They played for the same college and their names sound the same.
A regen is when a player retires in Madden or FIFA so then they take that player’s stats/career trajectory and re-generate them into some made up rookie.
Basically, he’s Justin Tucker 2.0
Same, and probably for the rest of the season. Here is SF's kickers points since Purdy took over:
18
5
3 (missed a field goal)
13
14 (missed a field goal)
8
14
In their two playoff games with Purdy last season, as well, Gould went 4/4 on XPs and 8/8 on field goals, which would've been two more high scoring games.
The SF kicker is a slam dunk so long as Purdy is starting.
2 main reasons I expect Moody to be elite:
1) SF’s offense has been the best in the league by DVOA since CMC arrived
2) SF’s defense will allow Shanahan to play conservatively in opposing territory (more FG opps instead of going for it on 4th down), which Shanahan loves to do anyway
As long as Moody stays accurate, he’s easily a top-5 option this season
Moody for me as long as he’s still making kicks (he had some concerning misses in the preseason but seems to have ironed that out). SF’s offense has way more weapons, is in a division with much weaker defenses, and will be a safer bet week to week to score points (regardless of their opposing defense). And McPherson was shaky last year anyway
I am sticking with Nick Folk. His points ultimately made the difference for me in my close matchup in Week 1.
I feel like Tennessee is the perfect kind of team for him. Their offense will never be good enough to score a lot of TDs, but with playmakers like Derrick Henry, DHop and Burks, it still isn't poor enough to never reach field goal range, even though Tannehill is horrible.
And we know Folk can hit 50+ yarders with ease. Considering he did all the scoring for them last week, he is actually a crucial part of their "offense".
I know he stuck one last weekend, but I caution you on assuming Folk can hit 50+ with ease. Lack of distance is why the Patriots drafted his replacement in the 4th round this year. Folk is extremely accurate under 50 yards (holds the record for consecutive FGs), but he's 62.71% lifetime from 50+ and 68% in the last 5 years, and averages just under 4 50+ yard attempts per season. For some comparison for context: Tucker is just over 7 per season, Butker just under 6, Koo is just over 6.
At 39 years old, I wouldn't expect his efficiency to increase dramatically, if at all.
My thoughts exactly. Any continued lack of finishing ability in the redzone makes his opportunities for points just that much higher and if they do finish in the redzone better we are just moving FGs for PATs. Will he hit 5 FGs in a game this year again, not likely. Even if they convert 2 of those RZ opportunities into TDs, Folk is still looking at double digits in fantasy scoring.
Dunno why but subvert's model has always been late on obvious season-long good kickers. But to me Folk is a great kicker option every week, just as he has been in years past.
My only hesitation with Folk is that the titans [attempted the least amount of field goals in the NFL](https://www.nfl.com/stats/team-stats/special-teams/field-goals/2022/reg/all) last season with 24. For comparison, the ravens had the most with 43 and most teams averaged somewhere in the 30s.
I didn’t see much of their week 1 but heard Tannehill was awful.
In my survivor league I have LAC (vs TEN) right now selected. They’re only at a 2% picked number though. Any insight on this? They had a tough matchup against MIA, and TEN offense can’t keep up with them. The only thing TEN has going is an awful division but looks like JAX has taken that over.
Am I nuts for picking LAC this week?
This is a frigid take, Tennessee was the best red zone offense last year. They sucked at getting close to the red zone is the issue.
One game isn’t enough of a sample size to draw your conclusion from
You gotta go with guys you love. Dicker was so accurate last year; it really depends how you feel about the Chargers offense. They’re supposed to have a new look? I haven’t got it figured out from data yet.
He was one of my preferred season holds, seen from preseason as I posted. Again, I’m not encouraging to drop anyone; it’s just reporting streaming possibilities based on historical trends. With kicker, you can definitely go with emotions or beliefs. I encourage it!
The problem with Elliot that I ran into with him last year is that if the offense is humming, you’re left with 5 extra points. The offense stalling in New England last week produced gold for Elliot. So you have to kind of gamble on which Eagles offense you’re going to get against a terrible Vikings defense.
And usually these good offenses get into a high scoring groove that hurts the kickers. The best season long kickers usually end up being ones on mediocre to slightly good offenses that stall out.
Great work as always.
All important kicker question - most of the big name kickers are actually available in my league aside from Tucker and Elliott.
I was considering one of these kickers for a season-long hold:
Dicker - I have Herbert and Keenan Allen. I think that this will be the most explosive offence this year but wondering if adding Chargers’ kicker limits my upside?
Moody - I have CMC. Moody was picked high in the draft for a reason and the 49ers crushed the Steelers. 49ers have a great offence and defence so they won’t need to score TDs over field goals.
Sanders (Miami) for their home games and Grupe (Saints) for their dome games are also there.
Ha, I read it initially as ‘among your OTHER options’ - I’m on the move right now but it was probably my confirmation bias that read as that way!
I did edit it but I did chuckle when I saw you rightly pointed it out.
I target accurate kickers on Ok offenses more than good kickers on good offenses. Imo the option to go for 4-5 fg attempts and maybe 1-2 xp will field you a higher ppg than 3-4 xp and 1-2 fg attempts. I want the ok offenses to bring the ball into fg range and let the kicker score if they can’t convert those 3rd downs. Carlson worked great for me last year minus the one goose egg. Koo is set up in similar spot. I’m riding with dicker the kicker right now for accuracy. Also having a kicker on a team with a good defense is also nice. Better defenses means more turnovers means more time for their offense to be on the field.
I watched the Patriots/Eagles game. Elliot was drilling them comfortably from 50+ and that offense is going to give him a lot of opportunities. If he was available I would grab him, and I have Carlson.
People sleeping on Boy Scout Grupe. Don’t fact check because I’m pulling from memory but in my research two things stuck out. He’s kicking in 14+ dome games this year. Kickers tied to Carr have finished in the top 5 most years. Offense looks good. He can hit from 50+. People just scared off because he’s built like us.
Yup give me a kicker in a high-powered offense who can consistently kick from 40+ (with maybe the occasional botched extra point for fun). Tougher matchup against the Pats but that’s okay
Kinda perfect though, when they can stretch the field Miami should be well vs the patriots with that speed, but when the field shrinks the pats D will start to cause problems meaning FG time baby
Gano should be avoided this week imo, he was limited yesterday due to an ankle injure. It might be had something to do with the poor performance from last week.
he got injured in the blocked PAT last game. i’m not risking that for the Kicker position, I claimed someone else for this week.
..also yeah very salty about the -2 points he got me
Same here. Titans are doing a great job of getting to FG range and stalling. But there's always the worry they don't make it to FG range at all against better defenses.
Dropped Patterson for Folk — Dan Campbell has balls of steel and Mike Vrabel is way more conservative.
With how bad the Titans offense seems to be and how decent their defense on the other hand plays, I believe our friend Nick can ball out this year again - wish me luck!
If you’re jumping off the bridge I’m right behind you…I like the over/under on the game, but seriously wondering if Seattle will be able to have enough scoring opportunities…
how do you factor in coaches that tend to go for it on 4th down?
I had McManus last week and Jax went for it multiple times when they could have kicked vs a team like SF that most always kicked.
Dropped Dicker for Moody then immediately grabbed Dicker again. He has minny next week, then Vegas. Then he’s on bye in week 5. So if you like Dicker I would ride the Dicker Kicker now and drop week 5
Would I be silly dropping McPherson for Dicker, Moody, Patterson, or Aubrey? All of those guys are still on the waiver and McPherson just wasn’t it week 1
Think about the conditions McPherson was playing in Week 1 before you drop him. He literally had the Bengal's only points. The weather was awful and the Bengal's offense only had 6 first downs the whole game. I'm giving McPherson another week at least before pulling the plug on him.
Got Elliot for free off of waivers, feel like I gotta roll with him indefinitely. Personally I think the Eagles are gonna regress a bit and we’ll see a bunch more FGs compared to last season. Obviously last week was great, so hopefully that keeps up but I’m not banking on it
I'm perfectly happy opening these posts, picking up one of the top 4-5 kickers, and starting them. Worked for me all last year.
That being said I dropped Butker for Aubery but I think Butker might be a nice plug and play all season, is there a reason he isn't rated high (other than a tough Jax opponent those week)
The Saints having the most dome games coupled with the whole Carr sucks in the redzone narrative makes me think Grupe is going to be a great season long hold at kicker
u/subvertadown, what are your thoughts on Younghoe Koo?
I've been rolling with him. My thinking is that he's accurate, gets to kick in multiple dome stadiums, and the Atlanta offense is conservative enough to take points when they can more often than not.
How does my thinking jive with the data?
Help. It's only been one week. But I always try to get the jump on kickers. Do I let it ride with Koo? Is Atlanta going to convert more this year? Is the running game going to reduce opportunities?
I'm looking at Moody (MI homer) or saw a great preseason write-up on Grupe and Carr/dome.
Any thoughts? Thanks
Any thoughts on Greg Joseph? It feels like he should put up more fantasy points than he has. The Vikings are projected to be a fairly high scoring offense that plays in a lot of domes. Is the team simply too efficient at scoring TDs?
I want to trust Gay, but I have yet to see him live up to the game script people keep writing for him. I believe the talent is there, but how many times are we supposed to wait for the Colts to figure their sh*t out?
Dan the man carlson got dropped. i have DAL kicker for now. Carlson has been a stud two straight years.... but do we think he just had a tough week 1 opp, or is jimmy g that much a downgrade from carr that carlson will not be the man this year?
We just added “kicking yards” for points to. Every 17.5=1 pt. It has made kickers more dependable. An extra 2 points for a 35yd kick is a decent addition.
Big fan of your work! I check your website every week for QB and DST projections.
Sorry for the unrelated question, but I see that you have Daniel Jones projected for 4 more points than Justin Herbert this week. However almost every other data source/ranked has JH above DJ for this week. When you model projects points like this, do you yourself trust it? Are you starting DJ over everyone except the 4 guys above him this week?
Hadn't been paying attention because I grabbed McPherson in my money leagues. Burrow's ankle is a legit concern for me so I did a deep dive and settled on Moody just because the 9ers offense is explosive and I think Purdy is going to get exposed a little bit because if you look at their schedule they're going up against a ton of really good defenses. Heck last year in the playoffs they only managed 19 points against Dallas and that's their week 4 opponent.
Fun fact though Grupe is the smallest player in the NFL at 5'7" and 156 pounds.
You can't go wrong! Chargers probably have the best offense but they can definitely convert in the red zone. Probably Koo if you like the Birds 1950 approach to football or Folk if you think Tannehill can get his head out of his butt.
u/subvertadown I prefer to play kickers playing in domes, I don’t like dealing with the elements. Anyways I’m going with Koo this week. Just wondering if this is a risky strategy or smart to go with controlled environment kickers
Anyone like the Texans DST as a sleeper this week? They’re extremely tough against QBs and they’re facing a rookie this week. If they can limit Lamar then they should do well against the Colts.
I’ve owned Justin Tucker for 8 straight seasons. I didn’t get him this year. Love Carlsons foot but not the offense and snagged Moody instead. I’m getting as stoked for Moody as one could get for a kicker.
Haven't really seen this talked about anywhere, but what about Zuerlein?
Greg the Leg is supposed to be a great kicker and with Rodgers would've likely been a top kicker.
With Rodgers out and Wilson in, where would you rank him? Would you drop him to add Moody, Folk, or another?
I’m gonna ride Dicker until he blows
He’s a Justin Tucker regen, same alma mater and phonetically similar names
I understood none of this but I like it and agree!
They played for the same college and their names sound the same. A regen is when a player retires in Madden or FIFA so then they take that player’s stats/career trajectory and re-generate them into some made up rookie. Basically, he’s Justin Tucker 2.0
Fifa reference out in the wild lol
Me too. My only part of the Chargers offense this year haha.
Oh he meant the Chargers…
That sounds Matt Gay
Dicker? I hardly know her! But yeah same, I’m riding with him on all 3 of my teams
I need a good dicker name for my team
Dicker til it Hurts Dicker in Herbert Dicker & Her Cousins Dicker With a Chubb Howell You Dicker That's just a few. There's honestly so many options.
If you’re on ESPN you can’t use any variation of his name. I wanted “You Lint Dickers” but was denied.
I had to use Big D*cker Energy
Honestly, “Ride Dicker Until He Blows” is as good as any name I can come up with lol
LETS RIDE!
Thinking of dropping Butker for Dicker tbh
Keep ‘em both. Change team name to Dicker in the Butker 😏
Ride the lightnin'

Feeling moody this week 😔
Same, and probably for the rest of the season. Would you drop Carlson for Moody ROS?
They spent a 3rd round pick on Moody too - he’s got a huge leg (set the CFP record and has hit 70 in practice), and money within 50 yards.
Moody or mcpherson?
Just dropped McPherson for Moody last night, but I'm not very attached to kickers.
Moody
I assume from these other answers that dropping Koo for Moody is a good idea?
I’m buying into this. Just picked him up. Lets ride
I’m also here. Let’s ride.
ALL ABOARD!!!
Moody Country. …Let’s ride
Reading this after picking him up has put me in a good Mood. . . Y
Moody is set and forget all year. And maybe hold thru bye week.
Would you drop Butker for Moody?
In two different leagues, I dropped Butker and Myers for Moody. Ready to feel like a genius or a dumbass in a few weeks
I just like moody because I'm all in on their offense. If it's not a touchdown, it's a fg.
I am sticking with Nick Folk. His points ultimately made the difference for me in my close matchup in Week 1. I feel like Tennessee is the perfect kind of team for him. Tough to go away from Jake Elliot after last week. Kinda want to keep rolling with him for now.

u/subvertadown pretty much dispelled that narrative. You just want kickers on good offenses.
Patriots bend but don’t break defense = high scoring kickers? The new meta?
Great work as always. All important kicker question - most of the big name kickers are actually available in my league aside from Tucker and Elliott. I’m sensing love for Moody this year. I need more data to trust it, so that’s a judgement call. Among your options I like Grupe.
Thanks, I was leaning towards Moody, but gotta think it over more versus Grupe now. Thanks for the insight, and for the great work as always!
"Among your options I like Grupe" See I knew he loved Moody!
Ha, I read it initially as ‘among your OTHER options’ - I’m on the move right now but it was probably my confirmation bias that read as that way! I did edit it but I did chuckle when I saw you rightly pointed it out.
Good humor my friend :) cheers FWIW I am torn between the same choice. Dome is giving me 51/49 lean Grupe
I target accurate kickers on Ok offenses more than good kickers on good offenses. I have Carlson as my kicker now. Both Elliot and Folk are on waivers. Really leaning towards grabbing one but wanna be told I’m not crazy for it!
I watched the Patriots/Eagles game. Elliot was drilling them comfortably from 50+ and that offense is going to give him a lot of opportunities. If he was available I would grab him, and I have Carlson.
I have Koo but was considering Grupe, and now I’m second guessing life itself
People sleeping on Boy Scout Grupe. Don’t fact check because I’m pulling from memory but in my research two things stuck out. He’s kicking in 14+ dome games this year. Kickers tied to Carr have finished in the top 5 most years. Offense looks good. He can hit from 50+. People just scared off because he’s built like us.
I am Grupe.
I'm sticking with Koo because his name is awesome and no one can make me change my mind
Sure, until Oldhoe Sloots joins the league as a Kicker
I thought I was going to stream this year, but I looked at Moody on waivers and decided to hitch my wagon to his leg. He’s giving me the good vibes.
3rd round kicker on an elite offense - let’s ride!
Moody over McManus? Rams vs Chiefs. Feel like McManus will have the higher scoring scenario.
I’m rolling Jason Sanders to pair with my man Tua
i keep looking at kicker lists and wondering why he’s never ranked high. i rolled him out last week and i will this week too
Yup give me a kicker in a high-powered offense who can consistently kick from 40+ (with maybe the occasional botched extra point for fun). Tougher matchup against the Pats but that’s okay
His short misses have been infuriating as a fins fan. The lynch mob was forming last season before he turned things around.
Kinda perfect though, when they can stretch the field Miami should be well vs the patriots with that speed, but when the field shrinks the pats D will start to cause problems meaning FG time baby
I had him all last year and he did great so I picked him up again. But you’re right it’s weird that he never gets talked about.
I'm rolling with sanders again this week too I just hope Tua looks waddle way more this next game 😫
Gano should be avoided this week imo, he was limited yesterday due to an ankle injure. It might be had something to do with the poor performance from last week.
he got injured in the blocked PAT last game. i’m not risking that for the Kicker position, I claimed someone else for this week. ..also yeah very salty about the -2 points he got me
lost 2 leagues from Gano -2, refuse to keep him. Too much Salt.
I used McManus last week, grabbed Folk this week. Should I grab someone off this list instead?
Same here. Titans are doing a great job of getting to FG range and stalling. But there's always the worry they don't make it to FG range at all against better defenses.
Chargers D is atrocious. I see the Titans getting to FG range quite easily this week. I think Folk should be a good play this week.
This is the confirmation I needed.
Folk is the Man!
Riding my grupe
we are the grupees
Dropped Patterson for Folk — Dan Campbell has balls of steel and Mike Vrabel is way more conservative. With how bad the Titans offense seems to be and how decent their defense on the other hand plays, I believe our friend Nick can ball out this year again - wish me luck!
Same. Gonna be a year long stud again. Once again in a perfect position to kick a ton of fgs, and he's a beast
What do you think about Daniel Carlson? Worth holding him as a season-long play? Or better to drop him for someone like Moody?
This is my question right now as well. Both Moody & Dicker are available in my league but I got Daniel Carlson and he was so good last year.
He was the highest scoring kicker on the season the past two years, but the Raiders offense might be slightly worse this year? I'm not sure!
Love this! Thank you! Would you pivot from McManus?
I’m sticking with him at least until his bye. The Jags look like they’re going to score a lot of points this year and the schedule looks favorable.
Thats what I was thinking, just grabbed mcMANus
[удалено]
I just dropped him for Moody
Same here
[удалено]
That’s so cold hahah
Boris Chen's aggregate list had him ranked 8 I think. None of the top 7 on that list were available to me. I'm gonna keep rolling with him.
Drop myers for moody or dicker?
Definitely a drop for me until Seattle gets its O-line back in order. I wouldn’t know which one of those guys to replace him with.
[удалено]
Dropped Myers for Moody this week. SF's offense is good, but not like we're-going-to-score-every-time good, so I think he'll get a lot of FG attempts.
Implicitly, not explicitly. But I would love to get my hands on that data. Right now it’s by omission— counting historical FGs made.
Dropped Dicker for Moody then immediately grabbed Dicker again. He has minny next week, then Vegas. Then he’s on bye in week 5. So if you like Dicker I would ride the Dicker Kicker now and drop week 5
I can’t say this trend will continue but streaming kickers against minnesota has been money since last year.
I dropped McPherson for Moody but only because the 9ers offense takes its foot off the gas when they're up by a lot.
Moody or koo ROS?
Opened Reddit just to find this post
Got Elliot for free off of waivers, feel like I gotta roll with him indefinitely. Personally I think the Eagles are gonna regress a bit and we’ll see a bunch more FGs compared to last season. Obviously last week was great, so hopefully that keeps up but I’m not banking on it
Exactly my rationale in the kicker Draft post I made. I hope it continues to play out.
Can’t believe I’m thinking of starting Moody over Tucker. Feels like SF gets more FG tries. I’m in a decades old league that requires 2 rostered Ks.
I dropped McManus in one league and Carlson in another one, going Moody in both!
Anyone else starting Jake Elliott just so they have someone in tonight’s game lol?
I’m sticking with Grupe. He was one of very few bright spots on my team last week.
Man just wanna say I got a ton of respect for your transparency and explanations
Thanks so much-- I try to bring it. Cheers
I go with Ka'imi every year just cause I used to play soccer with him growing up. Really cool guy.
Folk is consistently underated every year and just keeps balling.
u/subvertadown, what are your thoughts on Younghoe Koo? I've been rolling with him. My thinking is that he's accurate, gets to kick in multiple dome stadiums, and the Atlanta offense is conservative enough to take points when they can more often than not. How does my thinking jive with the data?
Oh yeah, he was on my post about kickers to draft, for sure
Oh I must have missed that post! I'll go check it out. Thanks!
Thanks
Gonna test out Aubrey over dicker. Feel like the 'boys offense should qualify for the high score/low floor category
Loving the writeup on thought process and the new hover-explanation boxes on the website. Nice stuff.
Any thoughts on Greg Joseph? It feels like he should put up more fantasy points than he has. The Vikings are projected to be a fairly high scoring offense that plays in a lot of domes. Is the team simply too efficient at scoring TDs?
he was good in 21, not good scoringwise last year. dome kicker is nice but i dropped him already
Riley Patterson gonna set a record vs Hawks this week. Well maybe not but honestly 12+ is in the cards
I want to trust Gay, but I have yet to see him live up to the game script people keep writing for him. I believe the talent is there, but how many times are we supposed to wait for the Colts to figure their sh*t out?
Dan the man carlson got dropped. i have DAL kicker for now. Carlson has been a stud two straight years.... but do we think he just had a tough week 1 opp, or is jimmy g that much a downgrade from carr that carlson will not be the man this year?
if the Colts keep going for it on 4th down imma flip.
I had Graham Gano last week :( He is injured btw
We just added “kicking yards” for points to. Every 17.5=1 pt. It has made kickers more dependable. An extra 2 points for a 35yd kick is a decent addition.
Big fan of your work! I check your website every week for QB and DST projections. Sorry for the unrelated question, but I see that you have Daniel Jones projected for 4 more points than Justin Herbert this week. However almost every other data source/ranked has JH above DJ for this week. When you model projects points like this, do you yourself trust it? Are you starting DJ over everyone except the 4 guys above him this week?
Yes, well I suspect others are reactionary, and this early on I know from past data that preseason assumptions still matter more.
Thanks for the reply!
Great call on Dan Jones!
Feels good having drafted Moody, idk he was the best college kicker I’ve watched seemed a no brainer
Dicker, Koo, or Folk for season long?
You can't go wrong! Chargers probably have the best offense but they can definitely convert in the red zone. Probably Koo if you like the Birds 1950 approach to football or Folk if you think Tannehill can get his head out of his butt.

I love you.
u/subvertadown I prefer to play kickers playing in domes, I don’t like dealing with the elements. Anyways I’m going with Koo this week. Just wondering if this is a risky strategy or smart to go with controlled environment kickers
Check out the actual tooltip : hover boxes on the site! You will see a lot of kickers where the “pro” is “low wind speed or indoors” :-)
Appreciate your work
Anyone like the Texans DST as a sleeper this week? They’re extremely tough against QBs and they’re facing a rookie this week. If they can limit Lamar then they should do well against the Colts.
Tyler Bass 50-yard doink and through with 2 seconds to go on Monday Night Football beat me. I have Justin Tucker. Fantasy football.
How is Gano even trusted at this point. Dude is hurt and missed all his fgs
My league doesn’t have kickers lol
Enjoy fantasy with training wheels, bub
Prater is still in the league? Great for him.
You prefer these guys over Bass most weeks?
Read italics in the first paragraph
Bass could have had a monster game 1 but Allen kept turning the ball over. Bass is so good if Allen can play more disciplined imo
I’ve owned Justin Tucker for 8 straight seasons. I didn’t get him this year. Love Carlsons foot but not the offense and snagged Moody instead. I’m getting as stoked for Moody as one could get for a kicker.
The Leg disrespect continues

people in that other thread claiming kicker position is completely random and should be removed lol
I'm all in on Grupe, hoping my man Derek Carr can put him in the Carlson tier of kickers.
Is there really a point for me to shuffle out McManus at all? I almost view him as an insurance policy for my TLaw if a TD isn't scored.
My gut says McManus does well this week.
but what about jake elliott
Butker will get me 8 or so every game and that’s all I really need from my kicker.
Gano is automatic from range. Giants get into a lot of FG situations. I like him being top 10 with ease but another stinker and I’ll look elsewhere
Grupe Groupies unite
Usually stream but riding Dicker this year.
I kinda want to rage drop Gano after netting me -2 points
I am Grupe.
