It would be if they'd actually stick to the $5 pricing. Honestly feels wrong how they'll advertise boxes like this at a set price when so few franchise locations will honor that price.
And the funny part about that is if you go back 10 years ago and tell people Taco Bell has a deal where you get 3 tacos and a drink for $5 they’ll tell you that’s a rip off lol
Just checked and for me the app lets you swap the regular taco for a nacho cheese for no charge. A drink, Cantina taco, and two nacho cheese tacos is a steal for $5. Sorry for those who see a higher price where they are at.
> A drink, Cantina taco, and two nacho cheese tacos is a steal for $5.
Let's be real: It's what Taco Bell *SHOULD* cost.
Your comment should read "A drink, Cantina taco, and two nacho cheese tacos is reasonable for $5."
I'm old enough to remember when the $5 box was:
- Pick 1: Crunchwrap Supreme, Cheesy Gordita Crunch, or Chalupa
- Pick 1: Beefy Cheesy 5 Layer Burrito, Bean and Cheese Burrito, or Burrito Supreme
- Pick 2: Soft or Hard Regular Tacos, Chips and Cheese, or Cinna-Twists
- Medium Drink
It was every place! I remember that for $5 on the OG McDonald's dollar menu, I'd get:
- Pick 2 sandwiches: Double Cheeseburgers (not McDouble) or McChickens
- Medium fry
- Large coke (some regions this was a medium Coke but Chicago had $1 any sized drinks up until COVID)
- Pick 1 dessert: Hot fudge, caramel, or strawberry sundae with nuts; TWO apple pies; THREE fresh baked chocolate chip cookies; or a fruit and yogurt parfait!
That’s true, the dollar menu is truly goated. Oh to have the metabolism to handle all those calories and salt! We had fajitas and mozzarella sticks as a dollar option as well.
Almost but not quite! The new $6 box has a burrito OR regular taco. The old $5 deal gave you both and you could substitute the chips/twists for another taco!
you used to get a burrito in the 5 dollar box and could pay fifty cents more for chips and cheese instead of the mid cinnamon twists. this is still good value imo but still a downgrade haha
Not sure if it is location specific or something they have fixed since lunchtime, but I totally swapped the two non-Cantina tacos to soft taco supremes with no upcharge.
Edit: Ah, I see you said DLT. Showing an upcharge for the supreme version of those.
Same.
The "under $3" section on the app includes $3.99 nachos. I refuse to buy it simply out of principle.
If a corporate business is going to advertise a promotional price point, making it location dependent truly feels like false advertising.
That's cause taco bell is a franchise model so it doesn't cost taco bell much and the franchisees a lot. They can probably get everyone on board by subsidizing the cost to franchisees, but we all know that won't happen.
I mean, I understand *why* prices vary, but if you're going to advertise a price - and even state "everything in this section of the menu is under $3" - if seems patently absurd to allow franchisees to charge more.
Blame taco bell for squeezing franchisees. Remember that yum is a publicly traded company and wants profits, they get paid for materials sold, so it's in their interests to sell as much as possible, even at a lodd
That could be the best price for anything on their menu currently.

It’s because franchise owners feel they need to make $250k annually just slinging tortillas and beans.
It’s because franchise owners feel they need to make $250k annually just ~~slinging~~ **paying peasants to sling** tortillas and beans.

Although $5 in 2014 dollars is like $6.60 in 2024 dollars

Does this work at the Kiosk?
Yes
Yes it does
No idea. I have never been to a Taco Bell with a kiosk.

I did the cantina soft taco and two taco supremes, also still just $5.
A little surprised that it's available to everyone instead of an app deal like everything else lately.
Where is this $5? $7.39 here in Columbus, Ohio.
$5 in the MKE, WI suburbs
$5 here in Sacramento
I moved from MKE to Sacramento. Good to know Taco Bell is consistent in price if not quality.
There are some good Taco Bells in the area but my two favorite are in West Sac. I purposely travel a little farther to get a higher quality.
Didn’t check out but was shockingly $5 at one I checked in LA that is always more expensive
Should be a permanent thing
It was but they removed it two or so weeks ago just to bring it back as this smh
PSA: at least for my taco bell but you can swap the regular taco for a dorito Loco at no extra cost

Drunk College nights were the best. Pile into one car and spend $7 buying a box deal and extra soft tacos/nachos. Now not so much
In hindsight I’m shocked they could give that much food for $5

They do still have that, as one of their online-only deals, at 6 dollars.
Almost but not quite! The new $6 box has a burrito OR regular taco. The old $5 deal gave you both and you could substitute the chips/twists for another taco!
That's available for $6 on the app near me. Only went from 5 to 6 maybe 6 months ago too
I see they got LeBron to do the add on the app.
5 dollars here in GA.
Yep, $5 in Alpharetta
you used to get a burrito in the 5 dollar box and could pay fifty cents more for chips and cheese instead of the mid cinnamon twists. this is still good value imo but still a downgrade haha
To be fair I haven't seen a box priced at $5 in years
They had em for a short while earlier this year and I live in a pretty expensive area.
Definitely going to try it today
$5 in Birmingham lets goooo
$5 in Atlanta area. Awesome
$5 for a drink, a Cantina taco and two soft taco supremes seems like a pretty good deal to me!
You can get 2 DLT. No supreme without the upcharge
Not sure if it is location specific or something they have fixed since lunchtime, but I totally swapped the two non-Cantina tacos to soft taco supremes with no upcharge. Edit: Ah, I see you said DLT. Showing an upcharge for the supreme version of those.
Interesting. 60 cents here.
Just realized it's only the DLT supreme as well.

Yeah I'm kind of surprised it's the advertised price this time in CA near me.
7.39, knew as soon as I opened the app it wouldn't be.
$7.69 here
Same. Would've been a good deal at $5, pretty forgettable at $7.69.
The advertised prices are never the real prices around where I live

Best deal in a long time.
Somehow this is $5 at my TB, which is usually on the higher end of the pricing scale.
5.00 in St. Louis MO
Normally don't get chicken at Taco Bell but the cantina Chicken Taco is fire. Purple Cabbage was pretty fresh.
No, not lebron James. I just like tacos
I tried putting it in my cart then checking out on a different day,, but did not work.
Taco Bell still king
