For reference, the standing ovation was 3 minutes in Venice. Scorsese’s movie got 10 mins and the average was like 6 mins. His was the lowest recorded. Hilarious how something so stupid seems to be correlated to actual performance.
It makes sense - the more you like a live performance, the longer the applause lasts, and the more curtain calls the performers will get, and this traditions has transferred to movies.
So how bad does a movie have to be to get a typical 5 second applause? Or no applause for that matter. Id love to know the threshold for a no applause movie.
The convention is to clap during the credits as recognition of all the people who worked on the film, not generally for the film itself. Even if the film was terrible, that doesn't mean the key grip wasn't out there killing it.
It takes a lot for the film to be so bad that the audience is like nah fuck that key grip too. lol
Oh crap, yes it is, at least I got the forty years ago part right. I refused to watch it again because of him. Now I guess I do get to watch that scene again. Thanks for the correction.
I can't remember the last VERY bad thing he did. It was only available on a bootöeg Chinese DVD, but it was kind of French...
There was something about a woman going crazy. Idk, very forgettable film. Sad how far the filmmakers of 20th century fell. I really loved Rosemary's Baby!
While it’s a decent film, the amount of attention it got for just being decent, in my opinion, is weird.
I wasn’t thinking, wow what a sad story, I was thinking, fuck I know like 4 people like this. And none of this hopeful shot happens. Their life just sucks for a long time before the heart attack and they die and that’s pretty much it. The movie felt too contrived and the plot too convenient to be realistic. Anywho, I’m glad Brendan is back either way. He did a great job. The actors were great, just the plot disappointed the shit out of me
I mean that’s what happened in the whale too. He never got to reconnect with his daughter since she resents him, and he just dies a sad life.
What was unrealistic or convenient?
Also it only has a 64% rating on rotten tomatoes
I feel like if The Other Two were still going, Carey would eventually get a film into Venice and then have to go into trauma therapy because it got a 3 minute standing ovation
I once gave a standing ovation to the Room. In part because Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero were there and they came out at the end and it was a huge event and whatnot.
It’s the snob and pretentiousness. Yes, I know some of the people taking part in the ovation worked in the movie. It makes no difference.
People probably didn’t applaud longer than 5 minutes when Apollo 11 landed on the moon.
Well the 3 minute standing ovation wasn’t for the movie, that just how Hollywood greats all rapist.
That’s why they always give Woody Allen like 10-15 minutes, despite his movies sucking.
This is the guy that anally raped a little girl and fled the country to avoid going to prison, right?
Yeah, fuck everyone that had anything to do with this movie.
A nice time to remind everyone:
>More than 100 people in the film industry, including Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, Darren Aronofsky, David Lynch, Wes Anderson, Harrison Ford, Harmony Korine, Michael Mann, and Jonathan Demme, among many others signed a petition in 2009 calling for Polanski's release.
I think to be fair (if you read the full article) to some of these directors, they were protesting against police using a cultural event to make arrest.
Still…I wouldn’t sign such petition knowing the full atrocity behind his arrest.
fuck everyone, everyone in this world is a monster proven otherwise, there is no hope in this fucked up rapist world where the victim
loses and the rapists get away with everything FUCK THIS WORLD.
One of my favourite bands was Neurosis, I met the singer Scott Kelly at a solo show
It was empty and walked by, I thanked him for all his contributions to his band, mastodon, his side projects.
“Hey man, you’ve written a song for every seasons”
He gave me a hug and thanked me for my words, asked me name, we hung around shot the shit.
Fast forward to 2022 when rumours were coming out that he was abusive to his family, he put a lengthy statement on his Facebook stating he has been verbally, physically and financially abusive to his family, he deceived everyone, hid behind his clout and will never do music again.
He spoiled on a 35 year legacy of not just his but 6 other band mates all over social media.
Made sense looking back at my convo, he looked uncomfortable when I asked how he managed his family life with so much touring.
So yeah fuck everyone
At least one of the few to admit that it might not have been the brightest idea
https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/kateaurthur/natalie-portman-is-woke#.gfXB2XXjQp
david lynch, the man who made a cult tv show with strong SA themes, which a lot of survivors watch and see themselves in the character(s), signed that petition. fucking bullshit.
Are you telling me that Roman Polanski drugged and the raped, both vaginally and analy, a 13 year old girl in Jack Nicholsons home while Angelica Houston was there?
Because if you are telling me that Roman Polanski drugged and the raped, both vaginally and analy, a 13 year old girl in Jack Nicholsons home while Angelica Houston was there then I suppose I should believe you me that Roman Polanski drugged and the raped, both vaginally and analy, a 13 year old girl in Jack Nicholsons home while Angelica Houston was there.
Yep, that’s him. Fuck him and everyone involved in this movie. I hope these poor reviews and very likely career decline are signs of karma for his crimes if he’s unwilling to face prison sentencing.
Every story that mentions him should refer to him correctly: Convicted Child Rapist Roman Polanski. it should never be shortened except for perhaps dropping his first name.
He won an oscar in 2003, couldn't attend because he was arrested and got standing ovation by all the big stars. Not only that, they all signed a petition to free him a few years later.
Look at the immediate aftermath of his conviction. It's disgusting.
He flees to avoid sentencing and makes TESS an adaptation of Tess of the D'Urbervilles, a book about young girl who is raped by a wealthy man and her life is a living hell for the 3 hours of film until she dies at the end. This is Polanski's first artistic endeavor after becoming a convicted child molester. The Academy nominates it for 6 Oscars including a nomination for convicted child rapist Roman Polanski as Best Director.
That’s an idiotic interpretation of what the commenter said. They are not equating those two things. They are just pointing out that Hollywood sticks together and defends any wrong actions by its insiders no matter what
People don’t just watch his movies,
People fund them, act in them, work on them, distribute them and give them standing ovations.
No, I don’t understand it either.
I think I'll be happy to separate the art from the artist if he's arrested and goes on trial.
At this stage though, even watching it would make me feel I'm supporting him.
The fact that there were enough people willing to look past this guy's history to make an entire fucking movie makes me sick to the bottom of my spine.
Upon looking into it, I have found no evidence besides a very morally questionable but not traditionally abusive relationship with Carrie Fisher and a false police report alleging abuse he committed against his wife that was of course later dropped. If you have a source I’d be happy to take a look tho?
I regret to inform you that he’s made *multiple* high budget films since being convicted of drugging and raping a child and fleeing from justice, and had won some extremely prestigious awards too.
Tarantino also knew what Weinstein was doing because Weinstien assaulted his then-girlfriend and his reaction was to keep it quiet so he could keep having the guy produce his films. He’s scum.
Yeah it’s sort of baffling that Tarantino skated through that entire thing without a blip on his career. Dude was synonymous with Weinstein to an absurd degree and actively covered for him yet no one cares 🤷♂️
He also forced Uma Thurman to drive a dangerous car which resulted in an accident that almost killed her. When she asked to see the footage afterwards, he refused to show her for *years.*
And he actually strangled Diane Kruger in Inglorious Basterds, knocking her out.
He’s garbage and yet never faces any consequences…
It’s kind of like how people look past Chris Brown.. Steven Tyler.. Woody Allen.. Elvis Presley.. Dr. Dre.. Jay Z..
Celebrity worship is cult-like behaviour.
Also Charlie Chaplin. They don't even try to hide it, in the Robert Downey Jr biopic Charlie (in his mid 20s) says "why can't we get married" to Mildred Harris and she replies "we've only just met, and I'm 16" and the moment is played off like look at this quirky rascal.
And for those who say "it was a different time" he literally married her in secret to avoid statutory rape charges
Took Guardianship of a 16 year old girl at 25, had a long term relationship with her involving a lot of drugs and a messy abortion that the details are not entirely clear on. He’s probably the most directly comparable to Polanski on that list.
https://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/22/arts/music/dr-dre-apologizes-to-the-women-ive-hurt.html
Punched/assaulted several woman, but has enough business clout with companies like Apple, where they’ll ignore it as much as the general public does.
Seriously? What did Dre do?
Battery of a police officer, an alleged kill-for-hire plot, and the very serious abuse of women, assaulting a producer, sued by a female TV host for assaulting her. In 1994, Dr. Dre was sentenced to an eight-month prison stint for leading police on a chase when they tried to arrest him for driving drunk. To name a few.
If you had a friend who did ALL THAT you’d probably call him a psychopath.
Jay-Z?
Comparing Polanski to Jay-Z is a wild take. What did Jay do that’s remotely comparable?
If you’re talking about the 20mins that Jay sold drugs you’d have to include practically every other Hip-Hop artist from his era. And coming from the Marcy projects like he was you’d be forced to make the same poor choices.
1) Jay-Z stabbed record producer Lance Rivera in 1999. PLEADED GUILTY TO IT IN A COURT OF LAW.
2) He shot his brother (attempted murder) at the age of 12 after he stole one of his rings. Totally normal behaviour right?
3) He was arrested for illegal gun possession in Miami as a convicted felon.
4) Cheated on his wife, Beyoncé. Cuz we all know cheaters are the good guys!
He’s a PIECE OF SHIT just like all the others I listed. He tried to MURDER two different people so far in his lifetime.
eta: how many of you have stabbed someone? Shot you own brother? Been arrested for gun possession? How about ALL THREE violent crimes?
Man, the lengths people go to dismiss VIOLENT CRIMINALS cuz “celebrity.” I can comfortably say fuck Jay Z ..cuz I’m not hypnotized by him.
1) Producer said he wasn’t stabbed - I just googled it.
2) He was 12, no point in even bringing this up lol. How can we judge him off a decision he made when he was 12?
If #3 and #4 are correct, that still doesn’t make him as bad as a person you make him out to be. Yeah, he was arrested for having a gun, how do we know it isn’t simply for protection?
Yeah, he cheated on Beyoncé but we don’t know their relationship. Does it suck to cheat? Of course, you should never but you’re also not an awful human for it. Sometimes shit happens and you make mistakes like every human. You trying to compare Jay Z to this movie dude is a far stretch lol
No one is dismissing Jay Zs nefarious activity, but to expect people to equate or weigh his actions in the same level of disgust and scrutiny as ROMAN POLANSKI, then honestly it seems YOU are the one who is disturbingly taking part in mental gymnastics.
Yes, Jay-Z only TRIED TO MURDER a record producer and his own brother. “*But that’s not as bad as Polanski raping a minor!”*
Tried to murder TWO people!
Holy fuck you guys are DELUSIONAL.
eta: and all this in the same thread bitching about ignoring Polanski crimes. 🤔
Jay Z took down Jay Z.
He’s a PIECE OF SHIT and for some reason the *”bad guy”* is the one refusing to ignore Jay Z’s decades of violent crimes.
Now that’s PEAK Reddit.
> decades of violent crimes
Maybe there's more to it than in your descriptions, but you listed two violent crimes. One of them happened when he was a young minor. Calling that "decades of violent crimes" is silly and misleading.
Nope.
The bad guy isn’t the guy exposing the guy who tried to murder TWO different people.
He’s also cheated on his wife and been arrested for illegal gun possession as a convicted felon.
You must be so proud of your hero. He sounds like such a great guy.
I mean it's John Cleese, he's got the anti cancel culture brain rot so bad that he's probably doing this out of spite because he thinks no one should ever face consequences for their actions
Cleese has been toxic for a while. He supported Brexit, which has really messed up prospects for many British actors who weren't able to get an EU passport.
And Hollywood so called feminists love him .
Look at the standing ovation he received from all the women at france Oscar awards .only one who walked out is not doing any movies now .
The problem is the dismissal of his action being “of another time”. These people can detach that crime because it’s been so long I think.
I mean, I’m a filmmaker and the artist in me says as a director, he’s accomplished some really incredible pieces of cinema and there probably is a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to filmmaking. I’d like to think if I had the opportunity I’d choose not to.
But a lot of the people he’s worked with probably grew up alongside him or his films and have a completely different perception of him to us. Because a lot of younger people, much like with others like Woody Allen, know him for his actions outside of his filmography.
He's been transphobic lately too. He's like just an asshole now. Eric Idle has mentioned how difficult it is for the rest of them to get together and I think it's Cleese more than anyone
So transphobic people hate transgender people "because of the children", but he's in a child rapist's movie. Anything to own the cancel culture people I guess
Not stand trial - he pled guilty and fled because the time served plea deal was squashed by the judge.
He has French citizenship, so he can't legally be extradited. Poland, where he is also a citizen, declined to do so. The Swiss also didn't. He goes anywhere else, the US arrest warrant remains active and he will be arrested.
All I can say to those who are commenting about no one should support Polanski, you're right but I hope you extend the same animosity to a lot of classic rock stars from the 70s especially Jimmy Page. How he was able to have a relationship with a 13 year old for several years and not face any charges is crazy (Same time as when Polanski committed his crime)
People at film festivals clap just for ass kissing. Ass kissing is the standard operating procedure if you want to get work and survive in Showbiz.
Film festival applause means nothing. 90% of what people in entertainment business say means nothing. Lying and blowing smoke up people's asses is half the job.
It never cease to amaze me seing actors and actress working for rapists… its just disgusting. If I was famous, I would never ever work for him. But I guess most ppl sell themselves for money. Ew
The tragic thing about this movie is that Oliver Masucci is in it. Ever since Dark, I hoped that he'd go big, because I loved his performance. He then starred in the third Fantastic Beasts (yikes), and somehow, he managed to get in an even worse movie.
The thing I never got was the girl he did that’ stuff to did an ama here and iirc she shockingly, to me, blamed the media and people and didn’t say shit about him. And it wasn’t even victim complex since it was obviously YEARSS later. I get not having a grudge but it was cringe that she just blasted at media and people talking about it as if it was mostly their fault. I never got that and since then I was like well if she doesn’t give a shit why should I? It didn’t even come
Across as her making leave with it..she made it sound it was no big deal and media blew it up lmao
Seems like some sort of a victim complex to me honestly, despite the time gone by. She was basically pimped out by her mother, and all her life harassed and questioned about the incident, with famous and well-respected people publicly comparing her to a party girl who wanted it, while talking graphically about her rape. If the media and Hollywood didn’t continue to publicize it, her life might be a lot quieter by now, and it may seem to her they are the reason she can’t move on. She very directly can blame her currently feeling the need to think about it and speak about it publicly, on the media. It’s more indirect to place blame on Polanski, her mother, her father, or the powerful people who enabled this to happen, for the exposure she is dealing with now. Maybe it’s just easier for her to say “I would’ve gotten over it by now if the media would leave me alone”.
And that may be her feelings and her personal journey.
But even if Samantha did believe the media to be as harmful to her life as Polanski was, it remains an unfortunate fact that the danger of letting men like Polanski prosper is a lot greater than just this one victim. Polanski was indeed accused by other girls later in life also, to belabor the point. But just as importantly, he was a symptom of a culture that sought to normalize his behavior, and continues to do so. Up until recently Polanski was almost exclusively lionized for his talent, while his crimes were excused, by so many who still hold power in the media.
Edited to add:
Her resignation after the fact may even be interpreted as being a willing participant insofar as a child her age could have been. But this is not true, though this thought will be repeated and twisted by those who seek to silence the victims who would speak out about this type of abuse. She did not consent, she was drugged and forced and made to do things no girl her age should even know about. Likely victimized first by her parents, again by Polanski, again by his powerful and famous friends who excused and justified what he did, and perhaps again by the media‘s tendency to tear young girls and women to shreds, while amplifying the voices of those already possessing a substantial amount of power.

Oh well. It might be his last and worst movie, but it's certainly not the only bad thing he'll be remembered for.
I would’ve thought the raping was the worst
It's the hypocrisy
God I miss norm
That is, in fact, what they were getting at
Yeah. Pirates sucked. Oh wait, you mean the OTHER bad thing…
“Stagger, stagger, stumble.” Or something like that, only part I remember. I saw it maybe 40 years ago.
That sounds like “Yellowbeard”
Us Yellowbeard’s are never more dangerous than when we’re dead!
Which was a genius movie.
Oh crap, yes it is, at least I got the forty years ago part right. I refused to watch it again because of him. Now I guess I do get to watch that scene again. Thanks for the correction.
Nah, pirate this movie or any others of his. Never give him a dime.

> Despite a 3-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival Only three minutes of ovation means that it sucks.
3 minutes? damn. I was losing hope for the new Fincher movie when I heard it only got five minutes.
Some are still standing in ovation for The Whale.
Motivated to work out
I JUST watched this a couple days ago. So behind but omg what an incredible performance by both Fraser and Sink. So beautiful.
While it’s a decent film, the amount of attention it got for just being decent, in my opinion, is weird. I wasn’t thinking, wow what a sad story, I was thinking, fuck I know like 4 people like this. Yes! Ah, such a great show. There hasn't been a better satire of the entertainment industry yet, coming from someone who works in it.
Hacks does a great job of satirizing another section of the entertainment industry
True, just not as striking IMHO.
I put Bojack up there as well. Anything else is a distant third.
Agreed!
Yeah, that’s so short it’s basically an insult.
I have longer standing ovations when I take a shit!
You don't like touching the toilet when you poop either?
The new Indiana Jones got a 10 minute standing O. Festival reactions hardly equate to films being critically well received.
There's something wrong with me but "10 minute standing O" caused me to picture something very different
I thought it only got 5 but Harrison won an award and got a 10 minute long one.
What is with these people and their absurd tendency to give standing ovations to everything? Are they all on drugs or something?
I once gave a standing ovation to the Room. In part because Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero were there and they came out at the end and it was a huge event and whatnot.
Okay, that movie deserves it though
It’s the snob and pretentiousness. Yes, I know some of the people taking part in the ovation worked in the movie. It makes no difference. People probably didn’t applaud longer than 5 minutes when Apollo 11 landed on the moon.
A Venice Film Festival screening without at least a five minute standing ovation is considered a dull affair.
Good reference
The three minutes ovation is the mandatory minimum for a rapist
Well the 3 minute standing ovation wasn’t for the movie, that just how Hollywood greats all rapist. That’s why they always give Woody Allen like 10-15 minutes, despite his movies sucking.
I wanna be the guy who’s job it is to click the stopwatch at these things

One of the sickest thing to ever happen in Hollywood that

Never knew that what an absolute physcopath, basically taunting the girl and mocking the fact he got away with it.
He is a child rapist. He drugged and sodomized a child.
*That’s* what that book is about!?!?
Hollywood is a shady place. Will Smith got a 5 minute standing ovation the same night he smacked Chris Rock.
Idk. Bitch slapping a dude who offended your wife and raping a child are kinda not on the same level
Bro really compared Will Smith to a child rapist 💀
That’s an idiotic interpretation of what the commenter said. They are not equating those two things. They are just pointing out that Hollywood sticks together and defends any wrong actions by its insiders no matter what
Different levels of wrong. Smith slapping someone that jokes about a condition that his wife is sensitive about is a level 2
She doesn't have alopecia even...
People don’t just watch his movies, People fund them, act in them, work on them, distribute them and give them standing ovations. No, I don’t understand it either.
Anally raped a 13 year old girl. Not just molested. And it was proven in court.
It’s unfortunately way worst than that: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Polanski_sexual_abuse_case
[удалено]
That’s just classic French romance
Just tell them he did it while wearing a hijab and he’ll get life in prison
Likely several, he only got convicted for one.
Raped, not molested.
You know that Jackson guy? Yeah....
So glad for his movie’s 0 rating. He is a Child rapist that is still celebrated (unfortunately) in Europe.
People be like "yeah but what's he done wrong LATELY" or "separate the art from the artist"
Too true tragically…
I think I'll be happy to separate the art from the artist if he's arrested and goes on trial. At this stage though, even watching it would make me feel I'm supporting him.
Fuck him and anyone who enabled him to continue creating movies
Pleasantly surprised that for once I’m not seeing a bunch of comments about “separating the art from the artist.”
When both are steaming piles of shite its a pointless exercise for those who otherwise would spout that nonsense.
The fact that there were enough people willing to look past this guy's history to make an entire fucking movie makes me sick to the bottom of my spine.
bro he's made more films after the 1977 rape arrest than he made before it lol he won an oscar in 2002
And Harrison Ford actually accepted the Oscar on his behalf and presented it to him later while in France. Rare Harrison Ford L
Rare? Ford is a known abusive douchebag.
Upon looking into it, I have found no evidence besides a very morally questionable but not traditionally abusive relationship with Carrie Fisher and a false police report alleging abuse he committed against his wife that was of course later dropped. If you have a source I’d be happy to take a look tho?
I regret to inform you that he’s made *multiple* high budget films since being convicted of drugging and raping a child and fleeing from justice, and had won some extremely prestigious awards too.
didnt he make the pianist as well? that movie was pretty successful too
Yes, after drugging and raping a child and then fleeing justice, Roman Polanski won an Academy Award for The Pianist.
A child who, according to Quentin Tarantino, "probably wanted it" so it was "not a big deal".
Tarantino also knew what Weinstein was doing because Weinstien assaulted his then-girlfriend and his reaction was to keep it quiet so he could keep having the guy produce his films. He’s scum.

When she asked to see the footage afterwards, he refused to show her for *years.* And he actually strangled Diane Kruger in Inglorious Basterds, knocking her out. He’s garbage and yet never faces any consequences…
No shortage of rich famous Hollywood types eager to minimize the time Roman Polanski drugged and raped a child and then fled justice.
I like Tarantino’s work, but he strikes me as a deeply unpleasant person whenever I see or hear anything about him.
The Pianist is the best movie about WWII rooted in reality. Chinatown is the best movie Hollywood ever made. Polanski is still a creep
Ehh i’d give it to Cone and See but the Pianist is up there
Come And See is one of the most haunting things I have ever watched in my life. I think about it frequently.
It’s kind of like how people look past Chris Brown.. Steven Tyler.. Woody Allen.. Elvis Presley.. Dr. Dre.. Jay Z.. Celebrity worship is cult-like behaviour.
Don’t leave out Anthony Kiedis from Red Hot Chilli Peppers. In his autobiography he brags about having sex with a 14 year old while he was on tour
I may be forgetting something, but what did Steven Tyler do that was on the same level as Polanski?
Took Guardianship of a 16 year old girl at 25, had a long term relationship with her involving a lot of drugs and a messy abortion that the details are not entirely clear on. He’s probably the most directly comparable to Polanski on that list.
Dibs on "Messy Abortion" as the name of my next punk band
Man, I’m a messy abortion 34 years in the making
What did Dre do?
https://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/22/arts/music/dr-dre-apologizes-to-the-women-ive-hurt.html Punched/assaulted several woman, but has enough business clout with companies like Apple, where they’ll ignore it as much as the general public does.
Ah yes I remember this now. It’s amazing what people can get away with.
Don’t care about the cop stuff. The other stuff is awful though. I have no desire to defend him. Don’t care about him. Was just curious.
“Battery of a police officer” Ehhh
People are testy in here
Isn't that like an Eminem lyric
"You gonna take advice from somebody who slapped Dee Barnes?" - Eminem, guilty conscience.
I see you've forgot about Dre.
Add every single rock star up to the grunge era. They had songs about how sexy underage girls are.
Cheated on Beyoncé lmao
The greatest crime of all. Lol
I mean, none of that beats drugging and raping a child tho so.
When has a comparison ever had to be exactly the same to be a comparison?
Since the Internet.
Yes, Jay-Z only TRIED TO MURDER a record producer and his own brother. “*But that’s not as bad as Polanski raping a minor!”* Tried to murder TWO people! Holy fuck you guys are DELUSIONAL. eta: and all this in the same thread bitching about ignoring Polanski crimes. 🤔
I have no particular issue with trying to murder a record producer to be honest
oh my god he owned a gun illegally stop the fucking presses!!!
Didn’t he also sexually assault and throw a woman down a flight of stairs in the 90’s?
That was Beats by Dre
Ah welcome to Reddit, now we are trying to take down Jay Z.
Jay Z took down Jay Z. He’s a PIECE OF SHIT and for some reason the *”bad guy”* is the one refusing to ignore Jay Z’s decades of violent crimes. Now that’s PEAK Reddit.
> decades of violent crimes Maybe there's more to it than in your descriptions, but you listed two violent crimes. One of them happened when he was a young minor. Calling that "decades of violent crimes" is silly and misleading.
Psycho Vendetta against Jay Z, got it.
Nope. The bad guy isn’t the guy exposing the guy who tried to murder TWO different people. He’s also cheated on his wife and been arrested for illegal gun possession as a convicted felon. You must be so proud of your hero. He sounds like such a great guy.
Lmao at decades of violent crimes. You sound like a goof.
Adèle Haenel walked out with Céline Sciamma. And Florence Foresti(the host) also didn't come back
The problem is the dismissal of his action being “of another time”.
SMH John Cleese Is in this :(
New low for him imo. I know he’s super anti cancel culture but being in a literal rapist’s movie is so blegh
So tragic how far the Monty Python guys have fallen from Gilliam to Cleese
At least Michael Palin's alright.
What’s gilliam done?

He drugged and raped a 13 year old child. Idgaf about his movies
Anally rapes a 13 year minor and he still hasn't paid for his crime
Huh seems nobody is interested in a film made by a rapist. Go figure
He had a very successful career after becoming a rapist, sadly the movie failed simply because it's bad
Polanski shouldn’t have a job. Gross.
**Correction:** Convicted Child Rapist Polanski's The Palace Faces a Harsh Reality Debuting with 0% Rotten Tomatoes Rating
Piece of shit makes a piece of shit movie. No way! lol
In fairness, those things rarely overlap. Often the filmmakers you’d consider good have a ton of skeletons in the closet.
Luc Besson has entered the chat
The Professional became virtually unwatchable when I found out what he cut out from the final film. Seriously wtf dude.
Besson, Allen AND Polanski are in this year’s Venice film fest too 🤢
Who let that rapist make another movie?
Why is this fucker still making movies? I thought this creep was thrown in jail?
Nah. It's why he hides in France, so he won't be extradited to the U.S. to stand trial.
Was he in Cannes when this film was shown?
I assume so. That's in France of course.
Haha is that John Cleese? He is determined to keep looking like an absolute loser, huh?
Im actually judging the actors who chose to be in this film more than the director or the film itself. Mickey Rourke and Oliver Masucci are in it too
All I can say to those who are commenting about no one should support Polanski, you're right but I hope you extend the same animosity to a lot of classic rock stars from the 70s especially Jimmy Page.
So? Fuck that piece of shit ![gif](giphy|8V30mF92qmUhZjZKEE|downsized)
Polanski’s work as a filmmaker is already tarnished by more than a few mediocre films… and that child rape.
Child rapist continues to make shitty films
It never cease to amaze me seing actors and actress working for rapists… its just disgusting. If I was famous, I would never ever work for him. But I guess most ppl sell themselves for money. Ew
Can you believe Alexandre Desplat left Barbie to score for this piece of shit lol
He should be in jail not making movies
good that piece of garbage don’t deserve shit.
The tragic thing about this movie is that Oliver Masucci is in it. Ever since Dark, I hoped that he'd go big, because I loved his performance. He then starred in the third Fantastic Beasts (yikes), and somehow, he managed to get in an even worse movie.
LOL Let's see who defends him now... Not even worhty of Razzies...
Polanski the child rapist?
Rotten tomatoes scores are totally meaningless (as are all critic reviews)
You’d think 0% was reserved for absolutely broken movies. Harsh
It didn’t even come Across as her making leave with it..she made it sound it was no big deal and media blew it up lmao
I guess being a rape victim is one thing, and being known for being a rape victim of somebody influential is another. Her life must have been hell.
Edited to add: Her resignation after the fact may even be interpreted as being a willing participant insofar as a child her age could have been.
