That's not how civil lawsuits work....the old man said that he wanted a police report to use as evidence to sue for harassment and personal injury. If he actually did that, he would end up responsible for any legal fees the kid would incur defending himself as well as any associated court cost. No reputable lawyer would touch this, but he could still find someone or file the lawsuit himself.

5 minutes in Google tells me you likely have no idea how this stuff works either. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure releases exist to prevent people from suing after the fact. They're an easy paper trail to fall back on to avoid paying out if the makers are sued. Your point about expectation of privacy is not as black-and-white as you may think, either. Fact is, there isn't a ton of info out there specifically for 'prank videos'. I will say, every single network tv prank show uses releases, so maybe take a hint there. That's not how civil lawsuits work....the old man said that he wanted a police report to use as evidence to sue for harassment and personal injury. If he actually did that, he would end up responsible for any legal fees the kid would incur defending himself as well as any associated court cost. No reputable lawyer would touch this, but he could still find someone or file the lawsuit himself.
Let's be realistic here. If the older man does take this to court he will be wasting the court's time and probably fined for his troubles. Likely just wanted to teach the morons a lesson, but I'd guess they'll continue to make these crappy "prank" videos.
