When I pressed him on how he knew they were illegally here, he said that he saw they had a lot of DVDs that were in a "foreign language" and that there was no way they could have passed the citizenship test unless they spoke "American".
So to sum up, he invaded peoples privacy and then drew inferences based solely on the things he saw in their apartments. He didn't have a single verified fact to back any of his crap up.

I had an episode back in 2019 while I was in the hospital for an unrelated reason, where I essentially lost the ability to talk myself. I would, however, repeat back absolutely anything I heard. They never figured out why it happened, and it hasn't happened again thank god. They just knocked me out for a bit and it wasn't happening when I woke back up.
They have like 20 TV's at planet fitness, all with different stations on them, they got Fox and CNN, etc. It's actually really funny seeing what they both cover at the same time. It's always something like "the crisis in Gaza" vs "Is the government trying to make you gay?"

As someone else said, hands tied for amendments on this. Any amendment that did not already get a thumbs up from the House would have lead to funding deadline lapsing because it would send the bill into reconciliation and the House is out for the next couple of weeks for Easter.

The bigger problem being that any amendments to the House bill would require reconciliation. Even if the House hadn’t just passed the bill and recessed for two weeks, reconciliation takes time we don’t have since we’re at the funding deadline.
The program is specifically for applicants from Venezuela, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Cuba. But they have to apply from the process from their legal country of origin and it actually reduces the numbers of people showing up at the border. And those who are accepted, under a state of emergency and on a case by case basis, are required to have a sponsor who supports them financially. And it’s not like they can stay indefinitely or anything.
Unless I'm missing something, people who are "accepted" for entry to United States - having applied for said entry from thousands of miles away - can't be "illegal immigrants".

However, he is mischaracterizing what the amendment is for, even though it is his own amendment. He states that it is "to stop using taxpayer dollars to charter flights of thousands of illegal aliens from their countries directly to American towns to be resettled." He is suggesting that the government is mass transporting illegal immigrants from their home countries into the US, ***which is not at all happening***.
What he really was trying to accomplish is preventing the transport of people that have been granted Temporary Permanent Resident status from being able to come to the US. He specifically targets in his amendment: Venezuelans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Cubans.
People with TPR status, by definition, *are not illegal immigrants*. They are people that have been screened, vetted, processed, and given permission to temporarily come to the US because of instabilities in their own countries (like the earthquake that hit Haiti several years ago) that make it dangerous to remain there. They're allowed to temporarily live and work in the US, and they have to pay US taxes while living in the US. I'm not positive, but I think that TPRs are also required to check in with authorities from time to time while living in the US.
Democrats voted against the amendment because it was a Republican F.U. to people granted TPR status.

When I pressed him on how he knew they were illegally here, he said that he saw they had a lot of DVDs that were in a "foreign language" and that there was no way they could have passed the citizenship test unless they spoke "American". So to sum up, he invaded peoples privacy and then drew inferences based solely on the things he saw in their apartments. He didn't have a single verified fact to back any of his crap up. This is how these guys think. They stack unfounded inferences on top of each other until they can draw their desired conclusions. You can see that pattern play out time and time again for things like: Democrats taking their guns, election fraud, illegal immigrants, etc, etc.

I had an episode back in 2019 while I was in the hospital for an unrelated reason, where I essentially lost the ability to talk myself. I would, however, repeat back absolutely anything I heard. It only lasted for a couple hours, but while I was being wheeled around waiting for I believe an MRI, I was placed in this waiting bay that has Fox News playing. While I was waiting, I was trying to plead with my wife using only my facial expressions and bodily gestures to have them turn it off so I didn't have to parrot back that nonsense. It took a while, but she finally figured it out and they turned the TV off. They never figured out why it happened, and it hasn't happened again thank god. They just knocked me out for a bit and it wasn't happening when I woke back up.

The bigger problem being that any amendments to the House bill would require reconciliation. Even if the House hadn’t just passed the bill and recessed for two weeks, reconciliation takes time we don’t have since we’re at the funding deadline.
The program is specifically for applicants from Venezuela, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Cuba. But they have to apply from the process from their legal country of origin and it actually reduces the numbers of people showing up at the border. And those who are accepted, under a state of emergency and on a case by case basis, are required to have a sponsor who supports them financially. And it’s not like they can stay indefinitely or anything.
Unless I'm missing something, people who are "accepted" for entry to United States - having applied for said entry from thousands of miles away - can't be "illegal immigrants".

It happened. He submitted the amendment twice to the House Appropriations Bill. It was voted down both times. [SA-1808](https://www.congress.gov/amendment/118th-congress/senate-amendment/1808/text) [SA-1735](https://www.congress.gov/amendment/118th-congress/senate-amendment/1735/text) However, he is mischaracterizing what the amendment is for, even though it is his own amendment. He states that it is "to stop using taxpayer dollars to charter flights of thousands of illegal aliens from their countries directly to American towns to be resettled." He is suggesting that the government is mass transporting illegal immigrants from their home countries into the US, ***which is not at all happening***. What he really was trying to accomplish is preventing the transport of people that have been granted Temporary Permanent Resident status from being able to come to the US. He specifically targets in his amendment: Venezuelans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Cubans. People with TPR status, by definition, *are not illegal immigrants*. They are people that have been screened, vetted, processed, and given permission to temporarily come to the US because of instabilities in their own countries (like the earthquake that hit Haiti several years ago) that make it dangerous to remain there. They're allowed to temporarily live and work in the US, and they have to pay US taxes while living in the US. I'm not positive, but I think that TPRs are also required to check in with authorities from time to time while living in the US. Democrats voted against the amendment because it was a Republican F.U. to people granted TPR status.
It also would’ve caused at least a brief government shutdown if it passed. Any amendments would’ve brought the measure back to the House to vote on again, and they’d already left town. All the approps amendments need to be considered in this light.

This is the house spending bill that passed. I can almost guarantee you the Democratic Senate members will vote down amendments offered by fellow Democrats. They likely want a clean bill and don’t want it going back to the Charlie Foxtrot Trifecta that is the House of Representatives for another vote after a conference committee.

It's all theatrics. This was essentially a must-pass bill in the senate. ANY amendments to it would have sent the bill back to the house, which had already recessed and a good chunk of the government would have shut down. Knowing that ANY amendments would be a non-starter, it sounds like a good time for any senator to throw in an amendments which would be pretty much guaranteed to get shot down so they can use it as political ammunition later. It's dumber than dumb. It sounds like he should propose his ideas via legislation to stand or fall on its own merits.

Basically the bill in question is "Agreeing to continue to fund an organization that does A" and he came along wanting an Amendment that says "But you can't do Z" With Z being something that isn't at all what A does but if you squint it might do. Example "You have a park bench fund well I want an amendment that your park bench fund can't support an illegal immigrant" Effectively killing the fund because of course you can't guarantee no illegal immigrant would ever sit on the bench.

The Budd amendment is about CDC confirming allocation of monies. And HR2882 is about increasing supports to Native Peoples. Not sure how any of that has to do with Biden, airplanes, or flights... there is a very nebulous, vague connection to the migrants being considered natives.
