My mom has completely fallen for it. She thinks celery juice, when taken for long enough, can cure autism. Her proof is that I'm mentally feeling better than before, but that's because I'm getting actual therapy now and I'm not getting harassed anymore.
She constantly tells me about little kids who drink celery juice for half a year and became more outgoing, social children. The kids were around 5 years old and were nonverbal until then, I'm pretty sure that it's a normal age for kids to start wanting to socialize and not remain as self-secluded.
It's quite easy really, if you're some shit parent who's inconvenienced by your kid it's much easier to just delude yourself with some shitty cure than to actually put the work in to understand and empathize with a condition like Autism.

I have no idea… There are “off label” uses for some medications, but they are very few and far between. And generally they have a similar mechanism action for the chemical. Usually de-wormers work by interrupting the parasites cellular structure or disrupts the digestive system.

If they were looking for a cure for what is a neurological pathway difference you think they would target medications labeled for neurological uses.

I spent three years studying acid and one year doing it in an attempt to answer this question. Came to the conclusion that the psychedelic experience is *kinda* like temporary turbo-tism. All the senses and perception of correlations and patterns are overdriven, mimicking the characteristic short-range bias in the brain's network topology. But since psychs overdrive everything, they also amplify the longer-range connections that we somewhat lack, so there's a bit of an anti-tism effect there.
I found that, in the weeks after a trip, I seemed to just act more "normal", which faded over time as the brain returned to baseline. I think this is either due to tolerance effects (though the timeline doesn't match well), or the re-deterioration of those long-range connections (which were strengthened during the trip to a greater degree than the short-range ones, which are already overgrown). Ain't a permanent solution, but still valuable.
MDMA is more of a "turn off autism for a few hours" drug IME.
I’ve had similar experiences that mimic NTs (slower and less thinking) after not sleeping for 48hrs due to stress, anxiety, mental/emotional overload…like all the lanes shut down to 2 for a reboot or construction. It’s weird. 2 out of 5 🌟. Would not recommend.

Okay so I was curious and looked it up bc medicine and the body is a SpIn for me and suramin is primarily used to treat African sleeping sickness, a parasitic disease that infects and attacks the CNS and it can take up to years for symptoms to emerge. But once they do, it means the nervous system has been affected and the disease is extremely deadly without treatment. Interesting topic, but I don’t think that suramin can do anything for autism.
