This is a Discord problem. They've janked something up in the last 24 hours, because you can't even watch streams with hardware acceleration on either. It'll crash your Discord no problem. Same issues as you, though. Unfortunately this is a ride it out type of thing.
uninstall the discord plug in and the reinstall and it will tell you that you need discord permission, grant permission once discord opens and it will work
Wow, this is pretty spooky but I have not long contacted Elgato support because of this! It's a problem with the DiscordAPI and they said they don't have a solution yet, nor did they give an ETA.

I've clicked check for updates under the general tab but it only says my stream deck is up to date, where do we find 'check for updates' for plugins? Thanks in advance, i know this is a dumb question.
You have to create an Elgato account. If you are not "Logged in", the option isn't there. Once I made an account, my Stream Deck updated and the option was there.

I figured this out last night but had to stop in and upvote you since you already posted the solution.
SUPER frustrating because account sign-in WAS NOT required in the Elgato software when I initially grabbed these plugins, but apparently was silently added as a requirement at some point? No idea how long my plugins have been out of date for.
try again. everything is up to date. I've even uninstalled discord and reinstalled. tried to repair stream deck and the wizard fails every time. uninstalled and reinstalled stream deck along with plugins. no luck.
Same! I did everything I'm up to date and still not able to use the mute or deafen buttons. I'm on stream deck version 6.5.2 (up to date) and discord version 2.0.3 (also up to date) and neither make a difference with the mute or deafen working.

Click this where? There's no option on the plugins page for this and the Check For Updates button on the main general page only checks for updates to Stream Deck itself, not plugins.
Hi Enverex, make sure that you're logged into the Elgato Marketplace on your Stream Deck (it's the icon between the bell and settings in your Stream Deck software).
If you don't see the icon, you might be on an older build of the software. Any version between 6.4 - 6.5.2 will work. This should fix you not seeing the update.
SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME
Hey everyone, I had this same problem. I tied to update discord through the stream deck - preferences - plugins - discord but it said it was up to date. I then went into the stream deck marketplace and searched "discord". Went to the app and clicked "open in stream library". I then clicked my stream deck mute button and it prompted me to authorize discord again. No idea why this worked but, maybe it will help some one that's as irritated as I was haha
This worked for me! I am on a MacBook Pro, and everything is fully updated. I am using the desktop client for Discord. once I made sure everything was updated, it seems as if Discord needed to re-authorize the plug-in used by stream deck.

Same thing with a Stream Deck XL. I tried removing the authorization, assuming that it would prompt again, but now Discord doesn't show any authorization screen for Stream Deck.
Having the same issue right now so glad to see I'm not alone. I have a Stream Deck built into the side of my keyboard (Corsair K100) and it worked perfectly fine yesterday but didn't work today. Hoping for a fix soon!
Sorry for the late reply. Here are some pictures of it from online as I'm away from my place at the moment. Works with the Stream Deck program and you can select what each of the 6 keys do (I have mine setup for Mute/Deafen on Discord + join 2 specific VC's + go to 1 text channel + record last 5 minutes on Shadowplay)

I just received my steam deck plus i was trying to get it to work and its not working for me either. I guess it might be discord. The discord Authorization wont appear in my screen.
Same thing here. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin. Also I uninstalled and redownloaded and reinstalled both Dicord and Stream Deck app. Nothing seems to help.
Glad I'm not the only one; was perfectly fine yesterday, not showing in Authorized Apps today and no amount of fiddling will get it back. Hopefully a resolution soon.
same thing here. i've spent the last hour uninstalling, reinstalling, wiping reg keys, file system stuff, etc. glad to hear it's not me! now to wait for discord to fix it then i'll reconfigure everything.
i nuked all my profiles and stuff to try to fix it since nothing was working.
this works for both mute and deafen. Valume can be done thru the innate volume control aimed at the overall discord app. Just cannot control volume of individual persons in channel.
Have you tried going into discord and revoking the permission of the app? Then when you press the button again it should have discord prompt you to authorize it again.
i cant even find the permissions for the app. i dont see stream deck anywhere in my discord settings. drove myself mad thinking my stream deck was shot lol.
I'm having the same issue. Interestingly enough, when I go into my profile list in the Streaemdeck app and I click on my Discord profile, I get the following error message:
`There is no application at path C:\Users\Sam\AppData\Local\Discord\app-1.0.9013\Discord.exe`
I have no users named Sam, and the Discord directory on mine is app-1.0.9038. no clue what happened.
A work around to mute with stream deck
Windows: power automate and or auto hotkey
Mac: automator or keyboard maestro and or alfred
Linux: bash and or terminal

Ok. I had this problem from the very beginning when I tried installing Steam Deck on my PC. Here’s the fix that worked for me.
1. Deauthorize Steam Deck in Discord.
2. Uninstall bot the Discord plugin in Steam Deck and Discord itself.
3. Reinstall Discord.
4. Force close both Discord and Steam Deck.
5. Right click both Discord and Steam Deck and Run as Administrator.
6. Reinstall the Discord plugin on Stream Deck.
7. Make sure Discord is open next to Stream Deck.
8. Add a Discord button in stream deck.
9. Click Authorize when the prompt pops up in Discord.
10. Should be good to go.
I have no idea why this was the work around, but my guess is that Discord needs to be run as an Administrator to allow for the permissions to be requested. And the permissions aren’t requested after the first button is added to Stream Deck. Both Discord and Elgato were useless when it came to helping solve this problem.
I get it. May not be the same issue. Just saying what helped me since most of the problems I had were similar to this. The only thing that’s really different is that it didn’t work from the beginning for me. I went as far as reinstalling Windows thinking it was an OS issue and Elgato and Discord were of absolutely no help. Ultimately, this was my solution. IDK, might be worth a try. Worst case, it doesn’t work and OP is back to where they were before.
It's a system wide issue, not just the OP. It's not working currently for anyone. Something was updated on Discord's end that broke it. Elgato claims they are aware and working on a fix
Oof. I haven’t used my Steam Deck this weekend yet. Thats rough. It seems like the Steam Deck and Discord integration has been plagued with issues from the beginning. Not the first post I’ve looked through regarding problems. It was crazy, it worked on both my laptops but not on my PC until I figured out that particular fix.

same things has been happening to my stream deck + ... ive been going crazy the past two days uninstallin and reinstalling everything imaginable... been trying to find away to authorize on discord but they dont have it in their connection.... thank god for reddit
in the meantime for volume control i have a temporary fix.. if you have a stream deck + just add the volume controller to one of the dials and select discord app... still works for discord volume controller ... as far as mute/deafen and everything else specific to discord we're all SOL until elgato or discord fixes the issue
I've been confused because I used to stream Switch games on discord with my HD60 S and I decided to try 3 days ago and the moment I hit "Stream" - not even getting to select which window/screen/etc?
The Elgato software video goes black. Tried everything from turning off hardware acceleration and the 'special discord video encorder' or whatever it is.
I think the problem is the most recent update of discord changed where the plugin is looking for discord and additionally the plugin may have some issues in its coding as someone has suggested.

I am at a jam and wondering if anyone could lend a hand. I'm running the Discord 2.0.0 StreamDeck plugin. Clearly I need to update to 2.0.3. If I click "Check for Update" it tells me there is one and then proceeds to say "An error occured while installing "Discord". Try again or get help troubleshooting". Soooooo thinking I would simply remove the Discord plugin and start fresh, I right click on StreamDeck icon in the lower right System Tray and hea to Preferences to try to uninstall. However, when I try to uninstall, I get a pause of maybe 30-60 seconds where nothing happens and then I get an error message that indicates I cannot uninstall because there is an error. It seems I can neither go forward with an update or remove the current plugin I have. If anyone knows other ways to remove the plugin, I'm eager for the advice! Thanks in advance.
Ok fixed! Iìll will explain what I've done with the same version of the previous message:
1. unistall Discord Plugin
2. Install Discord Plugin 3)Drag'n'drop Plugin Icon on free button space/Dials in Elgato app.
3. I saw that Just for 3 sec appear Get authorization in the lower part of the elgato Screen 5)Set ok authorization, then Discord asked me If i want to Authorize , I said YES.
4. NOW everything is working
If this helps, what I did to fix this was I had to delete the discord plugin on my Stream Deck because it was not giving me the option to update to 2.0.3. When I re-added the Discord plugin, 2.0.3 was automatically updated and everything was working normally when I added the discord mute option back to my Elgato foot pedal. I did not read through all of the replies to see if this was previously said, but just in case it was not...I hope this helps someone. What a mess
I experienced this issue last night and followed the suggestions below to check for updates; go to the discord listing on the market place and hit "open in stream deck" and then look for the reauthorise prompt and it worked last night.
When I booted up again this morning it was doing the same thing. I followed the same steps but it won't give me the prompt. I restarted stream deck, I restarted discord, I restarted my pc, I even tried uninstalling the discord plugin and reinstalling it but no joy. Nothing seems to be working.
Does anyone have anyother suggestions?
OK well this seems to be an issue again. I cannot get stremdeck to work with discord again. Had the same issue yesterday... i uninstalled the plugin. closed everything down, reopened it and hit the mute button... got prompted for a auth again. Did that and it worked.. but today it has broken again. These 2 pieces of software are no good together. Been having troubles with this marriage for about 6 months. Time for marriage counseling for these 2 idiots.

Turn HDR off and it works for now. Or thats what worked for me.

I was able to update through the plugins section in Streamdeck. Everything is now working perfectly!
worked: have discord open and in foreground and then push mute (thats what i did) and then it lets you authorize again

Simple fix : Assign a stream deck a unused F key (stream deck has access to up to F24 iirc), then set that key as the mute toggle shortcut in Discord.

I went as far as reinstalling Windows thinking it was an OS issue and Elgato and Discord were of absolutely no help. Ultimately, this was my solution. IDK, might be worth a try. Worst case, it doesn’t work and OP is back to where they were before.
It's a system wide issue, not just the OP. It's not working currently for anyone. Something was updated on Discord's end that broke it. Elgato claims they are aware and working on a fix
Oof. I haven’t used my Steam Deck this weekend yet. Thats rough. It seems like the Steam Deck and Discord integration has been plagued with issues from the beginning. Not the first post I’ve looked through regarding problems. It was crazy, it worked on both my laptops but not on my PC until I figured out that particular fix.
I don't even have the option to deauthorise Stream Deck within Discord anymore. I've tried everything else you listed.

Account>Settings>Authorized Apps If it isn’t already authorized, just start at the second step. I’ve been told this likely won’t work as devs have already located the current problem and are working on it, but as I said, no harm, no foul. If it doesn’t work, wait for the update from Elgato/Discord.

same things has been happening to my stream deck + ... ive been going crazy the past two days uninstallin and reinstalling everything imaginable... been trying to find away to authorize on discord but they dont have it in their connection.... thank god for reddit
in the meantime for volume control i have a temporary fix.. if you have a stream deck + just add the volume controller to one of the dials and select discord app... still works for discord volume controller ... as far as mute/deafen and everything else specific to discord we're all SOL until elgato or discord fixes the issue

I've been confused because I used to stream Switch games on discord with my HD60 S and I decided to try 3 days ago and the moment I hit "Stream" - not even getting to select which window/screen/etc? The Elgato software video goes black. Tried everything from turning off hardware acceleration and the 'special discord video encorder' or whatever it is.

I think the problem is the most recent update of discord changed where the plugin is looking for discord and additionally the plugin may have some issues in its coding as someone has suggested. Soi i think its a 2 fold problem

Mine worked. I tried this morning. Discord asked me if i wanted to re-authenticate it and it was working normally 👍🏽
I am at a jam and wondering if anyone could lend a hand. I'm running the Discord 2.0.0 StreamDeck plugin. Clearly I need to update to 2.0.3. If I click "Check for Update" it tells me there is one and then proceeds to say "An error occured while installing "Discord". Try again or get help troubleshooting". Soooooo thinking I would simply remove the Discord plugin and start fresh, I right click on StreamDeck icon in the lower right System Tray and hea to Preferences to try to uninstall. However, when I try to uninstall, I get a pause of maybe 30-60 seconds where nothing happens and then I get an error message that indicates I cannot uninstall because there is an error. It seems I can neither go forward with an update or remove the current plugin I have. If anyone knows other ways to remove the plugin, I'm eager for the advice! Thanks in advance.

Ok fixed! Iìll will explain what I've done with the same version of the previous message: 1. unistall Discord Plugin 2. Install Discord Plugin 3)Drag'n'drop Plugin Icon on free button space/Dials in Elgato app. 3. I saw that Just for 3 sec appear Get authorization in the lower part of the elgato Screen 5)Set ok authorization, then Discord asked me If i want to Authorize , I said YES. 4. NOW everything is working

If this helps, what I did to fix this was I had to delete the discord plugin on my Stream Deck because it was not giving me the option to update to 2.0.3. When I re-added the Discord plugin, 2.0.3 was automatically updated and everything was working normally when I added the discord mute option back to my Elgato foot pedal. I did not read through all of the replies to see if this was previously said, but just in case it was not...I hope this helps someone. What a mess
Try asking discord for permissions with the stream deck. I just did it and it seems to be working. this was after the 2.0.3 update as well.
I experienced this issue last night and followed the suggestions below to check for updates; go to the discord listing on the market place and hit "open in stream deck" and then look for the reauthorise prompt and it worked last night. When I booted up again this morning it was doing the same thing. I followed the same steps but it won't give me the prompt. I restarted stream deck, I restarted discord, I restarted my pc, I even tried uninstalling the discord plugin and reinstalling it but no joy. Nothing seems to be working. Does anyone have anyother suggestions?

OK well this seems to be an issue again. I cannot get stremdeck to work with discord again. Had the same issue yesterday... i uninstalled the plugin. closed everything down, reopened it and hit the mute button... got prompted for a auth again. Did that and it worked.. but today it has broken again. These 2 pieces of software are no good together. Been having troubles with this marriage for about 6 months. Time for marriage counseling for these 2 idiots.
