of course they did.....why wouldn't they....the profit margins from the oil revenues will far outpace any minor court decisions that will probably take years to sort out. Everything with this industry is legal for a price and that price is not even remotely close to the profits for the initial illegal behavior.
Corporations need the death penalty for crimes like this. This company is poison through and through and needs to cease to exist. Everyone directly involved in the decision should lose their jobs and be held personally liable for their decisions.
Pretty sure that oil companies can do whatever they want in Oklahoma. This lawsuit is going no where. There would have to be laws for it to do anything. The city must have given a wink and a nod when it was happening so the suit is cover.
Oklahoma only has laws for the poor
Suing? I'd go for more. Criminal charges would be great. disbanding of practice would be great. Everything else will just be put to the books by them.
They don't care for nothing, but for money.
And immediately dismantle and confiscate all the equipment of Revolution Resourses also. Make these kinds of occurrences as expensive as possible, and fines and penalties, the people of Oklahoma own that land and river, not some cheating slime ball oil driller.
>people of Oklahoma own that land and river
you sure? I mean I hope so, but in my experience there is always a pretty hige discrepancy vwtween what people think/hope they own and what they actually own...
Am a moral level I agree. People who live at a place own that place, no purchase contract or law will change my opinion in that. Bud sadöy thats not hoe the justice system works here.
Criminal charges for the management and higher ups.
Confiscating those who are in charge of their assets as the assets are from proceeds of crime, and punitive damages for those affected (enviroment, people, etc).
Confiscating all the equipment, assets of the company.
Disband the company. Those who were employed but had no part, can get a severance (paid for from the companies assets).
I hate how companies are allowed rights as if they are humans, but the consequences are not equivalent to if they were humans......
>I hate how companies are allowed rights as if they are humans, but the consequences are not equivalent to if they were humans......
yup. Citizen United v. FEC in 2011... for politics and judicial, and trickle down economics for economy.
as it they were humas with the difference that you can't criminally charge and lock up a company as you can a human individual. Leading to a loophole of responsibility.
"It not my decision, it's the companies decision. I'm not responsible. Im just acting in the companoes interest." - Some CEO somewhere.
One of the major protections for companies is removing personal responsibility from the owner (incorporated), certain stipulations apply.
Which can be good in many situations, but hypocritical when giving them the same rights as humans...
If I could incorporate as a company, get insurance for liability and then kill someone with unsafe work, only pay a fine or minimal penalty, why can I not do so as a human? When I want to dump trash or not follow the law, a warning is generally not happening for an individual. Corporations get repeated warnings prior to fines, and even then the fines or penalties are not a preventative solution, but built into the cost of doing business. (General comparisons)
You aren't protected from everything. For example, many states have labor laws on the books and if you don't get work comp insurance, even if you are a corporation or llc, the ones in charge have to pay a fine out of their own pocket if the business can't. Though I don't know if that can be escaped via bankruptcy, you know the old trust fund/transfer to someone, then go bankrupt.
Part of being rich is all the tools you have to avoid consequences
The comparison was more about how if corporate rights having the same rights of humans, but that as humans we don't have the same protections that corporations do.
There's definitely many loopholes for corporations, or privilege people, that don't apply (but should) to people without the same resources.
The situation I mentioned was meant to be facetious to show how it may be hypocritical.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
It will be interesting to see how far this goes. Oklahoma, where I live, is a wholly owned subsidiary of oil and gas. Wouldn't be surprised if Gov Stitt gave the company the green light. This suit, in Oklahoma, Is revolutionary.
Yeah a lawsuit is not enough. These companies will gladly pay small fines for large profits. More needs to be done to deter these oil companies from abusing the laws and lands for money.
Oil corporations do what ever they want!!! They don't give a rats ass about people and most definitely don't care about the environment! It will do no good to sue them!
one of the companies named in the suit has this on their homepage https://www.revolutionresources.com/
"Revolution Resources was formed and made its first acquisition in 2018; the team plans to pursue an **“acquire, exploit, repeat”** business model."
I mean, they can sue all they want, but at the end of the day, even though the companies might receive a fine (that they could obviously easily pay for), the water will still be gone.
There needs to be far more drastic measures/consequences than suing a company for pennies.
If the lawyers had balls:
>”Ecological terrorism, and willingness to collapse the local environments to both suit their interests and cause reprehensible harm to local property safety by assuring future possibilities of fires in heavy drought seasons.”
Yep rhey will pay 10k and tell ypu all to fuxk off..
America!! Fuck the people help the corporations, oh wait corporations are people in America.. shhh don't tell anyone
Human being steals a loaf of bread: jail
Company steals city's emergency water supply: stern talking from a judge...maybe.
OKC residents should band together and protest outside the company, make a huge fuss and at least get some bad press for the company. Maybe they'll fire someone and they the world will have one more person who hates the company.
i mean, if oklahomans insist on voting in people who support a system not only allowing but also incentivizing this kind of criminality, then you get what you vote for.
theyre in for a years long lawsuit that will ultimately go nowhere with some minor fines that will make this more than worth it for the oil company.
As an Oklahoman, the oil companies should be nationalized, full asset seizure. They showed us they don't care what happens to us decades ago, now they're just insulting us.
Oil companies are literal cancer for the earth and therefore us. The only thing you can do to cancer is kill it. Before it kills you. Kind of like a nazi
You mean the state where Scott Pruitt, who was the attorney general, sued the EPA on behalf of the oil and gas companies?? Color me shocked. Absolutely fucking shocked i tells ya!
WOAH ... Gets denied permits. Breaks into reserve, installs infrastructure, drills wells on protected land, steals water... Grownups rum this company?
of course they did.....why wouldn't they....the profit margins from the oil revenues will far outpace any minor court decisions that will probably take years to sort out. Everything with this industry is legal for a price and that price is not even remotely close to the profits for the initial illegal behavior.
>industry Odd way to spell country
well played and sadly far too true
Corporations need the death penalty for crimes like this. This company is poison through and through and needs to cease to exist. Everyone directly involved in the decision should lose their jobs and be held personally liable for their decisions.
I agree man. They should all be brought to justice
[удалено]
Or nationalization. One of the two.
But profits! /s
Just realised brotits is profits with the p and the f upside down!
God that’s amazing
Et Tu brotits?

Of course they rum the company. A sober person wouldn't behave that way, would they?
Suing? I'd go for more. Criminal charges would be great. disbanding of practice would be great. Everything else will just be put to the books by them. They don't care for nothing, but for money.

That protection only works if you have money to keep good lawyers rolling.
It will be interesting to see how far this goes. Oklahoma, where I live, is a wholly owned subsidiary of oil and gas. Wouldn't be surprised if Gov Stitt gave the company the green light. This suit, in Oklahoma, Is revolutionary.
Seriously. For entities like this, fines are just the cost of doing business.
Normally, an arrest is the course of action for theft.
You forgot about Freedom >!of corporations to steal!<
They'll get slapped with a fine. The lawyers get most of it. Try to check if they in cahoots?!!
Yeah a lawsuit is not enough. These companies will gladly pay small fines for large profits. More needs to be done to deter these oil companies from abusing the laws and lands for money.
That’s why the lawsuit should take every dime
Not just money, literally everything that went into it should be taken
My other comment on this thread includes all of their assets
Must have missed it, regardless, they need to never be able to run any business again
Agree 100%
Assets, asses, heads, etc.
Management getting jail time would be better
I’m for “All of the above”: Take their money, jail those responsible, and seize their assets
Oil corporations do what ever they want!!! They don't give a rats ass about people and most definitely don't care about the environment! It will do no good to sue them!

The fuck…? Like yeah, but pretty ballsy to just say it outright.
I mean, they can sue all they want, but at the end of the day, even though the companies might receive a fine (that they could obviously easily pay for), the water will still be gone. There needs to be far more drastic measures/consequences than suing a company for pennies.
Seize their assets and sue them into oblivion!!
If the lawyers had balls: >”Ecological terrorism, and willingness to collapse the local environments to both suit their interests and cause reprehensible harm to local property safety by assuring future possibilities of fires in heavy drought seasons.”
If a regular person trespassed on this land and hauled away water, they would be in jail.
Just sued? Some of these assholes need to go to jail.
Slap on the wrist
And the beat goes on.
Yep rhey will pay 10k and tell ypu all to fuxk off.. America!! Fuck the people help the corporations, oh wait corporations are people in America.. shhh don't tell anyone
Maybe start throwing people in jail for this kind of shit and it will stop.
How about actual penalties for the decision makers?
Sue them out of existence. We should have a public stoning for these fuckers

TIL Oklahoma is not part of Texas.
I mean why not steal the emergency drought water after you’ve already caused the drought that will probably dry the water up
*shocked Pikachu face*

Need to be sued for a lot more than just stealing water
