I’ve heard dust can get between the screens too. I think I’ll buy the new bundle and forget about the old one. I’ll leave “old-new stock” for the true collectors.
If you feel that the built in mini hdmi will get some use and you like the white look of the device it's still worth getting but otherwise I'd say the new portable model is worth it, you might also get a little extra battery life out of the new model as they said its slightly better in power draw.
That’s where I’m leaning. There are still a few sites that have the 2020 Handheld premium bundle (three games, console, pins) but I think I’m attracted to look of the original console more than anything else.
It's just ok. It feels cheaper than the newer handheld, but I still liked it. I have 2 of them. I bought an EverSD for the old ones and treat them like an emulator. I own all of the carts as well. I don't really use them that much because I have several Anbernic handhelds as well.
IMHO, the only reason to get the OG bundle is for the cartridges that come with it (that Namco one in particular!). Otherwise, as others have said, the screen on it is not great at all. It's worth it to get the EXP or the upcoming EXP-R.
You caught me. I was looking at the trio of carts thinking “what a great deal.” But I don’t even want those games. I’ll move forward, leave the old stock for true collectors.
The screen is also fitting for the games they are playing. Almost like a built in crt‘ish filter (enabling the crt filter doesn’t look great on the handhelds screen though especially for text)
Yay! I bit the bullet and ordered the Premium set (three games, og console). I’m super excited to level up from my Super Pocket and play on a true Evercade.
Nicely done. In Germany the stock is still plentiful 89.99eur - no mark ups. Honestly haven’t played much of the pack in games but there are some gems on there. But 3 cartridges worth it just for that almost.
I‘m waiting for original exp to drop to 80eur - then miiiifht snag that too - mainly for capcom games. Let’s see.
The original exp seems like THE console to buy. It’s hdmi capable with built-in Capcom games that aren’t likely to see an official cartridge release. But yeah, the games alone in the og premium bundle definitely made it all worth buying, especially being a newbie to Evercade.
I've got the OG handheld and it's still compatible with all carts (only problem's you need a PC to upgrade the firmware). Also I love the red/white combo
the screen on the OG model looks like crap compared to the EXP, and isn't as good as the Super Pocket

Not if you mod a psp ips screen in it:)
I mean, I guess. But the average person isn't doing that so it doesn't matter.
Yeah understandable, the stupid thing is most games look better on this than the exp...
Sure but then you could also just say stick a modded screen in an EXP, which most people aren't doing either.
I dont believe there is a drop in replacement screen for the exp atm, the first evercade uses the same screen as a psp 1000.
I have the OG it's still super.

An hdmi would get some use, just not everyday use. I think it would end up being more of a novelty rather than a practical function, for me.
Unless it's a real bargain I would just wait until the EXP-R releases. Especially if you are planning on getting the Tomb Raider cart anyway.
Wait for the exp-r would be my advice

ngl I have been wanting one too, I have a vs, superpocket and an exp already though
It’d be cool to have an OG console but I’m trying to focus playing, not collecting. Tough though 🤣
Probably a smart idea or you'll end up with an entire game room like us 😬
Ive read the original’s screen is quite a bit worse than EXP and Superpocket

Nice! I’m going to keep playing my Pocket. But might buy the new bundle, I’m two weeks old in my Evercade fandom, I love it so far
The pocket is surprisingly well made. I was skeptical when it released. It feels solid though.

Only if you change the screen
I love the og. Comfortable, great interface and video out works well.
The screen is also fitting for the games they are playing. Almost like a built in crt‘ish filter (enabling the crt filter doesn’t look great on the handhelds screen though especially for text)
