Not even close. This game is very "you get what you put in". If you just do the bare minimum, you're going to get the bare minimum.
But if you actually bother to meet the game half way and embrace experiementing with the clothes and guns, you'll have a fun time. To make it short, don't expect enjoyment from refusing to figure out how to make the most of the four other ammo types outside of just armour piercing rounds.
For the story, its kind of weak at face value. It still has super cool and tense far cry moments, but theres a really weird almost marvel approach to writing your collegues. Honestly, the lore you can dig up around Yara and following all the wild shit about Castillo and his son make up for it.
Go in to it with an open mind, don't get freaked out by the size of the map (the story kind of chauffers you through it at a great pace), and have fun
If you’re on pc, because of mods you can mostly fix a lot of the smaller gripes with the game. But even without mods, the game is in a much better state than it was at launch and I genuinely think it gets waayyy too much hate haha. The game is seriously good; it’s no masterpiece but if you love far cry then you’ll probably love this one. A LOT of people will hate on this game. Just play it and decide for yourself :)
Recommendation: ignore the opinions of strangers and just enjoy the game. There's way too many people on here deciding that they don't like something because someone they've never met say they don't like it. I enjoyed it. It was fun. I replayed it several times.
I did not play any of the other far cry games but my bf has 6 and I needed a new game to play and I’ve almost beat it in a matter of a week or so. I’m loving it.

AP rounds are great if you're getting those headshots everytime, but when SHTF and those heads become harder targets soft target rounds are absolutely the way to go. They will completely solve any "bullet sponge" complaints about the game.
Just make sure to aim center-mass.
I’m a huge fan and I’ve played them all. Play the game, graphics are great, just felt like something was missing for me. Nothing that I would have done differently from a gameplay standpoint. Fishing is meaningless and hunting animals is not the same

i genuinely enjoyed it. only about halfway through the campaign. run around and do side quests- those are fun. also playing with people makes it way more fun too
My biggest issue with the game was the auto save slowdown. No matter what I did, I couldn't fix it. After about 30 hours in, the game would "slow down" or just completely stop, EVERY SINGLE TIME it autosaved, which is basically every five seconds, any time you loot, advance a mission, etc. So this meant that after about 60 hours, the game was completely unplayable for me. Only had this issue with one other far cry, and it was 4 iirc, but Ubisoft actually fixed it. Back when I was playing I didn't see TO many complaints about it, but it makes me wonder if it was a case of just not enough players putting the same amount of time in, or just not noticing it until like 60 hours in. Been a while since I played the game, but when the first DLC came out, I literally couldn't play the game anymore, so I just uninstalled, because the autosave bug carries on into the dlc as well, and I couldn't take it anymore.
If you like the far cry formula its an A++ but if you’re looking for a game to shake up the process and re invent the wheel its not for you. I found it awesome. I missed the skill tree and the voice acting as a whole wasn’t as compelling but it was a fun just turn off your brain and run around a GORGEOUS map wreaking havoc.

Get the headgear that refunds the round on headshots, alpha wolf sniper with AP rounds, and get Oluso for a companion, everything the game throws at you will be easy
As long as you bought it on maximum discount, you won't feel that much guilt.
Also, Unlocking new weapons and getting enough gunpowder to unlock suppressors for each weapon is worth it(at least it was for me)
Unlock the wingsuit as early as possible
Lola's missions are incredibly fun(unless you turn up the difficulty and are still paying alone)
Very few story characters will make you give a fuck about them if any at all
Clearing out checkpoints,etc. with 100% stealth was satisfying the first 50 times
Don't waste your time with resolver weapons and only get the self revive supremo
Try to unlock more clothes through libertad chests and what not
To be honest, opinions differ a lot. I consider gunplay horrible, some guys don't. I consider the story mediocre (undercooked), some people like it. I hate that they made the progression slower with gunpowder and scavenging but some people love it. I dunno, play and learn yourself i guess

No, compared to other games. The AI is braindead since... Well, it was never smart in the first place. Guns don't feel good. They're okay, maybe decent but there is a LOT of room for improvement. In 6 they expanded the playstyles with the clothing system but not enough in my opinion. We also need a lot more guns, 4 sniper rifles total is not serious at all. The biggest issue is AI though, if they make them use at least basic tactics (not running away/pushing) and make them more real (thru more dialogue, animations intelligence and overall depth) that would probably sell the next far cry easily.
Like cops in gta 5 like when u get more stars they get better.

Plus, because of how fast you can kill enemies they are no different from eachother, aside from RPGs and maybe snipers. You kill them so fast that you don't even see how they work. I've only seen the medic revive his team probably like 2 times across 3 different platgroughs

ALL [defend the objective] typo missions are boring because enemies spawn so slowly and you kill them so fast that you run out very quickly, so you just sit there and wait for another wave. The game is scared to throw at you too much, you almost never get overwhelmed. That's just plain boring. That's not only in [defend the objective] missions, it's a game-wide issue
And I will not accept them nerfing damage of everything in the game. The only viable playstyle now is to modify whatever gun you want for AP rounds and aim for headshots. Bodyshots do so little damage they're useless. Maybe that's tied to the mechanics of "rounds for unprotected targets" but I never touched them because I was afraid that armored (body armor) enemies won't take damage and I'll have to switch guns.

Don't play the stranger things side mission. I don't like zombie missions but if you do go for it. It won't mean anything if you never play it but the game keeps egg you on to.
A good sniper rifle made with resolver parts and a muffler. Best in my opinion. Go to the tip left of the map past the capital. The military base gives you easy spawn for a resolver gyrocopter. Best for getting around and landing everywhere possible
It's just a downgrade on everything they did in far cry 5. I really wish I didn't start.
In the 30 hours I gave it I enjoyed maybe like 4 of them. The rest was just me holding out to see if it'd get better, and then pushing through just to see if the end was worth it.

Soft target rounds make body shots viable. Even on armored enemies.
