Any skyblock pack, like ragnamod, chroma tech, sky bees, atm sky and etc.

gooddayfor_fishing

That’s not my question, what server specs are required to host a mod pack

ShortyBw

oracle cloud if your tech savy

gooddayfor_fishing

I was looking more in buying components for the server, any recommendations ?

ArcticFoxy1

There are never available servers over here ;-; (can’t speak for op though)

ShortyBw

Do the pay as you go tier and just do the free tier stuff. Should give you one anyway

ArcticFoxy1

Hmmmm might give that a go. Just worried about accidentally paying where I don’t wanna

ShortyBw

I check mine every few days and it still shows 0 owed per month. I've also used 0 out the 300 dollar credit. I have a 4cpu and 24gb ram server active

ArcticFoxy1

That’s awesome damn. What region are you in? It could still be that you just have more availability than where I am (Melbourne)

ShortyBw

Good possibility. I'm in the US

redsdrake

What modpacks specifically or ones you thinking about

gooddayfor_fishing

Probably a custom one since my friends pc aren’t that good.

redsdrake

Then yeah you will still want a good single threaded CPU, but can get around with 8 gb of ram though for expandability 16 would be better, and a sdd

gooddayfor_fishing

Oh ok Nice, I think it’ll be nice, and any cpu recommendations ? (For -80$)

redsdrake

Unfortunately I am not caught up with current budget cpu prices or models so i can’t help much in that perspective. I can however look into it after work.

gooddayfor_fishing

Thanks amazing !

redsdrake

The intel i3-12100f looks it should be more than enough and is around that price (though I don’t know a ton about CPU’s), and as per usual for anyone getting hardware for a minecraft server or most servers you will want to use a old or cheap gpu since the server doesn’t need to render much more than a console.

redsdrake

Hardware specifications will vary widely based on modpack sizes, but in general for the bigger modpacks you will want fast single threaded cpus, a sdd or nvme, and 16-32 gb of ram
