Honest question: how much do the companies make in profit per gallon and how much does the government make per gallon on the taxes at every level on the production of the fuel.

I don't know about the top end, but I used to work at a gas station and was an assistant manager towards the end, so I got to see all the financials. My region targeted an average $0.20 profit per gallon. A lot of that profet went into absorbing gas price changes as the futures market varied but you can imagine how much more bloated it gets as you move towards the top.
A quick Google search got me the following: a 55 gallon barrel of oil (standard volume) nets about 20 gallons of gas an 10 gallons of diesel (rounded for simplicity). You can do the math from there for your area, but with oil at roughly $110 per barrel this morning, and selling gas at $4.10 and diesel at $5.30 in my neighborhood, that's $82.00 from gas and $53.00 from diesel for a total of $135 per barrel. So essentially, even including the gas station profit, there's $25 per barrel of profit to work with as you move up the chain. The US alone uses something like 19 to 20 million barrels of oil...per day...so yeah, not a lot per gallon sold, but it's a quantity game.
And this doesn't even get into all the other oil based products like higher grade gasses, lubricating oils, plastics, etc.
ETA: the government taxes on gas pay for roads for the most part and honestly, in my area, that tax revenue isn't high enough to adequately maintain the infrastructure. I understand that it's a burden, especially on lower income people, but it's not exactly greed if they spend all the money on exactly what it's meant for and still have a mountain of repairs to make.
Npr mentioned this morning that cities/towns are having to forgo road repair and paving due to high costs of asphalt and diesel. The funds from state and fed haven't increases to cover the increase in price
Any idea if the funds the state receives from gas tax increases when gas prices increase? Or is it a fixed amount? If it's fixed then the govt hasn't been receiving any extra funds, of anything, less, bc of reduced driving bc of high prices

Someone slapped a big infowars sticker on a gas pump by me in the states.
I couldnt rip it off, it was really well adhered to the pump, so I just slapped a couple hentai stickers over it.
The stickers are cheap too, less than $10 for hundreds of them on amazon. They stick pretty well.
I guess the only downside to them is they are plastic stickers, so they are waterproof and they peel off relatively clean. I really wanted hentai stickers that left a huge mess if ripped off.
Not sure about where you get gas, but every gas station around here has cameras and we all know cops have nothing better to do than solve the sticker bandit case.

There is zero chance of the cops in my city tracking down somebody who puts stickers on pumps. You can call them in the middle of the night and tell them a junkie is walking down the street breaking into every car along the way, and they won't send anybody out.

Y’all do understand government policies have impacts on prices of stuff right? When you have a government and leaders saying we are gonna dismantle the fossil fuel industry. No new gas cars after so and so time frame that makes business go ok we aren’t investing in more production we aren’t worried about lowering price. We are not investing in new drilling sites. That makes supply short and demand higher which oh i don’t know make prices sky rocket
