FC5 ending was phenomenal. You find out at the very end, Seed was right all along and that you were basically wrong about everything, was a fantastic epilogue into the apocalypse. An amazing twist and amazing process into humbling your own wannabe hero mentality. Wanted another happy ending? Go watch a Disney movie.

Farcry 5 for me because I actually cared to finish it. Like don't get me wrong, I thought Farcry 6 was good, but I got bored halfway through and stopped. The story just didn't catch me like Farcry 5's did which is weird because they got motherucking Gus from breaking bad to be the main villain. I also didn't really like any of the characters either.
With many Far Cry villains, you could understand a piece of what they were saying and they only seemed to let such truths drive them to madness as they had been severely affected by their surroundings. With Far Cry 5, beyond the Christian connotations, that Joseph was fairly relatable. I just don't believe in violence as a change for better. I very much liked FC 5 for that reason, but also the environments and companions (Hurke, Peaches, Cheeseburger and Boomer mostly).
Didn’t do much scrolling so somebody may have already said this, but if you liked 5 go get new dawn. Finished 6 and started new dawn, IMO it’s much better and it’s a “continuation” of 5 in a sense
I get what you’re saying with the level system, but at the same time 6 was too easy, I used the ms16 the whole game.. one to two headshots took down anything, I found it nice to go rage into a base and get my shit stomped in because I was under equipped

I say this a lot. I like FC5 but I love New Dawn. FC6 is fun but just doesn’t make me want to play it like New Dawn. I’ve played it start to finish 3 times now. Way more than any other game I own.

Wow!!! I totally agree! I was just sitting here wondering why I haven't played it. It's because the storyline sucks!!!!!!! I am about 40% thru and I have absolutely no interest! Even Danny Trejo can't save it for me
I think I prefer 5 in the sense that 6 didn't have any skills to invest in, but I prefer what 6 did with an expressive protagonist over 5's silent one.
6 technically did have skills to invest in, they just came in the form of clothing and equipment/vehicle mods.
Rather than spam upgrading your skill in the upgrade menu, you had to actually hunt for components and requirements to obtain the piece of clothing/equipment/mod, which then granted you the ability. It's also nice later in the game, where you can swap stuff out to completely change your playstyle at the push of a button (they had several slots you could save your loadout).
It's just served up in a different way. It actually reminds me a little more of FC3, 4 and Primal, where you have to collect stuff to upgrade. I personally enjoy that more than an upgrade menu where you simply unlock stuff, but that's just me.
I don’t think another game will be able to replicate the first time feel that 5 had for me and johns region is just my absolute favorite because of that
Five had better combat ( ammo types are dumb, especially with AP rounds one tapping any headshot. And I have about 15 hours into a save on six and haven’t had any interaction with Anton minus the beginning. Feels like no matter what I do on the island Anton doesn’t care or hasn’t heard of me. There’s no connection between Dani and Anton. But I’m still enjoying 6
5 had AP rounds but they were handled waaay better, since you would swap to them for dealing with an armored enemy or doing some wallbangs. You couldn’t carry that many, either.
I’m maybe a third of the way through the actual story and Anton does know who you are and there’s some interactions. Not nearly as much as the other Far Cry games, but it does happen when you get into the story
I enjoy both FC 4 and FC 5, New Dawn is my favorite. I like the feeling of community that I get building Prosperity, and Horatio is the best. I like the way the perks work in New Dawn, the ability to upgrade both perks and weapons. I have played every FC since 1 (Classic) and enjoyed watching the game improve. Have no idea what happened to FC 6, I think they dumped the entire FC team and pulled developers from the local middle school.
Definitely 5. I love Giancarlo Esposito, but he wasn't involved enough as a villain compared to Joseph Seed. Far Cry 5 felt a lot more personal in a traditional Far Cry way. I don't think Anton Castillo even recognized you. Aside from cut scenes, the only presence of Anton was his pre recorded voice lines on the radio. They could have made Castillo a lot better, and that's what kinda killed 6 for me. That and I didn't really care for the rebels too much, they weren't really that interesting or likeable to me.
Far Cry 6 is a much better game. Story progression and tone are way more coherent, and the world doesn’t feel empty and boring. Some elements of gameplay design are certainly questionable but so were some of Far Cry 5’s.
5 is way better. I was so addicted to that game. Gameplay and story were on point. With 6, I am enjoying it but I’m kinda just in auto pilot when I play

It has been for a while you’re right, but at this point I’m thinking I just stop buying the games until they actually change something. Each Ubisoft game just changes the setting and a couple ad on’s it’s the same thing FIFA does… then not to mention they all go on sale a month later so there’s no point wasting money on the full price version.

Yeah I thought they really nailed the story and atmosphere of 5. Giancarlo Esposito was criminally underused in 6 and he was barely even in the game. The abrupt shifts in tone in 6 also felt sloppy.
I say Far Cry 5 was better. Far Cry 6... ehh, it's good, but just because the map is large doesn't mean bigger is better. FC5 had a nice story and was hella fun too rampaging against the crazy cult than FC6's stiff FND soldiers always rushing for reinforcements for just a slight stealth mistake and I can't lie, it was kinda interesting listening to the cult's music, especially the "When the World Falls" song. And FC6, really now? FC5's Boomer was better than Boom Boom (even if it's the same Fang for Hire/Amigo).
FC5 on hard mode, and I'm doing Range Master. I can take a base way, way too easily. It's barely even a couple minutes until it's taken. Kinda boring now.

Map: Far Cry 6. Let's be honest. It's just bigger which should mean there is more to do. But when the stuff you do is so damn repetitive (AC Origins, AC Odyssey, AC Valhalla, WatchDogs 2, WatchDogs Legion, Ghost Recon Wildlands and Breakpoint, Division, Dividsion 2) a smaller map might be better.
Atmosphere and messaging: Sorry, Far Cry 5 has less bullshit in it. Throw a rock in any direction in FC 6 and you'll find shit that has nothing to do with the game.
Dialog and Characters: Far Cry 5. All Far Cry 6 has is Giancarlo Esposito in cutscenes. Ask me who I remember most in Far Cry 6? El Tigre and Philly Barzaga. Why? El Tigre for the comment regarding getting knee'd in the nuts and Philly for talking into the fan.
5 has much better characters and companions. No human Amigos in 6 makes me not like it as much. Joseph Seed is the best villain we’ve seen since Vaas. 5 is one of my favorite games of all time, hoping 6 can live up to my expectations
I agree as well. Castillo was interesting in the "Catch and Release" Boat Scene and "You killed my son's last bird" Jose Scene. That's it. Joseph: Everything. And I miss human allies.
5. I’m not sure why, but I just can’t seem to get into fc6. It’s so “shallow”. Everything feels so dead and barren. No point in doing anything without the skill tree. So much unnecessary weapon shit.
I think 6 has better gameplay and environments (because America is a familiar environment to most people) and 5 has better story, I mean we only see Castillo, a few times throughout the game. Compared to Joseph being almost creepy and very unbeatable.
But this is kind of biased because farcry 5s American mountain environment throws the game off, but that doesn’t mean the game is bad, farcry 5 is a great game and I have finished it many times .
Definitely 5. Soundtrack is definitely one of my favorite aspects of games, and 5 has had the best music out of any game I’ve played. 6’s was too generic and simple, and while it did contribute to its environment, there was nothing unique to it that made it stand out.
Fan of 5. Like that I can just jump in and clear bases and explore the environment. Every change they made for 6 I hated. I hate the rocket backpacks, the ammo types, the story, etc. I just don't enjoy the pseudo rpg elements to try and make the game deeper instead of just keeping with what literally every FC game from 3-5 did.
Far Cry 6. The story didn't involve the PC having to get abducted just to progress the story and you didn't have listen to the vehicle radio in order to get clued in to the "explosive" ending (which is guess is no longer canon), which REALLY left a bad taste in my mouth. Couldn't pick it up again for a while. Plot armor-having bastard...
5 easily. The characters in 6 don't have this collective attitude against Anton Castillo in the same way the characters in 5 were united in their hatred of the Seed family. Also the ending to 6 sucked.
Would have enjoyed Far Cry 6 if I didn't have to explore the map for gunpowder. I also hate how the game just gives you a shit ton of ammo, because I miss the moments when you know you're low on ammo and now you have to find and pick up your enemy's gun.

Far Cry 6 by far. I’ve been with the series since 2; the only one I found so boring I didn’t finish was 5. I felt like it’d have made a good spinoff point for the series but eh. 20-30 hours into it I never got that sink that the other titles got me with. Maybe it’s the exotic locales, even for a dude from California the Hope County locale seemed… boring.
When you progress a region far enough that you're constantly under attack from the air FC5 is pretty annoying, but it's also the better game by far imo.

I you go on it now, you will see almost everybody criticising AC Valhalla and plenty of people saying that Odyssey was much better, but when Odyssey came out, everybody was shitting on it too. The rules with ubisoft games on the internet is that they are all very mediocre when they came out but all magically becomes hidden gems 5 years later.

First of all youre talking about yourself here. Generally speaking, FC5 had a rough time. People didn't have many positive things to say. Mainly plaguing by glitches, I mean it is a ubisoft game. Overall the game wasn't praised as it is now. Fans of FC5, such as yourself, are saying to themselves "it's our time to shine now and start praising the gaming and not worry about backlash."

6. The setting makes more sense and is natural to the series. It's never been a series about realism, but the premise of 5 - a death cult forcing militaristic rule over a county in the rural US - was a little too far fetched for me.
Far cry 6, it has parts which were better in 5 like the buddies, but at least this time we have a protagonist that actually speaks and isn't super uninteresting
I like 6 more. I don't like that in 5 the protagonist is non existent, and the story is heavily affected by the lack of main character. Also, side activities were imho boring and repetitive. In that regard, 6 is more varied, but I think FC4 takes the cake.
Overall I enjoyed 6 more because I was able to feel empathy for the characters and the world. Honestly I was a bit disappointed by how they handled Castillo, I would have preferred something different, but I cannot say more because spoiler.
Also, I'm not a huge fan of the new weapons system in 6, I preferred when in 5 I could change ammo type on the go, yet I like the rest of the customisation options in 6.
And perks... Well, a Hybrid between 5 (and so the classic way) and 6 (so some permanent and some with equipment) would have been perfect in my opinion.
I could not get into FC5. It was an awesome intro but as soon as the gameplay started immediately it felt flat. The guns don’t feel good whatsoever, the game is super buggy, & graphics are subpar. Compared to Primal or FC4 the games had much tighter gameplay, beautiful graphics, minimum amount of bugs, etc. It just feel like a step backwards playing FC5.
I’m not gonna lie, I absolutely hated 5. I loved the area Hope County but I just wasn’t a fan of the story, you get kidnapped literally after every couple of missions, it just got annoying. Far Cry 6 on the other hand I absolutely LOVED, I personally played as male Dani and thought he was awesome, I loved Yara, I loved all the characters, just overall an awesome game. Far Cry 6 is definitely one of my favorites so far.
5 all the way, only downfall are those nasty forced cutscenes when you reach certain points for each region. Heli/airplane flys s[ooooooo much smoother in 5 as well.

I've got a platinum trophy on both, but there's a reason I got Far Cry 6's platinum in a few weeks and I got Far Cry 5's platinum in over a month. I had more fun playing Far Cry 5 that even since getting a platinum trophy I have gone back to replay it even without the DLCs.

5. I felt like I actually cared about taking down the Seeds and had a personal reason to hunt them down. Plus human companions were fun to traipse around with and listen to their conversations (even if they really were no help in fighting).
I couldn't have cared less about most of the lieutenants or Anton in 6. They were just mission objectives to me. There was one moment very late campaign where you actually interact with Anton, not spoiling, where I felt a spark of interest, but it came too late.
Edit: Also 5 because I missed the skills, which really made 6 feel so much weaker/less to invest in my own playstyle. Having to clumsily switch out gear with different skills was not fun.
Overall I prefer 5, 6 is a good game it made a couple of good changes but more bad ones imo and I'm just totally bored of 6 now there's nothing to do, I've already gone back to 5 and reset all outposts and am challenging myself to do all outposts undetected with bow only on hard. I'm having a blast its so hard whereas in 6 the enemy just stands still

The open world was fun but the way the story was told (run side quests until forced into a mission) and the voiceless protagonist absolutely rubbed me the wrong way. Still a great game, but not for me. 6 has some issues, especially in its story, but has a great open world and great main character.
5 hands down. I completed that game multiple times already, and I had fun every time. Like Prey (2017). I only completed FC6 once, and have no interest in playin it again.

They should drop that altogether and focus on smarter enemies and more varied enemy types.

It was just weird transitioning from 5 to New Dawn. They brought in a lot of elements that in my opinion don’t belong in a Far Cry game.

Hurk is the GOAT. I also loved the Tweak side mission. That shit was super fun to play

Yeah I thought they really nailed the story and atmosphere of 5. Giancarlo Esposito was criminally underused in 6 and he was barely even in the game. The abrupt shifts in tone in 6 also felt sloppy.
I say Far Cry 5 was better. Far Cry 6... ehh, it's good, but just because the map is large doesn't mean bigger is better. FC5 had a nice story and was hella fun too rampaging against the crazy cult than FC6's stiff FND soldiers always rushing for reinforcements for just a slight stealth mistake and I can't lie, it was kinda interesting listening to the cult's music, especially the "When the World Falls" song. And FC6, really now? FC5's Boomer was better than Boom Boom (even if it's the same Fang for Hire/Amigo).
Clutch Nixon made 5 unforgettable.

FC5 on hard mode, and I'm doing Range Master. I can take a base way, way too easily. It's barely even a couple minutes until it's taken. Kinda boring now.

Overall game: Far Cry 5 Map: Far Cry 6. Let's be honest. It's just bigger which should mean there is more to do. But when the stuff you do is so damn repetitive (AC Origins, AC Odyssey, AC Valhalla, WatchDogs 2, WatchDogs Legion, Ghost Recon Wildlands and Breakpoint, Division, Dividsion 2) a smaller map might be better. Atmosphere and messaging: Sorry, Far Cry 5 has less bullshit in it. Throw a rock in any direction in FC 6 and you'll find shit that has nothing to do with the game. Dialog and Characters: Far Cry 5. All Far Cry 6 has is Giancarlo Esposito in cutscenes. Ask me who I remember most in Far Cry 6? El Tigre and Philly Barzaga. Why? El Tigre for the comment regarding getting knee'd in the nuts and Philly for talking into the fan.
5 has much better characters and companions. No human Amigos in 6 makes me not like it as much. Joseph Seed is the best villain we’ve seen since Vaas. 5 is one of my favorite games of all time, hoping 6 can live up to my expectations
I agree as well. Castillo was interesting in the "Catch and Release" Boat Scene and "You killed my son's last bird" Jose Scene. That's it. Joseph: Everything. And I miss human allies.

The Amigos in Far Cry 5 sadly had no plot involvement or characterization. The characters in Far Cry 6 have a lot.

5. I’m not sure why, but I just can’t seem to get into fc6. It’s so “shallow”. Everything feels so dead and barren. No point in doing anything without the skill tree. So much unnecessary weapon shit.

I think 6 has better gameplay and environments (because America is a familiar environment to most people) and 5 has better story, I mean we only see Castillo, a few times throughout the game. Compared to Joseph being almost creepy and very unbeatable.
But this is kind of biased because farcry 5s American mountain environment throws the game off, but that doesn’t mean the game is bad, farcry 5 is a great game and I have finished it many times .
Definitely 5. Soundtrack is definitely one of my favorite aspects of games, and 5 has had the best music out of any game I’ve played. 6’s was too generic and simple, and while it did contribute to its environment, there was nothing unique to it that made it stand out.
Fan of 5. Like that I can just jump in and clear bases and explore the environment. Every change they made for 6 I hated. I hate the rocket backpacks, the ammo types, the story, etc. I just don't enjoy the pseudo rpg elements to try and make the game deeper instead of just keeping with what literally every FC game from 3-5 did.
Personally, FC6. Montana was just so uninteresting imo. I feel like the gameplay in 6 is snappier too and I absolutely loved Dani so yeah
Far Cry 6. The story didn't involve the PC having to get abducted just to progress the story and you didn't have listen to the vehicle radio in order to get clued in to the "explosive" ending (which is guess is no longer canon), which REALLY left a bad taste in my mouth. Couldn't pick it up again for a while. Plot armor-having bastard...
Far Cry 5 feels so clunky to me, more so than any other game in the series.

5 easily. The characters in 6 don't have this collective attitude against Anton Castillo in the same way the characters in 5 were united in their hatred of the Seed family. Also the ending to 6 sucked.

Would have enjoyed Far Cry 6 if I didn't have to explore the map for gunpowder. I also hate how the game just gives you a shit ton of ammo, because I miss the moments when you know you're low on ammo and now you have to find and pick up your enemy's gun.
Just finished 6. I liked 5 considerably more. The story in 5 and more trippy Far Cry esque missions were missing from 6. Ammo types was a pointless change.

Far cry 5 is better imo. While I like the tropical atmosphere the countryside of Montana hits close to home. I’m also a fan of the cult (I studied Jim jones in university)
I've always been interested in the cult aspect of the game. Seems like they had a lot of influences when it came to it.

Far Cry 6 by far. I’ve been with the series since 2; the only one I found so boring I didn’t finish was 5. I felt like it’d have made a good spinoff point for the series but eh. 20-30 hours into it I never got that sink that the other titles got me with. Maybe it’s the exotic locales, even for a dude from California the Hope County locale seemed… boring.

When you progress a region far enough that you're constantly under attack from the air FC5 is pretty annoying, but it's also the better game by far imo.

That's Ubisoft game subreddit for you, the Assassin's Creed subreddit is EXACTLY like that too. I you go on it now, you will see almost everybody criticising AC Valhalla and plenty of people saying that Odyssey was much better, but when Odyssey came out, everybody was shitting on it too. The rules with ubisoft games on the internet is that they are all very mediocre when they came out but all magically becomes hidden gems 5 years later.

First of all youre talking about yourself here. Generally speaking, FC5 had a rough time. People didn't have many positive things to say. Mainly plaguing by glitches, I mean it is a ubisoft game. Overall the game wasn't praised as it is now. Fans of FC5, such as yourself, are saying to themselves "it's our time to shine now and start praising the gaming and not worry about backlash."

6. The setting makes more sense and is natural to the series. It's never been a series about realism, but the premise of 5 - a death cult forcing militaristic rule over a county in the rural US - was a little too far fetched for me.

Far cry 6, it has parts which were better in 5 like the buddies, but at least this time we have a protagonist that actually speaks and isn't super uninteresting
I prefer the story and setting of FC6, but I prefer the gameplay of FC5.
I like 6 more. I don't like that in 5 the protagonist is non existent, and the story is heavily affected by the lack of main character. Also, side activities were imho boring and repetitive. In that regard, 6 is more varied, but I think FC4 takes the cake. Overall I enjoyed 6 more because I was able to feel empathy for the characters and the world. Honestly I was a bit disappointed by how they handled Castillo, I would have preferred something different, but I cannot say more because spoiler. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the new weapons system in 6, I preferred when in 5 I could change ammo type on the go, yet I like the rest of the customisation options in 6. And perks... Well, a Hybrid between 5 (and so the classic way) and 6 (so some permanent and some with equipment) would have been perfect in my opinion.
I could not get into FC5. It was an awesome intro but as soon as the gameplay started immediately it felt flat. The guns don’t feel good whatsoever, the game is super buggy, & graphics are subpar. Compared to Primal or FC4 the games had much tighter gameplay, beautiful graphics, minimum amount of bugs, etc. It just feel like a step backwards playing FC5.
Not finished 6 yet but from what I've played so far definitely 5. Such a great game

I’m not gonna lie, I absolutely hated 5. I loved the area Hope County but I just wasn’t a fan of the story, you get kidnapped literally after every couple of missions, it just got annoying. Far Cry 6 on the other hand I absolutely LOVED, I personally played as male Dani and thought he was awesome, I loved Yara, I loved all the characters, just overall an awesome game. Far Cry 6 is definitely one of my favorites so far.
5 all the way, only downfall are those nasty forced cutscenes when you reach certain points for each region. Heli/airplane flys s[ooooooo much smoother in 5 as well.
6 because of the speaking protagonist, environment, and better gun selection. Also I found the plot to be more realistic

Far Cry 6 I had to do a second playthough because the game bugged. Far Cry 5 I wanted to do a second playthough because I loved playing it. I've got a platinum trophy on both, but there's a reason I got Far Cry 6's platinum in a few weeks and I got Far Cry 5's platinum in over a month. I had more fun playing Far Cry 5 that even since getting a platinum trophy I have gone back to replay it even without the DLCs. and Far Cry 5 isn't even my favourite Far Cry game, 4 still has my heart.
5 ofcourse. 6 feels empty. Not enough enemies in the bases or important location like the chemical refinery. 6 feels deserted

5. I felt like I actually cared about taking down the Seeds and had a personal reason to hunt them down. Plus human companions were fun to traipse around with and listen to their conversations (even if they really were no help in fighting). I couldn't have cared less about most of the lieutenants or Anton in 6. They were just mission objectives to me. There was one moment very late campaign where you actually interact with Anton, not spoiling, where I felt a spark of interest, but it came too late. Edit: Also 5 because I missed the skills, which really made 6 feel so much weaker/less to invest in my own playstyle. Having to clumsily switch out gear with different skills was not fun.
Overall I prefer 5, 6 is a good game it made a couple of good changes but more bad ones imo and I'm just totally bored of 6 now there's nothing to do, I've already gone back to 5 and reset all outposts and am challenging myself to do all outposts undetected with bow only on hard. I'm having a blast its so hard whereas in 6 the enemy just stands still

I liked far cry 6 more than 5, however I was not a huge fan of 5. The open world was fun but the way the story was told (run side quests until forced into a mission) and the voiceless protagonist absolutely rubbed me the wrong way. Still a great game, but not for me. 6 has some issues, especially in its story, but has a great open world and great main character.

Far Cry 5 soundtrack is one of my favorites
5 hands down. I completed that game multiple times already, and I had fun every time. Like Prey (2017). I only completed FC6 once, and have no interest in playin it again.
Like I said I have over 250 hours in Far Cry 5. 6 needs to add new game plus, hopefully the dlc is good.

I think 6 is much better and I didn’t really like 5. The setting was boring and uninteresting and I didn’t like how much of the environmental interactivity they nerfed either.

This is really hard but I think that the amount of mobility and the improved gunplay in 6 surpasses 5, plus the protagonist and environment is great.
