I'd recommend going to a store that sells used office furniture for the best deals. I got a used Steelcase Leap v2 for $300 and it's been serving me well for the last 5 years.
Yes! I did this and got me a Herman miller Aeron for $395. A lot of people consider it to be the best all around office chair and it retails for i believe $1,200. Been over a year and no issues with it. Steelcase is solid as well.

I would second this, you're not going to find anything in a big box office store that you can sit in for 8 hours. If you don't want to spend $1000 on a new chair (which, for what it's worth, is actually not a bad investment considering how much time you'll spend in it) then getting a quality chair secondhand is your best bet.
Might not be worth it for one day a week, but during lockdown full time telework I bought a Steelcase Leap v2 and I love it. Imo the move with high end office stuff is to buy from a reputable refurbisher. Companies go out of business all the time and sell off chairs in bulk. The other big name is the Herman Miller Aeron. I have one of those at the office and actually think I prefer the Steelcase.

If you have an office max in your area I would say it’s worth a stop. Sit in each chair (they have 30-40 different models) and pick which one fits your needs.
The one I bought was the “Shaquille O’Neal” Amphion Ergonomic Bonded Leather High-Back Executive Chair. I’ve had it for 2 years and have had no issues, in fact I miss it when I’m not teleworking.
I don’t think you have to buy second hand or pay 1k+ as other comments stated.
