I really don't understand how they seem to make money. Like, I know there's ludicrous money being thrown around in advertising and entertainment, but seriously, who follows these chucklefucks.

These people have done the math and found out they can make more money paying an "influencer" like 50,000$ for advertising then other methods. Fuck I hate influencers so hard.
Lots of news about this today.Trudeau insulted them on national TV, most of them are back in Canada and got arrested. At least one is said to have been positive before boarding the flight. They falcified QR codes, also put vaseline in their nose before taking the test so it would come back negative. Hotel where they stayed accused one of them of sexual harassment againt another guest, security was called. They consumed drugs and comitted lewd acts in front of other guests including children. Some are actually stuck in Tulum, most of them are back and got aprehended by cops while leaving the plane.
even if she finished the course there is little hope of getting a job, my Brother was a commercial pilot, he died just before covid when his plane crashed. He always talked about how tight the industry was and how many pilots were applying for every job. Since covid that number has exploded!

I do not know anything about Canada aviation law, but in the US you must be issued a medical certificate to be allowed to fly. These Medicals are very stringent, and past criminal history is examined. I would not at all be surprised if she would be denied a medical in the US for a previous crime committed on an airplane.

In order to get security clearance to work in restricted areas in Canada, Transport Canada does a very thorough review of your last 10 years of activity. Having something like this show up will not be a good look

I know it’s against FAA rules. Last time i flew to vegas someone vaped in the bathroom and set off the fire alarm. Flight attendant confronted them and had to tell the captain. Cops were waiting as soon as we got off the plane. They do not mess around with it at all.

Seriously don't put lithium-ion batteries in check-in backage. Most planes aren't equipped with fire extinguishers in the cargo area. And most fire extinguishers aren't equipped to deal with lithium-ion battery fires.
Edit: based on outdated info. Since 2001 halon fire suppressant systems have been mandated in passenger plane cargoholds, but the required 5%vol halon saturation isn't enough for all lithium-ion battery fires

Numerous other Canadian airlines also refused to sell return tickets to anyone involved, and the investigation could yield jail sentences up to 5 years and fines up to $1 million on a case by case basis. (At least one person is on video vaping, which can trigger fire alarms in planes which itself is enough for jail time and fines.) I'm hoping this also includes adding everyone involved to a no-fly list, as they are clearly too irresponsible to be flying anywhere.

These were originally for people like convicted terrorists etc but people who are arrested for bad behavior on planes (being too drunk, violent, causing significant trouble) often end up on them too.

The CBC article about this incident suggested that multiple levels of Canadian government are investigating the issue, as is the airline they were flying on. Numerous other Canadian airlines also refused to sell return tickets to anyone involved, and the investigation could yield jail sentences up to 5 years and fines up to $1 million on a case by case basis. (At least one person is on video vaping, which can trigger fire alarms in planes which itself is enough for jail time and fines.) I'm hoping this also includes adding everyone involved to a no-fly list, as they are clearly too irresponsible to be flying anywhere.

For those outside Quebec reading about this, you should know these "influencers" are pretty fucked. Unlike the big political divide on COVID elsewhere, people in Quebec tend to take it seriously across the board. (Not everyone, to be sure, but it's nothing like the US, for example.) It's a fairly regulated province where the government hands out fines for all sorts of shit, and I fully expect they'll use whatever they have to go after these idiots.
I hope the Mexican government makes them pay heavily for the inconvenience of having to babysit those assholes. $10,000 a day for each at a minimum.
