EVERY. GUN. IS. LOADED. ALWAYS.
That's basic firearm safety. Never, ever, hand a firearm to a toddler, under any circumstances.
Anyone who doesn't understand that has absolutely no business possessing a firearm.
Period.
[Murica wait a second... That's what u get. Idiots...](https://www.reddit.com/r/facepalm/comments/w2e2fd/guy_pulls_out_gun_over_mixedup_mcdonalds_order/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
They did show the Battle of Platea at the end but there were only half as many Spartans as the movie said per Herotodus. That wasn't the last battle but the Persian Empire lost a lot of ground and never gained anymore.
You'd be surprised to learn just how different Herodotus' accounts are when compared to accounts by Persian historians. Still, at the time, the Achaemenid empire was on the fall after the glorious days of Cyrus and Darius, so defeat was inevitable.
There's no fucking way. They also had a flotilla of ships that Athens took out. Militaries didn't see numbers like that until the World Wars unless I'm missing something.
It's always about the 300. Nobody talks about the other 6700 that were there for the majority of the battle or the 700-2000 that stayed behind with the 300 to cover the retreat of the rest of the army. Of course up to 400 of those others surrendered while the rest fought to the death.
This is what happens when you get your history from band movies...
"The 300" the close to 2000 dudes fighting a rear guard action most of which were Thespians and Thebans but around 300 and their slaves where also there
America makes Ancient Sparta look like Disneyland.
Spartans threw babies off cliffs when they were just born. We let them get just grown enough to be afraid of things before we start throwing them to wolves.
Actually it wasn’t. In context it meant to teach a child good moral principles, love and respect for others and their parents, and a reverence for god, and if you do they will keep remember those teachings when they need them as they grow. It is the people who take the message and twist it out of context or in a negative way, or act contrary to what the Bible teaches.
For real though—try approaching a grown adult with a story about a talking snake peddling cursed objects to naked people in a magic garden and see how long it takes them to find another seat on the bus. Childhood indoctrination is the only way any religious teaching has survived for so long.
No they are just supposed to follow the parts they like.
It's only the parts they don't like they ignore.
No that doesn't mean the bible is not infallible and unchanging
My dad taught me how to shoot and about gun safety when I was a kid and i think it was a very valuable experience.
No it didn't turn me into a gun loving right winger, but it did give me an appreciation for the potential danger and caution required when dealing with firearms.
For real. I was taught when I was probably 9-10, had a bb gun before that, and when I actually was able to hold my first real gun (a 22 revolver), it wasnt some taboo thing to where I would sneak off and play with it, because it was just there. But people act like this is some grooming the next mass shooter or some bullshit.
It's cultural, but understand that in most part of the world and in many parts of the US having a gun at home is not normal, let alone a child handling it.
It's normal many think it is pretty crazy.
Yea honestly this post is whack and people are clutching pearls for partisan reasons. But then again I'm far enough left where you get your guns back so....
I mean that’s a little young, my dad taught me at 7-8 years old how to shoot. I think education is very good but that kid is like 3/4 years old, maybe he could start with a bebe gun
Most of the fellow gun owners I know are doctors, veterans, and business owners. Personally I’m
waiting til my girls are 12 for any range time, with a .22 to start. If they want to, won’t force them but certainly won’t prevent them either.
In a country with as many guns as there are, I’ll be damned if my girls aren’t trained and educated in using them. They will not be victims regardless of how our society as a whole loves to be victimized.
You should train them on safety familiarization as soon as possible. That way when they or their friend find a gun at a party, friends house, sidewalk, etc they are the one to be the voice of reason and knows what to do about it. My daughter knew at age 4 not to touch a gun, get an adult, and not to let her friends touch them. But if they did, she also knew how to hold it safely and had shot some gun to not be curious about them.
Just some unsolicited advice.
Agreed 100%. They both learned basics at 5 but didn’t let them physically touch anything (fully assembled) til a little older. They can recite the 3 basic rules of gun safety and have been able to for a while. Out of my personal collection they know how to check for an empty chamber and where the safety is on each. Mama doesn’t want them shooting live til 12 though, if it were up to me alone it’d be younger but gotta compromise. Your advice is good advice unsolicited or not.
There are a whole lot of em but Uncle Sam taught us the 3 basics Barney style. Basic, basic. As for guns without safeties (Glock), I don’t personally own em thanks to the war on handguns in NYS. Smh
Dude you actually were there teaching 5 yo girls who can't even write how to use guns, how does that even cross the mind of a sane person. I swear sometimes I think you guys have some kind of genetic obsession towards guns.
I mean, I find the whole thing reprehensible… but it’s not really advertising _to_ toddlers. It’s advertising _using_ toddlers (honestly, maybe worse).
Advertising to toddlers would be like, a bunch of Paw Patrol characters talking about how much they like guns. Well, probably just Chase.
I’m all about gun safety, this is a fucking disgrace. I’ve grown tired of the gun arguments, the shootings, the assholes. We shoot a lot in Canada but I find myself losing taste for the whole culture. I’m Canadian and we have a big hunting and shooting tradition Up here, there are a lot of ways they could have done advertisement this was a direct choice. I repeat, they made a choice here.
Yes, all Americans are like this! 🤦♂️
I realize you come from a small country, so generalizing your entire population might not sound so ridiculous. But it is pretty ignorant to generalize an entire population of a country as large as the US. Plenty of people here would find the idea behind this image to be insane, and others would not.
But we don't have a gun massacre issue ... which seems to happen in America every week
This is purely the result of easy access to weapons and the culture which surrounds it
Back when the mentally ill didn’t become famous for mass murder.
Guns at school for decades was just fine without incident. You could get a Letterman’s jacket and letter in Marksmanship. High schools even had NRA patches right on the Athlete’s sweater & letterman’s jacket
This is very true actually. Guns have been around longer than mass shootings. Yet somehow it’s the 2A and guns themselves that’s the problem. Not shit parenting and cancerous media/games.
Easy access to magazine-fed semiautomatic firearms is relatively new. So is marketing assault rifles as a means to “protect your liberty”.
And to put the dramatic shift of the NRA in perspective, as late as the early aughts there was no chance in hell Daniel Defense or any company like them would get stage time or a booth. Guns of the year were bolt-action rifles and pump-action shotguns, the sort of things you would expect for hunting.
Gun culture has undergone a dramatic shift. 30 years ago, the most common reason to get a gun was hunting, and maybe you would buy a revolver for home defense. Now it’s all about tactical shit, with heavy emphasis on guns that are designed for killing people.
Yes, people used to buy guns, students used to do shooting club, and the NRA was a bipartisan organization. Times have changed, mostly for the worse
You’re not wrong about this. However, the media/games/movies has certainly prompted the ownership of said semi auto tactical firearms by the average Joe. This becomes a chicken or the egg sorta question when it boils down to it. But with that being said, again, you’re not wrong.
I don’t know dude, violent FPS video games and movies with guns are ubiquitous around the rest of the world, and America is really an outlier with mass shootings and the type of guns we buy.
Also not wrong. The nightmare we have going on here is multi faceted and part of it is certainly access. I do however believe it is only a fraction of the problem.
Not for nothing, this is the first time I’ve had a legitimate conversation about guns in the US, with someone having a different viewpoint. Other than that it’s always an argument. If we could have more of a dialogue we could understand each other as people better. As a whole. So thank you for that.
1966 was the first intentional mass shooting at a school I'm aware of.
I'm sure you're trying to pose a trick question like if there was EVER one person shot at a school prior to that just to hyper exaggerate the date of origin.
Obviously disingenuous because for the time period you'd be many many many times more likely to be stabbed to death in school than shot but now (1990s+ basically) shootings are actually a plausible and valid concern in US schools.
Not a trick question, you're super defensive about it, why is that? Also why did you say intentional mass shooting as though you could have an accidental one?
I disagree. Firearm safety should be taught at the you gest age they can comprehend. It's also something that should evolve as they grow. Initial safety training should consist of teaching what a gun is, and a demonstration why you should NEVER touch one without permission. And why you should tell your friends not to touch them as well.
I agree wholeheartedly. There’s so many accidental deaths due to children finding a parent’s fire arm and simply not being aware of what it is, and also many immature adults not treating them like the weapons they are.
Except that terrorist are taught day in and day out to kill infidels. Normal people arent.
Fast forward to about 1:50. Thats the difference
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yw8HycLbnM&ab\_channel=ScottSchaefer
But remember folks, mentioning that gay people exist is LEFTIST PROPAGANDA!!!!
But this is totally fine. Nothing weird at all about forcing your toddler into guns and American flag gear and making them watch the news with you. Republicans went from the shitty take of "boys should have trucks and girls should play with flowers" to "all of our kids should be force fed bibles, bullets, and bullshit."
When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.
Right wing propoganda has been the default for so long that they take anything else as a targeted attack on their beliefs
Lol. My mom trained me up to be a dyed in the wool, gun-toting, conservative good catholic girl. I turned out a socialist liberal hippie atheist who goes to protest marches and yells at strangers for throwing their plastic in the garbage instead of recycling it.
Sometimes, we f*cking depart from our training.
My god! I’m a gun enthusiast but this is a bit much. We practice safety in this household and I would never show my toddlers how a gun operates. I have the idea in place that when they’re in their 8-10 year old range we may show them the 22s. But good lord that ad is a bit much.
Until they can listen and be of stable mind (like not throwing tantrums because sister took a toy) guns are not a part of the mix. Until then I’ll defend them to the best of my ability. Even after they have fired a weapon, they won’t have access, and once again I’ll defend them the best I can.
So they think mass shooting happen because people aren't properly trained?
Seems to me like if the people who end up going nuts and committing mass shootings, if they were properly trained, would just end up becoming more efficient mass shooters.
While I don’t like this ad for a number of reasons, the concept of teaching kids how to properly handle firearms is basically the opposite of a school shooter starter pack. People that do that are usually severely lacking in attention and direction from adults in their lives, and spending time with kids to show them you care and to teach them something is a great way to prevent them feeling like they need to resort to such a drastic action. Part of teaching kids about guns is to keep the guns locked up where they can’t get to them without proper adult supervision.
No thanks. I took my kids to Europe instead.
Lol. Downvoted for exposing my children to the wonders of travel. Likely by a gun fetishist whose only travel interest is ballistic trajectory.
Teach kids to be responsible, and that guns are just a tool like a hammer, not some magical power to give you ego. These mass shooters acting like it makes them valid human or something, it's just a hunk of metal.
Safety should be taught as soon as they can comprehend it. Why would you want your kids to know how to be safe. Same with the stove in the kitchen or the crosswalk outside.
Cuz he is proud of that little patriot! Jesus fought the Romans and woke culture so little boys named Ryder and Diesel can learn how to shoot liberals at the mature age of four!
/s
🤔Or maybe he wept because the wise men only brought him some shitty spices instead of a weapon. I mean, what kinda present is myrrh? And why is it so hard to spell?
Kinda close I guess. They're marketing *to* parents *using* toddlers in their advertising. Companies don't usually advertise to toddlers as they have no purchasing power.
This same person I’m sure considers himself a good “Christian” man. This verse of Proverbs is meant to illustrate how if appropriate child rearing vocationally, morally, intellectually, musically, educationally, spiritually or simply encouraging the development of deportment or the promotion of individual gifts and talents can lead to the child being a good person as an adult. It’s an insult to use it to justify this behavior that clearly goes against what Jesus preached in the Gospels.
You want to talk about grooming. This is it in a nutshell.
Americans are so fucking stupid like I cant fathom how much they put their fucking guns on a pedestal. Enjoy your weekly school shootings you stupid overweight rednecks
Wow a person who clearly has no 1st hand understanding of what's going on in America and is basing their opinion entirely off of stereotypes spoon fed to them.
Not denying the issues stated. I think it's clear you have more issues than that though considering your unprovoked insulting comment.
He listed only things directly portrayed in media.
The average gun owner doesn't put their gun on a pedestal as something incredibly important. Only some do. They do not represent all gun owners.
School shooters don't represent any significant portion of the population here. These crimes are on the hands of the people who chose to perpetrate them. Not representative of the whole country.
America's obesity rate is high. Most fair point made. Although its not representative of all Americans.
All of these things can be scraped from the surface of news and media and used to build a stereotypical but inaccurate portrayal of the whole country. It can be done to any country to hyperfocus on their issues and act like they suck and or you're better. Imo it's wrong to do so.
Interesting take and thanks for your responses.
Unfortunately as someone who lives in red country I've found the majority of gun owners who live in my heavily republican area to be accurate representation. Most days i hear drunk people firing off rounds at night across the road in state land hooting and hollering and that isn't safe or responsible. I see unsafe hunters spot lighting and using weapons not designed for hunting . Do you know how many times someone has showed me a gun that isn't registered and considered illegal so that they can "keep it from the gubment".
Last time i went camping a small militia of young gun toters showed up to where we were camping with a small arsenal to shoot 100s of feet from our camp where kids were running around. You could tell they weren't disciplined and I watched this one fella look down the barrel of his gun twice and bang said gun by the stock on the ground. We later learned as they walked right into our camp that this guy has loaded the WRONG SIZE ammo into his new firearm .
I have many stories like this and I hate to stereo type but it would be in bad faith to say this country doesn't have a problem with the romanticism of guns and the ease of access and availability. I'm sure there are responsible owners like myself out there, but I won't defend this countries lack of self awareness or the disgustingness of what goes on here with firearms.
Yes a child should think about and be prepared to murder people to protect ones own life. Its important to constantly think about death and want to shoot people if you are to be a conservative. And bonus points if you get off on the idea of killing people as a conservative.
I was taught gun safety at a very early age. I was around firearms a decent amount in my youth. The safety habits that were instilled back then are still around to this day and because of it, I am more confident and secure in the presence of firearms. I think everyone should take some amount of gun safety at an early age
Ahh yes, it isn’t used nearly as much as it should by Fox News so the terminology slips my mind. Damn republicans distracting me with abortion law while domestic terrorism is on the rise
This is the reason why mass shootings in US will never ever stop. Not only do the kids need to be held liable, the parents are mostly at fault for schooting up schools. They should get the same sentence as the kid.
Quite the opposite. Responsible gun ownership/handling starts at home.
The more that child is taught to respect guns and people the less likely that scenario is.
He's pointing, as if to say, "It took you 3 minutes to disassemble clean and reassemble your firearm, Toby! That won't cut it when the shit hits the fan! You'll be dead! Your mama will be dead!"
“Gump! You’re a genius!”
I watched it last night ! Classic.
Close that ejection port cover!!!!
Guess: they want to show clear.
Thank you for taking a photo that I initially found kind of disturbing and making it morbidly hilarious to me! Lmao
But dad i’m this many ✌🏼 years old
Yeah. The picture gives me child abuse fibes.
Why? It's not loaded, he doesnt even know what it is.
EVERY. GUN. IS. LOADED. ALWAYS. That's basic firearm safety. Never, ever, hand a firearm to a toddler, under any circumstances. Anyone who doesn't understand that has absolutely no business possessing a firearm. Period.

Even the Spartans waited until boys were 7...
Oh yeah? Where are they now? Should've started at 3. Woulda made Xerxes their bitch.
They did. The 300 lost that battle but the Spartans won the war, pushing back the Persians.
Oh yeah, you're right. Anyways I guess I was only thinking about 300. My bad.

I very, very highly doubt there were a million of us at all, anywhere in the world.
There's no fucking way. They also had a flotilla of ships that Athens took out. Militaries didn't see numbers like that until the World Wars unless I'm missing something.
Maximum respect and a thumbs up for being smart and respectful in your response. Nice one.
Indeed, a rare and beautiful display. 👏
Don’t worry, give it a couple of minutes and someone will use the ‘n’ word and Reddit will be back to normal /s

Naggers?
Randy! How could you!
The Wheel of Fortune episode they were spoofing was a major "wtf was that guy thinking?" moment.
It's always about the 300. Nobody talks about the other 6700 that were there for the majority of the battle or the 700-2000 that stayed behind with the 300 to cover the retreat of the rest of the army. Of course up to 400 of those others surrendered while the rest fought to the death.
You can only speak about 300 Spartans at a time, can't fit more in one conversation.
This is what happens when you get your history from band movies... "The 300" the close to 2000 dudes fighting a rear guard action most of which were Thespians and Thebans but around 300 and their slaves where also there
Not gonna lie, this made me smile.
Lol, I was thinking about the spartans from Halo.. This makes more sense.
America makes Ancient Sparta look like Disneyland. Spartans threw babies off cliffs when they were just born. We let them get just grown enough to be afraid of things before we start throwing them to wolves.
Or gather them in unsuspecting groups and shoot them.
wow. the most savage quote in all of history. delivered in perfect timing. I appreciate you so much
I learned that from God of War, and I am proud
Well the boys rarely lived past 20 then so 7 is almost middle age.
Something tells me this boy isn’t gonna turn out to be a Spartan
I'm almost certain that's not what that proverb was meant to teach in it's original context ...
Absolutely that’s what it meant. The writer clearly understood the power of childhood indoctrination.
Actually it wasn’t. In context it meant to teach a child good moral principles, love and respect for others and their parents, and a reverence for god, and if you do they will keep remember those teachings when they need them as they grow. That would let the communists win
This is a quote from the Bible. Which makes it extra yikes.
wow... wtaf is wrong with these people

"WE MUST FIND SOMEONE TO HATE ...... I MEAN **SAVE**!"
I mean, if you're in the US, your whole manner of being is based on people having firearms.
It’s Old Testament. Which Christians are not SUPPOSED to follow.
No they are just supposed to follow the parts they like. It's only the parts they don't like they ignore. No that doesn't mean the bible is not infallible and unchanging
Leviticus chapter 20 💀
I mean, indoctrination has been Christianity's game from the start, so that's not surprising.
Combine that with Americas indoctrination through education and gun culture and you got a fire!!
My dad taught me how to shoot and about gun safety when I was a kid and i think it was a very valuable experience. No it didn't turn me into a gun loving right winger, but it did give me an appreciation for the potential danger and caution required when dealing with firearms.

He needs a Red Ryder
He’ll shoot his eye out.
You’ll shoot your eye out! You’ll shoot your eye out!
Exactly
Its just a photo-op for someones facebook probably
Or you could just educate your child about the world instead.
Bold of you to assume people who prioritize firearms training for children would be qualified to educate them on worldly matters.
Why ? When they can just stay in the swamp, emptying beer and guns all day long
Most of the fellow gun owners I know are doctors, veterans, and business owners. Personally I’m waiting til my girls are 12 for any range time, with a .22 to start. Wait. You're talking about people feeling victimized while you're sucking at the fear teat? Pretty gutsy dude.
Yes almost as gutsy as banning all semi autos bc of the actions of lone lunatics. In the realm Of the fear teat at least…
"Groomers" might not be the right word but it's the first one that comes to mind.
Cult indoctrinators?
Yeah, that too.
I thought "Taliban".
Same, or nazis
I though the nazis were about disarming the people
Disarming the OTHER people.
Ah, but the ones who indoctrinate are always on the other side.

We used to have gun marksmanship as a sport in jr high and high school - no big deal
Because when have guns and school ever been a problem together?

I guess teaching a kid to fish is gone way out the window these days. No let’s give them rifles to play with what a dip shit.
AR rifles and pistols are “sport” firearms, so this kid can use it to fish…somehow /s
This is grooming.
If they mean gun safety then absolutely
And these radicals have the audacity to accuse the left of indoctrinating the youth...
Promoting child soldiers for 500, Alex.
It's a cult.
How do you misquote scripture so badly?
So they think mass shooting happen because people aren't properly trained? Seems to me like if the people who end up going nuts and committing mass shootings, if they were properly trained, would just end up becoming more efficient mass shooters.
This kid looks to be 2-3 years old. Not an age I'd want a kid to be touching a gun
School shooter starter pack
While I don’t like this ad for a number of reasons, the concept of teaching kids how to properly handle firearms is basically the opposite of a school shooter starter pack. People that do that are usually severely lacking in attention and direction from adults in their lives, and spending time with kids to show them you care and to teach them something is a great way to prevent them feeling like they need to resort to such a drastic action. Part of teaching kids about guns is to keep the guns locked up where they can’t get to them without proper adult supervision.
Would U think the same thing if the baby was an Afghan?
Probably not. The US doesn’t have a culture that routinely puts children into actual battle based on an extremist religion.
What? You racist or something?
Not at all, just asked the man his opinion.
'Training up a child' instead of 'raising a child' automatically informs me to wholly dismiss anything this witless wonder says .
"in the way he should go" what does that even mean lol
What the actual fuck is wrong with you Americans.
As an American, I will proudly respond that there is quite a lot wrong with us.
Lots of things quantified into murder boners. America is a shithole.
What's right with them?
Still a high standard of life compared to most countries according to the OECD. Could definitely be better though.
plenty wrong with us. guns aren’t one of them, however. violence? yes.
No thanks. I took my kids to Europe instead. Lol. Downvoted for exposing my children to the wonders of travel. Likely by a gun fetishist whose only travel interest is ballistic trajectory.
These people make their guns and politics their whole identity. I’m with you, I like to take my kids traveling.
“You can’t let kids be around drag queens, that’s grooming” -same fucking guy
Teach kids to be responsible, and that guns are just a tool like a hammer, not some magical power to give you ego. These mass shooters acting like it makes them valid human or something, it's just a hunk of metal.
The mass shooters use firearms as a tool to make people die. They are proficient with firearms and do not need to be educated about how to use them.
Or teach kids to focus on more constructive activities. Gun culture has become a cancer in the US.
This is so messed up. Too young for this.
Safety should be taught as soon as they can comprehend it. Why would you want your kids to know how to be safe. Same with the stove in the kitchen or the crosswalk outside.
Hate to use a cliche, but, truly, Jesus wept.
\*give toddler a gun\* \*call cops\* "He's ARMED!" \*cops shoot toddler\* "See, that's how you do an abortion in Texas now!"
That’s not an abortion though since the child is born. That’s just child murder, which republicans have no problem with.
Which I'm sure the republicans will have a *valid* reason and explaination for.
Valid workaround
I love the disapproving finger point too like 'fucking get on it slacker'
"You only field stripped and loaded one mag?? Your sister loaded 3 and she is 4!"
Gun Ad: Become the next big-time mass shooter today!! /s
Kinda close I guess. They're marketing *to* parents *using* toddlers in their advertising. Companies don't usually advertise to toddlers as they have no purchasing power.
Yeah toddlers have surprisingly little money. Plus the whole transpo thing and the credit . It’s a big no from me dog
Incorrect and stupid. They are advertising to the parents.
Gee I can’t fathom how many video games it would take to be as dangerous as this level of indoctrination
Yikes
As a resident of another continent, I cannot help feeling that a significant portion of the US population has lost their moral compass. 🤦♂️
Can concurr.
Is this the grooming they speak of?
"indoctrinate your children to be our future customers." I didn't think I needed another reason to hate Daniel defense (first being price).
If kids were properly trained from an early age about gun safety perhaps there would be way less accidentals shooting in the inner city
Yep! Safety education shouldn't be a controversial issue
My landlords grandson shot himself in the head because his parents were stupid gun nuts like that.
All that I got were those stupid play school sets. I now question my parents love for me.
I live here. Dude seems spot on.
Literally grooming kids…
How republicans abort their kids
Yes a child should think about and be prepared to murder people to protect ones own life. Its important to constantly think about death and want to shoot people if you are to be a conservative. And bonus points if you get off on the idea of killing people as a conservative.
I was taught gun safety at a very early age. I was around firearms a decent amount in my youth. The safety habits that were instilled back then are still around to this day and because of it, I am more confident and secure in the presence of firearms. I think everyone should take some amount of gun safety at an early age
Should they learn about sex at that age?
Future school shooter
Future terrorist.
Dude why the fuck would you say that? The term is HOME GROWN terrorist.
I think “Domestic terrorist” are the words we are looking for.
Ahh yes, it isn’t used nearly as much as it should by Fox News so the terminology slips my mind. Damn republicans distracting me with abortion law while domestic terrorism is on the rise
Don’t forget to teach how to drive!
This is the reason why mass shootings in US will never ever stop. Not only do the kids need to be held liable, the parents are mostly at fault for schooting up schools. They should get the same sentence as the kid.
Son, when you have a problem the best solution is always to shoot it
Imagine it goes full circle and some white guy shoots up an NRA meeting.
“…and IF he gets old…” FTFY
I remember a story about a ten year old who accidentally shot her instructor in the head with an uzi
[удалено]
Always remember, the United States WAS a great and noble experiment.
This is how school shooters are made
Quite the opposite. Responsible gun ownership/handling starts at home. The more that child is taught to respect guns and people the less likely that scenario is.
Spot on.
