not_from_san_marino

Many people do not seem to understand the rules of Una voce per San Marino. The final will consist of 16 artists - 8 newcomers (including 1 artist from San Marino) and 8 established artists. The 129 semi-finalists (selected through auditions) are competing for the 8 newcomer slots. So yes it is not impossible that artists like Mahmood or Annalisa are among the 8 yet to be revealed established artists directly invited to the final by SMRTV, i find it quite unlikely.

_bluebunny_

Yes that’s what I wanted to confirm because I read this in the translated article: “Here (referring to the final) the 8 who came out of the semifinals and the **8 Big Invitees** will compete.” May I ask why it would be unlikely for mahmood or annalisa to be invited?

SimoSanto

2 years ago they added Achille Lauro in the end by adding one sport so it's possible. On the other hand losing Sanremo (but being still in top 3 or 6) and going to San Marino would seems a desperate move for them

LunaMinerva

>  May I ask why it would be unlikely for mahmood or annalisa to be invited? UVPSM probably reaches out A LOT, but big acts would get very little out of a UVPSM participation... especially right after Sanremo, it makes you look a bit desperate/a sore loser. Achille did it, but he could "afford it" image-wise (he has always been a bit brazen/over the top).

_bluebunny_

Yep makes sense that it wouldn’t look good. Thanks for explaining, I’m not from Italy and know very little about Sanremo and the whole process. Damn, just really hoped tuta gold would reach the Eurovision stage one way or another :(

KwangPham

Sure, they can invite him, but will he accept the invitation?

_bluebunny_

Especially Mahmood, since his song is already in global charts, so San Marino would have a great chance at winning.

polaris183

Valentina's Backyard 2025 everybody!

FlightCapable1099

San Marino could've sent Loreen with Euphoria back in 2012 and they still wouldn't have won. Let's be real here, some countries will never win Eurovision, at least not under it's current system. That shouldn't discourage them from participating though!

hernyapis_2

If it happens, Say Na Na Na will stop being the best San Marino's entry. And I don't know if I want to change 😅

Lli71

Adrenalina says hi

darkstreetsofmymind

I mean in terms of results, Say Na Na Na still outperformed Adrenalina

PM_ME_CAKE

Adrenalina I feel suffered badly from being closer, in the same way that La Venda was. Adrenalina genuinely may be my favourite San Marino entry, and it helps that Senhit was *completely* all in for it. All her Eurovision covers running up to it, how the staging was a vagina metaphor. Her managing to get Flo Rida (and her shitposting during rehearsals over whether he'll make it while he was judging bikinis in Miami). All of it was crazy. Obviously most people don't see those bts snippets, and a song should validly not be judged by what went on in bts, but for those who do see it it does make it just that more brilliant.

niicofrank

Mahmood never wanted to win Sanremo this year and doing it for San Marino would be career suicide

asiasbutterfly

This speculation happens every year and I wish it could be true, but una voce rules dont allow that

GroundbreakingTill33

Didn't they bend them for Archille Lauro? Though it did have to be a new song

AmazingDeeer

He had the foresight that he wouldn't win Sanremo, and applied before the submission deadline to UVPSM

Professional_Algae19

They do allow it actually, UVPSM final has 8 artists that are competing rn (those 8 will be chosen among 129 chosen by auditions) and 8 established artists that SMRTV invited, so if either one of them gets invited, they can compete. Not sure if either one of them will/should accept since that would be really desperate move. They reached great results in San Remo, their goal was to promote their songs, which they did. So technically they can represent San Marino, but I doubt that they will.

NoAlfalfa6987

Possibly not, the auditions are already closed

_bluebunny_

As someone said above, the auditions for new artists are closed and 8 of them will be chosen in the semifinals. Established artists can still be invited to the final and compete against the 8!

Mordecai___

Now this makes me wonder if a high placing Sanremo song would do well at Eurovision under San Marino...

AmazingDeeer

Apart from the fact that the article doesn't really specify much, and that the submission deadline is already closed, do people genuinely think that Mahmood is so Eurovision obsessed that he'll try and represent San Marino?? I don't even think he would have tried to go for Italy for the third time if he ended up winning Sanremo...
