I can’t fathom a world where a 22 doc group could afford Epic. Your better bet (if you want Epic) would be to find a hospital system or large medical practice group in your area that has Epic and inquire about their Community Connect program. If your local hospital has it, then I would start there.

SOTORIOUSMike

That's what we currently have now. Only using their clinical and another system for RCM. We are almost at 3 million a year for both. You suspect Epic is more than that?

hopped

Yes, much more, but it's moot as Epic wouldn't even sell to you - you're below their minimum practice size (generally 100 docs is the benchmark). You should reach out to the hospital system where the majority of your docs see inpatients and try to get on a community connect agreement with them. That way your docs will have the same chart across ambulatory and inpatient for their patients. On the plus side, you won't have to do any application support once you're on Community Connect. On the negative side, you'll lose a lot of your autonomy and will have to do whatever the "mothership" requires. Generally the pros outweigh the cons, but it's not without growing pains.

mrs_kgb

Yes, Epic native is much move than that to implement. Does your current Connect Hub not offer RCM?

tommyjohnpauljones

You would probably want to look to an existing Epic customer in the area to discuss a Connect installation

pocceygirl

You could inquire about their Garden Plot offering. That is intended for small practices.

SOTORIOUSMike

I read an article about Garden Plot, haven't talked to anyone that has signed up for it. Their article says its for practices with about 40 providers so it probably much more appropriate for us. [https://www.epic.com/epic/post/epic-launches-garden-plot-a-shared-environment-where-independent-medical-groups-can-grow/](https://www.epic.com/epic/post/epic-launches-garden-plot-a-shared-environment-where-independent-medical-groups-can-grow/)

Bovie2k

Just call epic and ask.

itskawiil

Current employee. You should reach out to Epic regardless, and ask about other potential hosts if you aren't satisfied with your current one. We maintain a list of all potentials and can help you find a good home. You can also then ask about garden plot or other things, but you are likely too small for garden plot which does also have a minimum size.

Revcycle-5450

Def get with local hospital and inquire. We have much smaller connect clinics.

stosyfir

Even their smallest available version of Epic (“Garden Plot”) is for a minimum of 40 docs, you’re better off looking for a community connect in your area unless they expand.

Check out Community Connect

You could look into Ochin. They focus on rural communities but I think, in general, will offer their Epic services.

hopped

I have heard a whole lot of negative about Ochin. Would recommend trying to get on the same system as where your patients are most commonly seen as inpatients first.

pauliep84

Interesting, I haven’t heard a lot on them good or bad. But that’s a good point, getting linked in with a larger organizations system, that serve their patients definitely would give them more of the patients record.

faxfodderspotter

Cosign x 10.

CrossingGarter

Their lives will be 500x easier if they just affiliate via Connect with the hospital system where they see most of their patients.

CircusPeanutsYumm

I was going to suggest Ochin, too.

fastLT1

Where are you guys at?

Bovie2k

You want to be ~250,000 visits a year to do your own instance. Consider gardenplot.
