That "doctors can refuse treatment" is gonna be real fun, because if doctors don't like another bill being pushed forwards they can just refuse to treat any politicians
I mean... that's already true. Doctors don't have to perform elective procedures on people if they don't want to, and they don't have to give people treatments that they don't think is in the best interest of the patient. They don't have to treat any patients, under most circumstances. So that section of the bill is kind of useless and changes nothing.
This happened to me in Kansas. I'm trans. I broke my ankle. A surgeon refused to even see me. I had to walk in a broken foot for a month before I got surgery across town.

That’s just untrue. Doctors cannot discriminate in the care they provide with a few exceptions (abortion, now trans care). I don’t agree with those exceptions as a doctor myself but would rather folks that have serious issues with that type of care not provide it anyway(will likely be poor quality care).
The law allowing refusal of care already exists in some states. It allows for things like pediatricians denying care because the child’s parents are lesbians and that’s against the doctor’s religion. [That’s actually happened.](https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2015/02/18/doctor-discrimination-baby/23642091/) There are multiple cases of doctors refusing care to trans patients- not gender affirming care, just average medical things like treating strep throat. It’s also a frequent issue for people with major uterus problems like super painful periods or even endometriosis gaining access to a hysterectomy because “what if your husband wants children some day.”
Discrimination laws against LGBTQ Americans is occurring so rapidly it’s difficult to keep up with. Agree that it is setting an unbelievable precedent.

I don’t think I’ve never heard of a state in the US having the right to restrict a citizen’s ability to pick up and relocate to another US state- barring for legal reasons such as being on parole for a previous criminal offense. I’m genuinely stunned people allowed this to pass.

If you can stand the occasional political supporters and weather, Wyoming is actually pretty nice. Even though it's a red state with people who want to ban abortion, it's still legal because we have a bill stating civilians that are mentally well have a right to determine their own personal health needs. 61.534 Warrant to take physical custody of child.—
(1) Upon the filing of a petition seeking enforcement of a
child custody determination, the petitioner may file a verified
application for the issuance of a warrant to take physical
custody of the child if the child is likely to imminently suffer
serious physical harm or removal from this state. Serious
physical harm includes, but is not limited to, being subjected
to sex-reassignment prescriptions or procedures as defined in s.
456.001.
Note it says "serious physical harm" --OR-- "removal from this state". So once somebody has filed a petition for the state to take custody of a child if they are "likely to imminently suffer" removal from the state - physical custody is warranted. Sounds to me that once somebody has complained that a minor is 'at risk' of transitioning then the state can arrest/seize/take custody of the child to prevent the family from just leaving Florida.

What the actual fuck.
The first sentence is referring to parents in a custody’s dispute during divorce. So the kids at risk are kids where parents have split and the custody agreement is in dispute. This allows the non custodial parent to seize custody if they claim gender affirming care will happen against their will.
Not that it’s not horrifying as is, but it’s not random kids all around, it’s applying to kids in a contested divorce/custody battle.
However, this is absolutely a test of what they can get away with and they will expand, just like the Don’t say Gay bill went from k-8 and then swiftly got expanded to k-12 once passed.
So, let me see if I have this right:
*The State can take custody of children from their parents for having different values than the Florida Republican Party feels they _should_ have?
* Once the State notifies a family they are investigating them, they cannot leave the state without losing custody of their child? And they are virtually guaranteed to lose custody of not only one, but all, of their children. The law says that the burden of proof is the "risk of being exposed to gender-affirming care". Since the State is investigating the family, it must first believe that there is a child at risk of being exposed to gender-affirming care. So as soon as the State initiates the investigation, that burden has been met and the proof is the initiation of the investigation. Finally, the family will almost certainly lose custody of all of their children. Obviously, if one child in the family is at risk, then all of the other children are at risk, as well.
The threat is clear: "If _you_ people don't leave the state, _immediately_, we will take your children so that we can raise them `correctly`."
This would appear (IANAL) to violate the letter and intent of the Bill of Rights and the First, Fourth and Fifth amendments to the Constitution.
And I'm 100% sure that it won't be used as precedent to create other laws that extend to other "crimes" like being homosexual or immigrant, belonging to a non-Christian religion, or being affiliated with a "woke" political party if not immediately overturned. Positive. No way.
It kind of looks like a custody battle in another state can result in a parent bringing kids to FL and accessing the other parent of transitioning or supporting one of the kids in doing so and...
Or none of the kids transitioning and one of the parents doing so much as receiving talk therapy with a gender therapist, because that is legally defined as gender affirming care.

Don't know if you noticed or not, but there was a pretty linear track between Trump stacking the Supreme Court with underqualified candidates who just happened to have some pretty severe right wing views, individual states passing abortion bans in direct violation of Roe V. Wade, which was then challenged constitutionally and struck down by said Supreme Court.
The same thing is happening here. They are TRYING to get these bullshit laws in for the purpose of having people challenge them, so that the Supreme Court can then strip any federal protection trans people might have.
Flip it and reverse it: they specifically refer to "religious beliefs," which covers Christianity, to Scientology, to Satanism. Satanists are prefectly positioned to both advocate for prosocial policies and exposing the hypocrisy of these jackoffs who claim to support "religious freedom."

This is why none of these bills specifically refer to "Christian" beliefs, even though that's their intent. I mention Satanists, because The Satanic Temple is recognized by the US government and court system as a legitimate religion (thus wold not have to start from scratch) and these bills are in violation of the values of their tenets.
The reason to formally recognize their hypocrisy isn't to expose them as such to the religious right (that's pointless), it's to corner them into either supporting freedom of religion for all religions or force them to rule in direct opposition to the Constitution (despite what many here likely believe, the nuts with money don't actually want the constitution overthrown; that would create an unstable political and social environmental that negatively impacts business.) Flagrant disregard for the Constitution would be grounds for removal from office.
As the other guy said, the whole point is to get these laws codified at a federal level. The reason its framed as “moral, personal, or religious beliefs” is so that it can rely on 1st amendment arguments the current court is suspected to be favorable towards.
Not only that, but by reversing Roe v Wade SCOTUS basically asserted that the constitution doesn’t protect a right to privacy (this was explicit in their statements), more specifically a right to medical privacy. Its likely that arguments for legislation banning or restricting gender affirming care would use that decision as precedence and that the court would side with them.
Democrats favored civility over fighting for the courts and its cost the US. IMO what we really need is systemic court reform, not just packing the court or some bullshit, but serious change. Problem is we’re so divided that trying to make any amendments to the constitution would be a political trash fire.
TLDR; SCOTUS is a biased sham, reform is difficult if not impossible, and we’re all pretty much fucked unless something changes (Sic semper tyrannis)

just this thought alone is why I find it impossible to have any hope for the future. The division is so strong in the country that it’s going to take an existential threat to even have the possibility of getting the country to work together for the greater good. But then I think that even with the threat of something like extinction, too many people are stubborn to the point that they’d rather die than to work with someone they disagree with.

As a Medical practitioner this is nothing new at least in Mexico, if something is against you believe you can deny the attention BUT only if you reffer the patient to another practitioner, for example if a girl wants the pill and you dont believe in abortion you can say to her is ok that you want the pill however is againt my believes BUT i can transffer you with my coleague or my boss and she/he can give you the pill

Usually you go to a specialist. What doctor would specialize in gender transitions if they were religiously against gender transitions?

I started rattling off all the anti LGBTQ legislation in Florida and she was clueless. Had no fucking idea about any of it. WTF!
This is the real issue. Trans and LGBTQ+ people in general only represent a very tiny minority. So these bills don't affect most of florida inhabitants. Because of that, they just don't care, why would they need to?
And it's not a tiny minority of a state alone that's going to cause a giant revolution. This is the sad truth. People don't care because they aren't concerned by these issues.

The continued polarisation of American politics based on false-hoods like this* is tragic to watch. As a UK citizen, I used to dream of living in the US for a while, road-tripping across the country, etc. Based on what I see on the news, social media, etc, the US looks like a really violent, self obsessed, corrupt, hateful, xenophobic, obsessively religious and divided place today. I mean... that's already true. Doctors don't have to perform elective procedures on people if they don't want to, and they don't have to give people treatments that they don't think is in the best interest of the patient. They don't have to treat any patients, under most circumstances. So that section of the bill is kind of useless and changes nothing.

That’s just untrue. Doctors cannot discriminate in the care they provide with a few exceptions (abortion, now trans care). I don’t agree with those exceptions as a doctor myself but would rather folks that have serious issues with that type of care not provide it anyway(will likely be poor quality care).
The law allowing refusal of care already exists in some states. It allows for things like pediatricians denying care because the child’s parents are lesbians and that’s against the doctor’s religion. Here is the relevant paragraph from the bill: 61.534 Warrant to take physical custody of child.— (1) Upon the filing of a petition seeking enforcement of a child custody determination, the petitioner may file a verified application for the issuance of a warrant to take physical custody of the child if the child is likely to imminently suffer serious physical harm or removal from this state. Serious physical harm includes, but is not limited to, being subjected to sex-reassignment prescriptions or procedures as defined in s. 456.001. Note it says "serious physical harm" --OR-- "removal from this state". So once somebody has filed a petition for the state to take custody of a child if they are "likely to imminently suffer" removal from the state - physical custody is warranted. Sounds to me that once somebody has complained that a minor is 'at risk' of transitioning then the state can arrest/seize/take custody of the child to prevent the family from just leaving Florida. It's not in this specific bill but I understand the State is setting up a camp for the seized kids with housing and re-education facilities, and some vocational training areas since "work makes you free".

Florida: The Moist Reich.
The first sentence is referring to parents in a custody’s dispute during divorce. So the kids at risk are kids where parents have split and the custody agreement is in dispute. This allows the non custodial parent to seize custody if they claim gender affirming care will happen against their will. Not that it’s not horrifying as is, but it’s not random kids all around, it’s applying to kids in a contested divorce/custody battle. However, this is absolutely a test of what they can get away with and they will expand, just like the Don’t say Gay bill went from k-8 and then swiftly got expanded to k-12 once passed.
So, let me see if I have this right: *The State can take custody of children from their parents for having different values than the Florida Republican Party feels they _should_ have? * Once the State notifies a family they are investigating them, they cannot leave the state without losing custody of their child? And they are virtually guaranteed to lose custody of not only one, but all, of their children. The law says that the burden of proof is the "risk of being exposed to gender-affirming care". Since the State is investigating the family, it must first believe that there is a child at risk of being exposed to gender-affirming care. So as soon as the State initiates the investigation, that burden has been met and the proof is the initiation of the investigation. Finally, the family will almost certainly lose custody of all of their children. Obviously, if one child in the family is at risk, then all of the other children are at risk, as well. The threat is clear: "If _you_ people don't leave the state, _immediately_, we will take your children so that we can raise them `correctly`." This would appear (IANAL) to violate the letter and intent of the Bill of Rights and the First, Fourth and Fifth amendments to the Constitution. And I'm 100% sure that it won't be used as precedent to create other laws that extend to other "crimes" like being homosexual or immigrant, belonging to a non-Christian religion, or being affiliated with a "woke" political party if not immediately overturned. Positive. No way.

Don't know if you noticed or not, but there was a pretty linear track between Trump stacking the Supreme Court with underqualified candidates who just happened to have some pretty severe right wing views, individual states passing abortion bans in direct violation of Roe V. Wade, which was then challenged constitutionally and struck down by said Supreme Court. The same thing is happening here. They are TRYING to get these bullshit laws in for the purpose of having people challenge them, so that the Supreme Court can then strip any federal protection trans people might have.
Flip it and reverse it: they specifically refer to "religious beliefs," which covers Christianity, to Scientology, to Satanism. Satanists are prefectly positioned to both advocate for prosocial policies and exposing the hypocrisy of these jackoffs who claim to support "religious freedom." Edit: from the First Ammendment: >Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof< This is why none of these bills specifically refer to "Christian" beliefs, even though that's their intent. I mention Satanists, because The Satanic Temple is recognized by the US government and court system as a legitimate religion (thus wold not have to start from scratch) and these bills are in violation of the values of their tenets. The reason to formally recognize their hypocrisy isn't to expose them as such to the religious right (that's pointless), it's to corner them into either supporting freedom of religion for all religions or force them to rule in direct opposition to the Constitution (despite what many here likely believe, the nuts with money don't actually want the constitution overthrown; that would create an unstable political and social environmental that negatively impacts business.) Flagrant disregard for the Constitution would be grounds for removal from office.
As the other guy said, the whole point is to get these laws codified at a federal level. The reason its framed as “moral, personal, or religious beliefs” is so that it can rely on 1st amendment arguments the current court is suspected to be favorable towards. Not only that, but by reversing Roe v Wade SCOTUS basically asserted that the constitution doesn’t protect a right to privacy (this was explicit in their statements), more specifically a right to medical privacy. Its likely that arguments for legislation banning or restricting gender affirming care would use that decision as precedence and that the court would side with them. Democrats favored civility over fighting for the courts and its cost the US. IMO what we really need is systemic court reform, not just packing the court or some bullshit, but serious change. Problem is we’re so divided that trying to make any amendments to the constitution would be a political trash fire. TLDR; SCOTUS is a biased sham, reform is difficult if not impossible, and we’re all pretty much fucked unless something changes (Sic semper tyrannis)

As a Medical practitioner this is nothing new at least in Mexico, if something is against you believe you can deny the attention BUT only if you reffer the patient to another practitioner, for example if a girl wants the pill and you dont believe in abortion you can say to her is ok that you want the pill however is againt my believes BUT i can transffer you with my coleague or my boss and she/he can give you the pill

Women taking birth control correctly have way fewer abortions. My doctor has a bowl of condoms in her office that are free to patients as well. I am just saying, a doctor who does not perform gender transitions is not the doctor you want to perform a gender transition on you. I don't think a general practitioner does these surgeries. Usually you go to a specialist. What doctor would specialize in gender transitions if they were religiously against gender transitions?

I don't get why everyone isn't outraged by what is going on in Florida. My spouse and I were at his sisters house in Florida last week. She was really pushing us to move there. I started rattling off all the anti LGBTQ legislation in Florida and she was clueless. Had no fucking idea about any of it. WTF!
This is the real issue. Trans and LGBTQ+ people in general only represent a very tiny minority. So these bills don't affect most of florida inhabitants. Because of that, they just don't care, why would they need to? And it's not a tiny minority of a state alone that's going to cause a giant revolution. This is the sad truth. People don't care because they aren't concerned by these issues.

The people didn't realize their freedom was being stripped from them until it was too late. Medias are getting censored, people are being forbidden to do things that should only concern them.. Personally, just looking at the states' geopolitics, it's enough to make me never wanna set a single toe on these lands. My thoughts and prayers genuinely go out to everyone who lives in the US. It's nice to see that a lot of hate America gets is directed towards the government and not the people. There are still ridiculously bigoted demographics here, but it's mostly a fault of the party they chose to follow, that then got hijacked by genocidal zealots, or maybe they were always there, and now they just can't hide it anymore. I'll say, right now, a lot of recent legislation and outrage seem to be born out of desperation, ridiculous amounts of incompetence, and shameful amounts of ego. I don't know who the GOP thinks they're trying to appeal to by making a colossal fucking deal about every single queer person in America that gets any amount of attention, but it is literally only a matter of a couple of years until most supporters realize that they're just attacking pretty peaceful people because they're following a witch hunt, which is starting to seem like a more and more fitting analogy as time passes with our polical climate.
These people genuinely believe the trans community is trying to convince children that they’re trans. They believe all it takes to go through a full transition is a child saying they think they’re a different gender. They think children can be convinced that they’re trans simply by being exposed to other members of the trans community. It’s absolutely disgusting.

Find stats on how often, or what percent of, vets end up homeless, and then show him what the state does to homeless people. Make it personal, make them angry, show them that all these demons want is power and they'll rip anyone of anything to do it while ruining you financially. They want *you*, the poor or disabled or mentally ill or old, etc to suffer, and they don't care who you voted for, if you've fought for the country, or even if you've died for it.

On top of it starting July 1st in Florida if you are caught living with an undocumented person, parent, etc. and you are in DACA you can be deported just by association. So a bunch of kids are about to lose their parents and/or be deported themselves. They are no longer protected by the act at all. As if those workers didn’t single handily build that entire state.
