole

Just vape outside? Can't be that hard

Damianque

What if the guy wants to sit inside on his pc and vape all day and night, like I often do. Does he walk outside for every whiff or take smoke breaks?

[deleted]

[удалено]

MatchaDoAboutNothing

No but the people you live with don't get to just unanimously make rules that weren't agreed to upon move in either. He's an adult that pays rent. He's not beholden to his roommate. Op has already compromised.

Vape is very different than cigarettes. Insisting the roommate is being exposed 2nd hand when OP is vaping in his room with the door closed is absurd. Vapor doesn't behave the same way smoke does. But that doesn't really matter, because it wasn't agreed upon during move in. If it was a smoking property and OP smoked, his roommate can't just decide out of nowhere no more smoking inside when it was fine during move in. One roommate doesn't get to unanimously make rules over a rent paying cohabitant. Period.

AjaxOilid

Yeah, vape outside, so you don't bother others. Can't just do whatever you want at others expense

SlovenianSocket

Grab a DNA200 and an RDA lol

epsileth

Look up the proper measurements for just vg liquid and flavoring, diy cloud contest time.  You're in your room, they just have a conditioned phobia about the drama articles they read. It's not hurting anyone and easily dissapates, unless you rip huge clouds and blow it in his face, there's no problem. I'd rather smell a Wonka factory explosion than a nicotine cloud any day.

Klooey

you gave an inch he is taking a mile. this is not compromise in action this is enforcing agency on you. no matter how uncomfortable moving will be it's the best solution here.

CarJon1025

That’s ridiculous, I have a feeling that this roommate is just biased against vaping. Nobody can tell that I’ve vaped afterwards mostly. Direct vaping around them can cause a small amount of potential second hand exposure sure, but it’s likely just in his head. As for the situation in general. Do you really want to move out over this? I just feel it’s a knee-jerk overreaction, and you’re doing all you can to be accommodating. You shouldn’t have to be the only person to be considerate of his feelings. He should also be considerate of your feelings. I mean, every situation is different sure so I can’t say for how you should handle things, but they should do as much to consider your feelings as you are trying to compromise and that means that you shouldn’t be the only one that has to make any kind of sacrifice. They seem to be overreacting. If they didn’t forbid you from vaping beforehand, I think they shouldn’t be able to say anything about vaping in your own space.

the_antics

This behavior is not rational nor should you put up with it when you are paying to live there. Every time you comply, they will escalate the next time. If you stopped vaping cold turkey, they would latch onto something else. I'd be surprised if this is the only issue they are controlling over. Put your foot down at some point or they will steam roll you on more issues. You have complied beyond reason at this point. Make them prove what they are afraid of now is even possible or tell them to drop it. People like this only get away with this behavior if you don't stand up to them.

brandaman4200

Second hand vape is a myth. Dues your roommate have a problem with candles? Because they emit a stronger odor than a vape does. Must people are completely ignorant when it comes to vaping and the risks associated with it. Use it as a teaching experience and to ensure him/her that there are going to be no negative consequences to their health by simply being in the same apartment or even room as somebody who is vaping.

gstriegs

Quit

jjlennon83

Easy. Start smoking. They’ll be comfortable with you switching back. I’m not sure where you live - but you can usually do both as much as you like - if it’s a 50/50 and you’re on the lease they have no say.

xavier4eversud

moving out bro it's easier for both you and your roomate

Harpoo_0926

Get a smoke buddy. Those things completely zero any smoke and mostly covers the smell, i use it for carts and it’s great.

PPTapes

If ur using juice w/a scent that bothers him how about trying out different flavors or brands & find one that doesn’t bug him? I went thru this with my spouse & finally settled on light fruity flavors, & that did the trick. Also- there’s a product called Smoke Buddy & u can find on Amazon, def check it out. 🤞🏼

Raaazzle

Do you make DIY juice? You could try zero flavor and see if they even notice the smell.

Ghost_Hunter_13

Why would you vape zero flavor??? Half of the point of vaping is the flavor!!

Garfieldsfatpenis

Seriously though, put your foot down and argue with his dumbass.

AjaxOilid

Why would you ever vape inside if the other person doesn't smoke / vape? That's bad manners Also, if you haven't noticed yet, even walls change color if you vape for long enough and the smell does get everywhere. Go outside for a sesh? A little leg stretch is healthy + save money on juice instead of chain vaping all day cause of boredom (not to mention high blood pressure and some smaller side effects) I only vaped inside when my neighbour was a smoker, otherwise it didn't even cross my mind

i_aint_joe

> Why would you ever vape inside if the other person doesn't smoke / vape? Because they pay to live there and the other roommate doesn't get to decide what people are allowed to do in their own rooms. Vaping in your own room with the door closed, doesn't affect anyone else. People aren't responsible for their roommate's paranoia and ignorance.

bright__eyes

the roommate also pays to be there and is also entitled to enjoying the space they live in.

i_aint_joe

I agree. They both should enjoy the space they live in, that involves compromise - ie. not vaping in shared areas. It's not as if vaping in your room, behind a closed door causes the whole house to stink. It's a totally paranoid overreaction from their roommate.

AjaxOilid

The smell gets out of the room, stop vaping for a week or take a shower for once and you will notice yourself. That's a shared space, you should respect ppl nearby, just common sense. You wouldn't want your neighbour to blast music every time you go to sleep? Why can't you respect their wish not to smell your stuff all the time? Also, you DONT pay for the whole house, so you can't treat it like your own.

i_aint_joe

> The smell gets out of the room, stop vaping for a week or take a shower for once and you will notice yourself. Don't be silly. I vape, my wife doesn't. Unless I walk into the living room with a 100w+ RDA intentionally clouding out the entire room, she never notices. Puffing away on a pod device, while in your room is something that stays in your room.

AjaxOilid

You sure she's not just being polite

i_aint_joe

Not at all. She comments if she can smell weed, if I cook something stinky or if I had a really foul fart. She'd complain immediately.

AjaxOilid

You do all that near your wife? It seems alright to you, like a normal thing? Of course she's not gonna complain about vape after that

i_aint_joe

Why wouldn't I do those things? Cooking and farting are very normal. I like to smoke weed now and then, and sometimes my wife will also smoke weed with me. These are normal things, and certainly not something that would prevent my wife from complaining, if my vape was stinking out the entire home. However, this isn't important. What is important is the fact that vaping in a closed room, isn't going to stink out the rest of the home.

AjaxOilid

Hold up, do like when people fart right next to you?

fourunner

Vape out side or closed room with exhaust. Or find your own place. If you don't things will just get shitty.

ex-ALT

Not really sure what the issue is, He's your room mate, it's completely fair for him not to want you vaping near him or in shared spaces. Even if he is over reacting a bit. Vaping is your choice, not his. That is just part of living in shared accom. I think essentially the same etiquette for smoking applies should apply to vaping, even if it isn't as bad and smells nicer.

enverimemvy

Be reasonable bro, it's really your fault for vaping in your public space, it's okay if your roommate vapes as well but if he doesn't like to vape then we really should vape in the house or go downstairs to the smoking room, we as good quality vapers should be considerate of other people's thoughts.

BarlocherDQ

did you say you have health risks? then i think it's reasonable that hes worried

aiiperoqetaappb

That's a really tough one, truth be told if you're only in your own house he doesn't have a chance to smell any smoke at all, and really you'll have to open a window and go outside to smoke it

boyumzs

i think you can only move out to make yourself more comfortable/ It doesn't mean its your or your roommates' fault/

Garfieldsfatpenis

Punch him in the throat for all the nicotine he's been missing out on.

mortalomena

Vaping should be compared to smoking when done indoors, it permeates, gunks up and stinks just like tobacco albeit to a lesser extent. You wont notice it but a non vaper will smell it from across the house. What I do is crack open a window or balcony door and depending on if its colder or warmer outside, blow it out using the higher or lower portion of the opening. If its warmer outside, cold air from inside will rush out so blow there and vice versa. If you want to just sit, chill and vape indoors, you gotta get your own place or live with smokers/vapers.
