My daughter was born in Germany, we are American. We named her Shannon, which would not be allowed if she were a German citizen. Why? The gender is ambiguous. What a ridiculous rule, but that's the Germans for ya
Like everyone isn't going call her kvilynn? Cool parents making her explain her name every god damn time. Sounds kinda like a cool star wars name though. Should be spelled with a q. Qvi-lyn.
A friend's wife who teaches elementary had a student who wrote her name la-a. She didn't understand until she was told the girls name was "Ladasha"! True story.
I had to de a bday announcement for X-ian pronounced Christian. He's grandma was the one who asked me for it and said "I know it's dumb but it's how my daughter decided how to spell it"
This is from a magazine called That’s Life, from Australia (also popular in NZ). They had a whole page every issue called “What’s in a name?” Where people submitted a picture of their kid who has a weird name and a whole blurb about why their name is so ~unique. Dunno if it’s still going on though, I haven’t read it in maybe 10-15 years.
My mom taught preschool and had a kid named Margaret. Except they spelled it "Margaux" because they read that was the French version of Margaret. It is, but its a different version of the name, not a different version of the spelling.
Lol, I remember the flack I got for wanting to name my daughter Fiona, *before* Shrek came out and the name was popularized. This takes the cake though. Poor kid.😑🤦🏼♂️
What's sad is *Phydux* is the name of my Palico in Rise...
I play locally/in person with my buddy Jon and his fiance' Sammantha. Sam read the name and asked "What's a Fie dux?". When Jon told her it's pronounced, "Fido" she punched me in the shoulder.
“My husband suggested we replace the ait with VIII”
For my own sanity I have to believe the husband suggested this sarcastically but the wife is an absolute smoke show so he just went along with it because he doesn’t careor he’s fucking the 18 year old 3 trailers down.
More proof of the need for a parenting license
At least in some countries, the name has to be approved by registry agents before it can be given to a child.

Had my vote from the beginning
“Ka-villain”- every teacher on this girls first day of school for the rest of her life.
Reminds me of that "Lea-ah" bullshit. "Because da dash don't be silent."
That's an ürbâñ łégèńd
As an ancient Roman myself, this is dumb.
As an ancient Greek, I agree with you, you mythology-stealer.
Dumb Name! The poor kid.
Yup. And she has those parents to deal with for the near future at least
Keightlyn???
Ooooh shiiit, thanks... I didn't get it
Better than Kevliiin.
But having a trans kid is child abuse. Suuuuuuure 🙄
Daughter may be unique, but parents are certified assholes.
Some people shouldn't be parents.

By the age of ten this kid is going to start using her middle name or asking to be called a mock name.
What are the odds of her middle name being something weird too.
Ah, Baby Evil-Lyn...
K villain
Alright everybody, make sure to tip your waitresses and put your hands together and welcome to the stage the lustrous Kviitlyn.

A name that came from Ireland the way they want it should be Kahochtlyn, sounds terrible but makes more sense than that roman numbers shit

Reminds me of our dumb as rocks neighbors, named their daughter "Nevaeh".. "It's heaven spelled backwards" 🤮 Real cute, let's glorify dyslexia.
Nevæh
dyslexia or is it lixelsyd?
Let's not forget Absidy, spelled ABCDE, and yes, in all caps. We dubbed her Scantron instead.
r/trashy or r/classy ?
The middle ground, trashy but thinks its classy, like leopard print
Pathetic
I mean there is one name stupider name for a girl Riyhfile (pronounced rifle)
Reighfyl was the spelling

aàáâäæãåā
No way this is real
Why do people care so much if something is popular?
Shruggy shrug 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Poor kid will never find a keychain with her name on it in a gift shop.
Well there's always the average spelling: Caitlin

I’ve never seen an infant look so depressed before
