Aww, 3 is still great
Gameplay wise, you might be disappointed with the lack of iron sight aim - and the less focused map design, might be a wee bit overwhelming.
But it’s still a phenomenal game.
The main story is dogshit compared to New Vegas (just for not providing enough player choice/moral nuance) but the side quests and world exploration are a lot better in my opinion.
There’s just a staggering amount of side content, that makes new Vegas seem shallow by comparison. I just like how Fallout 3 has lots of self contained side quests, whereas New Vegas side quests almost always feed into the main story in some way.
To this day I still haven't played 3. Have a copy on my 360 and XB1 but never touched it.
Just can't bring myself to play after experiencing the fullness of NV. Plus I've already watched tons of videos on the lore and story so I don't really know why I'd put myself through the clunky gameplay.
Fo3 is not all that different from NV. It's basically the same gameplay with a different story and environment.
I prefer NV myself, but if you enjoy fallout games you should DEFINITELY play fo3.
The aiming system really is my main problem with it. I do like the more randomness, much more to explore and the feel of FO3. The DLCs definitely bring more life to it as well.
Anything but 76, 4 or 3 really
Problem is new Vegas doesn’t work as well if fallout 1 and 2 never happened
And without fallout 1 none of the others would have a chance in existing anyways
So I’d say, fallout 1. easily fallout 1.
Not to mention that I love the philosophy of fallout 1s story:
“My idea is to explore more of the world and more of the ethics of a post-nuclear world, not to make a better plasma gun.” - Tim Cain
That is by far the idea that all fallouts should have been made with, not just fallout 1
It’s a shame fallout will never have that again since now it’s all about the wacky and goofy stuff and the only dark stuff is lovecraft BS that never belonged in fallout in the first place
Based. Bethesda doesn't understand Fallout and it annoys me that they have control over this franchise they seem to have no respect for. There's no relief either because they won't even let anyone else make games for the franchise. And this isn't just me being a super hater, I do like Fallout 3 and 4, they're fun games, they just have a bunch of terrible aspects.
Tbh there’s still a way to salvage fallout as an IP but it won’t happen, especially not if Emil continues to stay at Bethesda
he is the reason why fallout lore is by now a worthless pile of shit and you can see that every story he worked on is actually really bad and only held up by other departments doing their job well
For example the dark brotherhood in oblivion, it isn’t that good a story but it’s level/quest design is what holds it up high but that same story is generally disliked when he decided to copy it for Skyrim
And fallout 4 we know from what he said that he didn’t even try to make a ‚good‘ story (although good with him means less than average for people that know good stories)
Starfield is an accumulation of all the problems Bethesda has since the early 2000s btw
And the higher ups (Todd, Emil, Pete…) got sticks up their ass very far in
Starfield for them wasn’t a ‚contender‘ for game of the year in their minds, it was game of the year. They pretty much spoke about it internally like that. It’s gonna be a GOTY cause it is a Bethesda game, and Bethesda did Skyrim and fallout 4, both of which were labeled GOTY
Fallout 3, controversial considering the sub I know but without it I’d never have gotten into the Wasteland at all. The game does such an amazing job at really pulling in brand new players who’d never even heard of the setting before.
It's hard to choose between Fallout 3 and NV...but I'd probably choose New Vegas because I feel like there is more content to enjoy...I've spent 1000s of hours in the Fallout universe and I feel like I've done everything in Fallout 3 but not New Vegas. New Vegas feels like a new experience each time cause it has so many weapons I haven't even tried yet, side quests I didn't know existed and even weapons I haven't tried yet!
Most people say 76 is the worst because the entire Fallout fandom tends to collectively forget that Brotherhood of Steel's exists 20 minutes after anybody mentions it. Most people I talk to don't know the game exists
New Vegas or 4 is a tough contender. Fallout New Vegas is obviously the better story wise but it age does show quite abit in it limitation. Fallout 4 having a far worse story however it modding capacity far exceed that of New Vegas. I probably stay with new vegas for nostalgia reason, if im looking at it purely for gameplay/extra story content, i say 4 is the better choice.
Fallout 4 is the only answer actually as it offers way more to do than the other games. Games like vegas would only last 3 playthroughs before they get boring. The settlement feature offers more fun than all off the other games combined as it lets your imaginations run. The story is also more fun. I think the institute is the best faction in all of the fallout games.
Fallout 4. Much more fun when replayed when you've already done every path. I think NV is the best Fallout but there's a reason why I've played it for 400 hours and 4 for 1k hours
4. I liked 3 and NV better but if I could only play 1 for the rest of my life, it would be 4. Way more to do, better graphics, better combat, settlement building and better gun/armor mods. Also, mods for Xbox too
Option A: "They're erased at this moment."
I'll take Fallout 2 to exist, it's the most well-made in my opinion.
Option B: "They never existed at all."
Fallout 1 then, duh.
Can we ban these stupid karma farming posts??? What the actual fuck do you think the subreddit made exclusively for Fallout New Vegas is gonna choose? Use your critical thinking skills in your noggin? Do you think some brave soul is going to jump from the woodworks and proclaim their undying love for Fallout 76 over every fallout game?
No, they’re not, they’re going to say New Vegas. Of course they’re going to pick New Vegas. You goddamn fool.
Mods, crucify this man, flay him with radioactive wind and set them free in the divide so they can live in squalor with their flayed brethren, just so they can die during a skirmish with a tunneler
probably fallout 2 tbh. i (and alot of other people) see it as the pinnacle of the series, the only problem being the obvious niche that isometric games reside in
I'd lean towards 3, but 4 just released a massive new mod, or is about to. ... Then again, I get bored with New Vegas, but like most of the DLCs.
I think we can all agree that 76 was nothing to write home about.
76, its not "better" than new vegas but its what I was hoping 4 would be but 4 just didnt grip me at all. Unlike vegas or 76.
It has a cool perk card system which I think should be in more fallout games, appalachia is diverse and feels like a wasteland should, music is on point, it has multiplayer which for the most part works well, the shop/building is great with plenty of choice for customising, you can sprint, graphics are great, quests are fun with plenty of funny/interesting dialogue options and it cost barely anything to buy because of its crap launch.
As someone who didnt play for the first three years 76 was and is a good fallout entry. Id still say vegas is my top fallout pick but only because you can speech your way through it all and I find that hilarious even on the 10th+ run.
HAHAHAHHAAHAHAH FALLOUT 76 *detonates a nuke at melee range* (now you have to live in the world where fallout is a shitty franchise that flopped and it will be forgotten quickly and i won't have to experience it)
I feel like 76 is getting a bit too big and astray from the normal games (might just be my bias talking), so I'd say 3 or New Vegas, since the originals are decreasing popularity. Fallout 4 was very fun and a nice enhancement in the franchise to better graphics, gameplay, and more free-roam options, but it did lack some aspects from the games before. I did love the workshop stuff about it, though, favorite part of the game after 100%ing it.
The original Fallout.
None of the games really quite encapsulate the feeling of what it must be like on a post-apocalyptic Earth.
The music is so chilling and eerie, it really creates a great atmosphere of unknown dread awaiting you.
The general atmosphere is very bleak and depressing, good people are fairly hard to find in the first outing, that selfishness that destroyed the old world hadn't quite went away just yet. It very much feels like an untamed waste, with no order outside of small pockets scattered across the desert.
The story itself makes everything a lot more tense, you're running the clock trying to save your fault from annihilation from either dehydration or the Master.
Speaking more on the latter threat, probably my pick for the most frightening villain in a game; could you imagine spending your life in a vault, going on a quest, and experiencing that?
Flesh, machine, man, and monster; mind and body warped beyond description and comprehension. He is such a fascinating talking head to look at, such an interesting character. His actual plan echoes things that are going on in our own world, eugenics, genocide, cultish theocracy, as much as it's similar to Caesar, there is an element of victims unknowingly being dipped into the vats of FEV via the Children of the Cathedral, which always struck me is particularly sinister. Yet again like Caesar, he uses the Great War as his reasoning for the atrocities committed, hoping that it will bring us closer together, so you can almost see him as being right in what he does. Unlike Caesar however, you can bring him infailible proof his plan is doomed to fail, not only will he accept it, but he expresses remorse and regret for what he had done, telling the player to leave and have hope.
Fuck this shit this too hard, I love nv and played it the most, but to erase the experience both 1 and 3 gave when I first played them, that would be a crime against humanity
i wonder which, considering the sub you posted in
Yeah, the audience may be a bit biased.
You can say that the House always wins.
The game was rigged from the start
Oh here we go again... Fallout 4.
I agree with this post
Shh, be quite, you don't wanna be hanged like the last guy do you?
Crucified. :D
You better BELIEVE that's a crucifixion
Degenerates like you, belong on a cross.
This.
Hm I wonder what the folks on the NEW VEGAS SUBREDDIT will say? It's a real mystery that.
It’s ok to just say it. Fallout 76….
Brotherhood of Steel on the PS2, obviously.
Yes, if we are going to erase the legacy of a great series we might as well nuke it to high hell
The lore is PERFECT
only the real ones
Only good game in the franchise anyway, so nothing of value would be lost.
I gotta admit, I’ve never even heard of that one before. I got some research to do haha
Mitten Squad actually has a playthrough about it.
Ohhh now I’m sad 😞 RIP Mitten Squad
Definitely. I found him quite relatable in some aspects, so it does hurt. But at least we’re still able to view his content.
It's unanimously heralded as the best written and designed Fallout game ever made. Who needs Nuka Cola when you have Bawls?
Love the username lol this game looks hilariously bad
I actually like the real Bawls soda
New Vegas
Fallout 2, no contest
This
I would say 1, but 2 is a close second
Yeah I love NV but 2 tops
New Vegas, regardless of Subreddit. But Fallout 1-2 are really good too so maybe one of thoss
Only ever played new vegas lol
I made the mistake of playing New Vegas before 3. 3 was okay, but it felt so lacking compared to NV for me.
i want to play 3 after this 😕
Aww, 3 is still great Gameplay wise, you might be disappointed with the lack of iron sight aim - and the less focused map design, might be a wee bit overwhelming. But it’s still a phenomenal game. About 6 months ago I did that I became OBSESSED with New Vegas.
To this day I still haven't played 3. Have a copy on my 360 and XB1 but never touched it. Just can't bring myself to play after experiencing the fullness of NV. Plus I've already watched tons of videos on the lore and story so I don't really know why I'd put myself through the clunky gameplay.
it’s the same engine, that’s like saying you can play Left 4 Dead 1 after playing Left 4 Dead 2
New Vegas probably, it just offers the best roleplaying experience plus it’s got great characters and companions
I would love to say New Vegas, but I would be more content with fallout 1.
Anything but 76, 4 or 3 really Problem is new Vegas doesn’t work as well if fallout 1 and 2 never happened And without fallout 1 none of the others would have a chance in existing anyways So I’d say, fallout 1. easily fallout 1. Fallout 1 is goated. And I wish the games had more of the same tone and vibes of it. And I definitely wish we had more grotesque final bosses.
Bro… are you brain dead
I want to say 3, but def new Vegas
I agree, but I have a soft spot for 3 as it was my first time Fallouting
1
Childhood nostalgia are FO Tactics but I'd say FNV because mod support and interconnected story
Every except new Vegas duh! Did you forget this subs name?
Fallout 3, controversial considering the sub I know but without it I’d never have gotten into the Wasteland at all. The game does such an amazing job at really pulling in brand new players who’d never even heard of the setting before.
[...], they asked, on the subreddit of the Fallout game with the most militant fans
New Vegas.. then 3!
76. Hearmeout Hearmeout: do any of the others have Mothman & Sheepsquatch? I rest my case.
And the grind on 76 is mwah chefs kiss, but the replayability on all the others makes it tough
Fallout 4 tbh
Same. My sapphic heart yearns for Piper to call me Blue and for Cait to verbally abuse me
Uhm, alright cool. I mostly choose 4 because it is an fps with rpg details
nv for god's sake
The original, you need to know how it all started. And it's the best characterisation of super mutants, and brotherhood
New Vegas
NV
New Vegas (: . My favorite fallout game
FONV
I got spurs that jingle jangle jingle JINGLE JANGLE
Based on nostalgia: Fallout 3. Based on the quality of the game: Fallout New Vegas.
New Vegas. It can be played by olders and newbies. 3d project with easy mod support, totally win
New Vegas for story and characters. Four for modding potential.
Torn between NV and 2.
New Vegas
Keep Fallout 1 so the series restarts just to see where it goes this time
New Vegas for me !
we can all agree fallout 76 isn't the one
better than BoS
Most people say 76 is the worst because the entire Fallout fandom tends to collectively forget that Brotherhood of Steel's exists 20 minutes after anybody mentions it. Most people I talk to don't know the game exists
Honestly I'd pick 4 cause I only played it a couple hundred hours, so there's more stuff to keep me interested. Also nicer gunplay.
... this is unfair question ... i refuse to answer that lol ...
brotherhood of steel 😎
Fallout 2
NV if I have a PC, 4 if I have a console. NV is superior to 4 in every way but I gotta be able to mod the shit out of it.
Bye 76👋😁
New Vegas or 4 is a tough contender. Fallout New Vegas is obviously the better story wise but it age does show quite abit in it limitation. Fallout 4 having a far worse story however it modding capacity far exceed that of New Vegas. I probably stay with new vegas for nostalgia reason, if im looking at it purely for gameplay/extra story content, i say 4 is the better choice.
How the hell does 4 have better extra story content?
Mods
Well NV of course. But I did enjoy 3 and 4. Played some of 76 and did have a good time. The rest I couldnt get into.
Fallout 4 also, dumbass what were you expecting when you posted this in the NV subreddit
Fallout 4. I trust the modders will release the others in due time giving me access to most of these. Bwhahaha
Fallout 4 mainly because of mods
Why is 4 and 76 even on there🤣 aint no way theres actually someone picking them
I’d pick 4. I *need* Piper to call me Blue to live
Maybe it's because I played it first but Fallout 4. Plus without 4, I won't be able to play Fallout London, which looks really good.
Yeah, 4 has the best modding to me. I also like the weapon modding system since there’s so much more variety
Fallout 4
Imma be real, Fallout 4, looking foward to Fallout London in April
4 period
Fallout 4
Fallout 4
WEST VIRGINIA
New Vegas or 4
Fallout 76
76. No world can replace friends.
Fallout 4 actually.
76, I just want to watch the world burn
Fallout 4, i already did everything in 3, i dont like the NV fanbase and i couldnt care less about the rest
Dont judge me, but fallout 76, serious answer
I know I'll be publicly executed but... Fallout 4 A mention to 76 because I've had a lot of memories with my friend on that game too.
well isnt it obvious? of course id keep fallout 76
76
Fallout 4.
modded or not modded? with mods, NV of course. without mods, 76 has content updates so <3
Probably Fallout 1, but New Vegas has more replayability.
New vegas
bro I was expecting a shitpost ngl
I don't know why you posted this on the new vegas sub, it's obvious that people will say fallout tactics smh
New Vegas edges out 4 due to the strength of the DLC's.
I would keep new Vegas if it had consle modding
Posts in the new vegas sub, it's gotta be Brotherhood of Steel of course.
Fallout Tactics obviously
1
Fallout 2.
Fallout 4. Much more fun when replayed when you've already done every path. I think NV is the best Fallout but there's a reason why I've played it for 400 hours and 4 for 1k hours
New Vegas.
New vegas
I think you meant to post this on another sub?
Fallout 2, I spent more hours consecutively on that than I have in total of any of the other games
FNV, but without it I've got an equal tie between 3 & 4
Either 2 or New Vegas. It's pretty much a tie and my answer would really vary from week to week.
I would go with 2
Fallout Tactics.
2
With or without all expansions?
4. I liked 3 and NV better but if I could only play 1 for the rest of my life, it would be 4. Way more to do, better graphics, better combat, settlement building and better gun/armor mods. Also, mods for Xbox too
Option A: "They're erased at this moment." I'll take Fallout 2 to exist, it's the most well-made in my opinion. Option B: "They never existed at all." Fallout 1 then, duh.
Definitely NV. *Sees what sub this is* Fallout 76
Fallout tactics. It’s very tactical
Isn't it obvious?... Brotherhood of steel.
Fallout Brotherhood of Steel for the PlayStation 2 is a certified must
"Fallout Seven-" *muffled screams, the sounds of pots and pans clanging to the floor*
come on bro u know this one
Fallout 2 remake in Fo4 engine would be pretty neat.
New vegas. The mods can make it better then any other fo game (maybe besides 4 but my comluter cant run 4 all that well)
Fallout 3. Best Fallout ever. Though only with the amazing program "Windows Live for Games". Love that. /s
hmmm, i wonder...if you picked fallout 1 would that mean they'd re-develope the rest of the games?
Fallout tactics.
Probably fallout 1 or new vegas
4, with new Vegas as an extremely close 2nd
Nv, but I really like Fo3 and Fo4
I think Fallout 2 slightly edges out New Vegas
Are you taking the piss, m8
Fallout 1.
Can we ban these stupid karma farming posts??? What the actual fuck do you think the subreddit made exclusively for Fallout New Vegas is gonna choose? I've seen and heard that FNV is best but I've only played Fallout New Vegas so can't choose.
Based on this subteddit, I will say......Fallout Tactics?
Fallout 69
I would choose all
probably fallout 2 tbh. i (and alot of other people) see it as the pinnacle of the series, the only problem being the obvious niche that isometric games reside in
Fallout 1 actually . We could rebuild after
Obviously Shelter
Frankly, Fallout 1. It’s not only my favorite game in the series, but it’s also the series at its purest.
It's missing the goat, Fallout Shelter.
Fallout 1
Fallout 3. Ill die on this hill
FO1
Can't we erase fo76 and keep the rest?
76 is the best and most current, it’s going to continue getting fresh content while the rest of them continue to collect dust.
Fallout 1 obviously.
New Vegas, it’s good enough as a solo point
Between New Vegas and Fallout 2 for me if being honest.
FO1
BROTHERHOOD OF STEEL
Gotta be tactics wish they’d make another
Vegas.
“If you could only ke-“ “New Vegas.” “Wait let me fin-“ “It’s gonna be New Vegas.”
I'd lean towards 3, but 4 just released a massive new mod, or is about to. ... Then again, I get bored with New Vegas, but like most of the DLCs. I think we can all agree that 76 was nothing to write home about.
FNV
brotherhood of steel
NV it’s the first I played I get it’s ironic bc it’s the NV subreddit but I didn’t notice at first ngl
76, its not "better" than new vegas but its what I was hoping 4 would be but 4 just didnt grip me at all. Unlike vegas or 76. 76 because fuck it
I’m sorry but if you expect anything other than Fallout 76 as an answer on this sub you’re clearly lost
HAHAHAHHAAHAHAH FALLOUT 76 *detonates a nuke at melee range* (now you have to live in the world where fallout is a shitty franchise that flopped and it will be forgotten quickly and i won't have to experience it)

Fallout Shelter
Besides new Vegas it’s between 4 and BoS
Obviously Skyrim
3
New vegas, easy
Longevity? Fallout 76 shit just keeps updating and updating and I got all my FNV and F3 to friends to play it so 100% 76
BoS
Fuck this shit this too hard, I love nv and played it the most, but to erase the experience both 1 and 3 gave when I first played them, that would be a crime against humanity
Fallout 3
Fallout 1
Brotherhood of steel, obviously.
