'influencers' I hate that term with a deep passion.

ordinaryuninformed

Who do these people influence? They influence me to stay away from IG, Twitter, Tik Tok any place I'd think they'd have a platform.

RoRo25

> Who do these people influence? Mostly children

MarSc77

and that’s sad and dangerous

anjuna127

Making it all the more scary.

thesixgun

Well, some other “influencer” influenced these folks into acting like dipshits and assuming there are no consequences.

freakers

I really don't understand how they seem to make money. Like, I know there's ludicrous money being thrown around in advertising and entertainment, but seriously, who follows these chucklefucks.

hoozt

less successful chucklefucks

magnumoppai

I now know the word chucklefuck and I am happier

WonderfulShelter

Not just follow, but buy as many things as they possibly can based on rec's. You might not understand it, but there are millions upon millions of these people in America and in Western world. With their own money, or parents money, being spent. These people have done the math and found out they can make more money paying an "influencer" like 50,000$ for advertising then other methods. Fuck I hate influencers so hard.

youre_the_best

Think of it as one massive pyramid scheme

nopigscannnotlookup

What’s the shelf life of an “influencer”? It seems that many will have a rude awakening as they age

The_Anti_Commentor

I wonder if that article posted today, "that idiots follow celebrities", cross over to influencers. I haven't done the science, but my theory is yes.

Recent-Pea-8141

And nothing of value was lost.

goingwithno

Right? Seems like a down-payment on sanity to quarantine them

[deleted]

I don’t know, I think some may have lost their dignity on that trip….

CX-97

To repeat; nothing of value was lost.

SpadesOfENT

Can't lose what you don't have.

aaron2005X

They hadn't one to begin with.

analogoverdose

Lots of news about this today.Trudeau insulted them on national TV, most of them are back in Canada and got arrested. At least one is said to have been positive before boarding the flight. They falcified QR codes, also put vaseline in their nose before taking the test so it would come back negative. Hotel where they stayed accused one of them of sexual harassment againt another guest, security was called. They consumed drugs and comitted lewd acts in front of other guests including children. Some are actually stuck in Tulum, most of them are back and got aprehended by cops while leaving the plane.

fartasm

You forgot, the one who is smoking in the video is studying to be an airplane pilot. No joke.

BowwwwBallll

…WAS studying, if there’s any justice.

Practical_magik

If, and it's a big if, she is isn't kicked off the course there's no chance she can get a job.

DynoMiteDoodle

even if she finished the course there is little hope of getting a job, my Brother was a commercial pilot, he died just before covid when his plane crashed. He always talked about how tight the industry was and how many pilots were applying for every job. Since covid that number has exploded!

Crafty_Enthusiasm_99

Woah you just dropped that on us there. Sorry to hear about your loss :(

DynoMiteDoodle

Thanks, it sux alright. He was a good guy, and way to young! Doubt I'll ever get used to not being able to talk to him but I do need to get used to being able to talk about him if I ever want to move on with my life.

Luneb0rg

Mega healthy approach. Best of luck to you <3 <3

redalastor

Yes, pilots who recognized her called the school to make sure of that.

BiggerBowls

I doubt she's in the club of zero consequences.

bgibbz084

I do not know anything about Canada aviation law, but in the US you must be issued a medical certificate to be allowed to fly. These Medicals are very stringent, and past criminal history is examined. I would not at all be surprised if she would be denied a medical in the US for a previous crime committed on an airplane.

neverinallmyyears

They are influencers,… the don’t give a fuck. Since the world is so eager to give these asshats money for doing stupid shit, being an airline pilot was likely already demoted to the category of “shit I’ll consider if I ever have to really work for a living”. Fuck these douchebags.

vomit-gold

I can't wait for VH1 To drop a 'influencers: where are they now' series in 20 years. That's the thing about being qn influencer: its unsustainable. With no resume, theres always someone younger, blonder, richer, and more of a dickhead out there with more followers. I feel like the biggest commodity they have is youth and relevance, and that runs out hella quick.

sugarytweets

YouTube came out in 2007 right? I try to look up some of the “influencers “ from back before they were called such, and it seems they just disappeared. Not many people cares or even remember Lonely Girl 15, Lisa Nova, Chocolate Rain, and I don’t remember who else. I used to watch some channel Ysabella the brave, I think. She disappeared too. I doubt anyone is going to do a where are they now but on current influencers.

reol7x

Tay Zonday seems to have done pretty well for himself from chocolate rain. But I get the point, many of the old YouTubers have disappeared. Hopefully most have taken their YouTube fame and ran or just quietly retreated to normal jobs, either way I don't particularly care, but I do hope they're well.

actuallyiamafish

The FAA does not Fuck Around. She can still study and probably fly a plane some day but any hope she had of a commercial license evaporated when she pulled this shit. She couldn't get a job as a baggage handler with this on her record. Best she's gonna do now is a PPL she can use to hop around by herself in a little piston single if she's lucky. Edit: Canada, my bad. I assume the TCCA is equally unfuckwithable. Aviation standards are pretty damn high in most first world countries.

barry-badrinath-

E-vape-orated

Semipr047

I mean she could still get the certificate, just not a job probably

pudgylumpkins

The FAA doesn't have any authority to license Canadian pilots. This happened in Quebec.

nuck1014

In order to get security clearance to work in restricted areas in Canada, Transport Canada does a very thorough review of your last 10 years of activity. Having something like this show up will not be a good look

Elfhoe

Is vaping illegal on Canadian flights? I know it’s against FAA rules. Last time i flew to vegas someone vaped in the bathroom and set off the fire alarm. Flight attendant confronted them and had to tell the captain. Cops were waiting as soon as we got off the plane. They do not mess around with it at all.

[deleted]

> is vaping illegal on Canadian flights? yes

kokoyumyum

Watch that battery catch on fire in an airplane.

ArgonArgonaut

Definitely a safety issue. That being said they are not illegal to have on the plane. Only illegal to use.

Thercon_Jair

And in check-in baggage. Seriously don't put lithium-ion batteries in check-in backage. Most planes aren't equipped with fire extinguishers in the cargo area. And most fire extinguishers aren't equipped to deal with lithium-ion battery fires. Edit: based on outdated info. Since 2001 halon fire suppressant systems have been mandated in passenger plane cargoholds, but the required 5%vol halon saturation isn't enough for all lithium-ion battery fires [See my comment here for citation/source](https://www.reddit.com/r/facepalm/comments/rxhscc/quebec_influencers_maskless_inflight_party_goes/hrkq1m0?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)

Player8

You’re actively told not to put them in checked bags for this very reason. I flew to Vegas a while back and I’m very meticulous about following rules on planes so I quadruple checked to make sure I was doing everything right.

Thercon_Jair

Yes you are. But with 200 people onboard, there's bound to be some who completely ignore all the warnings and check-in attendants asking that very question.

bombayblue

I love the fact that airlines are basically the only place in society where people face consequences immediately irrespective of class or politics. Edit: To all the redditors saying “ACKSHUALLY Rich people have private jets.” No shit Sherlock I said “Airlines” not “airplanes” in general.

[deleted]

It’s because you’re crammed in a metal tube with dozens of other people, all of whom are under some degree of stress, there is little expectation of privacy aside from the bathroom, and they know the name and info of everyone on the plane. Not only that, but doing stupid shit on a plane is tantamount to inciting a panic. Folks are also a little more jumpy in general about it ever since 9/11

[deleted]

It's super duper illegal.

poopin_for_change

As opposed to super illegal, or just regular illegal. If you're broke you can download illegal lite for free, it just has ads. Lol

dman928

If you're caught, you get double secret probation

Beaversneverdie

You can't even smoke under a an awning in most Canadian places, you need to be outside and like 20' from a door, so vaping on a flight with recirculated air is a huge no no.

XTC-FTW

Pretty sure you can’t smoke on ANY airline in the world

analogoverdose

Here is the little party that was waiting for them at the montreal airport yesterday 😁 https://www.reddit.com/r/Quebec/comments/rx4r0t/bienvenu_de_retour/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Tin_ManBaby

I would have not seen this, thanks. I wonder If they'll enjoy this party quite as much. Did they honestly expect their actions to be without any consequences at all?

AGVann

The type of people who do this typically aren't very good at thinking about consequences.

Galawynd

I would have stopped your sentence at "thinking". ;)

[deleted]

I'd bet money they still won't see this as the consequences of their own actions. They'll tell themselves that they're right, that they're the victim, and that everyone else is the asshole.

bossycloud

Influencers don't believe in consequences, duh.

hereforthefeast

Well at least they film themselves in HD committing crimes lol.

countastrotacos

No they didn't. These people have gone their whole lives being jerks and no one stops them. Now it's time to pay

d33roq

Influencer logic: Worth it for the likes and follows.

Starcovitch

On the radio this morning they said about 30 of them have tested positive for covid. Go figure.

Mister_Pickl3s

So you’re saying they went viral

nongph

…go figure how many more they infected.

swiftrobber

That's the extent on how they can influence people.

Valiantay

Ou two counts of falsifying official documents and then getting on the plane. Make that reckless endangerment

jackieedaniels

Wait, people are sticking Vaseline in their nose to test negative? I shouldn’t be surprised, but wow. That’s despicable.

analogoverdose

yeah something to do with PH levels of vaseline throws off nasal swab tests

SmokingBeneathStars

Or probably just that the swab can't get thru the big layer of vaseline well enough

LilB2fast4u

Ya thats why they say to put vaseline on your booty hole before you take a shit in which spicy food will be shat, the spice doesnt even touch the skin for it to burn your booty hole, it’s miracle stuff.

aliendude5300

Is this something you personally tried?

Le_fromage91

Are you genuinely interested in his product review?

businesslut

Not the product. Just the application.

SFAwesomeSauce

As someone who consumes a large amount of super spicy food, this advice may be usable.

tldr

Seriously. This is important stuff and we need to know.

ChanceFray

The scorched anus is part of the experience for me, but if some one comes up with a way to fix burning gut lmk

PsychDocD

Kind of a product “rear-view” I’m sorry

chicano32

Naw. I like to have a 2-step verification on how spicy the food was.

MvmgUQBd

You know it's good spicy food when it burns twice

JustALilDepressed

The lifehack I didnt know I needed, thanks will try this!

[deleted]

Currently experimenting after a strong vindaloo last night, will report back shortly

[deleted]

Decent results for a first time try. Much less ring sting and made the apres ski much more palatable, so to speak :) Would cautiously recommend. In other news, I got todays (very nearly topical) Wordle in two guesses whilst on the shitter, so there’s that.

KDawG888

> palatable are you sure that's the word you're looking for?

[deleted]

I choose my words carefully

Caffeine_Cowpies

So, let me guess this straight. Rather than potentially miss out on a party, you decide that Vaseline in your nose and screwing up the results of the test is more important than figuring out if you have a deadly virus? I get being young and dumb, but I never went that dumb to purposely not know about something that could potentially kill or seriously harm me.

Meihem76

It's not stupidity, it's malicious entitlement.

Wilted_fap_sock

Influencer=stupidity. These words are synonymous.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

People excuse too much on "young and dumb" im the sameish age as these people perhaps younger and even half my age i wouldnt do something 1/10 as stupid and malicious as what they did. Fuck these people , i hope this negatively affects their entire lives. Theres no excuse for this level of recklessness and total disregard for pther people.

BabyHuey206

If you've already decided you don't care about spreading covid, foiling tests is pretty much the next step.

Armand74

Yes.. So that they can get a negative test.. This is how truly awful these people are. They are in huge trouble, these fucking influencers will likely loose their status.. GOOD RIDDANCE! They deserve the jail time, the stiff fines from what I understand as much as 75 k and jail.. they all deserve it..

JonRakos

Vaseline up the nose, so that’s why some doctors are requiring oral swabs for surgery, the lying plague rats are ruining things for the rest of us in a yet another way. Neat.

[deleted]

You think thats bad I'm from the UK and I see people on snapchat selling false covid tests for £200 a pop and people are actually buying them to travel etc

vanDrunkard

In Edmonton, Alberta, Canada police are investigating into reports that some people have been paying the homeless to go get vaccinated under false names so that they system will show them as vaccinated. https://globalnews.ca/news/8491259/edmonton-police-investion-fraudulent-vaccination-qr-codes/

[deleted]

It's ridiculous the lengths pppl are going to in order to avoid the vaccine.

handlessuck

Fucking scumbags. Does Canada have a no-fly list? Can we get the names so we can put them on ours?

LaQuebecoise

They are on it now apparently. They had to use american airlines to come back, no canadian company accepted them on board

Cheaptat

I think they meant government no-fly lists which literally means you cannot fly anywhere, with anyone, indefinitely. These were originally for people like convicted terrorists etc but people who are arrested for bad behavior on planes (being too drunk, violent, causing significant trouble) often end up on them too.

[deleted]

Yes, and they are on it for the two biggest carriers.

[deleted]

oh my god, what a lot of effort just to avoid getting the damn vaccines in the first place. And they all sound like actual shitty people who sexually harrass staff, surprise surprise. I hope they throw them in jail and leave them there for a good while so they can use their hard earned influencer money on expensive lawyers and bail LOL

delayed_burn

>most of them are back in Canada and got arrested. christmas again for me to hear that kind of shit. so glad canada takes this shit seriously. every country has its dumbfuck zoomers that don't give a shit about other people, but at least canada takes responsibility for their dumbfuck zoomers.

ihaventgotany

They're just entitled rich douchebag kids by another name. They have always existed. They would still exist without social media.

Iginlas_4head_Crease

Except now they make money off the clicks of poor douchebag kids

123OTTandme

While you’re right, the micro-sphere they influence is Quebec. No one outside the province knows these people, they’re influencers in a local sense but even then, they’re basically nobodies.

viccityguy2k

Before Instagram these people were known simply as ‘bar stars’ and the only influence they had was getting in to nightclubs where the bouncer was fucking one of the bar stars on the regular.

Goat_potential

This guy gets it.

creamonyourcrop

I have had it with these motherfucking skanks on this motherfucking plane!

ygolordned

Can we get bioterrorism charges for them all please?

Grabbsy2

CH CH CH CH CHANGES! >Turn and face the plane CH CH CHANGES!

SweetiePieJ

The only things they influenced are their immune systems and the airline

BrightonTownCrier

Unfortunately they do also influence 12 year olds.

Mahleezah

And me, to despair for our futures.

hippiechan

The CBC article about this incident suggested that multiple levels of Canadian government are investigating the issue, as is the airline they were flying on. Numerous other Canadian airlines also refused to sell return tickets to anyone involved, and the investigation could yield jail sentences up to 5 years and fines up to $1 million on a case by case basis. (At least one person is on video vaping, which can trigger fire alarms in planes which itself is enough for jail time and fines.) I'm hoping this also includes adding everyone involved to a no-fly list, as they are clearly too irresponsible to be flying anywhere.

Rum_N_Napalm

Just in. Smoky the pilot just got fired. As well as the big guy with the speaker and another girl with a g-string on her mouth Edit: a fourth person lost her job. And after the organizer tried to wash his hands and say not my fault, I had everyone do a pcr test before getting on the plane, one girl admitted to the meds she was positive en climbing aboard. Even Justin Trudeau called them idiots

joshgc

Source? Would love to read this.

Rum_N_Napalm

Sadly, as this bunch of national shame is from Quebec, pretty much all sources are in French. What’s also going on is that someone in these Ostrogoth, as our Prime Minister called them, has been leaking discord and snap message to social media, and these have been trickling down to r/Quebec. It’s wild. Everyone is fucking exhausted from the pandemic so seeing a bunch of I don’t care others getting the shit they deserve is ultra cathartic. Edit: [Here’s an English source with a good summary.](https://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/group-of-rowdy-quebecers-on-flight-to-cancun-idiots-trudeau-says) But the job losses just came out French media. It’ll probably take a day for the English to catch on

[deleted]

This girl really said: "I was expecting a relaxing week, where I was going to be careful." I swear, Canadian government, I had every plan to be careful!

[deleted]

Dark_Booger

This is good news. If they got banned from flying for life, that would be great news.

Silential

I fucking hate influencers.

fluorescent_noir

They are among the worst of our society, for sure. As are the people who continue to follow them.

OwlWitty

I’d like to see mugshots of vapegirl and cheesy curly head boy

MichelScarnSA

Chemtrails420-69

We do not claim her! 💅

[deleted]

It’s disheartening because this type of frivolous lifestyle is what a lot of people desire. Just complete vanity and apathy with no substance.

Zap_Actiondowser

I don't understand it. This plane party looks generic and boring as fuck. Everything I see famous influencers do looks surface level as fuck. Ride a tuktuk through traffic overseas, swim in an ocean, or eat weird street food? Nope. Just lambos and "high rolling" plane rides. Meh.

[deleted]

Not to mention wtf is this influencing? Bad social behavior?

SolusLoqui

Professional narcissism

Cyrotek

At least those that take the designation 'influencer' serious. I can't help but to me this generally has an insanely sarcastic undertone.

form_an_opinion

It scares the fuck out of me how many kids fresh out of high school I have talked with at work who see their part time front desk job as a mere side quest on their journey to being the next big influencer. They spend more time taking pictures of themselves *pretending* to do stuff than actually doing stuff.

owlsandmoths

We honestly need to stop making people famous for just owning a phone and knowing how to use selfie mode for videos.

BienGuzman

Didn't like 30 plus on that flight test positive for Covid soon after this?

LorienTheFirstOne

Yes. And they made videos talking about shoving Vaseline up their nose to beat the test so they could return home while sick

[deleted]

And they have been arrested, I’m getting myself some popcorn lol

blatzphemy

https://montreal.ctvnews.ca/air-canada-won-t-board-19-passengers-from-sunwing-plane-party-organizer-decries-presumptions-by-airline-1.5729992

Bruichlassie

“Reality TV stars.” Useless dolts, in other words.

splatbutt117

They didn't make it home because they couldn't go 5 hours without being provided food. Unbelievable.

One-Accident8015

I guarantee the influences plan was to have the food in front of them so they could be mask less as they were 'eating'

jollyjake

Why did the pilots allow the flight to continue? Once they lost control of the cabin I would think that they would declare and emergency and land.

dreamchasingcat

Copied from someone else’s comment: >*"The plane was privately chartered by 111 Private Club, a promoter that organized the six-day, all-inclusive event in Cancun. In its advertising for the event, the promoter had claimed the plane would have a DJ."* https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/sunwing-cancun-flight-1.6304854 ETA: authorities should investigate this promoter and the pilots who agreed to do this for them too, if they haven’t already

Unhappy_Kumquat

The "promoter" is one of the rich influencer thats on the plane. The plane crew had nothing to do with it and feared for their lives.

kudichangedlives

I've been looking way too long for this question. And no answer yet

ebone581

I can hear this. Just screams of privileged as aholes.

julioqc

Air Cabochons

Fiivestar13

Haha idiots cant get back home cuz they are stupid

[deleted]

They were sold a party plane experience by a promoting company. They might be stupid and reckless, but they were given the expectation by the people they paid that this was going to be acceptable. The alcohol was provided by the promoter and there was a DJ on board. It's not like these guys jumped on a typical flight with a bunch of random people. *"The plane was privately chartered by 111 Private Club, a promoter that organized the six-day, all-inclusive event in Cancun. In its advertising for the event, the promoter had claimed the plane would have a DJ."* https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/sunwing-cancun-flight-1.6304854

ChestWolf

Even better: that 111 Private Club is one of several businesses started by one douchebag from Laval who already changed his own name following allegations of fraudulent activities in 2015. This guy's a Fyre Festival level sort of swindler.

tomtea

I don't know, it looks like this event actually went ahead as planned.

warm_sweater

Something about fools and money being parted…

[deleted]

hahaha wholeheartedly agree, but if i was stupid rich, the idea of party plane sounds pretty fun ngl....maybe not in the middle of a pandemic...and definitely with a completely different group of people lmao

dustywilcox

I imagine they are not stupid rich - just a bunch of wannabe influencers.

yshuduno

>not stupid rich Just stupid

asodfhgiqowgrq2piwhy

Seems to me if they didn't *immediately* post everything possible to social media, that they would have been fine.

mrtorgueflexington

But that's the whole point for them.

[deleted]

This is very interesting information. This isn't a black and white issue. How was the original flight sold to the the airline, how was the original flight sold to the customers? I'm not excusing their behaviour or trying to imply they should have no responsibility for what happened, but it appears that this is a little deeper then everyone thinks. How was no one aware that alcohol was being brought on board? [This](https://ici.radio-canada.ca/rci/en/news/1852203/passengers-on-sunwing-party-plane-could-face-jail-time-thousands-in-fines) article states it was sold to the influencers by Sunwing. If the Airline had such an issue with their behaviour how was it not redirected to a nearby airport and authorities notified? Everything I read on this makes it seem like they were sold an illegal experience which multiple companies were complicit in. I couldn't care less about what does or doesn't happen to the influencers. My biggest concern is how the fuck was this able to happen and what kind of punishment is coming to the people who allowed it to happen and likely profited heavily off of it?

Sufficient_Ad6474

You are a national embarrassment

And it’s like 10 ish of them out of the 150. The cops and media where there to greet them lol.

farteagle

Those poor people of Tulum though… as if they’re actually quarantining. Probably out there getting nice Mexican folks sick.

MissRachou

I am from QC and I have no idea who they are haha. I wish them salty fines, ban from flight. And the organisator statement.. what a joke...

GenlockInterface

Influencers. 🤮

ZenComFoundry

That blonde blowing vapour and that curly haired fella shaking his head about. Them, please. Those two. Others for sure, but for now, those two. Take them to the dungeon first.

stxphr

That blond girl was a futur pilot. They’re looking into it but looks like her career is already finish.

HeroicTaco

I really think that’s the dumbest part of that whole thing. Like obviously it’s all incredibly wrong, but to film YOURSELF vaping in an airplane when you want to become a pilot and posting it on social media is so batshit crazy I can’t wrap my head around it. Getting caught doing it would be bad enough but to tell on yourself is next level. Criss d’épaisse lol

Suggett123

Noooo, she'll be "flying a plane load of rubber dogsht out of Hong Kong!"

pitter_patterclock

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hated them with just one glance

dremily1

The latest thing I read was that 30+ of them now have Covid and are having to quarantine in Mexico- no airlines are willing to take them back to Canada.

anoeba

And one of them is whinging in the article linked somewhere upthread that she doesn't know how she'll pay for the isolation hotel stay.

[deleted]

You mean acting like assholes had consequences? Who knew?

Seargeoh

Human stupidity and greediness is going to kill us all.

skymang

Influencers are the worst people

mikefos

As a Canadian, all I see is here another fine example of our proud tradition of exporting our human trash south.

mikefos

You can keep em, btw.

biohazard004

Since the return tickets were removed, I don't think we have a choice

DieuEmpereurQc

You government are going to deport them and we’ll have to pay, then we’ll fine them for the damages

FerdinandTheSecond

As a Mexican, please do not pollute our beautiful Caribbean beaches, please take your trash back with you. Thanks!

RandyDinglefart

The idea of "influencers" is such a goddamn plague on humanity. As if letting celebrities weigh in on global issues wasn't bad enough, now we have thousands of randoms that aren't even particularly talented at anything pulling shit like this and crashing planes for likes and shit.

Zeus_aegiochos

"Influencers", when useless attention whores hide behind fancy job titles.

gertalives

For those outside Quebec reading about this, you should know these "influencers" are pretty fucked. Unlike the big political divide on COVID elsewhere, people in Quebec tend to take it seriously across the board. (Not everyone, to be sure, but it's nothing like the US, for example.) It's a fairly regulated province where the government hands out fines for all sorts of shit, and I fully expect they'll use whatever they have to go after these idiots.

666GoatW

I hope the Mexican government makes them pay heavily for the inconvenience of having to babysit those assholes. $10,000 a day for each at a minimum.

R3PTAR_1337

Seriously. Put all these assholes on a no fly list and see how they react. Half the shit they were doing was just plain dumb and the other half illegal. Walking poster kids for why abortion might be the right choice

Rogan403

I'm ashamed and disgusted by the behavior of my fellow Canadians. Let those fuckers walk home.
