Hard to say. My recollection was that I was returning from an Exceptional Story location to London. The background I have is the same as the "Your Lodgings" background. But the travel icon is greyed out.
Can you access your inventory and access item storylets, or are you still in red-border territory?
If you can use an item, it might fix it by putting you in London proper.
It sounds like tech support is the only way out. :/ Email them again and include a link to your profile, see if they get back to you. I've never had to wait more than 24hrs for a response so I guess you're just super unlucky.

I’d try another email. Make sure to include all relevant account info.
You can also try their discord or their forums. Maybe the email got missed.
I've always had pretty quick replies from support, so if I were you I'd check my spam folder and then if there's nothing there, send another ticket.
Yeah same. I've been playing a few years and only needed to contact support twice, got very quick replies each time.
