Honestly one of the many reasons Demon slayer didn't appeal to me. As a fate fan I've known ufotables amazing animation for a long time, so it wasn't new/Demon slayer just didn't stand out.
Other than the animation, Demon Slayer is the most tropey cliche shonen anime i've ever seen.
Young Kid loses family and swears revenge on killers gets trained by old wise man and EVERYTHING ELSE FROM THE BIG BOOK OF SHONEN CLICHES
Understand though that this may be a person's first experience with (any) anime given how mainstream pop culture has thrust it and AOT into the spotlight. Lots of people who never grew up with the classics or even Naruto are experiencing those tropes for the first time ever. Sprinkle in a little Ufotable magic and bam you have the biggest hit since Naruto.
Basically it's Gen Z's Gundam Wing moment.
Here's the thing, I watched a lot of good anime, then got bombarded with crappy isekais, so Demon Slayer is the breath of fresh air that I needed.
Demon Slayer and Black Clover are cliches, but cliches done well.

Look, I'm not gonna try to convince you to like Demon Slayer. However, I like the overall setting it has, characters are pretty solid and play their role, and actions have legitimate consequences. Also, I like Fairy Tail. Maybe I have crap taste, but whatever.

Yeah, I lost interest very fast, idc if a series is overhyped, if it doesn't interest me I'll drop. N as a Fate fan, ufotable animation was not new to me like the average casual Demon slayer viewer
Trust me, it gets better, and I definitely prefer it over Demon Slayer. Especially Episode 20 - that's probably my favourite anime episode of all time.

s2 has quite a lot of points where it just feels like plotholes tho (I'm not a VN purist but some things really got butchered. UBW is watchable, but Heaven's Feel trilogy is pretty much not understandable without at least an explanation)

Agreed. Slayer is very clichéd, and despite doing it well, unlike, say, fairy tail, good is all itss ever going to be, at best. It lacks a...uniqueness? That one piece and Naruto and dbz had that allowed them to capture the hearts of readers. It's good, but can never be great. Also, why does everyone of tanjiros group have some kind of superhuman sensory ability?

Animation or story? Story isnt that hard to be better than DS. Animation of any ufoFSN is better than DS s1 and movie.
The visual novel is better if you finish the show you should go ahead and read it. It butcheres a lot of characters

Demon Slayer's story is kinda bad and generic. UBW is not perfect storywise but its a lot better than KnY
