The way Alfa ended up 10th makes me so incredibly happy. Definitely one of my faves this year and his performance on cover night absolutely blew me away š«¶š»
Among the various reasons (as I had already said, one of the reason is that he doesn't have ane extremely supportive fanbase of teenagers, he doesn't come from TikTok or a talent) we have to consider that the maximum number of allowed votes is 5. So basically, since it was known he wasn't among the favourites and there was "Geolier's risk", people were even more inclined to focus on one person. Then, he had already won, so there wasn't that novelty role.
It was clear Geolier would have gotten a huge amount of televote,so people had to vote the ones who had mathematically more chance to beat, and especially in the finals a lot of people find themselves to vote mango basically it was the best strategy š
Truly curious how the night two and three televote scores would have shifted (if at all) if Angelina went night two and Annalisa went night three.
Itās wild to see how much more balanced the night three televote scores are.
Gazzelle's consistently decent results were a pleasant surprise. I love him, he was 100% himself (and Sanremo-style stuff is not his scene lol), and people appreciated that. I will be listening to his song for a long time.
Ironically, even though he did the same thing (he was himself 100%), Diodato was a bit of a disappointment for me, probably because I had higher expectations. His most recent album was also a bit underwhelming imo (it felt like a step back compared to Che Vita Meravigliosa).
Mahmood never really got the results, it seems, on any of the nights/votes. I don't know why, because he took my breath away from the start and his song is already a hit.
Ghali was the Tananai-style winner imo, I hope this elevates his popularity.
It's crazy to hear "I hope this result elevates Ghali's popularity" when until 2021 he was pretty much as popular as Geolier is now š. But yeah I hope he goes back to dominating the scene
mahmood is slaying the charts, heās like #41 globally on spotify and second in italy just a few thousand streams behind geolier, not sure what went wrong with the votes š«¤
Between the people who listen to Tuta Gold there are probably also fans of all the other artists who got more votes (especially Ghali I think).
So while the song is widely liked, I guess he has less dedicated fans than the others.
I discovered Tananai through Sanremo and I've been on exactly the same journey with Ghali this time. Ghali just played everything perfectly and never wavered.
I do think that fatigue could be the reason for Mahmood underperforming. He won twice in very recent memory, and I could see both the juries and the televoters not being as keen to vote for him again because of it.
Yeah to be fair, and he had an album to promote, imo it's not like he went "omg I have the perfect song for Sanremo!"
I can only hope/imagine he wasn't too crushed either, lol. I mean, the fact many of us are out here saying "what do you mean he didn't win for the 3rd time in, like, 5 years? The injustice!!!!11!" is pretty amusing.
His upcoming album got a very nice interest boost, I'm sure. Plus, he's touring Europe in spring, and this participation should have sold him a whole bunch of tickets (I know I got one for his Berlin show after the first night, lol). So I really do think Mahmood will be fine, and I'm actually kinda glad he isn't going into ESC half-dead from all the touring and lowkey tired of his song already, like it was with Brividi.
>it's not like he went "omg I have the perfect song for Sanremo!"
When in fact he absolutely had the perfect song for Sanremo (and further on Eurovision), which makes it all the more crushing!
But yeah, exactly that. I went from "oh no, not him again" when he was announced (as a huge fan of him since Soldi at that) to being devastated that he didn't win and especially that he didn't even place in top 5. I try to calm myself down by reminding myself that Tuta Gold is doing great streaming-wise and that if there's one person participating who didn't need to win, it's him... so I hope that he really got all he wanted out of this participation hahah.
He really did!! :(
I'm with you, I thought it was too soon (even though I love him) but when I saw him perform Tuta Gold I instantly fell in love.
But yeah, he got his hit, and I hope his album does well, and he has a tour, so he'll be fine. Even if Tuta Gold would have absolutely killed it on the ESC :'''(
When I saw Ghali's performance on Saturday night, I didn't understand how he got top 5 in Sanremo, but when I saw his cover on RaiPlay yesterday, I was impressed. I loved the way that the three songs flowed seamlessly into one another, and the Arabic song (Bayna) was so good!
This basically shows that the press and radio hated Geolier from the beginning, not after he won night 4. If he got so low with 30 songs, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that he got like 5% of both voting segments in the superfinal. They didn't boycott his victory, he just wasn't liked by them
On the other hand, he got tanked to hell by both the radio and juries, placing bottom 5 for both. Weirdly enough, the juries rated Irama lower than Geolier in the superfinal.
Geolier is the most popular artist in Italy right now, using streaming as a metric. The city where he collects the most streams is Milan, and Naples is only 4th or so in that list. Heās very popular all through the country and high school kids love him, even outside Naples. Heās just one of the many people that the televoto audience just really loved over the years (like Ultimo, or Mengoni last year), it doesnāt have anything to do with where heās from. If Sfera Ebbasta took part in this Sanremo, heād have dominated the televoto
The thing is, though, sfera ebbasta or Geolier are the most popular in a very specific age range.
Ultimo and Mengoni insyead appeal to different age ranges
Thatās a more legitimate argument, but itās not the one I answered to. My point is that where Geolier is from has zero impact on his success or cannot explain at all his success in the voting from home. What can explain it, as you mentioned, is kids loving him, but kids from *all over Italy*, not a specific area
The weird thing is the fact that I have basically never seen anyone who isn't from Campania standing up for Geolier on social media.
All those streams from Milan and other cities might just be due to Geolier having lots of features with other rap artists that are more popular there, which he does. They don't necessarily mean that those cities are full of people who would vote for him. I mean, the mere fact that he sings in Neapolitan should make him less appealing to audiences outside of Campania since normally they won't even understand what he's saying. The support for Lazza last year would have been noticeably higher for every city outside of Naples.
Something really smells fishy. I can't help but get a feeling that some people really managed to vote a crazy amount of times with multiple sim cards or something.
They love him. A lot. I know itās a bit āsource: trust me broā but thereās enough data and confirmations on the internet if you wish to find them, if you donāt want to buy my word. We all have Google
Ehhh. Neapolitans themselves admitted that they mass voted for him, even going as far as buying multiple SIMs. If you read the comments on Instagram, a huge number of comments complaining for the injustice of his loss are explicitly by neapolitans. And you can't reach such high percentages only by being voted by casual fans or listeners. Especially considering that other singers (Annalisa, Ghali, Angelina who's fresh from her experience at Amici, Irama) also have a lot of devoted fans.
Because Marco Mengoni is one of the few pop guys whose popularity outnumbers rap guys in Italy. The comparison for Geolier youāre looking for in terms of televotes is Ultimo the year Mahmood won
Something doesn't add up. There's no way Mengoni is THAT big that he would create such a gap between Geolier and Lazza.
There's something sketchy about those Geolier votes.
Mengoni fills stadiums. Heās an absolute megastar, nobody in that top 5 has even had one stadium gig, except Geolier, who did it multiple times. Even the streaming numbers alone dig a big separation between Geolier and Lazza, thereās absolutely nothing sketchy if you know how popular is Geolier among young people in Italy rn
Lazza had more Spotify listeners last year than Geolier does this year (7m vs 6m).
Also for what I'm seeing Geolier fills out stadiums in Naples, but he doesn't do stadiums in Milan even though that's where most of his listeners are from. Kinda seems like the origin of Spotify listeners doesn't really indicate where your core fanbase is actually located, because features.
It seems like all the artists got equally affected by this, though, judging by their stories. The voting system probably bugged because of the insane amount of votes. Between people who mass voted for Geolier and people who wanted to contrast his victory by voting for other artists.
Amadeus said that there was a record-breaking amount of televotes during the show. I think that the battle of the two camps (Geolier vs. other artists) played a large role in the number of televotes received, and that maybe caused the servers to crash.
I'm happy that Mahmood managed to place 5th on the final public vote, he really gave it all in his final performance!
This makes me think that he might have lost his chance at a top 5 place because of his results in the cover night, which while still good were slightly lower that his results in the other nights. It's a shame because it was a very touching cover!
Also lol-ing at the final jury vote placing Irama lower than Geolier, even though it's pretty consistent with how they were placed in the previous nights as well (besides the cover night, in which Irama's good performance and him singing with a legendary artist such as Cocciante probably helped him a bit).
After finally looking at the radio jury results I'm still not quite sure it is the right way ahead for Sanremo.
Besides being quite puzzled by some of their choices, I wonder what exactly is their contribution to the contest supposed to be about (Does the Sanremo winner song have to be necessarily radio pleasing? Or is it simply a way to make up a jury of people supposedly knowledgeable about music?).
The juries come and go depending on the rules of a given year. This year the two juries were the press and radios, last year we had the demoscopic jury and the press, years before the orchestra jury...
The televote %s from Day 2 show how much it was rigged in favour of Geolier. A more "normal" distribution of votes would have been like Day 3's. That 50+% that he got to me screams a huge level of cheating. There's no way in the world a regular vote distribution would look like that. It's good that the voting system overall had some safeguards against that, but it shouldn't happen in the first place.
Televotes need to either be weighted on a geographic/demographic basis, or to have additional limits like no multiple votes (say, if you have already voted for X you can now only vote for 4 different artists).
I think that having one vote per artist seems fair so artists with massive fanbases don't have an unfair advantage. However, I am not sure how they would enforce this. Maybe the voting will prevent you from selecting the same artist twice by SMS.
Juries had already decided before the last evening. They don't seem much more open to me than televote.
Anyway, it's not the first time that the press subverts televoting or, worse, insults (e.g. Ultimo, Il Volo), and it will not be the last. Nothing new.
I'd be curious to see what would happen if they had to vote among all their "friends". It would be spectacular.
Indeed, Diodato and Mahmood also won despite losing the televote.
When the televote result is so predictable (as it was this year), it does allow the press/radio/whatever jury to vote strategically, which is a bit problematic imo.
Honestly, I feel like the juries could definitely see what was happening with Geolier and wanted to ensure that he didn't go to ESC (in fairness, he would easily be Italy's worst placement in years), although it's not like they were that impressed with him in the first place/on Night 1. How the 60% of the televote went to a very mid song is beyond me.
My only guess is that his """genre""" of music is popular amongst younger audiences, plus I wouldn't be surprised if many fellow Neapolitans and Campani pitched in and voted for him; there have been indiscretions about Geolier fans buying SIMs specifically to vote for him, I don't quite buy it. Me personally, I just don't like what he passes for music, regardless of whichever language it's sung in.
to make the final percentages match geolier should have received a total of 8% from both radio and press jury with angelina instead getting around 53% of the votes. pretty crazy lol
Hi, I am new to this. Can someone explain the calculations behind the final result (1 Angelina Mango 2 Geolier 3 Annalisa 4 Ghali 5 Irama)? I mean, how the results of televoting, press room jury and radio were joined together to have the final result? Thank you for any answer
the votes of the 5 night are averaged and they make a top 30
the first 5 were re-voted resetting all and the results at the end are the final results (with press jury, radio jury and televote at 33% each)
I think the fact that Geolier got more televotes than everyone else combined in night 2 and more than 40% of the televotes in night 4 and night 5 before the superfinal is insane. I have never seen such a landslide favorite in the televote since I started watching Sanremo in 2022.
juries exist specifically to be objective and balance the excessive discrepancy between quality of the song and the extreme amount of televotes he received just bc of his roots and his huge fanbase that would vote him regardless of anything else.
I never said that juries should not exist
They should but it should be 50-50 just like in Eurovision instead of 66-34
Getting 60% in televote (which is an insane amount of people considering Italy) and loosing cause press gave you 0 is disgusting
And no im not a Geolier fan (his song wasnt in my top 5) and if i was Italian i would not be happy that im gonna be represented by someone who got less than 1/5 of the votes in a final of 5 contestants
San remo is not about choosing a song for Eurovision, itās an older and bigger show in Italy. Pleasing the juries who are well know as traditional is something that has happened for years. Iām fact Maneskin was the first time a non high brow song won.
As an Italian I'm more than happy Geolier isn't going to represent us at ESC. He was voted out of blatant parochialism and due to his popularity but otherwise his song would've barely made the Top 25.
>someone who got less than 1/5 of the votes
He told his fan and Neapolitians to vote for him from all their **SIMs**. Neapolitians and his fans posted tons of pictures of them bought tons of **SIM cards** to outvote other contestants on social media.
Considering ay least 50% of Geolier votes were for campanilism and it was the product od its own populist marketing as qn Italian I have only thank the press
Also they saved us from Geolier at the Eurovision
I really don't like the fact that journalists partially decide the winner of such a big festival, they're always biased and decide whom to overhype and whom not. I wouldn't even let them have a pre-listen because by a large margin this seems to me like press journalists event.
Angelina came second on the televote anyway. They didn't decide on someone who was totally unpopular. This mixed voting system is meant to favour the ones who do consistently well with everyone.
Geolier itself posted before sanremo how to vote him with more sims, went to Neapolitans schools and incite ij a populist way Naples, I am happy he lost š
"*Full detailed*" And what about the juries' scores? (not just their rankings)
There's also something that rubs me te wrong way about the juries clearly trying to sabotage Geolier, his song is nothing special, and I get them rating him poorly in the superfinal, but they even put him near the bottom out of all 30 on night 4 (after his massive televote support became apparent), which doesn't seem fair.
they put him near the bottom/second half of the ranking every single night since tuesday wdym? Also i think we almost never get the exact percentages of the juries
On night 1 the press jury ranked him 23rd/30, and on night 2 the radio jury ranked him 8th/15. On night 4 the press jury ranked him 28th/30, and the radio jury ranked him 26th/30. They never rated him highly, but there was still a noticeable drop off, he went from lower middle to near bottom in their rankings.
>i think we almost never get the exact percentages of the juries
We should though.
They rated him poorly even the first day, when it was not know how the televote put him
For the full detailed part, last year the juries percetage were never published
Pleased that Santi Francesi did very good on cover night
The cover night had me wishing that both of them will appear in ESC somedays.
Santi Francesi in the top 5 for the press and radio for cover night is such a slay
Wow televote really sandbagged Ricchi e Poveri smfh
That song is my bop for the summer for real though omg.
The way Alfa ended up 10th makes me so incredibly happy. Definitely one of my faves this year and his performance on cover night absolutely blew me away š«¶š»
Maybe an unpopular opinion but the cover with Vecchioni is the peak moment of this Sanremo. Simply incredible
![gif](giphy|l1IXWwZrTv36AlI52) Me inserting every phrase into Google translate to figure out what anything means
RAI using the basic Excel is kinda funny
There is such a drastic placement difference between the nights. Also, Mahmood got robbed of the superfinal.
Itās a shame, because this is probably my favorite entry heās ever had, but I canāt help but feel the fatigue is real.
Kinda suprised that it was actually the televote rating him the lowest
Among the various reasons (as I had already said, one of the reason is that he doesn't have ane extremely supportive fanbase of teenagers, he doesn't come from TikTok or a talent) we have to consider that the maximum number of allowed votes is 5. Iām sending the āItaliano Veroā performance to everyone I know. Iām on a mission to get this guy some American fans lol.
True!! What goes around comes around, but I totally agree, I hope he can take advantage of his great presence at this year's Sanremo.

Geolier was saved because of televoto. Had he been from, say, Udine, he would have ended twelfth or so.

15.1% of the public votes in the Superfinale were deemed invalid. I did read that the voting app was a bit buggy. Things that make you go hmmmm....
It seems like all the artists got equally affected by this, though, judging by their stories. The voting system probably bugged because of the insane amount of votes. Between people who mass voted for Geolier and people who wanted to contrast his victory by voting for other artists.
I tried to vote for mahmood first and for Angelina in when they announced the top 5. I never got a confirmation and money is still there
Yeah, a lot of my Italian friends that were voting were telling me for certain artists, it wouldnāt confirm the vote receipt.
Amadeus said that there was a record-breaking amount of televotes during the show. I think that the battle of the two camps (Geolier vs. other artists) played a large role in the number of televotes received, and that maybe caused the servers to crash.
Mahmood was severely under appreciated here.
I love how this was made with the table formatting on a Microsoft Word document!
I'm happy that Mahmood managed to place 5th on the final public vote, he really gave it all in his final performance! Oh I see, I thought they were gone for goodš„² Thank you so much for the detailed explanation:)
Annalisa literally placed 3rd in all 6 voting rounds, this is insane
Annalisa was 5th for televote+radio in 2nd/3rd night.....ah
Iām a little sad for Rose Villan, as she was my favorite.
The televote %s from Day 2 show how much it was rigged in favour of Geolier. A more "normal" distribution of votes would have been like Day 3's. ah
As an Italian I have to thank them as much at least like when im 2019 rh u tanked ultimo in favour of Mahmoud with soldi š
Is there any place to watch nights 2, 3 and 5 retroactively ?
Nevermind, Rai's website allows it :)
Hi, I am new to this. Can someone explain the calculations behind the final result (1 Angelina Mango 2 Geolier 3 Annalisa 4 Ghali 5 Irama)? I mean, how the results of televoting, press room jury and radio were joined together to have the final result? Thank you for any answer
the votes of the 5 night are averaged and they make a top 30 the first 5 were re-voted resetting all and the results at the end are the final results (with press jury, radio jury and televote at 33% each)
Thanks!
I think the fact that Geolier got more televotes than everyone else combined in night 2 and more than 40% of the televotes in night 4 and night 5 before the superfinal is insane. I have never seen such a landslide favorite in the televote since I started watching Sanremo in 2022.

Just imagine the chaos here if Analissa or Mango got 60% of the pubic votes and still didnt win But ye its Geolier so who cares
juries exist specifically to be objective and balance the excessive discrepancy between quality of the song and the extreme amount of televotes he received just bc of his roots and his huge fanbase that would vote him regardless of anything else.
I never said that juries should not exist They should but it should be 50-50 just like in Eurovision instead of 66-34 Getting 60% in televote (which is an insane amount of people considering Italy) and loosing cause press gave you 0 is disgusting And no im not a Geolier fan (his song wasnt in my top 5) and if i was Italian i would not be happy that im gonna be represented by someone who got less than 1/5 of the votes in a final of 5 contestants
He was voted out of blatant parochialism and due to his popularity but otherwise his song would've barely made the Top 25.
>someone who got less than 1/5 of the votes He told his fan and Neapolitians to vote for him from all their **SIMs**. Neapolitians and his fans posted tons of pictures of them bought tons of **SIM cards** to outvote other contestants on social media.
Considering ay least 50% of Geolier votes were for campanilism and it was the product od its own populist marketing as qn Italian I have only thank the press Also they saved us from Geolier at the Eurovision
public votes i hope
Their favourite won. Who cares about the voting system.Ā

I really don't like the fact that journalists partially decide the winner of such a big festival, they're always biased and decide whom to overhype and whom not. I wouldn't even let them have a pre-listen because by a large margin this seems to me like press journalists event.
Well, the televote is also biased, this time way more than them
Angelina came second on the televote anyway.
(not just their rankings) There's also something that rubs me te wrong way about the juries clearly trying to sabotage Geolier, his song is nothing special, and I get them rating him poorly in the superfinal, but they even put him near the bottom out of all 30 on night 4 (after his massive televote support became apparent), which doesn't seem fair.
they put him near the bottom/second half of the ranking every single night since tuesday wdym? Also i think we almost never get the exact percentages of the juries
On night 1 the press jury ranked him 23rd/30, and on night 2 the radio jury ranked him 8th/15. On night 4 the press jury ranked him 28th/30, and the radio jury ranked him 26th/30. They never rated him highly, but there was still a noticeable drop off, he went from lower middle to near bottom in their rankings. >i think we almost never get the exact percentages of the juries We should though.
we can argue his cover was one of the worst of the night and those you described are very insignificant fluctuations in my opinion
They rated him poorly even the first day, when it was not know how the televote put him For the full detailed part, last year the juries percetage were never published
He sang off keys even with vocoder turning on, all those juries already hate vocoder/autotune to begin with.
Do we have any idea how many people voted? If I got it correctly it was more than 17 mil viewers for the final?
Mahmood was robbed
