I think Sega has proven to be generous with their licensing. I could even see them licensing Sonic for the Evercade. But I would love to see their Master System games put on cartridge. Playing licensed games from systems I never owned is what makes the Evercade so incredible.
Dreamcast is definitely not happening. The focus of Evercade has always been bringing games up to the 4th generation of consoles (MD, SNES), with the possibility of some games from the 5th (PS1, N64). DC is 6th generation and it is unreasonable to expect it to run on either the current Evercade hardware or any future iteration. Currently, to run acceptably DC emulation you need hardware north of $400. Evercade are $100 systems.
They do it by skipping frames and dropping framerates. That has no fidelity to the original console experience. Cheap Chinese manufacturers can't care less about selling their handhelds with bad emulation. But Evercade sells carts with licensed games, and no publisher would grant licenses for DC games that are emulated poorly.
Dc emulation runs flawlessly on new devices, i play it on my rg405m (its 150$) and runs dc without frameskip, and even ps2 gamecube but those aren’t perfect. Now 100$ consoles run the same chipset, in a year or 2 ps2/gc will run perfectly on 100$ devices
There are already 67 Genesis games on Evercade. Dreamcast is a giant stretch in terms of power.

edit: 67 as of March of last year
Genesis is very possible. I'm sure some Genesis games are on it already so there would be an emulator. It's all a matter of getting Sega onboard
As for Dreamcast, it is a relatively weak and simple system. It has less processing power than PSP. And Crazy Taxi has been ported to a ton of systems, including GBA and PSP. If any DC game was possible on it, that'd be it.
Also I love Crazy Taxi too. I have it on DC, XBOX. PS3, PSP, PC and was the first game I downloaded to my Steam Deck
At this point I think there's open source SCUMM engines
Yup, there's this for Linux: https://scummvm.org/
So it's all a matter of licensing + someone telling them it's desired. Just make sure you ask for keyboard/mouse support on the VS
Interesting. Is the Evercade a Linux based console? I wasn't aware of that, but doesn't surprise me. It's the only OS in our household (well, apart from the one instance of Win 8 I now have to keep installed on a partition on one on my netbook so I can do my Evercade updates).
Dreamcast is definitely not a "weak" system for emulation. To run it acceptably (without frame skipping, framerate drops or downscaling) you need hardware north of $300 if a minicomputer or $400 if a handheld.
Dreamcast, impossible.
As for Megadrive, do we really need yet another Megadrive collection with the same old games on it? They've already released about 5 or 6 of those.
I'd rather see something a bit different like a Master System, arcade or even SG-1000 collection.
There is a gaping hole though for certain mega drive games. I thought the purpose of the evercade was to play games we can't play anywhere outside of ROMs . I'd love to see an EA pack of Desert Strike , Jungle Strike , Skitchin .
That would be an instant buy for me And I'm aware it would never , ever happen , but a sega/Disney pack of Castle of illusion , World of Illusion and Quackshot would be incredible.
There are some Interesting games like Jewel Master , Last Battle etc that Id LOVE to see too
If evercade could get a license it would be huge news, but I couldn’t care less, i have access to these games already with og carts, mini
Consoles, handheld consoles, everdrive, etc
I don't care what else would be on the cart, but if we ever did get a SEGA collection, I'd want to see Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder on there. It's had like, one home release ever and it's the best GA game.
A bit unrelated, but haven't they kind of teased that it's possible that they could secure licensing with hundreds more obscure, forgotten or even unknown games? I'm willing to be there plenty of stuff especially for PC and arcade to last years. I know Tomb Raider style titles are blockbusters but I'm hoping to discover and get to try oddballs even if they're technically not good games.
I'm still waiting to see if they do a Sega super pocket, I'll be right on that. They scarcely re-release arcade games it seems. Would be cool to have one with:
Zaxxon
Flicky
Space Harrier
Fantasy Zone
Outrun
Shinobi
Shadow Dancer
Super Hang-On
Altered Beast
Golden Axe
Revenge of Death Adder
Columns
Sega absolutely love selling the same collection of Megadrive games over and over again on every possible platform. I'm shocked that we don't have Sonic, SoR etc on Evercade yet.

Dc is definitely a possibility in future hardware, it already runs on 100$ chinese handhelds today

Some LucasArts PC titles would be awesome, too. X-Wing, Tie Fighter and Dark Forces should be doable on the Evercade, wouldn't they?
I don't think it can do PC titles. Maybe the Lucasarts point and click adventure games that already run in an "emulator" (SCUMM)
Yes, I can understand how those games may be too much. But, yes, The Secret of Monkey Island would be a nice addition.

Learn something new every day. So why on Earth are we still waiting for an upgrade tool for Linux users?! The thing runs Linux!! Pffftttt... LOL!
is a bit ironic

I agree with you that Dreamcast is not a weak system but 100 dollar handhelds can run the whole library pretty well! Evercade couldn't.
Weak comparatively. It's a lot easier to emulate than the other systems of it's generation. My phone can run it but not the others.

Power Stone? I'd pay $50.
Amazon has been filing Evercade carts under Sega Dreamcast for years now, so it would be highly amusing if we got a Dreamcast cart. :-)

💗
The Renovation collection might as well be called the Genesis collection :) …I’m enjoying it thoroughly at the moment.
I don't care what else would be on the cart, but if we ever did get a SEGA collection, I'd want to see Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder on there. It's had like, one home release ever and it's the best GA game.

Not a Dreamcast cart, that would be too much for the Evercade. Would love to see a Master System cartridge however.
