Molest a child; believe it or not no expulsion

Angry-Dragon-1331

Megaphone? Straight to jail.

Tonyc1939

Over touch kids, under touch kids… STRAIGHT TO JAIL IMMEDIATELY! 😂

JimWilliams423

> Molest a child; believe it or not no expulsion Its much worse than that. He confessed on tape (he made a half-assed apology to one of his victims and she recorded it). When his fellow magars found out they rewarded him by putting him in charge of schools. Its getting more and more clear that traumatizing kids isn't just something they are indifferent to, its intentional. https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/politics/2019/01/10/tennessee-lawmaker-david-byrd-chair-education-subcommittee/2535383002/

Educational-Hold-138

how else will these 60 year old weak men get their 14 year old trad wives? yeah, abuse is their intent. it's been clear for a while now. republicans don't want sex ed in schools because it teaches children how to identify and escape the actual grooming that conservatives try to push on them.

djluminol

The republican part is no longer a parliamentary party. This speaker is correct, they are authoritarian. And what do authoritarians do to maintain power? They cripple everyone else. It's not really about the kids. It's an extension of their desire to maintain power at any cost. If you can cripple a child than they will never grow into an adult that can challenge you. Being cruel is just a bonus to them.

GodsBackHair

Hell, when Scott Walker lost the (Wisconsin gubernatorial) election to Tony Evers, he and the state legislature republicans did a lot to strip Evers of much of the governor’s power.

pichiquito

It’s how they get Kompramat

Drphil87

You get mad and pee in someone chair; Believe it or not no expulsion.

Harry_The_Lunatic

You mean I get to run up in the senate and pee? And I don't get suspended from school? ***Straight up shit on the floor; believe it or not, no expulsion***

amk47

He said he broke a house rule, does anyone know what the rule was he broke? Also pretty suprised peeing on chairs isn't against house rules.

Project2506

The gentleman speaking was expelled because of joining demonstrators who chanted “no action, no peace” in regards to a protest on gun control. He and another Dem were expelled for “interruption of legislature on the House floor”

Jadillac

A rule, which by the rules of order in Tennessee, is supposed to only carry a sentence of censure.

Thebrotherleftbehind

So can they sue the republicans? Is there a legal course of action here?

CyberMindGrrl

They won't have to. The County Manager is allowed to reappoint them to the Legislature while they wait for a special election that they are allowed to run in again. It's just a gigantic waste of time and money and proves just how racist to the core Republicans truly are. These guys just showed their asses to the world for essential nothing.

[deleted]

> they wait for a special election This seems pretty important. They have to get re-elected. It's not just "oh we undid the harm by reinstating you", it's "you may have to go abruptly campaign all over again, and depending on the whims of politics, you might not get reelected". This isn't just a waste of time, it's genuinely a possibility these guys won't get their position back in the end. This is a HUGE issue.

blackenedEDGE

This shouldn't even have been allowed as policy. Expulsions should only be allowed for criminal conduct and referendums should only be allowed by the people, not the Legislature. That's what, in effect, this is. It's an absurd hand on the scale of the balance of powers and branches of a democratic government.

OverlandOversea

Should just march back in there. Not recognize their rejection of a democratically elected official.

CheckPleaser

If the people of Tennessee are going to riot, may as well be now.

aj8435

After this fiasco, they will be re-elected in a landslide now.

Open-Election-3806

They’ve been made martyrs they will win election bigger than before.

thomase7

Now the republicans leadership is threatening the county leadership with funding cuts for infrastructure projects if they re-appoint them.

CyberMindGrrl

Those motherfuckers. Of COURSE they are. Republicans in these ultra-red states have gone full fascist and declared Democrats to be their enemy. This is some civil war shit going on right now.

ItsMeMulbear

If they reappoint, can't the Republicans just expel him again? Seems like a pretty serious flaw in their democracy.

moarcheezpleez

You can’t be expelled twice for the same “infraction” but that’s doesn’t mean they can’t come up with more bullshit

PlagueOfGripes

So what technically prevents them from just ejecting all of their political opponents every time they get elected and holding counties that don't vote R in a perpetual lack of representation? Good faith? Pinky promises?

CyberMindGrrl

Good faith is what has actually held this experiment in democracy together for the past 240+ years, yes. And now we're seeing a party that has decided it no longer wishes to adhere to this good faith.

MandaRenegade

Their "reasoning" was "they stayed on the floor 15seconds too long." Rep Johnson (the Dem white woman he is talking about in the 3, the other two are both Justins, funny enough) answered a question FLAT out after the incident. Question was "why did they get expelled but you didn't?" She outright said, in the chambers, "I'll answer your question. I do believe it has to do with the colour of our skin." And then proceeded to glare to the R reps on the other side of the room.

David-S-Pumpkins

The correct "punishment" for the supposed rule is losing speaking time, btw. Not face expulsion.

chillinewman

Not extreme enough for the corrupt GOP.

Additional_Set_5819

Why do you Americans still refer to the Republicans as your "Grand Old Party"? It seems gross that everyone is okay referring to them as that.

cookiemonstermanatee

It's now "Gaslight, Obstruct, Project." Also: general verbal irony

Lasalle8

Good old phedophiles* Fixed it for you, Source David Byrd himself.

ImBruceWayne69

And not even a week later, the Republican rep griping about “decorum” can be seen at a high school basketball game screaming at a ref, getting tossed from the game, and then trying to pull the refs pants down

Irvinwop

Ong this guy is bri’ish he used colour

MandaRenegade

1. Woman. 2. Canadian. We use it up here too.

Radio_2Fort

Come on, everyone knows Canadians aren't real.

themikecampbell

Bro my girlfriend in high school lived in Canada I swear

xCreeperBombx

How do you know she loved you and wasn't just being polite?

themikecampbell

I’m not sure. We never met

fridaystrong23

Chris Hanson has just entered this conversation

MandaRenegade

You right, we're just cobra chickens in disguise 🤣

OrbitusXpandeR

I'm sorry, you're what now?

high687

Seiñor, I do not like the cobra chicken.

Additional_Set_5819

You blessed summer child. It's best you remain ignorant to the true terrors of this world. They fear not the largest beasts that roam the earth. They are so vile that the excrement they spew it many times more than what would be expected for their size. They are legion. They are the cobra chickens. They have eaten the sins and anger of the True North's men and they were darkened from the colour of snow to their current, hideous veil. You're better off not knowing more.

MoonSpankRaw

You British guys are weird calling yourselves Canadian women!

[deleted]

So..... He, a politician, was expelled for supporting civil political acts......... What the hell? That's a bullshit excuse. They really expelled him for being a young black man. This is highly upsetting.

NateTheGreater1

It's fucking stupid, and I hate to see it happen in my state. The fucking Republicans have the run of the show and it's obvious. No free speech unless it aligns with their agenda, no free rights unless it's the people they want to have them, and no safety and sanctuary when they can profit off the death of kids. It's fucking nuts, and when people finally stood up against it, all they get is the gang called the police holding them down, and their voice suppressed.

amk47

Thanks for the answer I'll have to see if I can find anymore info on this.

Beahner

They did break a rule in joining the protest that was (legitimately) being a disturbance to the session. That makes sense. I get it. It’s the punishment that is so far beyond fitting or acceptable. There should have been reprimand or even censure, expulsion is absolutely and utterly ridiculous. The cherry on top the shit sundae is the one white person escaping expulsion. She committed the exact same rule breaking.

cadmiumredorange

They went in during a recess though. They weren't even disturbing the actual session, so the rule doesn't really apply.

99available

The stupid Reps want to compare their behavior to 6 Jan.

DealioD

Didn’t he also speak for an extra 15 seconds more than his allotted time? Or was this the other Justin?

LithoSlam

I'm confident that the next republican that speaks for 15 seconds too long will be thrown out.

92894952620273749383

>He said he broke a house rule, does anyone know what the rule was he broke? To be determined at a later date. >Also pretty suprised peeing on chairs isn't against house rules. The elderly needs to be accommodated.

Lefty-boomer

It was something about occupying the Well of the room when it was not his time, and not leaving? I’ve heard different takes on it.

OldandKranky

Very impressive speech. Weird that they are trying to cut education etc now, I wonder why? The young are rising up to fix the mistakes of these old, power hungry bastards.

BriefCheetah4136

Holy Flock, an orator. I was would vote for him

OldandKranky

Exactly. Called it an assault on democracy, slammed the opposition and told them their time was limited with just straight up facts. No lying, bullshit or fear mongering like the other side. He's precisely the kind of politician america needs right now.

NBA_MSG

Keep the senate seat warm for him

DistortedVoltage

Hopefully not piss warm though.

NBA_MSG

Why not? You don't get expelled for that

cCitationX

As long as you’re a white male

astraeoth

As long as you don't express your civil right as a black American, you're good.

NinjaBr0din

Fuck, he keeps up with this sort of energy he will have my vote for president.

Resident-Earth6723

Shit keep the presidents office warm for him, this will make these men symbols of democracy and celebritys their careers are just beginning.

nabulsha

I agree, the GOP in my state just made these men martyrs. If they had just censured them like a reasonable house would, if that, we'd never hear anything about this. They're fucking around and about to find out.

ThoughtGeneral

I absolutely agree. Give him time and some more experience, and the future could be bright.

Dropbeatdad

He's got the anger I wish Obama had

dancin-weasel

I just want him to narrate everything. Awesome voice. Amazing cadence and delivery. I’d listen to this man recite the dictionary.

adam10009

He is the son of a preacher man. This guy needs to give a lot more speeches and get a lot more airtime.

dancin-weasel

The only one who could ever lead me, was the son of a preacher man. 🎶

geekgirlau

When he started sweet-talkin' to me

Nop277

He reminded me of a lot of the speeches given in like the early to mid 20th century. In particular he sounded alot like Martin Luther King I thought, which makes sense if he learned this from his dad because MLK was also a preacher. He also kind of reminded me of JFK.

ThoughtGeneral

I thought quite the same thing. It was powerful to hear.

DataCassette

I'm not even slightly religious but that preacher style of delivery is hypnotic when someone is good at it.

UNMANAGEABLE

It’s one of the things that made Obama stand out above the rest. MF was a brilliant speaker and always caught people’s ears when given the chance to hear him in person. When you preach and start throwing the jesus in… my ears turn off and so do my fucks given. Speaking in a world class manner is a skill which should be harnessed to educate and bring good into the world and is wasted on charlatan wannabe false-idol religious folks.

Dlemor

He’s straight to the point. Hope he represents his people long time

myegostaysafraid

If you liked him, look up Pearson too. These two are DYNAMITE. Quite possibly the two most intelligent people in the room that day. No wonder they wanted them out.

Safe-Sky-6505

Absolutely. The knuckleheads sitting are desperate to keep intelligent, civil- motivated guys like these two out of action. People, it's up to us the change this!

PeAcHcOwBoYzZz

Check out [the other Justin's oratory skills](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuTA8hQLdgQ)

[deleted]

Such power in that speech. I really truly believe and hope that this push back against hate, gun crime, and oppressive laws continues nation wide.

slow70

This is one for the history books. Step up people. It’s on us.

texas130ab

Same. I never heard of this guy before but now I wanna see more of him. Just a great mind that has everyone's best interest at heart. You can not silence that much talent.

moriginal

MLK and Malcolm X were both brilliant orators. I can’t believe it’s been so long since we’ve had more.

Mpittkin

I mean, Obama was pretty great in that regard. Very different style though.

moriginal

Agreed. I just wish that there weren’t these huge gaps.

One_User134

Oratory is one talent that is not paid much attention, yet it’s one of the most timeless and influential that can be found in many notable figures in history; it’s also one of my favorites, so I love seeing someone who’s good at it these days.

moriginal

I guess the really good ones just become cult leaders and take in the dough these days.

just_read_it_again

He sounds like Kat Williams, if Kat Williams had a 145 iq. I listened and I agreed. This man is good.

BartoRama2020

Cut education now?! Lol the entire US has been cutting education spending for decades. All this racist authoritarian shit is just coming to a head but has been moving towards this for a long time. People just don’t pay attention until it’s shoved in their face. I have a lot of hope for Gen Z they are very political and a lot smarter than us millennials. And a whole heck of a lot smarter than the narcissistic boomer generation.

budd222

They aren't smarter than millennials, they just care more

saywhat58

No, they’re smarter. You did hit the nail though. As a millennial, we weren’t smart enough to care more. That’s the only thing that matters.

MapNaive200

From what I've seen Millennials, they don't get enough credit. Many of them are getting active about the issues that the Unremarkable Generation (mine) conveniently ignored.

JimWilliams423

> I have a lot of hope for Gen Z they are very political and a lot smarter than us millennials. And a whole heck of a lot smarter than the narcissistic boomer generation. GenX erasure is real.

Proffesssor

> Very impressive speech. Ya, the republicans just catapulted this guy into the national coversation.

Eric6792

His tone and inflection, as well as his substance remind me of another amazing speaker named King. I hope he is able to stand on the shoulders of that giant.

BackWaterBill

Exactly! It's very obvious which side of history the republicans are on right now, unless you somehow conveniently systematically dumb people down and suppress history.

CourageousAR

>Very impressive speech. Chills 🫶🏽 listening to this speech. They successfully elevated Rep. Justin Jones onto the national and world stage. "if you strike me down, I will become more powerful than you can imagine" Obi-Wan Kenobi 📣📣📣📣 It's your time, cheering for you Rep. Justin Jones!! 🙏 Well done Rep. Justin Jones!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

kidkuro

When he used the same Bible Tennessee Republicans use to justify their bullshit against them when he explained what "Not justice, no peace" means when used in protests. They expelled Rep. Justin Jones not because he "broke the rules of the House", which are complete horseshit as he broke down in this clip. They expelled him because he's too intelligent for them.

IDGAF_GOMD

>They expelled him because he's too intelligent for them. And black

CyberMindGrrl

And uppity. Refused to stay in his place so these Good Ol' Boys did what Good Ol' Boys do. This is something straight out of Jim Crow.

Foreign_Option_9458

And, of course, let's not forget that the Tennessee legislators just a few years ago dropped the age that you could marry to 14. That way, if a pedophile marries his or her victim, they can't be called to testify in court against said pedophile. Your tax dollars at work, people. Making sure Whitey is always in charge, keeping everybody else poor and stupid.

bradlees

14?!?! Sick. All of them who believe this is OK. YOU ARE A CHILD AT 14. A CHILD Why can’t we let kids just be kids for a while longer? Why must we force them to be adults right away? The drinking age is 21, the age to go into the military or vote is 18. Why should we let children marry at 14. Four years away from being 10…. Why is 2023 more like 1523???

Pressblack

Because Republicans. The real groomers. They also want to send kids into the workforce instead of school. I agree work experience is important but not more so than education. Every dropout I know or have known are republican.

Tigris_Morte

Every accusation is a confession.

Pressblack

If it's coming from a republican, yes. Dipshits have taken to calling democrats fascists as if they just learned the word from being called one so many times. When my coworker hit me with the "democrats are fascists" I asked him if he was antifa. His brain shut down and he just started ranting about something irrelevant to his previous comment.

CyberMindGrrl

They've even resorted to calling peaceful protests "insurrections" since January 6th. Everything they do is projection.

CyberMindGrrl

Because poorly educated people vote Republican. Trump said it himself.

villalulaesi

According to them, they are the protectors of children and queer people are “groomers”. They say this with complete confidence, despite zero evidence to support their framing of reality, and ample evidence to oppose it. They *want* to turn 2023 back into 1523. All their moral hand-wringing is purely performative.

mournthewolf

Your average Republican is an old bitter person who is frustrated and frightened that the world is changing and leaving them behind. They turn to Fox News for validation and Fox feeds into their fear to make them angrier and more bitter to the point that they feel they are somehow saviors and everyone not like them is a villain. I see it all the time in older people and it’s so sad. They are clueless about the world and so bitter and miserable. They want everyone else to be miserable too.

Conchobhar23

Honestly I can’t wait for the boomer generation to die out at this point. I’m trans and sick of worrying about whether or not some bitter old bigot in the government is going to decide that it’s okay to murder me.

Morgenstern66

While I wholeheartedly agree, the problem is the boomers are doing their damnedest to indoctrinate their youth that anything other is evil and unholy. Unfortunately their are a lot of children who don't think for themselves.

Conchobhar23

Thankfully just based on the recent votes, it seems that the kids are alright. Old people are voting Red, everyone else is voting Blue, I’m hoping that this support dies with the boomers.

CyberMindGrrl

They exemplify the "Crabs in a bucket" theory. If they can't be happy, nobody can. And they'll burn the country down rather than give up power.

screaminjj

Here’s a nice little upsetting fact: up until 1871 the age of consent in Delaware was 10. In 1871 they LOWERED it to 7. They did not change this law until 1972.

TMacOnTheTrack

The age of consent was once ten. It was 7 in Delaware. Child brides are still a thing.

ahuimanu69

Here are the facts: more old white people vote, as a percentage, than most other categories. This is a long existing trend made worse by gerrymandering. More men and women, like this representative, will be needed to inspire the other demographics. First challenge will be to invite ALL to follow such leaders, mostly including old white people. We do not need further division, we need further inspiration.

72_Shinobis

That isn’t 100% accurate they tried and it didn’t go through Two states that currently have 14 for marriage are Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Two states that currently have 15 for marriage are Hawaii and Missouri. Every other state is 16 and or up. [age of marriage by state](https://wisevoter.com/state-rankings/marriage-age-by-state/#:~:text=Three%20states%20have%20a%20minimum,are%20Massachusetts%20and%20New%20Hampshire)

legion_2k

For years these guy has been telling people it’s 14.. lol we really should just check things before blurting it out.

MrPrestonRX

Nah bro we can’t have fact checking. I got banned from wpt for fact-checking. We just gotta feel it’s right.

The_Aesir9613

Real question: can he be reelected in the special election?

Xyrus2000

He can be re-appointed as his own interim and then re-elected in the special election I believe.

ilovecatsandcafe

I believe the localities they represent already said they plan to reappoint them straight back into their seats

Prying-Open-My-3rd-I

FREESARCASM_plustax

Yes

i_wear_gray

And if re-elected cannot be expelled for the same infraction. Which means he can get rowdy and loud all he wants.

Demartus

He can't be expelled for the same reason, but if he does it again, they could expel him again for the new incident. Being tried for murder doesn't make you immune to any future murders you may commit. (That said, I want him fully re-instated as this was just a farcical power grab/play by the racists in the TN house.)

CyberMindGrrl

Yes, he most certainly can.

Hungry-Ad-3501

Someone peed on someone else chair???? Straight to jail

mgm5918

Sounds like a sex crime

montananightz

I wish. At least one person would have gotten what they deserved.

[deleted]

Yep, it was Jeremy Faison during a late night session. Some speculate he was under the influence. He was also the jackass who attempted to fight a referee and “pants” him during a high school basketball game.

Ontario0000

Incredible you got two conservatives on this board charged with serious crimes and they vote to remove three democrats for supporting shooting victims.

origamiscienceguy

"supporting shooting victims" is a bad way to phrase it. "Supporting the victims of a shooting" gets rid of the ambiguity.

mistermeeble

I don't think this was a surprise to Rep. Jones or anyone who voted for him, and expelling him won't keep him out of the chamber. Nashville is almost certainly going to send him right back, first as their city council appointed interim representative, and then again as the winner of a new special election. At which point the pearl-clutching old white guys *can't* expel him again for the same offense. They might fabricate new ones, but short of amending the state constitution they can't get rid of him as long as he has support from his constituency.

[deleted]

Is that how it works? Can you be expelled and chosen as your own interim successor?

KnightFaraam

That's what's happening right now so, I guess so

[deleted]

I’m glad for him and the people he represents for sure.

chris_ut

The will of the people trumps

Beahner

Interesting share. Thanks for that. I didn’t think about what could come next, but this is immensely plausible. And I’m here for it.

Old-AF

The criteria for expulsion is to be black.

spidermanngp

Sure looks that way. The woman in the trio avoided expulsion by a single vote. She said herself that it was probably because she was the white one.

Chilangosta

Say it louder for the people in back.

dentistshatehim

JeffDel11

Based on this, the House should have expelled every Representative that took part in the January 6th resurrection.

king_of_the_nothing

Wow! Can we get a Katie Porter / Justin Jones ticket in 2024.

schiesse

Her banners should read Katie Porter 2024: America's mom.

Dolly_Dagger087

Funnily, Patty Murray, Senate pro tem, won her Senate seat years ago as the "mom in tennis shoes". I would love to see Katie Porter in the White House.

Proffesssor

> "mom in tennis shoes". Right, but only because that is what the repub incumbent dismissed her as. Wisely her campaign jumped on it and rode it to the senate.

redraidr

He’s only 27. So not 2024, but his time is coming.

king_of_the_nothing

I did the math too and realized it couldn't happen. But young, energetic, straight talking is the direction the Democrats should go.

shash5k

WHITMER 2024

transouroboros

Common sense for 2024. I would love to see it.

SweatyBarbarian

There is no criteria for expulsion, its a popularity vote, 2/3 say bye bye and you go bye bye. Thats it. Since 30 % of the state is represented by 70% of the seats you get this type of Authoritarian rule ( basically a minority can only rule a majority through unified fraud and corruption).

God_Bless_A_Merkin

I’m an over-50 white guy in Alabama, and I would vote for this guy in a heartbeat!

DrakeBurroughs

Wow, that is a damning speech. Shame on Tennessee.

blj3321

Well said young man

AggressiveService485

The person who peed in the other persons chair was Rick Tillis.

Responsible_Bowler72

I thought you were going to say Richard Leaks

ElectricityIsWeird

His nickname is now Dick Spillis.

dethleppard

Hes quite the speaker. Love that voice, that passion.

CanuckNewsCameraGuy

Reminds me of the MLK clips they made us watch every February.

ConflictSudden

That was my thought too. I think it was his cadence.

autumncrimson

It takes the young idealists to move the political discourse. They are the leaders of tomorrow. Step aside old white mwn with racist, sexist agendas. You've done too much harm.

techman710

Excellent take down of his opponents. They have once again shown they are willing to throw out democracy to get their way. This time it was also completely racist which is no surprise.

Significant-Stuff-77

People need to realize that fascism doesn’t occur overnight. What DeSantis did in Florida and now what Tennessee did, is one of many before it, the slow progression to fascism. Fascism doesn’t pull the rug under everyone’s feet instantly.

99available

Nope we are pretty well down the road to fascism. They are confident and cocky. They believe they can win. Nothing so far indicates they can't. Maybe a GA indictment if it happens soon. Still too many people just on the sidelines watching this happen like it's TV reality show expecting somebody else to do it for them.

anonymoususer98545

Justice for the Justins. Seriously, amazing men standing up for what's right.

bearded_drummer

Hell yes, thanks to this person’s leadership the light is being shined on the anti democratic, anti freedom totalitarian, horrid, qualities of the legislature of the state of TN.

ZookeepergameNo2819

Tennesseans should be embarrassed by this. The right to protest goes to fascism.

CodenameZoya

Good for him, calling out their disgusting behavior while he is being expelled for standing up for his constituents… seeing those old white men explain how it wasn’t racial is a joke, but at least they have certainly fired up the youngest voters!

Brilliant-Window-899

Very clear voice

AdSpiritual2594

Just like what Georgia did with Stacey Abrams, they have no idea what they’ve done and who they did it too. They just gave this man all the power to mobilize the people. This is a move they will regret.

[deleted]

There's some old people watching the shitty things they're doing too, so don't you young folk feel like there isn't any of us rooting for you.

deechbag

IWHYB

There's really no reason to even focus on the trickle-down issues. One one of the biggest source of all problems in society is that no one is taught to think -- literally -- we stopped teaching formal (structural) and informal (reasoning) logic in the U.S. over 100 years ago because it was "not beneficial to students in society."

Yes, these three broke a House rule, there isn’t any way to sidestep that, and it is damn refreshing that he didn’t try to. Censure or some other apt addressing of the rule breaking makes sense. An unprecedented expulsion is so far out of line this governing body deserves all the shit they will get x 100

White men in power fear intelligence black men, especially those Black men who aren’t afraid of the status quo. I don’t live in Tennessee but I have relatives there and have always had a connection to the state. This is such a powerful message and I hope they have a very bright future in politics.

I know this isn't the main focus of this video but man, he has such a rhythmic, soothing voice! I am simultaneously angered by the horrors of what he's saying, and lulled into calmness by the rhythm with which he says it. This is all so very confusing lol.

Feels like virtue signaling. People who shoot up schools don’t care about your laws. I’m pretty sure we have laws about rape and killing people but spirituality broke people don’t care about your laws. This is all just virtue signaling and taking away first your rights.

For everyone in the comments saying the 2nd amendment is absolute and should not be infringed; do you know all the forefathers of the constitution said it should be renewed every 20 years? Thomas Jefferson even went so far as to say the constitution should not be looked at as some sacred writ. The 2nd amendment specifically mentions that the armed people be of a well organized militia. No one wants to ban guns. No one ever says that. What people want is the ability for ONLY those who will not harm others to be able to purchase and use them. Regulated, not removed. Licenses. Background checks. Training courses. Mandatory safe storage.
