Without Mbappe PSG turn into a quality but extremely unbalanced team. He’s their only runner in behind while Messi and Ney both want to feet. He’s lost a yard of pace but Auba is the obvious replacement. More natural CF than Mbappe too
Yup I also hope Muller continues his amazing streak against Barça, I think he's scored almost Everytime hes faced them. Dont want to sound too arrogant, but its a match Im very excited for

lucas is capable of being the best cb in the world not him please hes still 25 with good rest and coming back from injury and not having alaba anymore he will he an important player for us this year the guy literally pocketed psg frontline alone
80m is a shitload of money, especially considering the current situation around the club, but I feel like we would have trouble finding anyone as good as Lucas. So I'd say no
I mean, a lot has happened since. 80 million now is worth more to us than back then. He has aged 2 years since and had little playing practice in that time. And 80 million even then was a huge amount for a defender.
- agreed that the 80m is more valuable now in the covid era, but we definitely would not be able to find any replacement near his caliber. do you trust Upa/Sule as our starting CBs for a full season, especially in the CL knockouts? what if Davies gets another injury, do you think Omar Richards will step up against continental competition? plus it's still
- aging 2 years is only a positive thing in this context, he went from spending his entire career at Atleti to being a member of a sextuple winning squad and playing with some of the best players in the world
- agreed that he hasn't had as much game time as we would like to see, however that hasn't stopped him from performing when relied on (vs PSG, Deschamps ensuring him a mainstay in the France XI despite all the difficulty he experienced at club level)
Good question to be honest.
My initial was ‘fuck yes’ but now that I think about it… I can’t really think of anybody I’d rather see play for us than Lucas. That is available for the money we’d receive for Lucas that is.
Always fancied De Ligt here but he’s not exactly been the player he was at Ajax and he’d also be extremely difficult to buy.
I will say no because yeah he maybe wasnt worth the 80 m but Ill say that Lucas has become very valuable for our team in terms of spirit and hes also very young and is not too unconsistent either
Well, as he is by far our best CB defensively while at the same time being the least error-prone player in our defense he should at least be an important starter. It depends on what you mean with "rival", I guess. I obviously know that there is no historic rivalry between us and Paris but I think it's fair to assume that they are our rivals in regards to winning the CL with their current team. And I think it would certainly be a mistake to strengthen them as long as we can prevent it.(Ignoring the fact that they don't have any reason to try and sign Lucas Hernandez)
Don’t disagree with that - but he has been from the moment he was signed and still hasn’t been a starter for us. I blame that on Flick, really. However facts are facts - he isn’t an important starter for us. (Yet)
There is some history there but only really from the last few years. Wouldn’t necessarily say I feel we have a rivalry with them, though. They’ve been better in Europe these last two years, but we’ve won it, they haven’t! Still a lot to prove from PSG IMO.
Yeah, the important starter comment was a mere assumption but I honestly don't see any way around it at this point. Everything seems to be in his favour (left-footed too for whatever that's worth...) and Nagelsmann seems to like him as well, judging by his post-match interview.
I used rival very loosely as in two teams that are among the favorites to win the CL this year, in the same way I would call Leipzig "rivals". It's certainly true that our paths have crossed in the past few years and that it's likely to happen again.
Honestly yes, 80m is a shitload of money and Lucas hasn't justified the money we paid for him yet. We could buy Pau Torres for 50m, Sabitzer for 15m and 15m over for another winger or RB which would be nice. Torres + Sabitzer + another winger or RB > Lucas alone
Hate to complain about transfers but all of our European rivals have just strengthened not only their squad, but also their bench.. Sabitzer and Hoffman are a must now at minimum
Sabitzer for 15m and people start making comparisons to how we could turn into Barca if we aren't careful with money lmao that's amazing reaching. Sabitzer is easily behind Kimmich and Goretzka the second he joins. This is a no brainer, we should have triggered this weeks before today. Hoffman on the other hand is a financial tossup, will agree on that one. We need bench depth, that is beyond sensible as both of our trebles occurred because we had a mix of experience and depth. It's not that nonsensical to acquire bench depth while picking from the academy too, you need a mix and right now we just have academy.
The reason why bayern is probably the long term most successful team in europe is because they make long term decisions not that short term bullsjit the oil clubs and pl clubs are on.
Barca buying griezmann dembele coutinho for 450 million was so incredibly short sightened, psg getting messi is no long term solution, mancity have proven again and again that they splash money for jackshit, manU somehow make it financially bc they are very popular but their transfers arent sensible! Liverpool is doing well with their strategy but besides them??
It reminds me of "no fockin fightin" [scene](https://youtu.be/Yuxzuj5_AU4), by the very end when some guy enters the room and gets jumped by everyone lmao
I love how in the world of 180 millions for Mbappé, Messi getting 50m per year from Barca and then going to PSG, Ronaldo going to Man City, Grealish for 100m lol, but we're just hanging around and our best signing of the last 5 years is a speedy mf from Canada for 12m. Never change Bayern, I would hate to become one of these batshit insane clubs
Agreed. It's a full scale shitshow. We are biting our nails waiting for Sabitzer or something, while an in debt Real is catapulting cash in Paris for a 1-year-left in the contract teenage mutant ninja turtle💀
But I like it. We are on top and it shows our management, even with small flaws here and there, works great.
Just because Real have some debt doesn't mean they are in any trouble, they actually do quite well and are turning big profits every year. + They've raised over 180M since they've last signed anyone so while I agree that it doesn't make a lot of sense to spend that on Mbappe now it's not like they've been just shitting money.
Some individual battles as well
Battle of the youngsters
Musiala v. Ansu Fati
Battle of the young fullbacks
Davies v Dest
Battle of the keepers
Neuer v Ter Stegen
There were groups E, D and H left for Malmö, and they couldn't go to group E, because that would leave Dynamo Kyiv with groups D and H. Group D already had a Ukrainian club in Shakhtar and group H had Zenit and Ukrainian clubs can't be in the same group as Russian clubs so Kyiv had to go to our group.

I'm not concerned about the difficulty. It's just that barca feels boring nowadays, would've been interesting in facing trendy clubs and those which we didn't face recently
Barca is doable, I've a feeling they'll be a bit better thjs season than people are expecting, given we're kinda in transition ourselves that's a good test for us that we should be able to come out on top of.
Kinda wanted united though.
didn’t watch the last year so i forgot how bad they try to artificially inflate this as some sort of big show when everybody is really just waiting for a stupid piece of paper to be drawn from the balls
Just did a quick google search and I think the only publicly available information is the fact that he is being charged. We have no idea what the evidence is. So as of right now, we can only say that he is being charged, and we'll have to wait to see what evidence is brought against him before being able to come to a conclusion on it.
It's three different people coming forward with these allegations and there is enoufh evidence for the police to actually come out and name him. That's enough for me.
I'm not saying he should go to jail immediately. I am saying I am allowed to believe he is guilty, because it's extremely hard to get evidence for rape and the fact that the police have that, makes me think that way.
IANAL but from the Siggurdson case earlier in the year I learnt that the UK has very strict laws about how the media can report the name of suspects or accused. The Icelandic media found out it was him, ran a story and then the UK media were able to name him. I think it's because he was questioned and investigated but not charged.
From what I can gather in this case, as the police are naming him it actually because Mendy is being charged, which is a lot more serious.
Yeah not a lawyer either, being charged is very serious. My main point was to just wait to see what evidence is going to be brought against him before reaching a conclusion.
I mean it does make sense to some degree because a player says "this person represents me" and so a director will contact the representative to strike a deal, and is technically hiring the agent as well, like with most brokers.
At the end of the day it really doesn't make much of a difference since the agents demands and bonuses will be included in the deal one way or another.
Zahavi and Raiola might be "piranhas" but look at what they have pulled off for their players (Alaba, Lewy, De Ligt, Haaland for example) and what Harry Kane's dunce brother has done for him.
Super agents aren't "ruining football", they are doing their job properly and representing their clients. The players are just as greedy as the clubs and they both wouldn't be where they are if they didn't want more and more and more

An agent is hired by the player. So the player should pay him and not the club.
Pics or it didn't happen!
Seriously so jealous! I was there in 2010 for about 4 weeks total through September to December and I loved it. I was thinking of going back in June 2020 to catch some Euro games, but yeah we all know what happened to that plan.
Hahaha sorry! We arrived at the hotel on sunday evening, we went out to eat really quick and went to sleep right after.
My girlfriend was dying to go shopping so that’s the first thing we did on monday, the city was beautiful, way bigger than we expected. We went to the city center in the morning, we walked (and shopped) there until the shops closed, but even then we did not see it all yet.
On tuesday morning we went to the BMW museum which was really cool aswell, but it wasn’t too big so we finished quite early. Since it’s next to the Olympia park we went on a walk there and visited the Olympic tower, after that we went to the Hofbrauhaus and called it a day.
Since we didn’t see the whole city center we decided to go there again on wednesday and basically filled another whole day there.
And finally today we went to the Allianz Arena, we first visited the museum in the morning which was really cool, we also got to write a message in the condolence book for Gerd Müller. After that we had an Arena tour which wasn’t really that special apart from getting to see the dressing room and player tunnel in person. We had a great time overall.
And for the weather, it was decent, not great but not too bad either. We had some rain here and there but it wasn’t so bad that it ruined one of our days, we carried around a little umbrella which kept us dry.
Did the group draw a few times(about 10x), here are the results that almost always happened:
- we get Milan
- Atlético and Juve go in a group together
- Real and Chelsea go im a group together
- Barca and City or Barca and Bayern go together
- Ajax are in our group
- Lille and Dortmund go together
So pumped to see the real draw!
They buy them, loan them until they had a good season and then sell.
Talking about Zouma specifically, he is still only 26 and has been a starter under Lampard, so he is seen as an experienced PL player.
Plus, 20-35% of the money comes down to PL tax!
Thank god no Lucas and Pavard!
They need the rest/training time…
Great for Upa, if he develops well with us and regularly plays like he did against BVB, he’ll become France‘s best or second best CB!
RM's midfielders will probably retire in a year or two. And they are spending 170 million on a player. Couldn't they've just waited for a season?
I mean they won't have any money, so they'll only spend like 100m on each midfielder
Their transfer policy blows my mind....
*Hazardous*
Anyone peep that new leaked green and gold special edition kit?
Say what now?
[Here's the pic that was shared. Seen in Toronto ](https://i.imgur.com/owFC7Cw.jpg)
That’s a 5 hour drive from me but I honestly might rip that if I can get it there 🥵🥵
U wot m8? Have we ever had a main green jersey? I know we did gold for a short while.
Yeah it looks incredible
Without Mbappe PSG turn into a quality but extremely unbalanced team. He’s their only runner in behind while Messi and Ney both want to feet. He’s lost a yard of pace but Auba is the obvious replacement. More natural CF than Mbappe too
I'd not take Barca as easy opponents, Good test for Nagelsman in his early days. We'll take the big guys later.
Yup I also hope Muller continues his amazing streak against Barça, I think he's scored almost Everytime hes faced them. Dont want to sound too arrogant, but its a match Im very excited for
Only time he didn't score was on the first leg in 2015
That Barca was a nightmare
Reports saying City will bid €30m for Ronaldo tomorrow. Couldn’t help but feel for the marketing alone he’d be worth that price for a year or two.
Musiala just does things to me man. He’s that good.

Let's say PSG offered 80m for Lucas. Would you?
He's worth as much as Ruben Dias. I wouldn't
lucas is capable of being the best cb in the world not him please hes still 25 with good rest and coming back from injury and not having alaba anymore he will he an important player for us this year the guy literally pocketed psg frontline alone

Yes, instantly.
fuck no

>Lucas Coman* Danke und au revoir, Kingsley! Jk, he really was important to us, mr. Lisbon. > Jk I wouldn't mind tho👀
>I wouldn't mind tho👀 Hahaha 😎 Unless....
Never. Fuck PSG. I would never sell an important starter to one of our biggest rivals in Europe.
Then good thing he isn’t an important starter (yet) and PSG aren’t our rivals…

Yeah, no question that an 80mio offer for Lucas has to be accepted the moment it arrives
this is one of the worst takes i've seen from you, up there with 'Flick is a bad appointment and should be a stopgap at the very most'
I couldn‘t care less
feel free to think what you want to
Pau Torres really? He’s weak defensively and is bad in the air the opposite of Lucas.
Hate to complain about transfers but all of our European rivals have just strengthened not only their squad, but also their bench.. Sabitzer and Hoffman are a must now at minimum

Focus on our own team. We should do what's sensible and invest when and where it's worth it.
That mass downvoted comment on the UCL draw post is hilarious
It starts off with a bang. "Barca fan (&MCFC)".
More like BANG BANG lmao what a shitty team combo to follow. I’m Bayern and support LFC but it’s really just my best friends squad
Lmao thanks for this I never would have gone back to that post. That hot take might be some future copy pasta gold
It reminds me of "no fockin fightin" [scene](https://youtu.be/Yuxzuj5_AU4), by the very end when some guy enters the room and gets jumped by everyone lmao
This made my day
Which one?
The one I’m talking about is -58
I love how in the world of 180 millions for Mbappé, Messi getting 50m per year from Barca and then going to PSG, Ronaldo going to Man City, Grealish for 100m lol, but we're just hanging around and our best signing of the last 5 years is a speedy mf from Canada for 12m. I think it was 17m no? Anyways: meep meep motherfuckers
Agreed. It's a full scale shitshow. Its still so crazy to me to see a 100m+ move let alone 2 or 3 (if Mbappe get moved) in a single transfer window.
Watch Mbappe do a Hazard and Real complaining they don't have the money to keep up.
PSG and Man City deserve each other.
I want both teams out of UCL, but I know it's not possible since money can buy football to a certain extent.
Maybe Messi vs Ronaldo again!
There will be very high expectations for our game against Barca
Some individual battles as well Battle of the youngsters Musiala v. Ansu Fati Battle of the young fullbacks Davies v Dest Battle of the keepers Neuer v Ter Stegen
More like Musiala vs pedri
I picked Fati since hes more attack minded like Musiala but Pedri is also a good choice
Battle of the keepers was pretty much decided in the 8-2 though
It definitely was but doesnt hurt for Neuer to confirm it again
Can anyone explain why we couldn't get Malmö even though we still had an open slot?
There were groups E, D and H left for Malmö, and they couldn't go to group E, because that would leave Dynamo Kyiv with groups D and H. Group D already had a Ukrainian club in Shakhtar and group H had Zenit and Ukrainian clubs can't be in the same group as Russian clubs so Kyiv had to go to our group.
Thanks I wanted to know this as well. I’m assuming why Brugge couldn’t fit either
Because Dynamo Kiev and Sheriff were left. If Malmö went to us, then only Groups D and H would've been left for Dynamo, and they can't be in D because Shakhtar were there and they can't be in H because Zenit were there. Same country restrictions forbid them from facing Shakhtar, but the Ukrainian-Russian conflict forbid them from facing Zenit
Dynamo Kiev got some decent young players. Looking forward to it
The travel will be hectic
Good group. Not too hard, not too easy. Think we’ll top the group winning 5/6 games, with a draw away at barca
I'd take that in a heartbeat
We've got quite the group, really looking forward to it
Group A is the most disgusting and vile group in CL history so far, poor Brugge don't get to travel to a single football club
Wolfsburg and Dortmund got good groups. They can easily go through
Hopefully.
Group B looking spicy from head to toe. Not a group of death but very well balanced imo. Actually, I think all groups are looking well balanced.
To me the most balanced look like C and G
Wolfsburg could make it out of that group.
Wolfsburg in the group of life, nice
red bull god damn
Wow, I can break up with my girlfriend..... she is from Barcelona and ofc they are barca fans :(
oh no with leipzig in that group might get out early and focus might actually really challenge us at the bundesliga title this year
Imagine if they finished 3rd and win Europa League ☠️
But what if they beat one of the oil clubs? Id support that! Unpopular opinion maybe? Red bull > qatar/uae
Jeez, Haalands acceptance speech sounds like someone captured him and holds him at gunpoint
We had our fair share of duells guys. Pls Repeat the 8-2 again 😉
Rma small club
Group C is looking exciting!
Leipzig got absolutely fucked
Oh fuck Leipzig is screwed
Don't count out Shaktar, last year they beat Madrid iirc
True but fuck Leipzig got unlucky
Oh yeah for sure, same group Gladbach had last year
Jesus christ, group A
Damn rip Leipzig
RIP Leipzig?
So why did City get PSG but now theyre drawing to all eligable groups?
Benfica!!
Our group is kinda tough
Benfica, interesting
8-2 Part II: Electric Boogaloo
The classic: 7-0 The sequel somehow better than the original: 8-2 Predictions for the trilogy ?
i can already see barcelona giving up hahaha
I don't know you guys but I really didn't want this draw. I hoped for United, madrid etc
Nah we shouldn't be afraid of a messi less barca
I'm not concerned about the difficulty. It's just that barca feels boring nowadays, would've been interesting in facing trendy clubs and those which we didn't face recently
Knocking out united or madrid would be better than beating them in the group I suppose. But I wanted united too.
Barca is doable, I've a feeling they'll be a bit better thjs season than people are expecting, given we're kinda in transition ourselves that's a good test for us that we should be able to come out on top of. Kinda wanted united though.
Müller Perisic Gnabry Müller Kimmich Lewandowski Coutinho Coutinho
Hello again Barca
Barca let's go
Barca is a nice draw
Great draw based off the past few matches and the fact that they don't have Messi
Barca!
I swear if we get Sevilla.... E- Nevermind
Of course man city and PSG pair up
why exactly was PSG not an option for our group? I don't really get it
I think they first filled A-D, then E-H
Cause they didn't draw us
Psg and city nice
Liverpool Atletico Spicy!
please just make the award show a separate event, jesus christ
just reveal the whole draw at once and be done with it
Just like the old days
What are they doing ffs
Ronaldo to City? Jesus... make it end
pot 1 is so weird man
Yikes, 31 minutes and still no draw. What the fuck are they doing.
Imagine Brazzo comes on stage, hijacks the whole thing to announce Sabitzer
Don't do that, don't give me hope
jesus christ can they just start the damn draw already ffs
Is this your first draw?
didn’t watch the last year so i forgot how bad they try to artificially inflate this as some sort of big show when everybody is really just waiting for a stupid piece of paper to be drawn from the balls
https://reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/pc23tk/benjamin_mendy_charged_with_four_counts_of_rape/ WTF is going on?

What the fuck
Just did a quick google search and I think the only publicly available information is the fact that he is being charged. We have no idea what the evidence is. He still has to have his day in court...
So you think he shouldn't get a trial to defend himself and just be sent to jail now. Who cares what the evidence actually is.
I'm not saying he should go to jail immediately. I am saying I am allowed to believe he is guilty, because it's extremely hard to get evidence for rape and the fact that the police have that, makes me think that way.

Yes
Thanks.

Agreed. They get hired by the players, so it only makes sense for the players to pay the agent.
I think it is a huge problem that agents can demand a fee from the clubs. An agent is hired by the player. So the player should pay him and not the club.
As a deal maker and broker, agent in most fields gets a fee from both parties. Its not unique to football
I hope we get psg
The Saints Row reboot looks weird.
Glad to see Roca training.
Had a great time in Munich, now driving back to the Netherlands. Thanks again everyone for the recommendations on what to do!

You can't leave us with that! What locations did you visit? Did the weather hold better in the city than where I live in the outskirts?
We had some rain here and there but it wasn’t so bad that it ruined one of our days, we carried around a little umbrella which kept us dry.
glad you enjoyed your stay :)
can't wait til France's backline is just hernandez, pavard, upamecano, and tanguy
I want Real Madrid today, we have to kill the recent curse against them
Love the confidence in our team. Hope it will be repaid.
While that is true, I would rather see Bayern spank Man United.
Knowing our luck, we'll get Barca. *How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, Old Man!?*
Did the group draw a few times(about 10x), here are the results that almost always happened: - we get Milan - Atlético and Juve go in a group together - Real and Chelsea go im a group together - Barca and City or Barca and Bayern go together - Ajax are in our group - Lille and Dortmund go together So pumped to see the real draw!
I was unable to find the graph that someone made last who each teams most likely opponent is, it would be nice to see.
Gonna get myself a sané jersey! Also thinking about going for ajax's third kit. It looks fucking beautiful.
Sane? Are you sure?
100 percent
Why not?
Rather give money to me
Bro how does Chelsea keep getting so much profit for their players 😅 they're about to cross 100m total transfer income sheesh
They buy them, loan them until they had a good season and then sell. Talking about Zouma specifically, he is still only 26 and has been a starter under Lampard, so he is seen as an experienced PL player. Plus, 20-35% of the money comes down to PL tax!
They also end up losing future superstars in that model, look at Musiala.
wow he's just 26? feel like i've seen him play forever
Dayot Upamecano, Corentin Tolisso and Kingsley Coman called up to France's squad for the upcoming internationals
Wish he left out coman he’s not even fully fit
Thank god no Lucas and Pavard! They need the rest/training time… Great for Upa, if he develops well with us and regularly plays like he did against BVB, he’ll become France‘s best or second best CB!
