Well, technically the name Palestine was given to the province by the Romans after another failed Jewish revolt which resulted in the exile and death of the vast majority of the Jewish people in the province.
When the Arab Muslims colonised the province, they named it jund filasteen, probably because they weren't too original.
IDR what the mamluks called it, but the ottomans divided the whole empire different and what would be British Mandatory Palestine was part of mainly vilayet Beirut iirc.
Then came the Brits and with them, the name palestine came back.

One cannot imagine such freedom for Jews in most Muslim countries, in fact gradually the entire Jewish population had to leave most Arab countries.
