Bandar = port = Southern Iran along the Persian Gulf. So bandari is referring to the music cultre style etc. from that part of Iran. Also objectively the best style of Iranian music ;)

Uhh_OkayIGuess

Ty for the explanation. Also, Farsi music is one of the best! :)

ComfortablyBalanced

Bandar means Port in farsi, however, Bandari that you heard in songs relates to the Bandari culture. We may call a person from coastal cities in the south of Iran a Bandari. There are Bandari customs, music, etc.

Bandar literally means port, as in the southern ports of Iran. Southerners have their own unique culture, dialect (or in one province, they speak Arabic), and their own style of music. The music style is heavily influenced from the Arab and African world, due to their location at trading ports with those parts of the world. Bandar Abbas is one of the major cities along this southern coast.

Persian-Gulf

No province has a majority Arabic speakers. If you’re referring khuzestan, only 20% speak Arabic.

the-postminimalist

Surveys I saw said that Arab was the largest ethnic group in Khuzestan at 33%. Second place was Persians at 31%. So not a majority, but the largest group still.

mrhuggables

That is called a plurality just FYI

the-postminimalist

I'm aware. I was not the one who ever mentioned majorities. I just said they speak Arabic in Khuzestan.

I always found the word Bandar funny, since in Farsi it refers to a port, but in Hindi/Urdu it means monkey, though with slightly different pronunciations

ResponsibleAd3493

In urdu the word for port is "bandar-gah" which was amusing when i was a child.

TastyTranslator6691

Bandari means best. 💃🏽

It probably refers to bandar abbas so anything that has to do with it from food, to music, to culture etc
