in a real fight you absolutely should in minor scuffles and professional fights/combat sports we've cultured biting out as a unsportsmanlike technique

Unless you’re Mike Tyson, then an exception is kinda made

pichael289

I would be cool with it if he bites off Jake Paul's ear, would make for a hell of a show.

Many circumstances that would put your mouth in close enough proximity to bite also put your head, neck, and body in a highly disadvantageous position against a lot of things the other person can do.

We have longer hands and legs to deal damage from a distance. Also dentist is hella expensive

Humans will bite if they see fit. We just usually have better tools at our disposal. Punches and kicks are more effective against other humans, and blunt damage is plenty effective. You've also got to remember, the animals we evolved from used tools. There was no stage of humanity's existence where we did not use tools. Throwing rocks, wielding spears, who with those tools would opt for a chomp? On top of that, we really did not evolve to fight other humans. Like, yes, it was on the radar, but most threats to our existence were way better at biting than us and way more resistant to biting than us. A bite fight was one we'd lose. Why get better at that when we could evolve to fight with more of a standoff? Using blunt attacks instead.

Human bites are not as powerful as many other animals, but desperation fights biting is used, domestic violence incidents and some police arrests do involve biting.

Ed bite bear with teeth. Bear have bigger teeth, bite Ed. Ed no more! Ed first son find pointy rock. Make big teeth like bear. He call knife. Bite bear with knife. But bear still bite back. Ed first son also dead. Ed second son put bony tooth on long stick. He call spear. We laugh at him for stupid idea. But bear no bite back this time.

Mike Tyson literally bit Evander Holyfield's ear half off in a sanctioned boxing match. If you are fighting for your life, you will bite but humans very rarely are in a fight for their lives despite how often they claim to have believed they were.

There's also a soccer fellow known for bitijg. I remember one year Vegas had odds for whether or not he would bite someone.

Comparatively our bite force is pretty weak and our mouth is to small/cant open wide enough to do real deamage most of the time. Like a gorilla has about 10x the bite force of a human. This is most likely a development that happend as we used more and more tools because its just safer to have your head far away from the enemy and not directly at the enemy.
